After what has seemed like an eternally long wait since Adam’s Glam Nation/FYE era ended, we have finally arrived at May 2012 – the month that Adam’s new album “Trespassing” will be released! The album will drop in the U.S. & Canada on May 15th. Lucky fans in New Zealand & Japan will get the album a few days earlier on May 11th, Australia & Germany a few days later on May 18th, while some other European countries (U.K., Ireland, France) will have to wait until July. In addition to the album release, we can look forward to three concerts with Adam headlining this month, the KRZ Summer Bash in Wilkes-Barre PA on May 25th, at Six Flags New England on May 26th, and the Freshtival in National Harbor MD on May 27th. We will also see Adam perform on American Idol May 17th, will have the official push of “Never Close Our Eyes” to pop radio beginning on May 29, and may see the music video for NCOE later this month as well!

Our featured photo for this month’s chat comes from Adam’s mini-concert of April 26th on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

It’s going to be an exciting month as we begin the Trespassing era, enjoy the chat!

Eywflyer. I love this album, the whole album. I would say the weakest for me is BTIKM, I try to listen to the album all the way through but I find myself skipping that one, impatient to get to the newer songs. Kickin In was low on my list but I am liking it much better after watching Adam dance to it last night. I also have different snippets going through my head at different times. I would say now that Chokehold just doesn’t grab me. I don’t dislike it but it is never in my head. Always top on my list Shady, Trespassing, Cuckoo, Broken English, Underneath, OOL, Naked Love, and Runnin. Take Back, NCOE, Pop that Lock, and Nirvana are slowly getting in there too.

This one of very few albums that I love the whole thing. Others have been
    Queens Night at the Opera.
Pink Floyd’s Dark side of the Moon,
    Alice Cooper’s Billion Dollar Babies
    Michael Jackson’s Thriller
    and now Adam Lambert’s Trespassing

I’m curious, now that people have had a few days to digest the album, what do y’all think of it? It’s ok if you don’t love or even like every part, I just would find people’s honest opinions interesting.

I haven’t listened to it enough to memorize lyrics yet–doggone real life. I love all of the songs, but I’d say that when I’m actively listening, Runnin’ is the one I can’t wait to hear. Kickin’ In is the one that I hear in my head while I’m at work. Trespassing is what I usually wake up to.

I still love Better Than I Know Myself, but probably because it speaks to me and I love the video. Never Close Our Eyes is not one of my favorites, but he sings it beautifully. I wouldn’t mind hearing it on the radio, and look forward to the video.

My shopping story for today. Went to Target to get Trespassing, I found it in with other CD’s not with new, notable or featured. I moved it to the New Releases there. I bought one there and they only had one left.
They did not have deluxe version at Walmart, and Standard was with other CD’s so I moved a few there too. Some to the new releases and some to the featured section. I asked for the deluxe and they said they were not a major retailer for CD’s so they would not get the deluxe.

I need to find an independent record dealer here and buy from them. Sounds like if you find a “weighted” store that 1 counts for more than one. They will be the stores that labels have signings in.

    I spy Adam’s equipment!!!

Darn. I’m never getting out of the corner tonight!

  6. Ellessay says:

When my 30-year-old daughter (born 4 days after Adam) was small, she loved my collection of vinyl albums and 45’s. We played the records frequently, and I always made sure she knew the name of the song and the artist. She has continued that with her own daughter, who is about to turn 6 years old. Recently her daughter was playing with her iPod and found Adam’s FYE album and stopped to ask her mother if it was appropriate for her to listen to. She was able to OK FYE, but I don’t think she can sing along to many of the songs on TP. THAT is my only problem with the new album.

Of course, it’s not just Adam, there are many of today’s artists that are putting out music I wouldn’t want my grandkids to sing along to. Just makes me a little sad to not share the music with the younger generation.

rs, I hadn’t thought about it, but I guess I do have a sort of photographic memory for music. Hear it once, and from there on it is in my head. I guess I just thought everyone did that, or actually never thought about it. Huh. I’ll pay more attention.

LOVED those photos from the Chicago meet and greet!!!! each one better than the next and yes, I noticed our friend from Ste Agathe also – so glad that she got a big hug! Honestly, all those photos were so animated and Adam looked like he was having a genuinely great time, no “photo face” pics.
    Smile Smile Smile

luval, great that you are so proactive re venues! I wonder what size venues we are talking about for this next tour…I’d love to have him back at the Norva, it holds 1300, and here in Norfolk that may be about what is needed, he is pretty unknown here. I can walk there! Chic

  8. glambotgram says:

Ellessay I know I wanted to be able to dance to it with my granddaughter. I need a bleeped version lol

  9. luval says:

    Hi Kradamour..

The Turning Stone Casino here in Central New York is about 1/2 hr from me and the capacity is about 5,000. I e-mailed them as I did in 2010.

I also sent a note to a downtown theater that holds 2900…the opera theater type venue like Wilkes Barre will be.

Then I will send a note to our War Memorial in downtown where the Idol shows appear…capacity 6200.

I will bet Adam’s people are starting soon in preparing venues for his tour but how big who knows? So I’m just taking chances on everything! I have a feeling it will be close to GN venues unless Trespassing just blows up beyond expectations.

  10. Ellessay says:

Saw this on Facebook and thought it was a great sentiment. I’d love to tweet it to Adam, but I’ve never tweeted before.

Don’t let compliments mess with your mind,
Don’t let insults mess with your heart.

  11. milwlovesadam says:

I’m so in love with this album. Not just because it is Adam. But because it is that good. I haven’t liked a whole album in decades. Not Springsteen, not Mellencamp, not even my old bestie, Neil Diamond.

I’m thinking back to Purple Rain, Thriller and Rumours for the last albums I liked in their entirety.

Now, truth be told, when I need to listen to favorites, I do skip BTIKM and NCOE. Only because I have heard them so much already.

And, when I want to hear something fun, I put on Runnin and Take Back. I do like Kickin In. When I want something emotional, it’s Underneath and OOL.

Nirvana is in my head. I can’t get it out. I wake up to it. The lyrics are so Rocky Horror and Hair and hippie-trippy. And, LOL, I picture The Neverending Story, with Adam riding the giant flying dog-thing!!!

  12. turquoisewaters says:

    My 5 cents album review:
I think there is not a single bad song on the album, and I have a hard time picking favorites.
Favorites: Shady, Trespassing, Kickin In – and ALL songs from Broken English on out, especialy Runnin’ and Nirvana.
Weakest to me: Pop that Lock, BTIKM
I changed my mind completely re the bonus songs. They didn’t impress me at all from the snippets, and now I love all three of them. I like that the songs are grouped into light and dark. That is how I organize my playlists anyway – into uptempo and downtempo, because that way I can match it with my mood/activity while listening. It would kill the flow to jump back and forth. And I still think every song is distinct enough that it does not get boring.

  13. Ron says:

    Hi mils.

I think I was the only one raving about “Nirvana” when the CD was first streamed. Love it.

Did you notice though that in the lyrics in the CD booklet for “Nirvana” the same wrong word is used twice?

What’s printed is “We can escape to a higher plane”. Shouldn’t it be “plain?”

    No matter … it’s a great song.

  14. milwlovesadam says:

Ooh, Ron, you’re right. I haven’t had to refer to the lyrics much because our guy is such an articulate singer, you can hear his words so well. But, yes, it should be “plain.” But, then again, Mr Executive producer and poet may have either fallen victim to his own poor spelling, or been going for a play on words.

  15. milwlovesadam says:

Well, I was “over there” reading the headlines, and wrote a diatribe, and whilst doing so, the hammer dropped and the thread was closed. It was Clay vs. Adam and being out discussion. Clay gave a very recent interview and was talking about Adam and what type of fans he has and other douche-ey comments. So, here is my post, FWIW:

Adam has been out since he was 18, personally and professionally. Everyone at Idol knew he was gay. His year on Idol had all the contestants in the “Bubble.” They had no media access during their time on the show. No interviews. No twitter. No Facebook.

Adam had no venue to discuss his sexuality while on the show. As if it is anyone’s business. Rolling Stone offered him the cover story. He didn’t “come out” on Rolling Stone. He was already way out. He just talked about it in a well known magazine. Right after Idol. Days after the finale to be exact. Before the Tour even started rehearsing.

Clay stayed closeted for years. He came “out” on a People magazine cover. It was no surprise. IMHO, he is less than straight forward with his fans and the press. I liked him on Idol, bought his first CD, and then lost interest.

To me, a dyed in the wool Glambert, “normal” person, with many interests and an open mind, I don’t go for “vanilla”, plaid shirts, or boring entertainment. I’m from the Midwest, buy music I like, listen to radio, and watch fun TV.

I don’t give a darn if my entertainers are gay, straight, bisexual or transgendered. I just want to be entertained. I find Adam to be a much more interesting person than Clay. I find Adam to be super articulate, funny and sweet. This isn’t about Adam vs Clay. This is about the fact that I lost respect for Clay when he chose to be so secretive. In such a public way.

Clay’s coming out was a business move. Adam’s Rolling Stone interview was in the light of ” Hey, here I am, I’ve got nothing to hide, I want to be open and honest with my fans.” And that’s how it has been since then. And that’s why he has such devoted fans. Like me.

Oh. And he sings too! LOL

  16. Ellessay says:

What’s printed is “We can escape to a higher plane”. Shouldn’t it be “plain?”

No, I think plane is right. There is nothing PLAIN about Adam!

ETA: He’s talking about a higher plane of existence, not an airplane. Plain would be just ordinary. I don’t want to escape there. I already live there.

Very well said. I haven’t read over there this evening. It’s probably better for my blood pressure if I don’t.

  18. milwlovesadam says:

Yes, Elllesay. I think there are multiple meanings to plain/plane.

I just picture him, “I’ll lay you down.” in clouds, with hookas and togas, and wind, and for once, no clothes…..

  19. turquoisewaters says:

I’d say he spends too much time in (air)planes these days.
I think I should start studying up on lyrics like you guys. I haven’t even looked at them yet. (Totally RL under water.) Thankfully Adam is so easy to understand.

  20. Oksana2000 says:

Even tho I’m not a native speaker “higher plane” sounds to me just right.
    It’s like “higher plateau”…

  21. turquoisewaters says:

mils: I bet the word “plaid” did you in. That’s something you can’t mess with.

  22. milwlovesadam says:

Yup, especially because another vanilla, plaid, WGWG is gonna win Idol again.

  23. Ron says:

    I stand corrected.

From this point we can progress to higher planes – to higher levels of consciousness.

  24. milwlovesadam says:

I’ll take a plane to my higher plain. Some people take a broom.

    Ha!

  25. glambotgram says:

And, LOL, I picture The Neverending Story, with Adam riding the giant flying dog-thing!!!

FALKOR!!! My kids favorite when they were little. Beware of the Nothing.

Great post mils Very well written and ITA.

And Higher Plane is correct, as in a geometry plane, a flat surface.

  26. glambotgram says:

    Speaking of planes—

    Reyna ‏@RainOnMe83

Chilling in my hotel room…we are on a bus from now on…yes!! No more planes!!

  27. luval says:

Talking about the lamdomonium on the Kiss thread. Might as well bring it here. In the Trespassing era it will now be lamsardines, lambulance, lamazon, lambulge, etc. etc.

ok, glambotgram…answers my question from before whether it would be limos, planes…it’s buses! Or should I say the lambus.

  28. little dutchess says:

I love every single song in the entire album; I just have trouble figuring out the favorites in any kind of order. just when I think I have a favorite the next song comes on and I say’Oh I love this one too.’
I do tend to gravitate to”SHADY” AND “RUNNIN” but I also really like “Broken English”. The latter two get to me for Adam’s vocal prowess–the power of his voice. “Shady” has the beat and I love the Sam Sparro parts because it sounds different. And of course, there’s “Underneath” which is just pure Adam to me. I, too, tend to skip over BTIKM because I’ve played it so much as a single. The Duke really likes NCOE and when we play it I do think it’s quite good and has the potential to really be a break out song for our boy. Unlike many, I really like “Kickin In”–there’s so many different types of sounds and styles in it that I think it’s really cool. I agree with the repetitiveness but still enjoy the sound.

Like Ellesay my grandkids in FRance are waiting for this album with great expectation but I will need to speak w/ my daughter about some of the songs. I don’t want her to think her mom and dad have flipped out when she hears the lyrics to some of these club numbers and I don’t want her to think I’m corrupting the grandkids just because I love Adam. It’s not necessarily an album for 10 year olds. That said, I can picture them singing like crazy to some of the songs although they won’t get” the meaning (but their parents might not be too happy)

I think it’s been a long time since I loved an ALBUM but I definitely do this one.The entire album is brilliant. He deserves every accolade that’s coming along because there’s been nothing like it or more importantly him for a very long time.

  29. sparkle says:

It looks … I’m not sure what it looks like … futuristic, maybe. Is he on a spaceship? Fun to guess.

He did say “very soon” recently in an interview.

Of course an “Adam-very-soon” could mean September. Big Smile

Listening to Trespassing for the second time. I love the entire album, I can’t believe it. I never love an album.
    But…
I had to skip over Underneath after the first 30 seconds or so. I can’t listen to it again, my chest closes up and I can’t breathe. I have never been so affected by any song ever, to the point that I can’t listen to it.

Lamdomonium? That is such a great new term!

    Tour name!
Adam has said that he wasn’t sure about naming the tour after the album, wanted something more creative.
I would DEF go to a lambdemonium tour!
Course, I will go to his tour by any name…who am I kidding? and as many as I can manage. sigh.

I liked in a recent interview that Adam said he got strength from seeing the same faces at multiple concerts, that he felt supported. I have wondered what he thought of that. He has never really come out and said that it actually made a difference to him and that he looked forward to seeing those faces.

So, SPGs have served a purpose.
I am glad for all concerned.

Did Adam say Lamdomonium in that interview? Didn’t hear it.

  46. sparkle says:

eywflyer – thank you for asking for our opinions on the album! My perspective may be a bit different than others so here goes – I love the album but for me the lyrics in the beginning of Take Back took some time to get used to. I like the song now , although it’s not one of my favorites. The only song that I dislike part of is Broken English. Although I love the rest of the song, I really don’t like the bridge – it doesn’t seem to belong in the song at all. Love the drama of Runnin’, definitely one of my favorites. Love the “laugh” in Adam’s voice in Naked Love and the infectious groove of Cuckoo and Shady back to back is probably my favorite part of the album. Underneath is so haunting and I get tears in my eyes every time I listen to it.

I haven’t opened my cd yet, but when I downloaded the album from itunes, the songs were listed in reverse order. The first time, I made sure that I listened to the songs in the correct order but now I just let it play over and over again backwards while I’m working on the computer. And I love it that way, starting with Nirvana, TB and Runnin’ and the darker stuff and moving toward the lighter side. It builds up my anticipation for Shady, Cuckoo and Trespassing, with TSP summing up the whole album. For a change of pace, listen to it that way some time and let me know what you think!
Thanks so much, eywflyer , for this site – it is a very special and unique place!

  47. glambotgram says:

luval I didn’t hear it either, the comment came from twitter, I noticed they came into it in the middle of a conversation so maybe it was missed at the beginning.

Whatever, we have adopted it now.

  48. mmm222 says:

My updated impression of the album is that I could not love it more. My first listen was in my car in the garage with my eyes shut just taking it all in. The songs are so beautiful with so many layers, and that voice…just incredible! This album is so much more cohesive and consistent than FYE. I love every song. Each is special in its own way. My favorite today is Runnin, but I’m sure it will change day to day. I have been listening to the album continuously in the car as I drive around. It’s so enjoyable, but I can’t pick up all the subtleties in the music with the background noise of the engine and other cars. I need to get a better sound system in my house or move out to the garage. (I think that it would cost less to get a decent indoor sound system than to put plumbing and a kitchen in the garage!) I can’t wait to hear the live versions of the songs. Wilkes Barre is in only 6 days!
