September was a month full of surprises – Adam on Idol, Adam out and about and then to wrap up the month, the announcement of the UK and European Q+AL tour in early 2015. Can’t wait to see what October has in store! In the meantime, we’ll continue with the weekly walk down memory lane and revisit the summer’s concerts.

    We have cows walking around our neighbourhood…not dear….Our village has a herd of wild cows, that graze on the verges and are often seen walking down the roads in the village…

    You may have answered a big question mark for me.

    I’ve always wondered about Adam’s reaction to what I said to him when he and I met on May 28, 2012 at the Autograph Session for “Trespassing” here in Toronto.

    What I said wasn’t spontaneous, I’d gone over it a few times in my mind, and it was: “You and Sauli should bring a little red wagon with you to the Grammy’s because you’re going to need it to bring home all the awards you’re going to win that night”.

    With that, he threw his head back – so very similar to the video – but, at the exact moment that Adam was doing this, one of the security guards said, “Okay, that’s enough. Move on now” and I immediately took a few steps backward to leave. I was holding up the photo towards Adam that he had just signed for me and said “Thank you so much” and he said, “Thank YOU, man”. Then I turned and left.

    Why did Adam react by throwing his head back? What did it mean? I’ve since then been puzzled. Was he happy with what I said? Or did he think, “Don’t be ridiculous. Never gonna happen”. Or, less likely, “Thanks a lot for zinxying me by saying it out loud”. I couldn’t tell – and that security guard interrupted the moment for me to figure it out.

    I’ve always wondered what was behind Adam’s reaction but I think now that Adam was happy with what I said to him and … I’m happy if I made him happy. Big Smile

    I’ve seen him do that several times in “Awww shucks, really? Thank you!” kinds of happy moments.

    Definitely a happy head-throwback, Ron. He does it, I’ve noticed, when he’s really amused or (as in the Idol vid) relieved and joyful.

    Hafta concur with cwm and ulti. I remember you talking about – and planning your meeting, and there is just no way Adam wouldn’t have gotten a kick out and been “Awww shucks” pleased at what you said. I sometimes wonder if we realize how very very much he is anxious invested in wanting to please his fans, and how, like a little kid, he seems eternally thrilled when someone says nice things to him. You would think he’d be pretty hardened to it by now, but this just doesn’t seem to be the case.

    I know this intrinsic humility is some of what keeps me around…then, of course, there’s the hair and his face on the chair segment. I mean, I sort of got lost looking at that head shot. (Thanks ulti and luval!!!!) Kiss

    He could have easily waved and kept walking. No one would have thought the worse of him, but instead he waited and gave those fans a thrill.

    Seriously, I’ve always questioned it and thank you for confirming what I hoped would be true about Adam’s reaction to what I said to him. It’s been bothering me but no more.

    BTW, at the time, I meant every word of what I said to Adam. For me, it wasn’t a question of if “Trespassing” and/or Adam were going to receive Grammy award nominations, but instead it was a question of how many?

    I hoped for 4 nominations, and 3 would be certainly acceptable, but anything less than that was … unthinkable.

    Ah well, trodding over an old path that we’ve been down before.

    It’s such a vague memory, because I must have been about 5 years old, but I definitely had a Pez.

    Ahhhh, rain is now beating against my window pane. There’s nothing that will lull me to sleep more than the sound of rain beating against my window pane because … otherwise, how else would I be able to hear it? Laugh

    My brother can’t go to sleep every night without the sound of a portable fan blowing. Depending upon what time of the year it is, it’s either blowing directly on him and his wife or facing the wall.

    That’s something that he can control but, as much as I’ve tried, I can’t control the weather.

    So, the best assimilation that I can come up with for me is to run the dishwasher in the background when I go to bed and I gently drift off during the rinse cycle.

    My brother and I are weird. Smile

    Ron you need to get a bedside noise machine. Very compact and easy to use. It has the sound of rain, white water,ocean waves, summer night and several more choices. I got mine at target but there sold numerous places. Will lull you to sleep. Anyone else wake up sometimes and have Adam singing in your subconscious. Lately it’s been WWTLF a or IWBTLY. In Love

    Love the rain sound, JOJOSIE – funny about the ocean waves – keep waiting for the next one to come in – had a thunderstorm CD long ago and loved that one – could hear the storm arriving, doing its thing, and then slowly fading off into the distance.
