Another month has arrived, and we are all anxiously awaiting the lead single from Adam’s upcoming new album. Will the new single be released this month? Will Adam perform at the American Music Awards once again? I think that Adam’s recent appearance on the cover of The Advocate signals that things are about to start happening again.

Hopefully our long wait is almost over. Enjoy the chat!

    I meant to mention that due to a special election for a state senate seat that Gay Marriage in Iowa is safe for now as the Democrats retained a majority. We have a sector and some outside influences that would like to end it but I feel it’s gaining more overall support the longer it stays legal in our state. Kradamour, my grandson just moved to Iowa City and his roommate is an Iranian student who is getting PhD in French. Who’d have thought that would be available in our state. It surprised me. Now back to Adam. I can’t wait till his hair grows out again. Me no likey shaved sides.

    Good news, Jojosie. I love Iowa, and it is a very fractured state: large college communities that are quite liberal socially, and very conservative rural areas. Cedar Rapids/Ottumwa. Overall, though, I always found Iowans to be willing to listen, whether or not they agreed, more than in other places I have lived.
    PhD in French? totally! Iowa State has a strong language department. Ironically, a PhD in French is not available in Virginia except at UVA out in Charlottesville.

    Re hair – that pink plaid pic was a sad reminder of what once was…the “tear” in the back is, I believe, simply an intentional unhemmed frayed edge on the yoke.

    Loved the story of Adam signing on the stage! He took those meet and greets very seriously.

    The teens in the family love the shaved sides. Older people don’t. Maybe he’s onto something. I actually think the cut looks great with that coat and boots – very military.

    Just tiptoed back into the kitchen where my computer is to see if the site is back up. Yessssssss! Heddy, I know you’re gone in by now, but maybe you’ll see that I made this comment back to you. I had posted earlier tonight about Adam and Wembley. You mentioned that you are hoping for Bloomington, etc. Actually, Bloomington is less than 500 miles one way for me to travel from Eastern North-Central Mississippi. So it would be more likely that I could catch a show there near you than for me to make it to Wembley. But a girl can dream. I dreamed of going to Ste. Agathe, and it happened. I drove the 3300 miles round-trip alone in my car–meeting up with Luval, Kradamour, and Adamized in Syracuse to continue the trip in three of our cars. I don’t like to fly; but, alas, driving wouldn’t be an option for Wembley. Wink

    Morning peeps. Finally feeling better after a week of feeling like crap. So lucky to have had you all and the fantastic performance to keep me company. Nothing betterer.

    Love the sweet picture of Adam and Riff. How soft and cudly they both look. Riff certainly has an amazing extended family.

    I thought that there may be an age bias re the hair. Being “29” myself I can’t find anything about it at all appealing. Hope he moves on soon and swings to the hair vs the shaver on his next redo

    I would completely love a couple of Queen concerts. So many great songs to sing! And then I of course I would want a concert DVD to tie me over until the single drops. That’s my wishlist for right now. Should I add wolf hair?

    Just went and read the legal filing. Gonna uncross my eyes long enough to post…I am remembering why I don’t practice law any longer…
    I loved that Adam (I assume) circled the word “publish” and wrote in the margin “What does word mean?”. Even at that young age, unsophisticated and without representation, he took the time to carefully read and try to understand the document. So proud of him! I can say from experience that this is rare.

    Cher, I had to laugh at your post cause I’m the Mom on the phone talking Adam to sometimes disinterested daughters. I do have an ally in my daughter-in-law as she works in our local University music department and was a big Freddie Mercury fan. She loves Adam but hasn’t gotten into fandom like me. I also hope Adam tours in the Chicago area next year as it would be a good place to meet up.

    Plus, interesting little comment from the resident Queen fanboy on DDD:

    “The reason why (TSMGO) it’s talked about more, is because that song isn’t performed live all that much (and more rarely in the original key)! Freddie probably would lower the key/modify the song’s higher notes if he sang that live (though his technique did get better in his final years–so I wouldn’t know). I found his WATC to have a more impressive vocal performance!”

    Hmmm, sounds like he’s a little miffed that our BB was able to deliver all the high notes live in the original key and with absolutely
    BEAUTIFUL tone, can’t admit it, so says the other song was better.
    I mean, I love Freddie too, but I think Adam is just as good in his style as Freddie was in his. Granny Smith apples vs. those red ones (can’t remember a name Smile )

    I’ve been reading some of the Queen fan reactions too, many loved Adam’s performance, some feel that Adam’s voice is a bit too theatrical and pure with too much vibrato for their taste, vs. the more gritty and rock-style sound of Freddie. I think this is a fair position to take, as riskylady said with the apples it’s basically a matter of musical taste. I personally find myself liking Adam’s takes on these Queen songs better than the original.

    Miss Chaos, I love the idea of us putting together a running Top 10 of Adam’s live performances. Once we come up with a consensus list, I’ll make a page on the site with the Top 10 videos all in one place. Going forward, any new additions to the Top 10 will have to bump an older performance off the list, but we all know that Adam is always improving so I’m sure the list will gradually change with time.

    Here’s my initial personal Top 10, in no particular order yet:

    – TSMGO (Queen/EMAs 11/6/11)
    – WLL (Fantasy Springs 2/27/10)
    – WWFM (American Idol 4/14/10)
    – WLL (Foxwoods 6/24/10)

    Nkd, thanks for posting the signing pics, Adam looks great in the blue jacket. It’s so rare and enjoyable to see him wearing something other than his “grayscale wardrobe” (credit Kradamour for that phrase) in public.

    I thought he looked great onstage at the EMAs too, hair didn’t bother me.

    As I posted previously, like ewyflyer, I liked his hair onstage. The unshaved look is probably more beautiful, but the shaved sides add an air of edginess and danger that I think suits the current music scene.

    Loved that pic with his hair starting to grown in. Maybe he decided one more clean cut since he knew he’d be on stage. But now he may let it grow out. It doesn’t look that bad with the hair growing out.

    Me three! I was ignoring the subscription renewal request but when I saw the talk about another RS interview, I went and paid my renewal for 6 months!!! Alien
    TSMGO performance just gets better and better the more I watch it and believe me I’ve watched it many many times. I will be watching again during the AMAs too. So ticked off at them. To invite Chris Brown and not Adam is unforgivable. I hope the ratings suck. They’re bringing all the big stars to get ratings up any way possible. I wish one of you would contact that group that complained about Adam at the AMAs and tell them that Chris Brown will be performing for their sweet little children during prime time and ask them what they’re gonna do about it. Frown

    Isn’t part of the problem with him being asked to perform at the AMAs that he has no new material? If he had his single out, would that make a difference? I will never forgive ABC or the AMA’s. I haven’t watched ABC since Adam was on The View.

    I also was going to not renew my Rolling Stone. How could they not have written one article about Glam Nation? Now, we’ll see.

    LolaGlamb, yes, with no new material it would be unlikely (IMO) that Adam would be invited to perform on the AMAs even if the FYE performance 2 years ago had never happened. Also, as far as I know the complaint regarding that show filed with the FCC is still pending (these things take forever – I think the Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake Super Bowl halftime one from February 2004 was just recently decided), and ABC may well have decided not to have Adam on the air in a high profile live event again until that case is finished.

    ETA: looking further on Wikipedia, it appears that the FCC fined CBS $500,000 for the Jackson/Timberlake “wardrobe malfunction” in July 2004, or about 6 months after the event. However, the ensuing legal battles over the fine went on for years and went all the way to the Supreme Court, with the final decision in the case coming earlier this month. Given that it’s been almost two years since the FCC complaint was filed in the Adam/AMA case, it seems unlikely that the fine to ABC will be large, if there is one at all.
