Exciting times are upon us as July begins! Adam has just completed an outstanding first full length concert with Queen at a charity event in Kiev, Ukraine (as captured in the photo above). Five more Queen + Adam Lambert concerts are lined up for Moscow, Wroclaw (Poland) and London during the next couple of weeks. Adam will then return to the United States to play a series of solo concerts during the second half of the month, including gigs in Costa Mesa, Sacramento, Des Moines, Thackerville (Oklahoma), and a much anticipated return to the site of one of his first and most memorable concerts at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. All told, Adam will perform in 10 live concerts this month, which will make this his busiest month for live performances since November 2010 when he was in the European portion of the Glam Nation Tour. Oh, and luval, I’m glad you remembered back down the line somewhere about Adam saying something about not singing Another One Bites the Dust. I hadn’t remembered the context of the situation in which he said it. I’m not totally crazy, I guess.

I just had to post the rest of Brian May’s comment from his website yesterday. I think it nails more reasons why the show was such a hit, implies that there is a future for the collaboration, and shows what a nice – and smart – guy Brian is. (Adamland posted the first bit and the link at the top of the previous page.)

Ooh, so much speculation about Adam and Idol. It just might happen. He does seem to be a favorite son of the producers. I would much rather see him as a special mentor, one who comes back several times, maybe seeing him focus on specific contestants and helping them build as individuals.

I still really like the medges. I think they make him look like some kind of Raptor as he struts on the stage, especially when he has on his spiked jacket and as he walks away from the front of the stage and back toward the drummers/his watering hole, lol.

I finally got to watch Thursday’s show last night. Starting Thursday morning, I put in a grueling 35 hour “shift” with only about 2 hours sleep. Last night my reward was my favorite treat of Lambic and Lambert, Belgian beer and American sex/rock god. The beer is best cold and the rock god live, but sometimes You Tube videos will just have to suffice. (sparkle will remember this combo from WB.) The 2nd London show had so many amazing moments, the hilarious split pants, the Fantasy Springs WLL-esque AOBTD, and the out of this world vocals. I love that Adam has the latitude now to truly be himself on stage with Queen.
As I said before, Adam was born to sing this music. With Queen he has the songs and the band that match up to and showcase his remarkable talent. I think that his most immediate path to fame, fortune and, most importantly, credibility is to collaborate with Queen as much as he can. Look at all the new fans he’s acquiring through these shows. At the same time he can continue to create and perform his own music for his (hopefully growing) fanbase. We’ll happily provide a “safe” environment for him to be as creative as he wants at the smaller venues. If Adam can multitask enough to work in some capacity with Idol, then that’s fine. As much as I think he’d be a excellent judge and would love to see him on Idol every week, I don’t want an Idol gig to get in the way of his creating and performing music himself. I agree that mentoring might be better, but we’ll have to trust Adam’s judgement on this if he is approached by Idol.
Well, it’s just about time for the livestream. What is he going to wear to replace the laces??? We’ll soon see.
So Queen will be playing at the Olympics, just no mention of Adam. Too bad.

. Guess you have to be British to perform at the London Olympics.
So who would be singing for them, anyone else will be a let down.

mmm222: You make very good points re Adam’s career strategy. He has some decisions to make how to best move forward from here. I think the Queen gigs are an excellent vehicle for him to showcase his skills, but in the end he should be his own person. He wouldn’t want to go down with an aging rock group, or with an aging TV Show like Idol. Yet in the interim both can be tremendously helpful to get his name out there.
(If he really does Idol, that would be WW3 at a certain blog, I can’t even imagine.)

When she wore the famous hat to sing at Obama’s inauguration, the milliner got flooded with requests for it. She went back to them and tried to get payed for “advertisement”, I will guarantee she was given the hat to begin with. Loved her singing once, can’t stand the person.

As Adam isn’t eligible to sing with Queen at the Olympics, instead of an individual performing with them, perhaps a large group of people. A huge choir made up of children, say, singing “We Are The Champions”. It’s been done before but it could be very effective.
I think it would take 200 children to equal 1 Adam Lambert.

I get that everyone is supposed to be British, but the band is British. Are they doing a pedigree on every performer, in every group? They can’t have a lead singer, within the group, who is from another country?
Another thing I don’t get with the program is in the past a lot of the performances were kept secret, here they seem to be announcing everything.
The very last line is telling. There still may be changes, not a final list. I wonder if Adam could be a surprise guest? Like at the EMA’s?

Mary J. was a guest judge for their tryouts one season. Seems like there were two shows with her on them. I think she was there for one of the Atlanta tryouts maybe. I thought she did okay. Plus, I like her a lot. From what I have heard of her personal life, she has had a lot to overcome and has done it admirably.
ETA: yes, she was there for Atlanta in 2010.
