December has arrived and that means that 2012 will soon be over. Adam has been “trespassing” all around the world lately and currently finds himself in China and will wrap up his 2012 with a New Years Eve concert in Bali. But before the year ends with a bang there is plenty to do on his home turf. He heads to NY for “Cyndi Lauper and Friends” and a TV appearance, then hops across country for a radio event and a little “Diva” hosting thang.
A lot of holiday cheer to look forward to!
Choosing a photo for the monthly threads is never easy. However, it’s his most recent look that is getting attention. Since it may not last long, I thought that most of you would enjoy the look from the Mnet Awards – fierce, defiant, always unpredictable Adam.

Oh Kradamour we were cross posting! Thank you for your well thought out and very much looking on the bright side of our BBs next steps post! Agree regarding most of it and especially regarding the shaving (his face!) before Diva’s. Think that “melvin” looks great for a rock venue but a Diva deserves a smooth face.

Here’s one more thought. I just don’t see ANY Debbie Downer moments here people. He gave a very upbeat and candid interview to Lyndsey Parker, who certainly interpreted nothing downer in there.
He knew how to light his best features ( his “good” side, not with scars ).
He has multiple projects and many possibilities coming his way.
He looked and sounded fantastic.
I like the facial hair. I do. But he probably will shave for Sunday. Or not. Whatever, I like it.
He will be working on a new album. That is great news. He has a label that supports him.
He has a huge international fan base that drives his sales to top levels in many countries.
He acknowledges that his single choices didn’t work in the states this time.
He acknowledges that getting on the radio here is harder than he thought it would be.
One more thing, Bruno’s new album is getting rave reviews and high sales and lots of airplay. The descriptions of it are virtually identical to Trespassing. Variety of songs, MJ sound-alikes, dance and ballads, use of dubstep, and hard driving drum lines.
I like Bruno a lot. A lot. But, I just wish Adam could have had this kind of success here with this album, which I still think is genius.
Mils, loved your post but I would quibble only with the possessive pronoun here. I am not at all convinced that the single choices were his.
Fortunately, Adam has the satisfaction of knowing that you are not alone in that evaluation of Trespassing! The critics were more than kind.
I also wish, though, that his peers had spoken about it – tweeted about it – praised it – as Adam has so generously done for others.
Adam and Love to Love You Baby, is kill-ling me. Just killing me. Those moans. Those groans. Just the thought of it.
I’m wondering how they will stage his stuff, dancers, lighting, etc. Wonder if they’ll have boys. Wonder if he’ll do the lyrics in hot stuff like he did this summer, with “Gonna bring a hot man back home.” ???

And, yes, he had universally great reviews, but sales didn’t match the reviews. Bruno has great reviews and great sales. I don’t begrudge him his success. I just wish Adam could do as well too.
And Bruno was awesome on SNL.
One more thing, I just re-listened to the Lyndsey Parker interview, he used the word “networks” in the plural. He has been in contact with several television networks.
OMG. What for?? A special? A variety show? A talk show? A guest starring role? His own show????
This guys future is getting brighter and brighter by the minute.
I think others are simply jealous, greedy and don’t have the same basic approach to life that Adam does. He is just open and generous and loves music and loves to share. He is unique. He IS a special snowflake.
BTW. Have ya’all noticed how she is including Adam in more and more threads since that big brouhaha a couple of weeks ago? Maybe her accountant did an inventory and acquainted her with how good Adam is for her bottom line.
mils, agree with you about the jealousy. When Adam tweeted about Xtina and that song My Body or whatever it’s called, all she tweeted back was something like “aw…isn’t he sweet”. He’s praised her so many times and got nothing. Not that he was expecting anything but you get my point.

OT: Who saw American Horror Story last night? Wasn’t that absolutely a freak show??? So many pieces of the puzzle are coming together. And the casting of the psychiatrist was genius. Pure genius. She was the victim in Silence of the Lambs. Wild Bill and Bloody Face have something in common? Hunh? LOL. This show is so over the top it verges on camp. But I just love it. And now we have to wait a few weeks for the next episode.
One more thing about the interview, Lindsey asking him about Queen coming here…I got the impression that Adam was gently trying to say that although Queen is known all over the world & of course beloved in their own country, it might not work out here. I am really reading too much into this. But just my opinion at the moment. I”m sure it will change tomorrow! Good nite!

I doubt Queenbert will ever come to the U.S., luval. Where would the audience come from – just us and a few Queen fans (some to criticize perhaps)? And not sure Adam needs to be known as a Queen front man. If it was some sort of a one-off special concert – then OK. But doubt even that.
Been mulling over that RS diatribe and believe it’s the tip of the iceberg of an underlying animus against Adam in certain quarters of the music biz. They simply don’t take him seriously as an “artist” – whatever that means in their universe. The absolutely gratuitous venom by the RS “journalist” is a prime example.
As Adam said, when he “came out” four years ago, things were very different. Now being gay has almost become fashionable in the media. But Adam was first and suffered the consequences and, to my mind, still is.
Frank Ocean blabbed about his gay experience and everyone said how brave – how terrific to let it all out. I bet if Ocean kissed a guy on stage today the praise would continue, and he’d be even more admired.
There were too many nasty comments by djs when Adam was going around the radio stations to not, for me, come to the conclusion that they felt he was not “one of them.” Pretty much what Adam said – like high school – and he wasn’t one of the cool guys.
I don’t think radio is going to play him unless something radical happens. He’s older now – been around and not the next, new thing. His career, it would appear, will have to extend to “different projects” – and, fortunately, he is so multi-talented that he has many avenues open to him.
I love him more than I can say.
I have been listening carefully when Adam talks about Queenbert in the US, and in the beginning coming off the euphoria of the concerts it sounded much more likely.
As time has passed, the replies seem more cautious and circumspect. I do think that a US Queenbert is slipping away as the concerts recede.
I agree with ulti that more Queenbert concerts would add little or nothing to Adam as Adam; this isn’t his music or his direction.
AM excited about his comment about talking with networks. More Adam on TV would make me very happy…I would even hook up my TV for that!

And in spite of everything, Adam is creating and accumulating a body of work of which he can be very proud. And frankly, I count us as a part of his accomplishments – his efforts/generosity/accessibility have created the phenom that is the Glambert. We are known in the industry for our passion. We are Adam’s creatures, and I rather think that he is proud of us, too.

The only downer is that I haven’t been in the States to see any of his Trespassing nontour concerts. I was waiting to make plans until he announcs his real tour. I had thought the spring, but then he will be will be in the Far East and Europe (mostly places that I wouldn’t travel to alone) and now I have a possible wedding to attend in June and a trip to Peru in October that I might be able to combine with a US visit. I guess I have to see if there are any more concerts around the time that I could possibly be there. I wouldn’t go all that way just for a couple of songs at a big radio show, though. It would have to be an Adam concert.

rs, there are new good seats for sale for Adam’s concert in Finland, and many Finnish fans have extra tix too. You are more than welcome to join me, if it’s possible for you to travel to Finland when the concert is. I guarantee this is a safe country to travel, it’s easy to find information and service in English and I know a lot of glamberts around the Europe are coming. I’ve even seen some people from US are coming. I am sure fans will have tix to sell even later, if you can’t know yet.

The only song I don’t mind Johnny Rice dancing is Trespassing, which I doubt he’ll be doing but you never know. The boys will probably be part of a crew behind some of the Divas.

Can someone enlighten me about the RS situation? I see the same page as turquoisewaters, with a mention of Adam organizing the stuffing of the ballot box. I hope thats the worst comment. Someone suggested that there was another page, and a diatribe about “voter manipulation”.
Where is the diatribe and can someone show me the other page? Did RS write an editorial in response to fan comments? Please put my heart to rest on this.

I generally agree with ALL of the comments on the Fiasco cover shoot. I find all of the photo’s off-putting and intriguing at the same time.
There is something compelling about this very different Adam; an idea of what he might have looked like in a different, more repressive time. When I first saw the cover, he reminded me of my brother (very English and flat-haired in his early 60’s school uniform.)
The photographs push you to imagine a fully-realized personality in a place and time where such a blossoming would have been impossible; at the very least a source of powerful tension, even tragedy.
I wonder how Adam would have fared in those days and in a country like that. There are numerous plays about schoolboy life in the Mid-20thC. “History Boys” by Allen Bennett, who is gay, and “Another Country” which is about Guy Burgess and addresses, among other things, homosexuality in a boys boarding school. And there is also “Breaking the Code”, about Alan Turing, who broke both the Enigma code and the “straight” code of conduct. A man who saved England only to be destroyed by her. English literature is brilliant with stories about promising, apparently buttoned-down young men who managed to walk a straight line, even as they were crossing it.
A bit OTT, I know, but that is how I see these photo’s and that is what they make me think about. Fiasco is an English magazine and I would imagine they intended to evoke this period/feeling. Even if their readers don’t know who Adam is, once they read about him, they will have the sense of peeling off a layer and finding something quite different underneath. England is/was always about appearances.
It’s a brilliant shoot.

Mega-voting is not helpful. Even in radio, mega-voting hurts artists. Mediabase voting is managed by Mediabase. They process the requests and can easily see when people request on 30 different radio stations. They throw that stuff out- NO ONE can listen to more than a couple of radio stations regularly.
In reality, 6 or 7 requests to a radio station, per day, is a lot. If the rabid voters divided themselve up regionally and fan focussed on one MAJOR radio station each, listening for an hour, tweeting the DJ’s daily, participating in a few contests a month and voting on music polls once a week, their requests would definitely be listened to by the stations.
Honesty is the best policy.
As Adam said, Fiasco was going for a shoot that was “not me.” Think they succeeded very well in that goal.
Yes, TLKC, the worst part of RS’s hit was the gratuitous slam against Adam. They could use a little honesty.

LadyNorth, I have 3 different browsers downloaded to my computer: IE, google chrome, and Firefox. I usually use IE, so I downloaded a program that ron told me about onto firefox and I go there when I want to see stuff that is blocked. That way it doesn’t slow down my IE browser for normal use. I use google chrome for other things.
