December has arrived and that means that 2012 will soon be over. Adam has been “trespassing” all around the world lately and currently finds himself in China and will wrap up his 2012 with a New Years Eve concert in Bali. But before the year ends with a bang there is plenty to do on his home turf. He heads to NY for “Cyndi Lauper and Friends” and a TV appearance, then hops across country for a radio event and a little “Diva” hosting thang.
A lot of holiday cheer to look forward to!

HK, so sad. It’s so hard to discuss suicide with kids. Hopefully they will have counselors at school to help with this.

I loved Phil Donahue, Merv Griffin, Mike Douglas for daytime.
We are all grieving here. Two girl cousins 8 and 10 out for a bike ride in a small town that adjoins ours went missing July 13th. Their bodies were found Friday by deer hunters about 20 miles from where they disappeared. Our whole area has been in shock for months. Pink ribbons everywhere and large rewards being offer by private citizens. No ending for this would have been good but this came as a shock. Both attended large grade schools where children are now learning about evil in the world. HK death happening so unnatural is always hard for children and adults to understand.
hkfan: very sad. You can’t help but think of his family and also his students. Kids look up to the adults in their lives so much, what are they supposed to make of suicide? Suicide always creates very mixed feelings for me. On the one hand it’s just so sad that someone is so desperate they would chose death. On the other hand I always feel like if you have kids in the house, quitting should not be an option.

The evil involved in the deaths of innocents, JOJOSIE, is beyond comprehension. It’s the ultimate horror – no way to accept it – forget it – forgive it. Every parent’s nightmare. No answer.

There are 3 brothers missing here in MI, from a very small town near here. It was a year on Thanksgiving. They went to visit their father for the day, he says he handed them over to a group to protect them from their mother(she had full custody) They have never been found. They convicted the father on unlawful imprisonment, and he got 10 to 15 years.
HKFan, I teach in a school whose principal committed suicide two years ago. It is a high school – at the time, students were upset but less than they would have been by the suicide of a fellow student. They were horrified but didn’t really see it as something that had much to do with them personally. They moved on quickly. May it be the same for your school.
Agree that quitting shouldn’t be an option for those with children – the ultimate abandonment. I have a friend whose mother committed suicide when he was 14. He still hasn’t recovered 35 years later, and has never married. So sad.
But I also believe that for some, life is so unbearable that even children aren’t enough to force continued life.
I have known several other suicides in my life and the pain for those left behind – family and loved ones – is almost unbearable. At one time we thought that my brother had committed suicide, it was later found to be a murder, and that resolution meant the world to my mother. Death is final, of course, regardless of the cause, but suicide leaves the survivors second-guessing their actions and responses forever.
Jojosie, I remember your posts about the two girls’ disappearence. I pray that their ordeal was short and that their families and the community can begin the road to healing.

HJ Fan and Jojosie what terrible tragedies those families and your communities are going through. The world can be a very cruel place.
And on a different note…….I just hope that Adam isn’t reading this blog. You saw his reaction at the signing after Wendy’s show when someone told him not to shave Melvin. Adam hates to be told what to do! Too many people telling him to shave is probably a surefire method of getting him not to. (I happen to love it, though.) Mils, please keep quiet about the head shaving thing, you will put ideas into his head and that is the one thing I really don’t want to see happen. If there is anything Adam hates more than being told what to do, it is being told what not to do!

It’s always difficult to face a suicide but especially how to explain it to the kid… And sad to that man’s family.
There has been some very shocking incidences here during past couple of years, when a family man facing some kind of a failure in life (work, economical etc) has first killed his kids and wife and then himself
