December has arrived and that means that 2012 will soon be over. Adam has been “trespassing” all around the world lately and currently finds himself in China and will wrap up his 2012 with a New Years Eve concert in Bali. But before the year ends with a bang there is plenty to do on his home turf. He heads to NY for “Cyndi Lauper and Friends” and a TV appearance, then hops across country for a radio event and a little “Diva” hosting thang.
A lot of holiday cheer to look forward to!

Choosing a photo for the monthly threads is never easy. However, it’s his most recent look that is getting attention. Since it may not last long, I thought that most of you would enjoy the look from the Mnet Awards – fierce, defiant, always unpredictable Adam.

Enjoy the chat! Happy Holidays!

Aely, the problem is that BSC Glamberts think that they are not BSC. Just a normal fans. I think that Cook had the same problem.
Why do you think Adam rented house that is not visible and not accessible from the street?

  2. luval says:

    aely…interesting.

I would say give those kids time. I mean a long time. No one ever thinks they will get old. All of a sudden you are in your late 20’s…30’s…etc. Still following Demi and Miley? Doubt it. The Glambert grannies still following Adam? I do think so!

Yeah, it’s the pushy part that none of us like. Even at the Cyndi Lauper thing the Glamberts played a huge part. I really don’t think it would have been sold out without them (us). At the pre-party you would have thought it was a Trespassing Adam Lambert concert. More people than I have ever seen. So much yellow and black.

As time goes on this will be the test. Time is flying by. As these kids start to get married, have their own kids, Demi, Miley and Bieber will be long forgotten IMO. Just have to be patient.

  3. Oksana2000 says:

Luval,Cindy LAuper concert was sold out last year without Glamberts help. Maybe this year particular group of fans was more visible.
Let’s be realistic. Adam is going to be 31 soon, which is old for pop star but young enuf to make a name for himself in any other kind of venue.
It’s interesting tho that his international fans are much younger. Maybe it’s that damn AI stigma in US????

  4. luval says:

I think this is pretty good.

  5. HK fan says:

I think lately the media have been showing a bit more respect to Adams fans, although they still always mention them, before it was in a BSC kind of way, now its more, ‘your fans really love you and are very passionate, they have your back’ kind of way.

Re the AI stigma, I don’t think its that, its never stopped Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry, Jordan, even Scotty and P2. And coming from a reality show hasn’t stopped 1D, carly Rae Jepsen, Miranda Lambert, Cher Lloyd etc. It just seems to be Adam, so there must be another reason, and the only one I can come up with is ‘the gay thing’.

The concert in HK is at the same place as before, but it looks like this time it is all standing, before it was seating and GA. I like it when its both as you have a better chance of getting near the front when standing. I don’t know of that affects the numbers too.

Really happy about the Billboard poll!

    Aely, thanks for your insights.

I’m sure some of us may know glitzylady, the one whose post over at 24/7 got me going this afternoon. The picture of her group of Glamberts at the Divas is what inspired my post. I’m also sure that many of her friends are people some of us know too. The age of the group is what “got me.”

I’m in my “mid-29’s”, younger and older than a lot of Glamberts. However, none of them had camera time by Divas when the audience was shown.

And if indeed, so many of “us” were at the afterparty, and dressed like bumblebees at a non Trespassing event, crikey.

I’m just glad that Adam and troupe were so nice to everybody. As they always are.

I agree, it’s not AI stigma. It’s his age, his glam-ness, and lack of radio play.

The more time he’s out of the country, the more time he is not in our media here. The more time he’s away, the more time only his Glamberts will stay connected and be fans.

Not even the Queen in Kiev massive audience got press here. When they made mistakes on the shows he was on last week, Soledad O’Brien, they were easy to make. There was no media here about Kiev/Queenbert to even research.

When he is out of the states from New Year’s until April, there is no way Trespassing, or Adam will stay “alive” here.

Even Gaga is out of sight, out of mind right now. She’s touring Europe. The only press she’s getting here is about her weight.

I still maintain that being overseas at the release and initial period of the album was a catastrophic misstep.

  9. LadyNorth says:

Interesting conversation and speculations here. Somehow it’s not my first thought that he’s gonna move abroad. Only reasonable place would be London, but he is not that popular in UK (with his own music). I rather predict other kinds of projects in US, and some other projects abroad.

That “non-coolness” because of the older fan base is interesting thing. I could think it has some meaning, especially if some peeps are overly aggressive and visible. What I have learned about Europe, here fans are around 20-40 years females, most of them under 30, but I know some older die-hards now. But those who travel to many concerts are not the youngest ones – understandably. But I know only very few who are over 40 (older people watch Finnish Idol but not AI). What I find interesting is that many fans here (regardless of age) say their friends don’t like Adam, they feel they are the only fans they know (I am talking about die-hards on sites). But I think those who like him, love him a lot.

Did Adam have younger fans in US right after AI? What happened all those people who bought FYE? Was the time between the albums too long? Only the loyal 29s stayed?

I read many news sites today about Diva’s. Some comments too, but not very many. What kind of hurt me was that some comments said they think Adam is fake. That his make up, way to dress and perform is just an act, what he thinks a pop star is supposed to do. And what I have learned, that definitely is real Adam! I think some of those sites were gay sites/mags. Those commentators thought he has a great voice, but they don’t like his looks, dresses or the way he acts and performs (all the things why I love him). Ok that was only a few comments but it made me think is there a lot of people who think like that? And I have a feeling radio tries it’s best to sink Adam’s career on purpose (big frown).

Not trying to down anything, I am just curios to hear what you all think the situation is. I would love to find a “scientific result” what non-fans who saw Divas on tv really though. Based on few comments on some entertainment sites it is very difficult to know how common and extreme some viewpoints are.

  10. glambotgram says:

Mistakes began with the aborted release Trespassing because of the bastard BFM. I think he probably already had overseas commitments when they had to delay the release.

Single choice’s BTIKM and NCOE mistakes. Should have been Trespassing from the start.

Adam is going to continue to work hard, he will be ok, maybe not Gaga status but he will continue to make a good living.

I dislike seeing 29 year olds maligned for being fans. He knows we have kept him afloat. So what if peeps wore Trespassing colors to Divas, who else but Glamberts knew it.
This is more about what I see on twitter than anything I see here. There are so many fans who think they are the only ones who know how to be a proper fan.

  11. luval says:

Here is that picture of the glamberts at Divas:

    http://pbs.twimg.com/media/A-VWsztCYAAcziF.jpg

I think it’s great!! Remove every 29 yr old out of the photo and what have you got? Room for tweens? I don’t think so. Doubt if they will shell out & show up.

Our 31 yr old worldwide superstar is on to bigger &; better things. RCA wants the “green” and I think we’ve got it!
And mils you are right about him being away for release of the album. Stupid stupid stupid.

eta: really don’t see any yellow/black in the photo. Only black.

  12. aely says:

But what was funny at that party, I didn’t even really notice until they pointed it out. I do wish they would back off a bit. I have to say I was kind of irritated with the conversation and thought they were being bullies. Then I had to remember that they are young and naive and it is the way they gossip. On the other hand, they also liked his performances. I just had really not seen that behavior so I was a little surprised.

And yes, I remember the NSync boy band craze and now I look back and am saying, what was I thinking! Bye Bye Bye, really?

There weren’t a lot of bumblebees but enough that you could tell, scarves, jewelry, etc. It was more the hoarding around and trying to take pictures of his every movement.

They could not get to the front of the stage to get on camera. They picked the really dressed up and young people and moved them to the pit area.

He just needs to keep breaking down barriers and keep going. He is going to be successful, heck he already is in a lot of the world. He brings such good karma (spirit, energy) whatever you want to call it; I believe that is why he still has his record deal. They know he can make them money, they just can’t get him in a box and people don’t like that. That is precisely why I admire him so much.
Hopefully, they can figure it out this time, they have to have ideas, right?

  13. luval says:

Lady North, Adam’s fans at American Idol were all sizes, shapes, colors and ages. They continued to follow him after Idol…the Idol tour was exactly the same fans. But after the AMA thing, some said “he’s not for me” but many many continued on because of the voice.

Even at Wilkes Barre, PA the first Glam Nation show there was a family that wore signs “4 generations of Adam Lambert fans”!! I really think there are many many fans out there of all ages that just don’t go on-line, are even aware of blogs, don’t know he had a second album…yet would see him in a New York minute if he came to their town.

  14. milwlovesadam says:

    luval, you are so right.

  19. eywflyer says:

Since this is a topic of conversation today I’ll state my opinion on Adams future – he doesn’t have one as a major musical artist in the US. Not getting the AI gig was the nail in the coffin. He is about to entirely vanish from any publicity whatsoever here in the US for the foreseeable future – with a down period followed by international dates followed by another period of studio work I guess.

I think he will move to Europe eventually. This may be sooner than we think, especially if Sauli’s immigration status here in the US becomes difficult in the near future. Remember that Adam & Sauli’s relationship means zero as far as US law is concerned, and that would still be the case even if they got married at some point.

I’m afraid we are in for a long dry spell once the international dates are wrapped up. Only hopes I see are that Adams management somehow gets him some TV gigs in spring & summer 2013, although I don’t know what those would be with no new material to promote, or more Queen gigs.

  20. LadyNorth says:

Luval, thanks for the answer! I should be in bed but Diva’s messed my sleeping schedule…

So AMAs was the first step. Do you think the same people watched Diva’s or is the target audience a bit different? Some of you have said that Adam would have needed more tv time around the album release. And I have read about that “fake” album publishing thing and many changed on the release schedule. Maybe one reason why they want him to make new music soon is that now when he’s getting more spotlight again, he should have new stuff to release on time. Just guessing. It’s very unfortunate if there are a lot of former fans who don’t know he has the 2nd album out.

I am also very curios what the new projects are. I hope it relates to music, those comedy things were a lot of fun but I don’t see him doing “basic acting”. He is best at acting himself! Own show, where the host sings every time? But before that, damn I am not complaining that he’s doing the international non-tour, it’s only natural that international glamberts want their share too! The enthusiasm about upcoming shows is very infectious…

3 am – got to say good night now, and thanks for the analytic view points again!

  21. milwlovesadam says:

    eywflyer, ITA.

    Unless.

What he hinted at is some TV or movie work here. He did talk about multiple projects. Who knows. It could be anything from music to movies to TV to fashion to judging and any combination thereof.

Sauli could get a work Visa here and stay and work. My husband did that before we got married. He had a visitor’s visa, enrolled in college, had a student visa, then a work visa after he graduated. Then we got married. It was a long and difficult process.

  22. Oksana2000 says:

Eywflyer, being European I don’t see that many countries that Adam would like to live in. Number one, climat. Language barrier. His family ties. He would have to make new friends.
I don’t remember if Finland is a part of EU, so Sauli might have the same problems with staying in countries other than Finland.
let’s not blame his lack of success with TS album on his fans, that is unfair.
I don’t know what his future will bring , he is versatile enough to try other things. Not everyone has to became Biebs.
BTW, I’m curious when Biebs will became a has been…

  23. Reese says:

Because many of you have been on this topic, thought I’d share this with you:
The following is actually from an email I sent to another Adam fan that I was lucky to find through the wonderful world that is Adamland. So, the first part will read more like a letter, than a post.
At the Warfield show: those around me were mainly youngens, who laughed and snickered at him pretty much the entire set. Things I overheard were: enough with the gloves, what’s up with the heels, what the hell is with the prancing…and when he would be sexy they would chuckle (and not in a good way). Many of them spoke (softly) throughout. It was really heartbreaking for me (BTW…I didn’t share this with my fellow glam-fans afterward because I didn’t want to bring them down after the gig.) Here’s my thoughts on Adam and the future…
    1. He will turn 31 in a month; he’s not a twenty-something anymore. For that reason, I kinda have to agree about the gloves. In the beginning I thought they were cool, but as time went on, not so much.
    2. IMO everything that is a negative about him/towards him has to be because he’s gay. I mean his voice is impeccable, his fashion sense is great (I’ll get back to that), he’s gorgeous, he’s funny, he’s extremely kind and nice. His music isn’t worse than Beibers, or Swift’s or these rap artists that make bank. So, it’s got to be the gay thing.
    3. He’ll NEVER have the younger crowd (Beiberish age) cuz he’s TOO old for them to dream about. The college aged to twenty-somethings tastes are all over the map, with so many going for the more Indie bands. So many young adults I talk to can’t stand pop, anything electro or top 40 crap. They absolutely despise it. I also think he’ll never really have an older male following because so many are homophobes, and/or just don’t like his pop stylized music. All of these examples limit his success, but it’s that way for almost every single artist out there. Most have their own niche audiences. Very few are loved by 8 – 80 year olds.
    4. Back to his fashion…..like so many of us, I want him to be himself and I adore him for it….but hey, sometimes the stuff he wears is OTT for normal human consumption. Also, his gay mannerisms and gestures on stage turns a lot of people off. He may need to take a look at reeling himself in to catch more mainstream audiences. Which, sadly is a bummer….he should be able to do what he wants and make a fortune in the process. Sometimes in life, to get where we want, we have to suck it up, re-position and move on. Everyone has to make compromises and concessions in their personalities and behaviors daily to be able to be socially acceptable, that includes gay people. (BTW, my comment is NOT meant as a slur. I just know that personally I have to be a better version of myself at work or I would face consequences.)

My friend and I have been saying (to each other) for years, that it would be so nice if the hardcore older lady fans (my age group btw) could take a step back for a bit. Allow the younger generations to be in the front rows, at the meet & greets, first in line etc. It pains me to see pics that are 90% over 50 y.o. fans because I think is some ways it damages his likeability. And, yes, the flipside is that WE older ones should be able to shake our booty and go crazy over our Idol.
I agree with someone up the thread who wrote about the kids not liking him cuz their grandma did. IMO that’s a really big factor. Kids want to be into “cool” things/music etc. BTW, I want to thank jlurks for all he does. I think his outreach with the Kiev DVD’s is an awesome example of how we can all help Adam…by spreading his music, talent, etc. to those around us that may not remember or know him but may enjoy him.

But like I said in #3…his growth potential may be small but still worth trying for. Question is how far will he have to bend to grab a larger slice of the pie?
I have also thought for a long time that we may lose him to Europe. IF that’s the case, it’ll be a real sad situation for the American fans.

I hope I’ve not offended anyone. Just wanted to offer my thoughts.

  24. luval says:

    Nice post Reese.

Why do I hear the voice of a bully at the Warfield? (the youngsters) Wonder if they could say that to his face? Snickering at someone who is different from them. I think Adam will know when to change his style. He lost years from struggling in Hollywood so he’s making up for them now. He obviously doesn’t care what other people think and neither do I in my life.

So those kids were One Republic fans? Fine. Some day they will learn when their own kids or themselves are criticized & laughed at. I tell ya, I have absolutely no place in my life anymore for fools. Just live and let live because it can all end at the snap of a finger.

As far as Adam and the U.S….Unless Adam loses his voice, Adam will be fine. This coming from Debbie Downer. After such a high on Sunday night I’m trying to keep it going.

I remember at the Jingle Ball I went to last year where there were many acts including Carly Rae Jepsen, The Wanted, Adam of course, these kids were texting & laughing and talking during every act!! I didn’t get it. What were they there for? lol.

btw. I like the gloves! Smile (and eyeliner and prancing and heels).

  25. Oksana2000 says:

Reese, thank you for your thoughts. Let me digest what you said (re Warfield concert). I have never been to any of his concerts so I have to rely on second hand recaps.
Maybe I am so used to Adam that I don’t see any gay gestures or gay mannerism, frankly, I don’t even know what are. Most male artist I see are either hip hop, country and a few band frontmen.(Adam levine),crooners (Buble), rest of the pop artists are girls.
I doubt that Adam will ever conform to what we want him to be or what sells the best. Hence his clothing choices and variations of Melvins.

  26. milwlovesadam says:

Reese, thank you so much. You said it well.

I remember early on after Idol, when some of us found each other in various places, reading about what attracted older fans, and mainly women to Adam. It all came down to sweetness, fashion flair, being articulate and funny. The voice of course was a prime reason. However, those of us who are truly over 39 in real numbers are old enough to remember the greats.

The greats were the stars who would be on shows like Carson and Merv Griffin and Carol Burnett. They were true multi-talents. They could sing, dance, act, and then be on a talk show and be witty and funny. They could be in a dramatic movie and then be on Carson and crack us up. Adam brought us back to that type of entertainer. They were people we looked up to, and looked forward to seeing.

We were attracted to Adam because he is the real deal. Yes, he could have been a real Broadway mega-star. But his appeal is so much bigger. The gay issue is a non-issue for people who enjoy this type of real-deal entertainment.

We all must be nostalgic for this type of entertainment. Younger kids just don’t get it and never will. They are bamboozled by Bieber types, can’t see past Taylor Swift.

Bruno’s popularity is a stand out. He’s cute, but not sexay. He puts on a very artsy and dramatic show. He killed on Ellen today, BTW. He sings well, writes a ton of music, and is number 1 right now. His band and singers all dance and dress alike, and brightly. They are full of choreography.

Adam’s sexy dancing and strutting are a throw-back. Nobody does what he does, and nobody has since probably Michael Jackson. Kids these days don’t remember even him. My kids only know of MJ as a pervert who was always on trial, and they scorned him, up until his death and saw videos of his greatness. Ricky Martin was pretty sexy, but, again, that was more than 10 years ago.

Belive me, Phillip Phillips won’t ever dance. Biebs grabs his non-crotch and it looks pathetic. Usher and his ilk are sexy, but to a certain demographic.

Miley’s number at Diva’s was so brave. She was fantastic, and sets a new precedent for sexy.

    I’m rambling…

  27. luval says:

mils…I LOVE YOUR POST!!!! ITA! Everything is good and will get better. I know it. The times they are a changin’ and the “entertainer” will return. Can’t wait.

  28. Oksana2000 says:

I think that Adam is like sushi. You either love it or hate it, nothing in between.
My Xmas wish. I want EP of songs sung like OOL or WWFM on Acoustic EP. No wailing, just his great gentle voice.
Yes, I said it. No wailing.

  29. luval says:

Well, that’s odd. Diva’s not on although it was in my TV guide. Even Lambertlust tweeted about it being repeated tonight. Maybe a different time IDK.

  30. riskylady says:

Wow, for a minute there I thought I was on the wrong blog. Frown
Just one thing: I am REALLY tired of hearing about the age thing, so let me just run this down again:
    Fergie 37
    Ryan Tedder 34
    Justin Hawkins 37
    Bruno Mars 28
    Jason Mraz 35
    Beyonce 31 (maybe 32 now)
    Nicki Minaj 30
    David guetta 45
    Pitbull 32
    Flo Rida 33
    Enrique Iglesias 37
    Kelly clarkson 30
    Adam Levine 33
    Christina Aguilera 32
Katy Perry 28 (could be 29 by now)
    J Lo 43
    Britney Spears 32
    Carrie Underwood 30
    Gotye 32
Pink 33 (could be 34 by now)
    Gwen Stefani 43

PLEASE DON’T MAKE ME DO THIS AGAIN, LOOKING UP THESE BIRTHDAYS IS TIME CONSUMING. Sweat Sweat
As you can plainly see, 30 is actually a little LOWER than the average. Can we just put this behind us now?
Sorry, I love you all and really don’t want to rant, but
    WTF?????
NO ONE cares more about Adam’s career than Adam. Ima just give him the benefit of the doubt that he will work his ass off – he already said he “feels the urgency to get new material out.”
He has a LOT of concerts ahead, but if he could work on FYE during the Idol tour, maybe he can work on new stuff while touring – email, etc. so that when he comes back he’s ready to just go in the studio and record like a son-of-a-bitch.
And, he HAS been gaining younger fans in the US, ever since PLL – they are on Twitter and active, but don’t have money to travel to out-of-town concerts maybe. But they’re driving up his YouTube and Vevo views and filling up the comment sections with lots of love, and those DO earn money (if you read the article I posted a while ago, Psy is earning $870k just from YouTube/Vevo views). In SF I met one – Misfits won’t quit (@cuckoo_glambert). She asked if anyone was going to SF, so I answered that yes. We exchanged seat info, so I went to find her at the theater and – surprise – it was this adorable 14-year-old blond. She was with her parents, also Adam fans, and we chatted a while. She watched Idol and has followed Adam ever since. Also behind me, two fans who loved him on Idol but don’t do Twitter or YouTube and did not know about the Divas show.
In front, one who went to London. All got one of jlurk‘s Kiev show DVDs, as did fans of One Republic sitting next to us (Queen fans).

There are artists in this country that do well and are not played on the radio, they perform. Adam is much better known, his name appears everywhere in articles of all kinds whether mentioning gay rights, guyliner, multioctave voices, I don’t think he will be forgotten in six months. Plenty of others tour overseas too. As long as he has that voice, he will be making buckets of money performing, and maybe – just maybe – he will have a big radio hit next time. He will be fine IMHO.
So, throw whatever you want – I don’t care…..I’m not even apologizing for this rant.

  31. Kradamour says:

Looks like I may move to Paris sooner rather than later. Just sayin.

Reese, thank you for a thoughtful and articulate post. I agree with virtually all of it.

I don’t think that Adam would ever leave the states for good – he has too many wonderful friends here, who obviously mean the world to him – but I can definitely see that Europe (or Australia or Japan) would be his base for making music. Many peeps have two homes – I am one of them, with homes in Virginia and Maine. Looking forward to adding a pied a terre in Paris to the mix (no, I’m not wealthy, we give up other things to make this possible).
I think that this would be good for Sauli, also, if their relationship continues.
    Mes deux sous.
    My two cents.

On another and delightful subject, Adam fans are the very, very best. Today I was very blue for a variety of RL issues, and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a perfect and generous gift from someone here on the blog!
    (Looking at you, mils)
    Heart

I almost worry when someone here posts about a gift or kindness done by another, because it runs the risk of seeming cliquish or “in crowd” when not everyone has the good fortune to have met or gotten to know other ALL-ers off the blog.
The thing that makes it okay is that I think we all know that given the opportunity, each of us would like nothing better than a giant reunion with a gift and hug exchange! Perhaps one day that will happen.
    Smile
