Adam-Idol14ab

September was a month full of surprises – Adam on Idol, Adam out and about and then to wrap up the month, the announcement of the UK and European Q+AL tour in early 2015. Can’t wait to see what October has in store! In the meantime, we’ll continue with the weekly walk down memory lane and revisit the summer’s concerts.

Enjoy the chat!

If they can’t sell the tickets in Germany, they should just scratch the dates and do a couple more concerts over here in the US. I’d love to go again. Just sayin’.

  2. cher says:

That’d be nice TQW but I’m surprised Cologne hasn’t sold out yet. That’s Adam’s bday and I know a bunch of peeps wanted to go to that one.

Cher, from your Milan ticket story, I totally envisioned you opening it up and the painstaking care trying to dry it out.
OMG, girl you amaze me! You and your stealthy ways.
If we could take a map of the world,& use push pins & string, to mark all the concerts you have attended, we would have the start of a tapestry!
You deserve it, but please get some sleep! Yes
Oh, that’s right, you are now on a cruise. Airplane Beer Plate Drink Music Note Island Cool
    Enjoy!

Good morning! I am an eagle too, Axxxel.

Anyone see SNL last night? Am watching it now and there is a skit about deceased celebrities. Sarah Silverman (host) plays Joan Rivers. At the table are “Richard Pryor”, “Ben Franklin”, “Steve Jobs” and “Freddie Mercury”. And guess who is playing Freddie…..ADAM LEVINE! Ugh!. mj’s has the video but I am having trouble bringing it over. eta: here it is.

I am surprised at German ticket sales. Queen was big there and Adam had a strong following during FYE era. It could be the weather. I once had to decide between Berlin and Paris at that time of year. (Chose Paris because it is much warmer.)

It is possible that Germany has some stringent rules on ticket re-sales – they do have some hilarious retail trade rules.

A former boss of mine went to work for Lands End, in charge of their European division in the late 90’s. When they became successful, due to standard American returns policy, they were taken to court by their German competitors because they were using unfair means to attract customers. Laugh

I know it’s a Euro-economy now but I wouldn’t be surprised if there is something like that in play.

  10. TLKC says:

Yup! These are old reports/conversations but Germany boasts the only court ruling AGAINST re-sales in Europe. The case revolved around a Depeche Mode concert and the ruling was made in 2007:

    http://www.musiclawupdates.com/?p=1710

Apparently, Germany and Holland are the two toughest countries in Europe for re-sales:

luval, I took the quiz and go Food! OMG, how the heck did that silly quiz know me so well???? WTF? My guess is that they just throw out things at random and hope that the person agrees with it because lets face it, most of us are slightly obsessed with most of the characteristics listed.

But………I have to admit they hit the nail on the head with me. For example, when I envision our trip to Prague in February I see us in nice cozy bars having great food and good drink with a gentle fall of snow outside.

I’m not too worried about the sales yet. It could be that folks are waiting a bit before making any decisions or that it will be like the NA tour where folks see multiple concerts after they get started or after they see the first one on YouTube. Not sure what they rules are in regard to canceling shows once folks have already purchased tickets.

  12. TLKC says:

I’m an owl, too. I had to think on the last question: witty or stubborn. I chose witty but I can be pretty stubborn so who knows? Razz

ETA: re-did with stubborn – still an owl.

  13. luval says:

I too am not concerned about sales right now. The economy is not so great there, the holidays are coming…ticket gifts! If January comes along and still not at least 3/4 full I’d be worried. Too many cities in Germany IMO.

  14. luval says:

I would hope Stuttgart would have great sales. The USA has a huge presence there.

“Stuttgart has been identified as one of the few “enduring communities” where the United States forces will continue to operate in Germany.[35] The remaining U.S. bases around Stuttgart are organized into US Army Garrison Stuttgart and include Patch Barracks, Robinson Barracks, Panzer Kaserne and Kelley Barracks.[36]”

    from wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuttgart

eta: But then again, with the world situation the way it is, the military may be advising their forces not to make any plans for future activities.

  15. TLKC says:

Not to worry adamized. First-day sell-outs are fueled by scalpers and organized re-sellers. Big fans watch the tickets disappearing, panic and end up buying twice.

Roger, Brian and the promoters have plenty of sales history to rely on. Besides, the usual route if sales are sluggish is to offer blocks of seats on special. They will sell-out.

IMHO, the slower the sales, the more casual fans in the venue; which is better for Adam. He will be new to them and he will be AWESOME.

Like TLKC said, Queen was very popular in the 70s in Germany. I remember watching them on TV as a kid. Probably not everyone was into music like I was, but they were a household name, so lots of people my generation should have memories.
I could well imagine that they have regulations in place that prevent the scalping/ ticket buying panic.
So people just wait and buy tickets as it gets closer.
Cher: I was totally amazed when I came to the US and found out you could return a plant that had died on you after 3 weeks. They would have just laughed in Germany. It’s really quite different.

Adam worked with Greg Wells on several tracks on FYE, but I don’t see a Rob Wells on FYE or Trespassing.

ETA Rob Wells is listed on Programming on Down the Rabbit Hole and Broken Open, but Greg Wells is listed as producer.

ETA2 Is there any family connection between Greg Wells and Rob Wells? Question
