December has arrived and that means that 2012 will soon be over. Adam has been “trespassing” all around the world lately and currently finds himself in China and will wrap up his 2012 with a New Years Eve concert in Bali. But before the year ends with a bang there is plenty to do on his home turf. He heads to NY for “Cyndi Lauper and Friends” and a TV appearance, then hops across country for a radio event and a little “Diva” hosting thang.
A lot of holiday cheer to look forward to!

Choosing a photo for the monthly threads is never easy. However, it’s his most recent look that is getting attention. Since it may not last long, I thought that most of you would enjoy the look from the Mnet Awards – fierce, defiant, always unpredictable Adam.

I have a great deal of respect for Q3 but I don’t agree with her when she states that Pop = Popular. Pop = the genre of music: Pop. Doesn’t it?

She has statistics for the past 5 years in terms of sales and nominations but that is not supposed to be … it’s not supposed to be … a factor when considering someone for a Grammy nomination.

This is in the Grammy book of rules and guidelines. Consideration should be given based on artistic merit and that alone.

I don’t know though. The rules also advise voters to not vote for someone because that person may be a friend or relative. I can’t imagine Blake Shelton saying to his wife, “Miranda, I think Carrie did a better job so I’m not going to vote for you”.

People of course will vote for friends/family and most likely will look at sales … but they’re not supposed to!

We’ll find out in about 25 more hours. I wish I felt more optimistic.

Was looking at the bids and thinking that Adam could totally “outsell” any of them. Can you imagine the SPGs if lunch with Adam and a tour of his house was on the bidding list?

Well, actually, there is one aspect of your post with which I disagree. The facial hair. I am digging it!!

mils – when I said that people were on a “journey toward acceptance,” I wasn’t referring to anyone here, and I hope I didn’t put you or anyone else on the defensive. I was making reference to posters at Adamtopia who were specifically discussing their own “journey toward acceptance” that they saw themselves on since embracing Adam and his friends.

I totally respect and accept that some folks here may not particularly like Johnny’s style or dance technique, or worry that the mainstream audience won’t accept it. And I do agree that Terrance is a more skilled, fluid, and precise dancer than Johnny. My take on it is simply that Adam seems to have made a clear choice in choosing Johnny, that he seems to find Johnny an effective foil to play with onstage, and that he seems to be really enjoying being his true self onstage lately. I guess whether or not it comes back to bite him and reduce his mainstream acceptance remains to be seen. Although it obviously carries some risk, I think (and hope) that the way in which Adam remains true to himself and his world, and gently pushes boundaries in a fun, playful, open, friendly way (a’la rs‘s beautiful quote above) will continue to prompt discussion and increasing acceptance of diversity.

Re: Johnny’s posing and his “fit” – check out this pic! Adam is not above sticking out his own tush once in a while himself.

And he must have had the go-ahead from Hennessy for the crotch-grabs, etc. that were captured on camara. I didn’t hear any boos from the crowd.

Remains to be seen what he does going forward, whether he leaves the show as is, or modifies it, especially for the US.
But what WE want for Adam as far as mainstream acceptance, and what Adam wants may not be the exact same thing.

Still, GNT was pretty damn outrageous – kissing Tommy, mic BJs and masturbation, etc. He seems pretty toned down to me.
Also remember the dance moves in Fever with Terence and Taylor, and humping Tommy, stroking Tommy’s bass, well, a little flirting with Johnnie is tame LOL.

It looks like the prophet has come to teach glam to the masses. It’s a great pic. — Put me with the people that love the Hennessy press conference shot, and our December title picture. Not a fan of facial hair in general but I can certainly make an exception for this look.

What comes to my mind first is that Adam wants to play and interact on the stage, and doing it with Tommy the way he did in GNT is no longer a good idea… Johnny is so “over” and not Adam’s type (I guess?) that it seems more like a show act, no wrong interpretations to fuel crays.

I think I represent that “European openness”, it’s no problem to me to watch gay acts on stage. For me it’s Adam’s choice. I have to say that when I discovered GNT vids in spring, I found his play with Tommy pretty hot – that surprised me, I am supposed to be a straight female But I understand it’s not so easy to all people. When I watched the stream from Hennessy, I was wondering how China public & government would react, but haven’t got a clue of that. If he gets the right to have a concert there, it’s probably ok. It’s interesting to see where all this leads, what’s the final Tour show gonna be. It looks like there will be a lot of rehearsal before Helsinki in March…

Thinking of the tour, I am wondering when this non-tour changes to Trespassing tour. Will Asia and Eastern Europe be part of that already? That will be pretty tough schedule in Feb & March. THere was rumors in twitter about some Queen+Adam festival concerts in UK, but Shoshanna didn’t confirm.

more morning musings:
So I have been thinking about Johnny and Adam’s reasoning for bringing him on the show. (In addition to everything we have talked about.) One of the things that has touched Adam so much over these past few years has been the fact that through him, people who had no previous exposure to the LGBT community, had probably “never met a gay person before”, and whose attitudes were formed by society’s preconceived notions, got to know him, and through him totally changed their views. I think he is continuing the process here. So many people, especially in The States now say, OK, you can have your rights, but I don’t want to see you acting too Gay in public. Gay clubs are the types of places where they would never step foot, and probably see them as a bit threatening or scary. So Adam is bringing the Gay club to them! He is showing them…us….everybody….the type of dancing that goes on in Gay clubs, and is saying, see how much fun it is, nothing to be uneasy about or uncomfortable about. Get used to it! The more people see Johnny the more they will get used to him and feel comfortable with what he does. Remember what it was like in the beginning of the GNT when Adam started occasionally kissing Tommy? How daring it was. By the end it was a normal (though never “normal”) part of the show.

Since I am far away, don’t follow other entertainers, and don’t read celebrity news and interviews (except where Adam is involved), I am really curious about this. I know what we feel about Adam’s openness, but is he really so exceptional and different from others out there? I have seen interviews with Gaga and she seemed so fake and self serving…

I am feeling the same things as rs at the moment. For some reason, maybe watching all the Chinese Glamberts bouncing around in black and yellow at MAMA and Hennessey, my fandom has ratcheted up. The pure joy of knowing that your passion is shared seems to add fuel to the feelings. Thanks to this site, we’re all on a steady boil but the pot almost boiled over this week.

As for Johnny, I agree that he’s there for a reason. Adam knows what he wants and he wants Johnny. I am fine with the nature of the choreography but am less so about the calibre. I believe that Adam will have proper choreography and a couple more dancers when he hits the offical tour road in January/February.

BTW, back in July, Tommy told a fan at Hammersmith that the tour would start in February so the dates popping up are clearly part of a grand plan and I would put bets on the non-tour being announced as a Trespassing Tour very soon.

Looks like North America will be final leg of the tour. He’s just saving the best for last.
