Intellectually, yes I think he does. He is proud of his work and his study and application; knows for a fact that Brian May and other amazing peeps think a lot of his talent.
But there is still that overweight, dorky, un-cool high school student inside of Adam that will block some of the reality, and probably always will. Not necessarily a bad thing, I think. It will help him to stay grounded and not take the praise and adulation for granted. Someone else could definitely have become a monster by now.
I also think that un-cool kid part helps him in his craft. It’s part of the drive to get things right, make his music perfect.

Kalahari is an opera singer and huge Adam fan who has been on Juneau and Xena’s radio show, and has written about Adam’s voice. She is quite professional, but also quite the Glambot. She has met him, and talked opera with him. Her insights were interesting.
She also helped explain the, erm, effect, he experiences when singing. She claims it is merely a physical response of singing properly, from using his muscles properly to belt it out, from singing grounded in the groin, as it were.
She also says that she knows several male singers who also experience the effect, but are embarrassed by it, cover it up. She says that Adam seems to not have any fear of letting it show onstage!!

It’s so sad that the relationship between Monte, Adam and fans has deteriorated. I know as time goes on relationships change and some even separate. That I can handle. I just hate when they go south. People get hurt and that doesn’t have to happen. Everyone has a right to their opinions and it doesn’t make anyone more right than the other. It’s just sad.

mils Thank you for your kind words. She’s doing much better. She has 3 aneurysms and we think one of them had some more damage done to it. I just cross my fingers and pray a lot that she can live many, many years with this condition. I know a number of people much older than her who have beaten the odds. I want her to be one of them. I see many more Adam road trips in our future.

lists of favorites…yikes, I yield to you all! Can’t even begin to sort through the brain mass…Fantasy Springs WWL has to be on the list, though.
Maybe we need two lists: one of the just epic amazing talent performances, and another of the playful, joyful performances (like RayGay in Atlanta). RayGay wasn’t vocally amazing, but was definitely a landmark performance in a different way. Just a thought thrown out there to confuse the issue and make more work for our fearless leader, eywflyer…!
Someone asked back a ways if I was loving the Queen performance yet. Maybe I shouldn’t answer, but I just don’t like Queen. But as luval pointed out a while ago, I didn’t sign on for Queen, I signed on for Adam.
But here is what I do love: that Adam loves Queen, and that y’all love Queen, and that y’all love Adam with Queen. I don’t have to love it myself to take a huge amount of pleasure in the delight of peeps I care about. Because of you, I was excited and happy to see the performance and your comments and joy.
I don’t like old-school rock music, and I don’t particularly like Queen, but I can appreciate their talent. And through your eyes and posts, I can love Adam’s performance. And I definitely love that Queen appreciates Adam!

I thought this whole thing was a hot mess and not one of my favorites at all. I realize that I’m probably the only one here who feels this way. I’m okay with that.

nkd, didn’t have time to chat – there were people there from Paris and Scotland too so we were rushed.
But yeah, that was the Kesha kiss night. My pic was him singing (before lipstick smear) with left hand outstretched to audience, and beautiful blue-green coloring in the background. You could clearly see the makeup with black tears under eyes. I blew it up to 10×12. Pretty sure he remembered the night. To me, that was like mils said, our first look at true Adam after Idol. I loved Gridlock, but he pretty much behaved there.
