After what has seemed like an eternally long wait since Adam’s Glam Nation/FYE era ended, we have finally arrived at May 2012 – the month that Adam’s new album “Trespassing” will be released! The album will drop in the U.S. & Canada on May 15th. Lucky fans in New Zealand & Japan will get the album a few days earlier on May 11th, Australia & Germany a few days later on May 18th, while some other European countries (U.K., Ireland, France) will have to wait until July. In addition to the album release, we can look forward to three concerts with Adam headlining this month, the KRZ Summer Bash in Wilkes-Barre PA on May 25th, at Six Flags New England on May 26th, and the Freshtival in National Harbor MD on May 27th. We will also see Adam perform on American Idol May 17th, will have the official push of “Never Close Our Eyes” to pop radio beginning on May 29, and may see the music video for NCOE later this month as well!

Our featured photo for this month’s chat comes from Adam’s mini-concert of April 26th on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

It’s going to be an exciting month as we begin the Trespassing era, enjoy the chat!

what show is he doing today???

  2. rs says:

For those of you who aren’t “feeling” Kickin’ In and wish he had replaced it with Runnin’ on the standard album, he didn’t write that one for us! I remember in an interview, way before we even heard the snippets, when he was describing the songs, that he said that Kickin In was for his “girls” at the gay clubs. I remember feeling that it was a private gift to his community that I wasn’t a part of, which, of course, if fine. I love the song, by the way. I could never find that interview, but maybe one of you who saves them and is more organized than me, has it. The only one I wasn’t that so into was Pop That Lock, but hearing the whole song, it grew on me, too.

Hi everyone! Last night, I came home from my daughter’s concert at school and sat down to watch Idol. I knew I had to watch Wednesday’s show first but when I checked my recordings, the only Idol show was 5-16! I screamed (but I don’t think it was out loud). I watched that show and when my other daughter, who I had texted to make sure Idol was being taped, waltzed in, I couldn’t even talk to her right away. Then I said “you didn’t tape Idol”. “Mom, it’s just American Idol”, she pointed out. I said “No, ADAM LAMBERT IS PERFORMING” in a too loud voice. Then I got the major eyerolls and comments under her breath as she walked away. Should have kept better control – 29 is too old to have temper tantrums!

Luckily, last night’s show was on On Demand so I was able to watch and rewatch Adam’s performance this morning (7 times and counting). Loved it! I too thought Adam was just ever so slightly not perfect on the first few notes and then he nailed the rest of the song. Loved the guy in the audience with the neon pink shirt yelling for Adam before he started (when Seacrest was introducing Adam). And loved the way Adam went over to each and every band members during the song, especially when he pointed to Brian London singing “I don’t wanna miss a second with you” – so sweet! I liked the neon yellow gauges in the dark but not in the light – too distracting – took focus away from his beautiful face! Okay, that’s enough from me – sorry for the extra long comments!

  4. rs says:

eywflyer, I know that you said to keep MJs away from here after last nights performance, but I hope that it will be OK for me to bring this over. If you want me to delete it, I will. One of Adam’s great critics on MJs, who lately has also had some very good things to say about him, got a firsthand report from someone who was there, and I thought that you would all like to see what it said:

    Nele621

Some quick notes from someone who was there (no, not me). She thought the show was really boring and dragged. J-Lo beautiful, Ryan short, Jessica really tiny. The audience was wild and loud for Lambert. The colors of his performance was eye-catching. The bright yellow that every band member wore matched the Trespassing lettering. No mention of him being pitchy or the backup singers being off. She was impressed how he showcased every member of the band, and also thought he moved well on stage. She said Lambert’s vocals are really strong.

  5. Ron says:

Rolling Stone blurb about Adam’s performance last night:

dam Lambert is back on the Idol stage wearing the outfit that every singer in the Eighties wishes they could have worn: Neon green earrings that match his neon green shirt that match his neon green nails, paired with A Flock of Seagulls. The whole band could sit in not for a real Eighties band, but for a band playing at the prom in a John Hughes movie, and no one would notice. Adam’s song “Never Close Our Eyes” is fun and energetic, and it is good that he is performing on the penultimate results show, because it makes you realize how boring and staid the Idol contestants are this year. Joshua can perform, but not like Glambert.

Green? Rolls Eyes Is that a diss about the band? I thought they sounded great.

ETA: Oops. Looks like I didn’t highlight the “A” in Adam’s name. It was there! The paragraph doesn’t begin with “dam” Lambert. Big Smile

  6. Kradamour says:

HKFan, I have an older BMW convertible that I would never give up…it has a “vintage” sound system, though, with a cassette deck. I only use it for a radio, and generally listen to our NPR (public radio talk) station if I listen to anything at all while I drive. Silence is nice, usually – life is so full of noise. The only time I listen to music is when I am alone in the kitchen making dinner.

rs, I remember that comment by Adam re his girls in the clubs. I find the song addicting, so robotic and hard, like a hammer hitting an anvil. Liking it more and more.

  7. luval says:

Good morning…taking a quick break at work. Hope those videos from last night work when I get home.

Under a black light sometimes neon yellow and neon green (ish) take on a similar look. Think that’s where the confusion comes in. And yes, NO bumblebees! Nails, pins, bracelets ok.

  8. luval says:

Oh and did anyone notice Adam had On a Chinese nail guard on his left pinkie finger. If I could bring over a photo on my iPhone I would.

  9. Kradamour says:

I did notice he had something but wasn’t sure what it was. A Chinese nail guard?

  10. sparkle says:

luval – I did notice the nail guard (it was so long, it was hard not to), although I had no idea what it was!!

  11. sparkle says:

Ron – LOL – I thought the article started with damn Lambert and didn’t think anything of it because damn Lambert made the 3 contestants look and sound pretty ordinary by comparison!!!

  12. riskylady says:

Kradamour, rs, I love Kickin In too! It’s so good, someone made a YouTube of just the falsetto harmonies that Adam did for that song – now, we know he doesn’t use his falsetto that much, but in this case it’s fabulous! I think it’s a very original song, unlike anything anyone else is doing and the crowd at iHeartRadio seemed to groove to it. Also, it may be Sauli’s fave, Adam did say he liked the Pharrell songs.
Anyhoo, Krad, I have the exact same reaction: I get ALL of the songs in my head randomly. Love or like them all since first listen, which maybe happens to many people, which may be why the album is selling more than singles on iTunes and may be why “album of the year” is being bandied about!
And, I’m happy for you! Isn’t this sort of a Kradamour breakthrough? ‘Cause, do I remember that you weren’t crazy about recorded music, liking live performances more? Hope you can find more listening time – this music was MADE for iPod/earphone listening. GREAT for walking, working out btw. Tried it yesterday!
Hubby is now a full-blown out and proud Glambert. I have to give him news updates throughout the day. Cool

  13. riskylady says:

I think a lot of people see that neon yellow as chartreause which technically is a shade of green.

Great job on Idol! On my iTunes, album is a #2 right now, but has been alternating between #2 and #1 all morning.
I think he has 6 or 7 songs, including WWFM, in top 200 on POP, and NCOE is up there, but seems still like folks are just saying, hell, I’ll just get the album.

  14. rs says:

When I first saw the video of last night’s performance, my reaction was GREEN! and you know that I am not going to diss Adam. I was thinking of how it was glowing in the dark, this year’s version of the lasers he used a few years ago. It took me a couple of minutes to click that they were the colors of Trespassing (silly me) Giggle

    I noticed the nail guard!

  15. Ron says:

    Thanks. Smile

  17. Ron says:

    Rob Lowe? Big Smile

There was a special moment during Adam’s performance that stood out for me and I kept going back to it again and again and made a vid capture. It’s towards the end of the song when he’s really feeling the beat and then there’s this one-second profile shot where he smiles.

I think he does resemble Rob Lowe here:

    http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL629/13192141/24087654/402621940.jpg

Did this smile to the audience stand out for anyone else?

  18. milwlovesadam says:

I have some type of music or TV on at all times. I just feel naked or empty without something to listen to. Back when I was younger and in school, I studied with music playing. My family now knows of my “affliction.” I do enjoy quiet times, usually in the woods hiking or at the beach. When driving, I play music loud. At home, I have music playing right now. You know who.

Funny, when I’m at the beach, if someone is playing loud music,, I actually go over and ask them if they would mind turning it down. I prefer listening to the wind and waves. Last summer a family plunked themselves down right next to our family and turned on a boom-box with super loud country music. It was making me nuts!! Of course, they also brought cigarettes and plenty of booze to the beach. Gadzooks!

Thanks for the Milw On Tap link eywflyer. That’s a new service of our local paper. It’s funny, as often as I’m online, I have never gone to that site. I read the paper everyday.

  19. milwlovesadam says:

Ron, that smile stood out for me too. He was just so happy.

I also noticed that his hair was now tipped silvery again, like the wolf from last summer. And, do I spot a little man-scaping in the chestal area?

And, I agree that Tyler said “perfect.”
    And JLo said “beautiful.”

Ron, that smile stood out for me too. He was just so happy.

    Hi mils!

Yes he was happy! He was wrapping the song up, almost finished and, at that point, it just must have felt ‘right’ and he knew he was giving a good performance.

I think he was pumped by the audience reaction, just knew “this is working” and was very pleased with how it went.

  21. eywflyer says:

The surprise for later today is now in preparation. Smile

  22. Kradamour says:

Isn’t this sort of a Kradamour breakthrough? ‘Cause, do I remember that you weren’t crazy about recorded music, liking live performances more?

Yes and no, riskylady. Generally I prefer studio versions, Adam is the only performer whose studio performances I haven’t liked. And I think I like the studio performances of Trespassing better because I “know” Adam well enough now that I can hear what he might do live, and ignore/almost block out the studio production.

I don’t see myself listening to it a lot, though, except in my head. I don’t have a CD player in the house, either, I use one of the computers. Trespassing is on my HP tablet with beats audio and I used headphones when I listened to it. So now it is in my head and I don’t need to listen to an external source. Does that make sense? There is almost always music running through my head but almost never anything “playing” in the house or car that anyone else would hear.

That was a breathtakingly large photo, Ron. Lots of detail… Love it!

So what IS that nail guard, exactly? Trust Adam to have an eccentric accessory!

  23. glambotgram says:

I found this, it is long but interesting.

Western stereotypes of Chinese emperors and nobles often make much of gorgeous red and yellow silk robes, dainty slippers, and — at least in written accounts — fingernails long enough to mark the person above any possibility of manual labor. One item of ornamental dress with which few in the dress might be familiar — outside of Goth circles — is the fingernail protector, or guard, which might be worn as a single jewel on the hand or in multiple sets.

According to Dragon Robes ( a lovely online exhibit provided by the San Diego Museum of Art), “Fingernail protectors were worn by a very elite group–Manchu court ladies of the late Qing dynasty. Although scholars of Chinese costumes usually date fingernail protectors to the Qing dynasty, they are in fact characteristic only of the late 19th century. Portraits of early Qing court ladies show natural fingernails. Late Qing rulers, however, pursued a life of absolute luxury. For example, photographs and portraits of Empress Jixi (1835-1908) show her wearing two or three nail shields on each of her hands–a sign of her ability to rely upon servants to carry out any of her wishes, as she herself could perform no manual tasks.” [Qing Dyansty: 1644-1912]

The wearing of fingernail protectors was specifically associated with the Manchurian high culture of the Qing Dynasty. Han men were forced by law to wear Manchu clothing and to groom themselves by Manchu custom, whereas Han women were free to continue wearing traditional Han fashions. According to the Global Chinese Language and Culture Center, “Manchu women felt that long fingernails were a status symbol they protected them with fingernail covers that were finely carved and inlayed with gold silver and gem”

    Suspense Suspense Suspense Suspense

  25. rs says:

Among Middle Eastern men you often see a long fingernail on the little finger and it is supposed to be a sign that they don’t do manual labor.

I personally find it quite off putting when I see it, but Adam’s fingernail guard was very cool

  28. Miss Chaos says:

Surprise? The yellow and black screen will be back? Which I loved by the way!

You know Adams sales numbers???? A surprise means good?

Lets see what else. Hes doing a large concert in the States that we dont know about?

    I love surprises1! Grin Grin

I loved Adam last nite, how different was that without going over the top. Ug next week Rhianna, they can bleep out her whole stinkin performance. But Adam has to stay goodie 2 shoes! I still dont like NCOE, why o why did they pick that for second single? Unless they thought Bruno Mars would help the single sales. I say we dont need no stinkin Bruno Mars, any one of the other songs on the album would have gone to Number One. They are of little faith for Adam and his singing and writing skills!!! But I agree with others that people are buying the album cause they like all the songs not just the single. But you know what, if he is going to get nominated for another Grammy, it would have to be a song like BTIKM or NCOE not some Shady or Cuckoo song ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

  29. eywflyer says:

Miss Chaos, no inside info on the sales numbers here, although HDD should post another update sometime later this afternoon. Hopefully they will confirm an expected #1 showing!

I’d love to switch back to the Trespassing color scheme tonight along with the surprise, but those colors introduced some difficult technical problems that I haven’t solved yet.

They’re also referred to as “finger ring armor” and there are over 1300 listings and many different designs available on eBay.

I’ve long thought about buying one. But wearing one to the Bars would be very impractical for me. With as many times as I reach into my back pocket for my wallet to buy another beer, I’d rip my pants to shreds.

  38. Kradamour says:

I really hope that Adam sees the Rockin Ron video, it is so funny and sweet and it is exactly what Adam wants for his fans, to be free and do what they want. I think he would love it.

Yeah, and if she’s legit, which remains to be seen, I have big respect for her. It takes some guts to do an about-face like she seems to be in the midst of; she posted something along the lines of gaining respect for Adam’s talents after having seen him on his performance with Queen. I always figure that if we can see one head turning, there are many others out there we aren’t seeing–it’s a little proof that his fan base really is expanding.

I don’t go to the other site anymore but I find it hard to believe someone could make such a total turnaround, I remember her vitriol from before. And how is she allowed to “stick up for Adam” we never were. Something smells funny.
