Adam-Idol14ab

September was a month full of surprises – Adam on Idol, Adam out and about and then to wrap up the month, the announcement of the UK and European Q+AL tour in early 2015. Can’t wait to see what October has in store! In the meantime, we’ll continue with the weekly walk down memory lane and revisit the summer’s concerts.

Enjoy the chat!

Wish the stache wasn’t so dark in that picture, HK fan, but it is gorgeous.

Met Adam at We Will Rock You in London – think we’ve seen this pic before –

That pic is February on the 2015 calendar.

Ulti, thank you for the article you posted at 7:10.
Very sobering. The French are really wrestling with their current reality….there is a very tangible national angst as they struggle with the idea of what it means to be French…For now, at least, being French seems to mean not going to QAL…

  8. rs says:

Poor ticket sales in Paris could also be due to the very high price of the tickets. The majority of the seats are 133.50 euro with a few poorer seats at 100.50 euro. Standing GA are 78.50 euro. And those are the original prices, not resale. I know that the venue is lovely and smaller, but with this economy, you have to really be dedicated to pay those prices.

ETA? In Zurich, standing is 77euro but seats are 88!
And we paid just less than 80 euro for the most expensive tickets in Prague.

  9. jlurksacto says:

I’m curious as to why y’all think Paris isn’t selling
well. “poor ticket sales” It is still three months before
the concert. Enquiring minds want to know. (number of
    seats sold/unsold seats)

rtjenny/rtjennyhubby were in my neighborhood this last
Wed and we went to lunch and had a great visit. They
were “road tripping.” Good to see them!!!!

  10. rs says:

Have no idea how many tickets are still available at the different venues. But I did go into the Paris site and saw 4 tickets available in a very good spot. Mainly I am just going by what peeps here are saying. But I did compare prices at a few venues. Hopefully it will be sold out by performance time.

  11. luval says:

Picture from last night. That is Rumor Willis next to him. Guess she’s in the show. The show is Marry Me on NBC.

Retweeted on twitter last night. this great triple song video from Supersonic. Now I’m Here, Stone COld Crazy and I Was born to Love You. (looks professional)

  13. TLKC says:

ITA, jlurksacto. It is months before the show.

QAL didn’t sell out in many North American venues right away and a lot of that was due to today’s fragmented media and promotional limitations. In France, where QAL are not big, this would especially be the case. They deliberately chose a small venue and let word-of-mouth do it’s slow magic.

The important thing is that they sold out in NA at the end and they will do the same here.

Paris is actually on very good destination for travelling Glamberts, given the size of the venue and the many attractions of the city. If it weren’t for the January weather….

  14. Kradamour says:

Jlurk, I of course don’t know the sales at the Zenith, but we do know that other much larger venues have sold out and the small Paris venue has not.
I go in from time to time and start the process of buying tickets to see what will come up for me – and really good seats are available for purchase.

rs, I was also surprised by the Paris prices compared to other venues, and that would definitely affect sales for peeps who are coming from someplace else.

I did a little research. Just checked some other gigs at the Zenith:
GaGa is 40, 62, and 100.50€ for seats and 78.50 to stand, she is doing two shows at the end of this month and all the 62 and 40€ seats are sold out.
Pharrell is doing four shows there later this month, tickets were 56.50 to 89€, standing 50€. (Two shows are sold out, a very few seats are still available for the other two.)
The only tickets more expensive than QAL at the Zénith are Cat Stevens and Paul Simon (two different concerts, not a joint performance!)

I wonder how do QAL seat prices compare at other venues to seats for other concerts?
Wonder why the Paris prices are so high?
Okay, moving on. Not all that interesting to most peeps.
    Smile

May be one of the reasons that the Paris venue is not doing well.

LOL, all the anglophiles are leaving.

Over time, however, this migration will generate a greater interest in English language arts and culture, which is always a good thing.

ETA: I meant that cultural cross-pollination is a good thing; not a one-way absorption of Anglo-culture by the French.

  16. TLKC says:

Hi Kradamour! Did you see what happened in Nevada? Justice Kennedy’s stay on SSM was a “clerical error”; not a sign of how he might ultimately vote. Unless it was a Freudian slip. Big Smile

    http://www.mediaite.com/print/justice-kennedys-typo-accidentally-stops-same-sex-marriage-in-nevada/

This is still a mess, however, because he also stayed Idaho and the 9th Circuit has already ruled.

  17. TLKC says:

Another reason to go to Paris: mid-winter sales!

This Hemingway-introduced vision of the place makes it sound tempting

(OT but Hemingway is having a comeback.)

  18. TLKC says:

So Adam is in NYC. Lots of good photos to look forward to.

The Classic Rock M&G involves Brian and Roger but that doesn’t mean Adam won’t be there, does it? Cry

  20. Kradamour says:

Paris in January is lovely, TLKC, and yes re sales!
When I first went to Paris, as an au pair, it was January and so different from what I expected, quite like someone coming here and expecting to see cowboys! Cold, damp, but exquisite. Chestnut vendors on the corners, peeps enveloped in cozy scarves lingering in cafés, the Seine luminous at night and gray in the overcast daylight…I had little to do as an au pair except to see that my charge went to school and came home safely, so had all day to wander the city.
And then of course in the spring Paris unfolds like a flower…I am thinking very seriously of going to spend a year there. Have to run it by the DH and he won’t be delighted but he knows how much it would mean to me. After the younger son finishes grad school.

lol, ultimathule…about that photo I posted. Obviously I didn’t look at the calendar very much to remember that it was February. Just skimmed through it when I realized most of the photos were a little dated and he really didn’t look like that. February was the best, though!!

  26. ultimathule says:
  27. ultimathule says:

Agree about the calendar, luval – seems a little too dark and dated – think I mentioned it at the time – don’t even know if I’ll put it up.

lol – remember that – he sure was, luval

  37. mmm222 says:

Work has been really kicking my butt the last 2-3 weeks. What little time I could spare was occupied with QAL ticket buying angst and travel plans. Now that things have quieted down on all fronts, I can finally catch up on everything else in my life. Well, maybe not household chores… and since it’s been raining all day, I won’t feel guilty about not working in the garden either.

Before the QAL concert dates were announced, I had visions of strolling around the streets of London and Paris in the spring while enjoying the tour by night. I never expected the concerts to be in the dead of winter. Winter is the time for visiting the sunny tropics not northern Europe! I had already planned two winter escapes to the tropics for January and early February and could not believe how ill timed these dates were for me. As much as I would have loved to have gone to Paris, even in January, it was not to be. The only concerts that worked for me were the last two. So Prague it is…in February! I really think it will be lovely then in spite of the cold and am especially looking forward to sharing it with my band of fellow travelers from ALL. It will be less crowded and less expensive than in peak season. It will also be chilly, but it can’t be any worse than NYC was in January 2013 when Krads, adamized, nkd, and I saw Adam with Nile Rogers at the WAF concert. It was 20 degrees, windy and wicked, but we still had a great time. This time we won’t even make an attempt to be fashionable. We’ll just bundle up and drink lots of hot cocoa.

  39. luval says:

I remember from working for the airlines that sometimes it’s not the weather over there in winter but right here! If there are any nor-easter storms up the coast, the major airports in NYC, Philly, DCA, BWI, can be the ones that are closed…sometimes for days at a time. So sad for people heading for their only trip that year, perhaps. Mother Nature is cruel and unpredictable at times.

Better view of that German magazine article – love the pic on top –

    Last paragraph, translated:
“One of the most legendary bands of all times together with one of the best singers of our time – this is an event one should not miss.”

    (From MJs)

  41. mmm222 says:

luval, I don’t mind the winter storms so much if they delay my flight home. I just don’t want them to delay my flight out of town. We’re leaving for Prague 3 days before the concert, so we should be okay. (I hope!)

  42. luval says:

That is good thinking, mmm222. As long as you get there, no worries about the return. Always had that attitude ( or tried to) on any of my trips.

  43. riskylady says:

TLKC, the Classic Rock M&G says Brian and Adam. So we don’t know if Roger will be there. The nomination was for Q+AL, not old Queen (pretty revolutionary!).

luval, I could watch that Tokyo SS video a million times, it’s so amazing. (The WOWOW in upper right hand corner is Japanese TV.) the perfect ménage a trois of music/musicians/audience! The energy in the infinity symbol must have been flowing at an amazing speed. And all the Adam banners! And the ages of many – definitely never saw Freddie with Queen.
I’m like HK fan – I like Freddie, but prefer to watch and hear Adam every time. Just the JOY he conveys, plus his gorgeous voice and person are irresistible.

  45. luval says:

I’ve watched that video multiple times today. And I never thought I’d enjoy those first two songs. They give me the chills now!

  46. Kiwi says:

Totally off topic ,but I just had to share this short video. As things are a wee bit quiet on the Adam front at this moment, I hope you’ll excuse the lapse and allow me a little national pride in my gorgeous country!

  47. ultimathule says:

Grabbed that 3-song vid from Vimeo as soon as I could and now play it every day. (Sent it to all my troops here.) Love everything he sings, but SCC has been one of my favs from the beginning – pure dynamite –

  48. ultimathule says:

Well, Kiwi – that time lapse photography of the southern skies is just gorgeous – thanks so much for linking to it.

  49. luval says:

    Beautiful video, kiwi.

  50. Tothebeat says:

Kiwi! I was mesmerized for the entire four minutes…how beautiful is your spot on our earth with the stars wheeling the milky way into the horizon and the lights of the city carrying on where the sunset left off.

    – Kept imagining Adam’s higher register weaving itself magnificently over and through the music that was played Yes Rose
