Exciting times are upon us as July begins! Adam has just completed an outstanding first full length concert with Queen at a charity event in Kiev, Ukraine (as captured in the photo above). Five more Queen + Adam Lambert concerts are lined up for Moscow, Wroclaw (Poland) and London during the next couple of weeks. Adam will then return to the United States to play a series of solo concerts during the second half of the month, including gigs in Costa Mesa, Sacramento, Des Moines, Thackerville (Oklahoma), and a much anticipated return to the site of one of his first and most memorable concerts at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. All told, Adam will perform in 10 live concerts this month, which will make this his busiest month for live performances since November 2010 when he was in the European portion of the Glam Nation Tour. Right now I am in the lobby waiting for Adam to arrive along with many other people. I do recognize some from past shows. Rockin Ron is here and said he heard Adam was on his way. There are a couple of hotel staff at the doors ready to open them for Adam and probably Sauli. Rockin Ron heard they are driving in.

I can’t believe that they would offer Mariah 15M! If they would put the money that they spend on judges toward developing the careers of the talent that they find on the show perhaps they might actually have some top artists out there. But Idol is a TV show that makes most of its money from ads and probably not by selling music.

That hurts. Obviously he can’t command the salary of a Mariah Carey…but I think that he would bring at least as much value as a judge.
It is probably true that his management is being pressed for a very, very lowball contract, with the argument that Adam needs Idol more than Idol needs him yada yada…
But on the backstage interview that AL posted on the Endfest thread, Adam was pretty firm that the rumors had NOT ended (or something like that) – I really got the impression that it was a serious negotiation. Here is the interview (a nice one!):

HEH, Since we are all so well informed on here, it would be fun to have a poll whether we think Adam should be a judge or not, and reasons why he should or not. Not that it will make a difference, to Idol or Adam, lol.
Me, I think he should go for it, not because of the obvious reasons of being on TV every week, but exposing him (AHEM) to more people to see what a great guy he is, and lets face it he certainly should get to sing a song or two, hell we had to see and listen to JLO all season. And above all, he will really be helpful to the kids, they all dont need to strut around like Adam, but put some life in their lifeless bodies.
So for me– for you I say YES!
I just posted the second half of my too-long impressions from the London Shows (not a proper recap) on the July 12th concert thread if anybody is interested.
I’m all for Adam on tv. Idol will let his personality shine through. Everyday people only remember what they see on the news–whether the disastrous AMAs or pictures of his GN costume with lots of makeup or pictures of him and Tommy kissing. People need to see him as a real person who has a theatrical flair when performing. I don’t even care if he sings on the show (well, of course I DO)but if he did, people would see how much he’s matured since Idol days.
Plus, I think he is tremendously qualified, and would give his honest opinion. I don’t care what others say about him not winning. It was never about winning for him, it was about getting noticed and having opportunities that he otherwise would not have had. If he had really wanted to win, he might have used a slightly different strategy. He could have made us all cry every performance if he’d wanted to.
Interesting thought, ellessay. I think I agree – but it wouldn’t have been winning on his terms, so he didn’t.

Just got back 915pm EDT. Had to get up this am at 430. Long long day of runnin’ running’ runnin’ from plane to plane. Started with a 2 hour delay and it snowballed after that.
Anyway, I will post a recap on the FS thread tomorrow or Tuesday. My impressions. My brother’s too…he has never seen Adam in person. And I’ll clarify a few things.

I was watching part of playlist on ChannelV earlier, and Adams NCOE was on. The playlist was chosen by a presumably young HK fan, as the other videos I saw on it were Greyson Chance, Demi Lovato and 1D. Just thought it was nice that he was chosen by a young person.
And a little while ago some crime show was being advertised on AXN and Shady was being played in the background
Well I am home safe and sound in Albuquerque and just want to say THANK YOU to all of you that made my trip SOOOO much fun. Jill hooked my SIL and I with some amazing last minute tickets up close at Costa Mesa to see Adam put on a great show. I was so horse the next day from screaming and singing along. Thank you to Kathy (k_in_cal) for the ticket to FS for anAMAZING show. Adam was in rare form, I’ll tell you! What a blast!
And finally, a HUGE thank you to France for hauling me around to Disneyland and both concerts. You are an amazing person to do that for a total stranger. We had so much fun!

I wouldn’t doubt it was. I live in South Dakota and we have a lot of Native American reservations nearby. Also my partner is a Native person. I totally understand Adam’s reaction to those audience members from the tribe. By nature they are a very stoic people. Public expression when away from their own is very reserved. To stand like we do at a concert is not a normal for them. Now I’m painting a wide brush here. Please know I don’t mean every one of them is the same. But in generalities that is their behavior. If the tribal elder was there the rest would only do what the elder did out of respect.
We used to sell food in the parks when there was an art festival and we did some pow wows. When we were selling to the “white” culture, people waiting for our food formed a line and waited their turn in that line. Once at a pow wow we were swamped with people. I was working the front with orders, money, drinks and food delivery when cooked. I lost track of who I had waited on and who was next. At one point I forgot where I was at and turned around to the crowd and announced that if they would get in a line they would be helped in the order they had come to the booth. The place got real quiet and I was met with blank stares by everyone in front of me. You see with them they don’t care when they are waited on – they know their turn will come up. So lines aren’t necessary. They spend their time waiting, talking and laughing with the others waiting. After some awkward silence I got back to my job and got them all their food and on their merry way they went. A rather powerful lesson was given to me that night!
So with them sitting in front being who they are my heart was going out to Adam when he tried to get them up on their feet. Two cultures collide!! I’m just glad it worked out for both of them. Adam gave his fans an out of this world show and those natives made money.
