After what has seemed like an eternally long wait since Adam’s Glam Nation/FYE era ended, we have finally arrived at May 2012 – the month that Adam’s new album “Trespassing” will be released! The album will drop in the U.S. & Canada on May 15th. Lucky fans in New Zealand & Japan will get the album a few days earlier on May 11th, Australia & Germany a few days later on May 18th, while some other European countries (U.K., Ireland, France) will have to wait until July. In addition to the album release, we can look forward to three concerts with Adam headlining this month, the KRZ Summer Bash in Wilkes-Barre PA on May 25th, at Six Flags New England on May 26th, and the Freshtival in National Harbor MD on May 27th. We will also see Adam perform on American Idol May 17th, will have the official push of “Never Close Our Eyes” to pop radio beginning on May 29, and may see the music video for NCOE later this month as well!

I actually think Priscilla is there tonight because they are taping after this show is over. It isn’t uncommon. I really don’t think many of the guest are live. I took my Adam box set to work and got rave reviews, even from folks who weren’t fans. It seems impossible but some folks don’t know who Adam is. They know now as the box and it’s contents got their attention. Back to watching Idol. I’ve watched since season one and old habits are hard to break.

Hi Luval! I don’t think Canadian figures factor into the US at all and have no idea how Adam’s doing here, although the HMV at 272 Queen Street has pretty much sold 200 LOL!
I was talking with Ron this evening and my forecast has always been 80,000.
A) 60% sophomore slump (FYE opened at 198,000).
B) I figured that Adam could double his acoustic cd sales (40,000 released and all sold.)
C) BTIKM sold 66,000 downloads (all bought by dedicated Glamberts.) Factor in all the fans who bought the cd on AO and downloaded the single for free (i.e. didn’t buy one) and that could be approx. 84,000.
D) Double the GN DVD sales – I think Adam did between 40-50,000 and that could be 80-100,000.
80,000 figure or slightly better just kept popping up.
Ron, NCOE is being played by a number of stations both in the US and Canada. It just hasn’t OFFICIALLY gone for ADDs yet. That happens on the 28th for HAC and the 29th for CHR. Some of the stations whose concerts Adam is doing are playing it; that is how it’s gotten to #42 on HAC.

Hey Ron, they are asking us to request NCOE so that it gets a good head start on the radio when it is released on May 28th. I am requesting every morning on Chum by writing it in. Apparently Richie Favalaro has said they are going to play it.
Hope Adam gets to Sirius Radio and does his mini concert next week. They had promised to play it on Memorial Day

Forgot to mention that Glee fans are tweeting about Adam’s cd, too. The hug was so sweet and you can see that Adam pushes forward in the gif – it was heartfelt and I bet they loved that as much as we love it went another star is sweet to Adam.

Hi riskylady!! Thank you. That explains the confusion I’m reading that there are two singles that have been released from “Trespassing”. If I heard NCOE on the radio, it would never occur to me to question if had been released. It’s on the radio … it’s released.
It’s just that I’ve read elsewhere peeps wanting to point out that NCOE isn’t “burning up the charts” because radio doesn’t want to play it. I wanted to “suggest” that’s because it hasn’t been released yet

I do love the fierce open-ness of so many of Adam’s recent interviews. It is easier to be fierce when you know you have just executive produced/co-wrote/recorded an album as amazing as Trespassing and getting great reviews that you can point to and sort of say “Okay, well just get a load of that!”
Whatever happens, Adam cannot be anything but proud of this accomplished piece of work.
I feel a bit sad about the fact that he does feel that some people treat him as a punchline – I wonder if this interview was done after his Chelsea Handler appearance. I’m not a big fan of hers. Her round table is dreadul – I rarely watch her for more than 5 minutes before turning the channel. I wouldn’t say she was homphobic but her line of questioning trivialized him. I can’t see the value of an interview like that.

Finally watched the whole Billboard Q&A video…wow. Really loved it. Someone posted that the interviewer could have been more engaged/lively…true, but I do like these calmer interviews where Adam has the time to reflect and talk, because he really likes to answer questions fully.
He said very complimentary things about Bieber as an artist, as a person, and about his song. (Which I really like, btw, there is an interesting sophistication to it)
Interesting that he talked about the Jimmy Kimmel show and that being the first time that he had performed some of these songs for fans, and that he was struck by the interaction and that it made the songs real (bad paraphrasing here). We have often posted that he needs to run songs by fans before deciding album tracks. It seems that most of us would have stopped him from including Kickin’ In, for example (but I am on the fence about that one. I think it should have been a bonus track, but it has a strange power to it, hard and cold in ways that nothing else on the album is).

My mother watched Jimmy Kimmel last night and Adam was on. She has never seen him perform before, that I know of.
So she called me and told me that she had watched because I like him. Said he seems like “a very nice young man”, very clean cut, and isn’t it interesting that most of his fans in the audience were middle-aged women?
She didn’t like his music but she said he has a nice voice, wondered if I knew he had a new album coming out and did I plan to buy it? (If she only knew…). I asked if she wanted to borrow it to listen to and she said no thank you, but she thought it was nice that I was supporting him, he is talented and needs support from fans to be successful.
It was an interesting conversation, the only time in my life that my mother has discussed popular music with me except to announce in the 60s that she didn’t like the Beatles.

Being a novice about concerts, is a FREE concert at San Francisco Golden Gate Park a good idea or will I be shut out by all the knowledgeable concert goers and find myself overwhelmed—Please help as San Francisco is so near I can’t deny myself trying to attend!!!!!!

I have these thoughts sometimes as well, but I think this Chelsea appearance was so much better than the last (that one really made me cringe). The value is certainly not in the content, but there is still value: everyone can see 1) how fab he looks these days (shallow but important in the business) 2) how engaging and well-spoken he is 3) that he is actually not that scary/weird – he clarified that very well after the uncalled-for rape comment. So I think the casual viewer walked away with a positive impression.

The saddest I’ve ever felt for Adam though is when he recently described being at the Grammy’s and he felt as though he was back in High School. The outcast. Nobody likes me. Some embraced him but too many didn’t want to have anything to do with him. The videos I’ve watched from that night, he looked great and appeared happy. Of course, that’s the “show” in show business.
It means so much to me for Adam to be recognized, acknowledged … accepted … by the Grammy’s, his peers, for his work on “Trespassing”.
Maybe I’ll tell him that I think he should bring a little red wagon to the next Grammy’s to make it easier for him to take home all of the awards he’s going to win that night.

wow, I’ve just had about 6 pages to catch up on, so am losing track of who’s got what, or going where, so congratulations to every one that has got tickets to concerts, meet and greets, and sons going to med school!!! There, that should cover all the bases…
re numbers, 70-80k is actually higher than I was expecting if I’m honest, given that BTIKM had opening sales of 39k and NCOE 29k. I was thinking more around 50k, so anything above that I’m happy with. I’d be happy with continued decent sales, rather than mega opening week, then a massive decline.
Channel V keeps running a great Adam advert for his GNT shoe tomorrow (18th), and is still playing his BTIKM video.

OK, guys, for what its worth, here are my impressions/recap of yesterday’s iheartradio concert in NYC!
As most of you know, I only found out I won my tickets from MJ about 6 hours before the show. My daughter (who I couldn’t reach at first) couldn’t come due to finals. By that time, it was too late for Sparkle to have made it to NY in time for the 4 pm door opening so I texted another Glambert friend who lives about half an hour from me that I won 2 tickets and she should call me ASAP. She is a teacher and called me back immediately. After yelling OMG OMG several times into the phone (and startling both kids and other staff members in the lunch room!), she instantly started thinking of excuses why she could leave school early to get here in time for the show!! She managed to find someone to cover for her, drove to my house and we were off!
Upon arrival at the studio, there was already a line of people waiting to get in. We were among the last to arrive, but the studio was very small, and there were only 200 people there, so even the last people (us) were still really close to the stage–maybe 25 feet from Adam! There were some SPGs who I recognized from other shows, but there were also lots of younger fans in line. I was thrilled to see many hip young people (probably college age.) I hope this is an indication that he is developing a younger fan base!! Most of them had won tickets through radio promos and most knew the words to even the new songs!! Some carried copies of Trespassing, hoping to get it signed, but alas, that didn’t happen. Adam actually left very quickly after the show because they had to catch a flight back to LA. (Ron, I never got to give him the heads up for Toronto! You are on your own, babe!!!) Anyhow, I digress. Back to the show…..
He opened with Trespassing, which was fun. It set the tone for a light, fun time. Adam seemed very relaxed and happy. he mentioned that it was the record release date, at which time the audience spontaneously started shouting “number 1” which was great! He got a huge grin on his face. The then moved onto Kickin In, which was well received. (Everything was!!) I have read that he should replace that in concerts but I would disagree. It went over well, and he seemed to have a great time singing it. He then said something like “lets get nasty” and sang Shady—sooooo great!!
He then sand WWFM, which surprised me, but I guess was a gesture to the non-uber fans who might be listening on the radio or when the show got re-broadcast to a wider audience. It was a nice rendition of WWFM, which was never my favorite during GN, but sounded great here. Next came Broken English and Chokehold, both of which were hauntingly beautiful. At that point, Adam had some banter about relationships, which sounded very stilted and rehashed from GN. (IMHO, he needs to up his game on the banter. For someone who is such a natural talker, he needs to talk off the cuff a little more and sound less stiff in this regard.)
He then brought the crowd up again, with Naked Love and Cuckoo. I loved the live version of Cuckoo and how he toys with the song. They are both such great party songs and everyone in the audience was moving to the beat!!! I just love watching him move, and seeing his facial expressions. He is such a natural performer. He concluded with NCOE, which was also better live for me than on the cd.
It also happened to be really hot in the studio. Several times, he mentioned how hot he was. 3 teenagers were standing right next to me and one of them kept yelling “take off your jacket” and “I love you Adam” during the show. Finally, Adam responded that she should take off her jacket, and that he loved her too and she almost fainted!!! She kept saying to her friends “OMG!! He talked to me!!! Adam F*cking Lambert actually spoke to me!!! This is the best birthday present ever!!!” She was so excited. He did wind up taking off his jacket, and said something funny, like he was ruining the outfit by taking off the jacket!! He also referred to himself as “some guy in a silk leopard shirt sweating his ass off” when he introduced the band, but then he said “the leopard is fierce” so it was ok!!
Personally, I am looking forward to this tour. I absolutely loved GN, but I think this will be better. Less staged, less choreographed, and more of the “real” Adam. The backup singers add a lot and I didn’t miss the dancers at all. I hope he incorporates some of the music from FYE so that his new shows will be longer than they have been. This show was about 40 minutes but I would swear it felt like 5 minutes! Time has no meaning in an Adam Lambert concert!!!

mils, I think it means that sales from AO aren’t included in HDD’s prediction, so AO sales still have to be added for the final numbers.
ETA: Just read that although HDD doesn’t have access to the sales from AO, they are pretty good at predicting those sales, so it’s probably not true that all of those still have to be added.

If he already taped it, I will just cry-but not so hard since my daughter and I have now bought 14 tickets to his Costa Mesa concert! Can’t wait since it is on my big Bday! 29 and holding!
By the way-when I went to Target yesterday to get my CD, I bought the last deluxe one. Sold out! It’s much easier to buy the hard CD, and pop it in the car, then to try to download from ITunes. Guess thats what happens when you’re 29.

YAY! That Glee Graduation album was just a temporary glitch at #1
I woke up this morning with the lines from Take Back in my head and thinking about the numbers and what if he doesn’t make it big with this album. Of course we could start playing blaming games and put it down to the wrong singles or the PDs at the radio stations or the illegal downloads or just the fickleness and immaturity of the listening audience. But the fact of the matter is that Adam has worked his precious little butt off (and still is) and there is no one who has worked harder than him. He has done everything he possibly could, short of changing who he is (and none of us want that!!!!!!) to break the barriers and fit in. There is a Hebrew expression which loosely translated says that only in his own city is a prophet not given honor. If John Q Public and the masses can’t apreciate Adam’s message and incredible talent, well then, let’s keep him for those of us who do cherish and value him for who he is and what he can give.
Of course I totally expect him to become a Global Superstar and to have the world, including the United States, at his feet!
I can’t wait to see Adam on Idol tonight.
What is he going to wear? Another leopard with stars shirt?
