September finds blond Adam back in the US after a busy August touring Japan and Australia. What’s in store for us this month? A third single announcement? Confirmation about Idol judges (is Adam one of them?!)? More speculation of a Queen+Adam tour or possibly an actual Trespassing tour? Will he add more shows in the coming months? Even Adam’s hairdresser does not know for sure. So while we wait, continue to chat away about anything and everything Adam related. Enjoy!

Following the whole discussion on MJs about Idol bubble I made a very simple test yesterday. I have 2 friends who never watched American Idol.
I started quoting names of winners and some non-winners. The result:
They heard about Kelly, Carrie, JHud (movies), Jordin (Whitney Houston movie) and …. Adam Lambert!! Even Daughtry’s name didn’t ring a bell, and forget about WGWG’s.
IMO Adam is definately out of bubble..

I updated the numbers page for the first time in a while:

There isn’t really any good news to report unfortunately.

The most recent album numbers I could find were for August 6-19, when Trespassing sold about 3K during the two week period. Its U.S. sales total through August 19 was about 151,000.

Trespassing the single has not appeared on any Hot AC or Top 40 charts yet of course, as the single has not been officially released nor officially sent to radio. So far, it has picked up 3 adds on HAC, one from KDMX Dallas (the station sponsoring the Texas Tango concert – funny how that works), the other two from KCIX Boise and KWYE Fresno (both of which are strong Adam supporters that also added the previous two singles early in their cycles).

The single has also picked up a few adds on Canadian Top 40 and HAC radio.

We’ll see what happens in the next several weeks, but I wouldn’t expect a major promo push from RCA at this point, given the lack of results from the first two singles. That’s why I’m so bummed that Adam didn’t get the AI gig, as that weekly TV exposure this coming winter and spring would have been invaluable. Unless Trespassing unexpectedly becomes a major hit single, Adam is going to have to find another path.

eywflyer, I wonder what caused sudden jump of TS on Amazon and iTunes in past two weeks.I think that he still sells around 2000/week but we can’t see the numbers. Brian has access to country charts only and if Scotty sells 2000/week so does Adam. Scotty’s position is lower than Adam’s.

Well, Oksana, I see that Glambotgram has responded about the toast post. Sorry I missed the 2000th post in this thread. That seems to be the norm for all threads now so I was saving the toaster oven for when we get 3000 this time.

But this week in particular gives lots of room for optimism (actually, I am always optimistic for Adam overall; he may not have the “typical” pop trajectory, but what is “typical” now?).

His sudden appearance at the Maryland Marriage Equality gig means that someone thought of him and wanted him to be “the” performer for this high-profile event. How cool is that? Remember when he wasn’t gay enough?

I honestly don’t think that album sales mean nearly as much as they did even a year or two ago in relation to performances. Adam is making plenty of money, is becoming well-known, is gaining younger fans and droves of international fans. and doing what he wants to do with no apparent end in sight, and enjoying lots of shopping opportunities in foreign locales.
And, assuming that RCA allows him another album (and they would be foolish not to, IMHO, and they have shown themselves to be patient when it comes to Adam), they might have sense enough to let him choose the singles and to say no-thank-you to last-minute “help” from the likes of Bruno Mars. They might also time releases better and have the videos ready when the songs are released. Not to mention release to radio in some way other than this half-*ssed dribs and drabs.
The learning curve for Adam has been longer than for some others, and I do think that there is some pushback because he is gay.
But worried?

I just read on twitter that Sauli may be going back to Finland while Adam is traveling overseas this time. I’m sure he’s trying to keep himself in news there and keep some kind of celebrity presence . I think he’s some one who needs to keep his individuality. I love what he said in Fault,”I don’t care if my partner is a celebrity or not, it’s the private relationship that matters.” I have lots of love for Sauli and am so glad he’s come into Adam’s life as they seem to make each other happy.

As far as our host, eywflyer’s comments posted a page or so ago, I’m trying to stay positive. Adam has so many things in the near future on his plate. And more things keep popping up almost every day. I’m very hopeful for more.

If Trespassing doesn’t get airplay, I still don’t think the label will drop him. He’s an international star.

I wish we had access to international sales numbers.

Conflicted, because I REALLY want more Queen gigs!!!
I do have faith they are planning something, and we know now that Queen will not reveal anything until all the loose ends are tied up, even merchandise, etc.
Anyway, if he recorded 40-50 songs, he could probably pull another album, or at least maybe a couple of EPs out of there. That would be interesting.
And, Map and By the Rules should definitely be released somehow in the US, maybe with a few of the other unused songs. Just sayin’…..

Love that short Aussie interview. It seems a very long time since we have seen a pic of Adam and Sauli together, about time we had another one.

I was listening to an Aussie radio station on line earlier and they played a song with a couple of f**ks in it, (although with a warning before hand), and I thought poor old Adam even gets his ass deleted in the US!!

I am off to Hamilton today to have “tea at the Pitz” at a Glambert’s home; delightful echo of our tea at the Ritz in July. Several Glamberts getting together for a bit of fun and Adam catch-up.

Next Saturday night, Adbert Daily has booked a place for Adam karaoke in honour of a San Franciscan Glambert who is visiting Toronto. Brushing up on Running… seriously kidding here. What should a tone deaf person sing?

Popped in to MJ’s (couldn’t help myself yesterday) and I see that Carly Rae Jephson, who has a monster single hit with “Call Me Maybe”, has only sold 40,000 cds in her first week. The cd news is bad all around. It could be going the way of of the dinosaur. In that context, I don’t think Adam’s cd sales are a nail in his coffin.

If he was at 151,000 in August, he should hit 200,000 by year-end: 16 weeks X 2,000 plus a bit of Christmas gifting.

I know it’s sad that Adam hasn’t had a radio hit yet but he said, way back when, that he wouldn’t tour until 2013 and would spend most of his time in 2012 on radio promo so they obviously had a plan in place that worked on the premise that it would take a few times to succeed. (I heard “3 or 4” singles come out of his mouth.)

His management company isn’t dropping him any time soon. He is filling decent-sized venues and they are making money on his performances.

He is riding that difficult Idol wave much better than most.
