Another month has arrived, and we are all anxiously awaiting the lead single from Adam’s upcoming new album. Will the new single be released this month? Will Adam perform at the American Music Awards once again? I think that Adam’s recent appearance on the cover of The Advocate signals that things are about to start happening again.

Hopefully our long wait is almost over. Enjoy the chat!

UPDATE: 11/7/11 11 PM – Photos and videos still coming in from last night’s epic performance of Queen with Adam on lead vocals at the EMAs!

Just my opinion, of course…. I would put the EMAs as #1.
To me, this performance engulfed the total package of what Adam is about
musically — the powerful, beautiful, perfect vocals, the stage charisma for which there are no words (he totally owned that stage), and the humbleness with the way he treated this very special tribute to Queen.
This is an epic performance and is in a league of its own!

  2. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

dcglam, I agree with your #1, and I’d have to put Idol Finale “A Change Is Gonna Come” as a close second. Smile

  3. luval says:

My People Magazine arrived today and there was a blurb about the lawsuit. Simplifies it I think:

“A lawsuit brought by Adam Lambert’s former label claims the 2009 American Idol runner-up was ineligible to compete. Colwel Platinum Entertainment Inc. alleges Lambert cost the company money by issuing takedown notices to stop amazon.com from selling music he recorded between April 2007 and September 2008. the suit, which seeks unspecified damages, further accuses Lambert, 29, of violating Idol’s rules by auditioning while signed to a label. He tweeted in response’Reserve judgement until all the facts surface from ALL parties'”

    Here’s Adam’s talking boots, Calgary.

mieps, the avi is just an image from the internet – I love trees, so was looking for one.

Calgary, to add to what nkd said, the DDD posters are mainly other musicians and some experts. Their lists are based on certain musical criteria, not popularity, sales, fan feelings. They discourage fangirling, etc. Very interesting, as they analyze performances and voices from a technical standpoint to determine excellence. Adam is on a few of their lists, #2 Most Technically Skilled Rock Singer, has a couple of songs listed as the best live performances ever, etc. Here’s an example, the ranges of what they consider the best vocalists. http://digitaldreamdoor.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=702

  5. Calgary says:

luval Once again, you prove yourself to be a serious fan. I thought they were same boots!
BTW, on the Japan FYE check the face on the girl sitting on the panel at 1.58. It’s priceless!

  6. Calgary says:

    Thanks rl
I went and had a look at DDD. Wow, they sure get into the finer details! Amazing.

  7. Calgary says:

Oops. sorry about the bolding screwup above

  8. luval says:

The boots were different? Didn’t even notice. LOL

Wonder what Adam is doing New Years’ Eve? I took some days off thinking he might appear live somewhere.

I’d have to put Idol Finale “A Change Is Gonna Come” as a close second.

Wow, yes — We certainly can’t forget that big one!

  10. ultimathule says:

Red Robinson, where he has to begin three times, is still my favorite FYE – he was so happy to be on stage again and it really shows. There’s a guy in the audience in the beginning who looks a lot like him.

  11. turquoisewaters says:

LolaGlamb: this is my favorite video of the Cologne PH/WLL performance. It is by terrapolision, using several sources: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auENgTn2B4A
    One of my favorites, too.

  12. cocoglam says:

The pic with Riff is so sweet-am I crazy or is that the same shirt he wore to the hospital when he went to visit when he was born?

  13. riskylady says:

Haha, Miss Chaos, yes, Adam definitely is the RED apple – delicious!

Just FYI guys, even the DDD guys on the Adam thread couldn’t keep their list to 10! They ended up having Top 21 Live and Top 21 Studio, and that just based on excellence. Plus, they keep having to juggle them – right now, they’re discussing the EMAs and which song and where to put it (no contest for me, TSMGO!)

I will base my list on mesmerizingness – the quality of being compelled to watch/listen over and over and over.
1 TSMGO with Queen at EMAs
2 Bowie medley, I think from Portland (love his voice on those songs)
3 Soaked Gridlock – that’s where I fell in love with Adam
    4 WWFM – AI
    5 Sleepwalker – Leno – a perfect little gem
    6 ACIGC – Idol Studio
    7 Mad World – Idol
8 Feelin’ Good – Idol Studio
9 Born to be Wild – Idol
10 I Can’t Make You Love Me – Upright Cabaret
    11 Time for Miracles
    12 One = Idol Studio

I could add a few more lol!
Maybe we can reach a consensus on a top 10, but maybe we should go and put our own top 10 in that thread about becoming a Glambert?

  14. luval says:

Oh dear…this will be showing up soon on 24/7. Adam is in the bullseye section of Entertainment Weekly. It’s the photo from the EMA’s with he and Hasselhoff shaking hands. It’s captioned” It’s take your son to work day at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Well, the GB is nice. Smile

  15. turquoisewaters says:

Just a warning about DDD: this is a place to discuss performances note by note, not a place to discuss hair.
Since I don’t have enough expertise on notes, I keep my mouth shut and just read, especially since some of the posters there are less civil than what we are used to here.
I do like their list of links to best performances though, even if they just focus on the vocal aspect.

  16. Oksana2000 says:

luval, is it the last EW? I didn’t pick-up my mail for 3 days, and I have EW subscription. Let me schlep to my mailbox.

  17. Oksana2000 says:

I’ve been reading DDD for ages (= past two years). Never posted there, cause I know nothing about music. Not to worry, we are all represented by one BSC Glambert, who annoys me to no end and prolly is driving REAL DDD experts crazy as well…

  18. luval says:

Just got EW in the mail today. November 18, 2011 issue. I did not renew my subscription but I keep getting this mag. Must be I received some extra issues when I renewed in the past.

  19. ultimathule says:

To put a good spin on it, luval, Hasselhoff does look old enough to be his dad. Good for Adam – he looks about 25. Rather that – lol.

  20. Oksana2000 says:

luval, thnx. I’m going to my mailbox NOW. Grin

  21. Hi!! How is everyone tonight?

  22. Oksana2000 says:

I got it. Does EW have some issues with Adam, or what? Or is it Hoff that they hate?

  23. eywflyer says:

Good evening, just got in from a walk. Beautiful full moon tonight in Key West – clear and 74 degrees!

I was thinking about how to come up with a consensus “best of” list for Adam’s performances, and have an idea for a Top 16 list, to include live and studio performances. Details on how I think we can do this in an interesting way shortly.

  24. Oksana2000 says:

luval, my EW subscripion is $10/year and this is exactly what they are worth.

  25. riskylady says:

So true, Oksana, about the BSC fan on the DDD. You know, there was a previous Adam thread where she got into such a feud and angered them so much, they deleted the whole thread, quarantined the blog for a few weeks so that only registered people could read it, and then started from scratch again. One guy had saved the lists. When you register there, you have to wait a few days to be accepted. Yet, there she is back again, and VERY VERY annoying, hogging the conversation.

  26. dcglam says:

To put a good spin on it, luval, Hasselhoff does look old enough to be his dad.

Yep — As a matter of fact, he IS old enough to be his dad! Wink
    He’s 59 or 60, not sure which.

  27. riskylady says:

Lately, everything they have on Adam in EW has been very snarky. I am REALLY pissed at them, to even joke about Adam and Hasselhoff connected in some way is disgusting. He went to sing with Queen at their invite, and THIS is what he gets from them?

  28. luval says:

riskylady, I’ve been teed off off at EW for a long time. I can’t think of the last time they had anything good to say about Adam. I wrote them a letter when I canceled my subscription about this. This mag is a piece of junk.

  29. eywflyer says:

Inspired by the original idea from Miss Chaos, I think it would be fun for us to come up with a consensus “best of” list of Adam’s live and studio performances. Here is the procedure I’m proposing to use (long and numbers/stats geeky – so please bear with me):

    Nominations:
The following songs are eligible. Any of Adam’s live performances that exist online, video or audio, going back as far as you can find, up through the EMAs on 11/6/11.
This would include pre-idol material such as Upright Cabaret, Zodiac, musical theater shows, as well as Idol Season 8 live performances, the Idols Live Tour, the Glam Nation Tour, Acoustic Live EP, Glam Nation Live CD, and one-off concert/TV appearances. Any studio performance from the Idol Season 8 collection or the FYE album (all editions).

Nominations should be posted in the November chat thread. You can post a full personal top songs list, or just add songs that have not been previously nominated, as you wish.

Here is the list of nominees so far (all songs posted from this afternoon when this idea started up through 815 PM EST this evening):

A Change is Gonna Come (Idol Studio 5/19/09)
A Change is Gonna Come (Idol Finale Live 5/19/09)

Time for Miracles (Studio September 2009)

All nominations posted up through November 19 will be included on the voting ballot.

    Voting:
I will post a voting ballot in the November chat thread on November 20. All eligible nominated songs will be included on the ballot. Each person can submit one ballot, marked with their ranked top 16 choices from the list of nominees. I’d like to do a secret ballot, with votes submitted by email. This will allow everyone to vote without being influenced by earlier votes, and keep the suspense on how the voting is going.

To send the ballot to me via email, click on the blue “eywflyer” text under Site Contacts in the upper right menu. You can highlight the entire ballot text in the thread, click control-c, then click on the “eywflyer” text to bring up the contact form, click control-v to paste the ballot into the form, then edit to mark your choices. All votes need to be submitted by November 30. Only one vote per household please Smile Please don’t start voting until November 20, so that you will have the full list of nominees to consider.

    Results:
The votes will be tabulated using an inverse point system, where a 1st place vote is worth 16 points, a 2nd place vote is worth 15 points, etc down to a 16th place vote is worth 1 point. Then I’ll add up the points and we’ll have our consensus Top 16.

The Top 16 list will be revealed countdown style in the December monthly chat thread, starting with #16 on December 1, and ending with #1 on December 16 in honor of the anniversary of the final Glam Nation Tour date.

I’ll also create a new page on the site that contains video/audio links for each song on the Top 16 list, with the page being updated each day as the countdown progresses. After December 16, this page will remain as a permanent feature of the site.

I hope this will be a fun activity for the next few weeks, as we patiently await new material from Adam!

  30. luval says:

    I like this, eywflyer!

  31. ultimathule says:

There seems to be two different versions of “Is Anybody Listening.” The live performance – there’s the video for it and the soundtrack version (which is the one I have).

  32. eywflyer I love this idea! I would like to nominate two more that I personally love both from Upright Cabaret. His Crazy performance in March of 2008 and his performance of Kiss From A Rose on New Year’s Eve 2008. Those two are my favorite Upright Cabaret performances Smile

  33. ultimathule says:

Wow, eywfler – that’s an impressive project! Thanks very much.

  34. Miss Chaos says:

Yay I like it. Can I Add How Come You Dont Call Me Anymore from the Upright Cabaret, New Years Eve 2 years ago, Live

  35. eywflyer says:

Ultimatethule is that soundtrack version of Is Anybody Listening available as an audio file online anywhere that you know of? I’ve never heard that one, love the video version.

I’ll post an updated list of nominees several times between now and November 19, so that ya’ll can easily see what songs have been added to the original list. Will also try to find video or audio links for those nominees that aren’t already linked on this site and post them in the thread.

Criteria for this is wide open – I like to think of it as the songs that touch your soul.

Just was watching TSMGO for about the 100th time since Sunday lol, and noticed Adam’s posture during the glory note at the end. He did something very similar during other huge glory notes like Feelin’ Good and Foxwoods WLL. I’m sure there are technical/vocal reasons for that. Looks like stretching out that way with his arm flung high is the best way to use his full breath (he holds that note at the end of TSMGO almost 10 seconds). It looks impressive/dramatic as hell too! If there has ever been a more epic moment for Adam than that one, I can’t think of it.

My hope is that years from now we’ll look back at that EMA performance as the moment that launched him on the huge second phase of his career.

  36. glambotgram says:

ewyflyer wow you put some work into this, great idea.

I would like to add St Agathe Outlaws of Love, for the “touch your soul” factor.

Now off to listen to all those nominations. A fans work is never done.

  37. luval says:

I’d like to nominate If I Had You X-Faxtor Australia. Love the jacket.

Now I have to find a good Strut!

  38. ultimathule says:

Yes, eywflyer, TSMGO affected me the same way. Some of the folks on DDD and youtubes blather away about pitch and vibrato – and in the process miss the entire experience of that particular performance. Adam grabbed you and held you enthralled from beginning to end of this great song – left you shaken and breathless and wanting more – can’t ask for anything else out of a performer. Yes, a genius.

  39. luval says:

Oh yeah, Dust in the Wind Upright Cabaret

  40. nkd says:

Thank you glambotgram, I was going to add that one myself.
Now is this nominations strictly on the vocal performance or does the visual come into account? There’s some video that makes the performance!
This is a great idea! Thank you eywflyer for this!

  41. riskylady says:

Wow, very fast work, eywflyer! What a fun idea! Love it!

  42. eywflyer says:

Nkd, nomination criteria are entirely up to you, we aren’t going to be strict like those DDD peeps are. For me, the visual element certainly does come into play. All will be accepted, as long as they are available online (video or audio) somewhere so that folks can review them, or from the specified studio recordings.

  43. Miss Chaos says:

Just adding a few in case they are forgotten,
Satisfaction Top16 or whatever- where I really met Adam lol
Black or White an emotional song for Adam AI
Play that Funky Music AI Where DDD like it a lot for vocals

    AMA’s FYE (Just Kidding)

Is there any way while we are voting to knock out songs as we go along, that dont make the main voting block?

  44. luval says:

Just watched TSMGO again with full screen…mtv version. Thanks, eywflyer.

  45. riskylady says:

You know, some of us (and some folks on YouTube and the Queen site) noticed more vibrato than normal in Adam’s voice at the EMAs. It’s more noticable in the first song, and more than I have ever heard from him in ALL his performances. We have several theories: Way huge amount of adrenalin, a cold/sore throat (he sounded husky in interviews, especially after the show), the fact that he was pouring on the power because the band plays very loud, plus he could not hear himself…..In any case, his tone was beautiful as always, he owned the stage, and his renditions of the songs were absolutely stunning, especially those riffs in TSMGO – my God!!!! When he walks to the front of the stage and sings “I’ll face it with a grin….” Those high notes were just powerful AND beautiful tone!

  46. AL says:

Here are 3 to add to the list…

20CB from Providence 08/17/10 – the note around the 5:30 mark when he comes back from his second tongue dive is incredible. I guess he liked the kiss! http://youtu.be/QdtPHayxXJc

and ACIGC from his first liberating performance at the Zodiac Club show.
    http://youtu.be/xrcAWtVhb0c

or his heartfelt version from GNT 12/15/10
    http://youtu.be/H_AUxw94i-w

  47. riskylady says:

AO has the MTV vids 1 and 2 embedded. Don’t know if it is possible to get no. 2 over here?

  48. Miss Chaos says:

The famous Crawl Thru Fire Zodiac Show 2 years ago

    http://youtu.be/wXvSA6QL7Ac

  49. eywflyer says:

luval, yes I’ve watched that full screen MTV version a few times myself Smile It automatically switches over to HD quality on my cable internet after a few seconds so the audio/video quality is outstanding.

I think when Adam sings “another hero” near the beginning, he is turned around pointing at Brian May. Did anyone else see that?

  50. ultimathule says:

eywflyer – the “Is Anybody Listening” track I have is the one I bought from iTunes for $.99. Seems at the end of this version he goes up higher towards the end – this, I think, is the soundtrack version – also on youtube. The video version is, I think, slightly different. Interesting to get your take on this or if I’m just hearing things.
