Exciting times are upon us as July begins! Adam has just completed an outstanding first full length concert with Queen at a charity event in Kiev, Ukraine (as captured in the photo above). Five more Queen + Adam Lambert concerts are lined up for Moscow, Wroclaw (Poland) and London during the next couple of weeks. Adam will then return to the United States to play a series of solo concerts during the second half of the month, including gigs in Costa Mesa, Sacramento, Des Moines, Thackerville (Oklahoma), and a much anticipated return to the site of one of his first and most memorable concerts at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. All told, Adam will perform in 10 live concerts this month, which will make this his busiest month for live performances since November 2010 when he was in the European portion of the Glam Nation Tour. As always, enjoy the chat!

Re: MJ’s–I pretty much quit reading there when she went to Discus, because my phone won’t display the posts. Plus I try to stay away from so much negativity. Ron–I saw your post and agreed, but left no response. I always feel like I have to shower after I’ve been there. It’s just not fun anymore. Here is fun, interesting, and educational. Safe.

As for how Trespassing is doing–keep in mind there are several factors in sales. First, there are too many people who just download music from youtube or other sources without actually buying the songs/album. Unless someone is passionate about supporting the artist, there is a lot of temptation just to convert the songs you like.

Second, the economy sucks. Money I would have spent on CDs has dried up for me. It’s been three years since my husband has been laid off, no more unemployment is available. He’s recently had serious medical issues and almost died. There are a gazillion things going wrong now. Even if Adam was performing across the street, I don’t know that I could afford a concert. (I’m sure my kids would chip in and buy me a ticket!) I know I’m not alone. A lot of people are hurting. Overall sales for everyone is down.

I don’t care about radio play–how many people are really listening anyway? I’m in the car about 20 minutes a day. I hear more commercials and talk than music. My grandkids all have iPods and download what they want to listen to.

In the real world, Adam isn’t considered a failure. His name is still out there, people know who he is. They aren’t following record sales or statistics. They are reading positive reviews of his record in magazines, the television entertainment shows were talking about him.

The more they see him in magazines, news articles, and on television, the more he is perceived as being successful, even if he isn’t getting radio play. The more he can get on television, the more visibility he gets. I would love to see some kind of special with him singing.

All I know is that when the American Idol people wanted some publicity, they just have to mention Adam Lambert. Of course, Nigel hasn’t spoken to him–he’d have to chase him down overseas. I thought Adam’s response was very gracious. He’s always been complimentary to Idol and grateful for the opportunities it brought. Without it, he wouldn’t be singing with Queen, or be promoting his second album. Not desperate at all. After all, where was he four years ago?

Just wondering – has anyone who bought Fantasy Springs tickets through the fanclub presale received their tickets yet, or even a notice that they have shipped? Mine were supposed to ship on July 6, but haven’t yet, and a saw a post on the fanclub saying that they talked to ground control today who doesn’t even have the tickets yet themselves. Claiming they will arrange for folks to pick up their tickets at Fantasy Springs will call if they can’t be shipped in time. Hope this gets straightened out quickly.

  7. Ellessay says:

As I stated before, I think Adam is a little ahead of his time. Right now it’s a simplistic, dumbed down sound in pop music. It will turn around…eventually. I think people like Adele are helping with that. If you think about it, Adele didn’t make it big with her first album and I consider Trespassing Adam’s (true) first album so….give him time. The talent he has can’t be denied forever. It will happen…just not in the time/way we all had hoped.

I agree. If pop success means he has to sound like all the other drivel we complain about on the radio, then I hope he never gets there. I’m expecting Adam to change the face of music. With people like Adam and Adele changing things, the future is looking up.

  8. Ellessay says:

I like Better Than I Know Myself. It evokes special memories for me when I hear it. The video was great–but definitely not for the likes of VH1 and their audience. They don’t want to think that hard. Never Close Our Eyes is good too. I think they need to keep releasing songs until people say, “Heck with it, I might as well just buy the album!”

  9. eywflyer says:

I just posted an updated RSVP list for the pre-concert dinner at Costa Mesa in the summer planning thread. Please RSVP there in the next day if you would like to come and haven’t done so already – I need to make reservations this week.

So much positivity, it makes me happy. I just want to say I am on the train of the the first 2 releases of the songs from the album, I said along time ago, BTIKM was ok, but why in the world did they make him release NCOE??? Bruno Mars, be damned. Anyhow, Adam is doing fine, he will be fine, I just bet there will be a third release and it will be Trespassing, or Cuckoo, why not, might as well. They really missed the boat releasing Trespassing, tho. His album will be played many years to come, remember it mostly is a dance album, and the normal public just doesnt get it. Hell the American public doesnt get rock, where would he be had he released a rock album, thats why Queen is popular over there, not here.
Excited for tomorrow, have fun everyone there, it is gonna be good!!!! Adam entertains, I once said on here Adam should play to arenas and stadiums and now he is, thats were he belongs. I dont give a damn if he ever plays here except for the fans that want to see him. He dont need no meat packing plants anymore!!!!!!!!!! ROTFL ROTFL

Not sure if you ever participated on the 24/7 blog, and/or would remember MGF (or MassGlamFan). She posts there now very infrequently because of what can be a very negative environment. Anyway, I’ve told her about this lovely, positive site….and I guess I just wanted to give her a “reference” of sorts for when she sets out to sign up.
She is definitely like-minded, and would add a good point of view.

Ron, belated anniversary greetings. 35 years is a huge accomplishment.

reese, i know MGF from 24/7, she would be a perfect fit over here, she seems a lovely lady.

I brought the last Trespassing cd in HMV in the Westfield Mall yesterday….somebody I spoke to yesterday said the staff in that store and been pretty rude and unhelpful when asked about the album, and obviously wasn’t an Adam fan. Hope the other stores have more stock.

Had a lovely time at the dinner last night, got to sit next to to Little Dutchess, what a lovely fun lady, and had a nice chat with RS, another lovely lady, and had shorter chats witht Agathe.hb,Cwm and Mieps, riskylady and cher (plus many others),Kind of surreal meeting people that you’ve been ‘speaking’ to for so long….Thanks to Riskylady for organising a great evening (the food, and the staff in the restaurant were great), and to cher for coming through with my tickets, I was so happy to finally have them in my hands…

I hope we all have an amazing time tonight,

eywflyer … Thanks for the hard work and everything you have done for us here.
Thanks .. for making me check to the reality .. not on cloud nines everyday.
But I’m not skered. Adam will be iconic. I will just have to be patient.
There are a lot of great things waiting for him. With his mega-talents, Bigger-Than-Life personality, important people in the industries who love him, and fanbases like us, Adam will succeed.

It’s only over three years ago since he sang at a small cabare cafe on a quiet night for a noisy audience, longingly for love, “How Come You Don’t Call Me Anymore”. Lonely, and went to his empty, bugs infested apartment, or got drunk and found himself awake under a bush. (Stop, to wipe off my tears Frown

Right now … Adam is with the Rock Loyalty. HE IS WITH QUEEN. Queen and Adam have played and millions and millions of people around the the globe have witnessed the great, adoration fans have poured their love and admiration. They travel from around the world to see him. I’m looking at you … The Lovely London Gang. Heart Rose

Now, Adam is happy and in love. He has a nice house with dimmers and the lovely Sauli on his side to celebrate and keep it real and domestic.

Last night I was thinking, Adam and his family and friends were at Brian’s estate as dinner guests.
That is the best achievement Adam and his parents ever dreamt for. (Stop.. to wipe my tears off again)

I just love Adam so much and want the best for him. The sad radio thingie prompted me to write this long post.

Alright..I have some packing to do.
Sorry for the long post and with a lot of flaw English.

I tried to be positive over there for the sage of Adam. Not anymore. I clicked like on your post and that’s it. No more mjs for me. washed my hands.

eywflyer, I am going to suggest that you keep just one thread for all the London concerts; I suspect that there will be comments that apply to all of them, and they are so close and on top of each other that three threads for the three concerts could be more confusing than helpful. Just a thought.

Thank you for the thread and (again!) for this wonderful site!

Hi all – bopping around London with the fam today. It was wonderful to meet so many lovely peeps from ALL at the dinner last night. Thank you so much to riskylady for organizing the event.

I am firmly in agreement with those of you who posted positive comments in response to eywflyer’s post. I fully understand and appreciate your frustration with radio play and the numbers for this era, eywflyer, but “disastrous”? No way, not even close in my opinion. There are many many ways to define success and many many ways to achieve it. Adam’s path will not necessarily be a traditional one, but with his talent, relationships with and respect from prominent people in the industry, work ethic, charm, intelligence, looks, etc., he will continue to have many great opportunities come his way. Plus, Trespassing debuted at #1 and is critically acclaimed, and nothing will ever take that away. I would love for Adam to be insanely successful with radio and sales, and get frustrated at the barriers that he encounters that I don’t understand, but I also know I need to keep my expectations realistic and my mind open to the untraditional path that Adam is journeying. He IS trespassing in the music industry. And as he tweeted, he is “pop’s dirty little secret,” don’cha know. Wink
I also think that no matter what eventually happens with the idol judging thing, the press cycle around the speculation about Adam being a judge has been nothing but positive!

Can’t wait for the show tonight! It’s gonna be awesome!

Gotta go – my fish’n’chips just arrived. It’s HUGE!

  32. Kradamour says:

I also know I need to keep my expectations realistic and my mind open to the untraditional path that Adam is journeying.

    Exactly, cwm.
And I think that he has a very realistic shot at a grammy.
In the meantime, he isn’t in any souplines, and he is doing what he loves.
Can you imagine what Adam will be feeling, on stage with QUEEN (and not just the Idol finale), and his father in the audience who has flown to London to see him? And Sauli there, and his brother and mother?
THAT, my friends, is success of the highest order.
    Smile

  33. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

And I think that he has a very realistic shot at a grammy.

I really think so too, kradamour.

Off to see the new poster on the London thread – can’t wait! Smile

  34. Ron says:

There is certainly no lack of caring, loving, and supportive people here, is there? I want you to know how much I take to heart each and every post with your best wishes and kind words. I’m truly grateful!

I really don’t want to mention that other site and never will again but, at the same time, I’d like to thank those who took a moment to “like” some of my posts. It’s always nice to feel validated. I think it’s interesting that, because I would go there so infrequently, I only posted 18 comments. Yet, I had a total of 409 “likes” assigned to them! I guess a few people thought I was “okay” over there. Wink

Happy Anniversary, HK fan! What a coincidence that we share the same date! A wonderful milestone – 30 years!! Congratulations and my best wishes to you and your husband!

It looks like this offer to be the next judge on AI is turning into the kind of search it was to find who will play Scarlett O’Hara. Big Smile Did you see the latest two names added to the list? Charlie Sheen and … Jerry Lewis?!! They may as well add my name to the list … it would be just as ridiculous.

Did you read one of the comments left on 24/7 regarding the Russian review of “Trespassing?” Someone who apparently speaks Russian said the reviewer mentioned on the video that “Trespassing” sold 100,000 copies in one day. That would be nice, wouldn’t it?! I think that’s kind of unlikely. Big Smile

We all hoped for a DVD of this concert and looks like we’re going to get a DVD! Isn’t that wonderful?!! This is going to be a spectacular night and it all begins in just a few hours! Our friends are getting dressed and ready at this very moment. I would have been dressed, ready, sitting by the front door and staring at my watch … yesterday. Wink

Thank you again for all of your very thoughtful comments!
