After what has seemed like an eternally long wait since Adam’s Glam Nation/FYE era ended, we have finally arrived at May 2012 – the month that Adam’s new album “Trespassing” will be released! The album will drop in the U.S. & Canada on May 15th. Lucky fans in New Zealand & Japan will get the album a few days earlier on May 11th, Australia & Germany a few days later on May 18th, while some other European countries (U.K., Ireland, France) will have to wait until July. In addition to the album release, we can look forward to three concerts with Adam headlining this month, the KRZ Summer Bash in Wilkes-Barre PA on May 25th, at Six Flags New England on May 26th, and the Freshtival in National Harbor MD on May 27th. We will also see Adam perform on American Idol May 17th, will have the official push of “Never Close Our Eyes” to pop radio beginning on May 29, and may see the music video for NCOE later this month as well!

Our featured photo for this month’s chat comes from Adam’s mini-concert of April 26th on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

It’s going to be an exciting month as we begin the Trespassing era, enjoy the chat!

I found videos for all except Naked Love and WWFM, if you find those post ’em here and I will add. Also post here if you find better videos than the ones I’m using – I threw this together rather quickly.

The featured photo is not from the iHeart event, but I think you will approve Smile

eywflyer: That picture you chose for the iHeart radio recap must be one of my favorites ever.

Just a few hours away now from the posting of the HDD sales estimates. I believe that this gets posted at the earliest around 11 AM Eastern time, but more typically in the early afternoon. Very nervous but hoping for the best – this number is huge in determining Adam’s future.

    Here’s the link again:

You will see a “ONE-DAY SALES” article in the right-hand Latest News column, and it may be the lead story at the top of the page as well.

Ouch for Kris. They didn’t have to be that mean.
    I liked this part:

he launches a campaign RCA Vice President of marketing Nick Pirovano claims will stretch well into 2013. “We know this album has several singles,” Pirovano says, adding, “We want a No. 1 album, and we feel good about the setup

  6. Ron says:

    Good Morning

I’d still be asleep if a practice fire drill didn’t wake me at 8:30am. Side Frown I was up until 3:00am with headphones listening to Trespassing 3 times in a row. I can’t seem to get enough of it.

eywflyer, in your experience, what HDD sales projection figure would be considered poor, good, or excellent? What are you hoping to see that we can look forward to seeing later on?

  7. eywflyer says:

Ron, idol history tells us that the long term success stories generally do at least 50% of their first album first week sales with the second album first week sales (now there’s a mouthful). I would be thrilled with 100K or more, pleased with 85-100K, meh about 60-80K, upset with 50-60K, and crushed by less than 50K. My current expectation is still meh, the iTunes & amazon numbers have been very strong but it isn’t even listed in top 100 at Walmart and i am not sure that the physical CD sales will be strong enough. My guess is that Adam fans skew to online & digital outlets rather than brick & mortor.

What’s your guess as to the number we will see?

ETA: FYE sold 198K its first week.

  8. rs says:

eywflyer, I beat you to it for once! I posted that wonderful tweet from Eber as soon I got up this morning (my time) just a few minutes after he sent it.

  9. glambotgram says:

rs and eywflyer that tweet and picture from Eber truly made me start out my day in tears. Eber we know how you feel, we are very proud of this “baby” also.

  10. rs says:

I know glambotgram. It brought me to tears, too.

  11. Oksana2000 says:

Eywflyer, Walmart.com has Trespassing at #18 on best seller list. Do you have any other list to look at?

What’s your guess as to the number we will see?

TLKC and I talked about this yesterday when we were together. She’s hoping for 80,000. She bases that figure on the usual 60% drop in Idol sophomore albums and factors in the 40,000 sales for the acoustic CD and roughly the same number for the GNT DVD. When she put it that way to me, it seemed to make sense. She doesn’t really expect 80,000 but that’s what she hopes it will be and that’s the figure that I’m looking at.

I’m hoping, as surely we all do, that the number will surpass everyone’s expectations and reaches 100,000.

We don’t have much longer to wait and here’s hoping. Fingers Crossed Pray

I’m interested to know which song is in your head when you wake up in the morning.
I have a different one every day.

nkd and everyone else. It is a different one everyday. And sometimes it changes by the hour. The hardest is going to bed at night. Last night “Runnin’was in my head and 2 hours later I was still awake and still Runnin!!

Put the CD in my car this AM (yesterday’s airing was in the Dukes’s car)and thought Shady would be my traveling to work song–it was good but Runnin’was the one that made me feel I was on the road and put me in a great state for working this AM.

JUst an aside but I like “kickin’ In” Haven’t seen the I heart radio version yet but do believe that song could be really fun for Adam if he works out the kinks I’m hearing about but the CD version is kinda cool.

  14. eywflyer says:

Oksana do you have a link? I may have been looking in the wrong place wasn’t seeing Trespassing at all.

Rs, I missed that you posted first, cool. That pic brought tears to my eyes too.

Ron, my concern with Adam having a typical idol drop is that the typical idol seems to get dropped by their record label after the 2nd album. That is something too horrifying for me to contemplate happening to Adam.

  15. rs says:

Actually, nkd posted the picture with the heading “proud dad” exactly one minute after I posted the tweet, so let’s call it a tie. lol

  16. rs says:

Guys, There is nothing typical about Adam, Idol or no Idol! Smirk

  17. Oksana2000 says:

Eywflyer, I don’t know how to do copy/paste on my tablet. Try Walmart.com/music and you will find it.

  18. glambotgram says:

I’m interested to know which song is in your head when you wake up in the morning.
I have a different one every day.

Shady, Runnin, Trespassing, Cuckoo, it changes, and includes some others. I will say it is never BTIKM, Kickin-in or Take.

  19. Oksana2000 says:

    Eywflyer,Walmart.com/browse/music. Adam is currently #19.

  20. eywflyer says:

Oksana, got it, Trespassing is #19. Not bad considering that walmart demographics skew rural. Idk what list I was looking at.

Songs most in my head so far – Broken English, Kickin In, OOL, Runnin, Shady. There isn’t a single track I don’t like though.

ETA: oh yea Chokehold too, love the old school mid tempo Duran Duran vibe!

  21. adamized says:

I’m very tempted to change my “handle” to “Proud Mama”. Yesterday was a very special day for my Adam family and for my real life family. You all of course know how amazing it was (and is) to see our boy’s picture under ITunes #1 for both pop and all genres. He is getting the recognition he so richly deserves and am trying to pace myself from listening too much to the songs I love (almost all of them BTW with the exception of TSP, BTIKM, and NCOEs) Now onto my real son….

My son received news yesterday that he was accepted into Medical School. I have never seen him so happy and so relived. This has been a grueling process that many folks need to go through more than once. He is so lucky that he can get started on his dream without additional intermediate steps. We both know that this is just the beginning of many hard years of work ahead but getting in was the first huge hurdle.

  22. Oksana2000 says:

Am I the only one who loves Nirvana? Maybe listening to music in bed with closed eyes does the trick.

  23. eywflyer says:

RT @lambosessed: FULL SET of vids from Adam Lambert’s iHeartRadio gig today http://t.co/Z1QJ3zx5

Also hearing that Trespassing was #2 on the Pulse daily sales report for Tuesday behind something called Beach House. I’m told that report is indie record stores only and physical CDs only. If that’s true then #2 on that list is very good.

  24. rs says:

congrats ProudMamma! You can be very proud of both your boys

Oksana2000, I love Nirvana, too, along with all the songs on the album. It is so hard to chose a favorite. I can’t even try.

  25. eywflyer says:

Best look I’ve had at this particular photo – must find copy of RS!

RT @Fanadama: Adam looks soooo good. #RollingStone http://t.co/Omip6LI1

  26. Oksana2000 says:

Eywflyer,I think that you cannot buy album twice from ITunes and download on your comp, so the sales on iTunes are real (not skewed by multiple buying by fans). Am I correct?

  27. eywflyer says:

Oksana, I think that is correct. I know soundscan will toss out “unusual” sales such as someone buying 20 copies at one store, but if they do a tour of several stores such as Jlurk did yesterday then the sales would all count.

  28. glambotgram says:

Ilike Nirvana too but I just started listening yesterday so it is very new to me and not the earworm that Runnin is. It will probably be on my list next week. LOL

  29. glambotgram says:

adamizedProud mama That is sooo awesome for your son. I know the wait for acceptance is agony. I have a son at GW getting his PHD in chemistry and we were doing the waiting game last year, and medical school is so much harder to get into. Congrats, you will always remember it was Trespassing day.

  30. AL says:

eywflyer, here’s that report. Good to see Adam at #2!

  31. Oksana2000 says:

When I listen to Nirvana I always think of Adam and Sauli in Bora Bora. Maybe that what this song is about? Do you hear sound of harmonica in one of the layers?

  32. eywflyer says:

#Trespassing sales rankings 1215 PM EDT:
    iTunes:
    Deluxe #1 pop #1 overall.
    Standard #14 pop #60 overall.

    Amazon deluxe #5
    Barnes & Noble deluxe #2
    Walmart deluxe #19

  33. adamized says:

Oksana2000 I LOVE Nirvana. Maybe the most. Twittered the co-writer yesterday after he tweeted out his role in the creation, saying it was my favorite as of now. I also LOVE Take Back.

RS and Glambotgram thanks for the congrats. RS, my son is also considering a medical college in Israel. Are you aware of the Sackler School? If so, let me know and we can email each other off line.

  34. rs says:

adamized, I don’t know that medical school per se, except that it is connected to Tel Aviv University and is considered very good, but I have a lot to say about medical schools here in general,

Timed the refresh on my browser just right for the ALF presale and got Circle Row BB at the Pacific Amphitheatre for the July 19 show, yay! adamland and I will be attending! We would like to have another dinner as we did before Adam’s July 2010 concert at that venue, hope some of y’all can join us.

Now I gotta look for flights, I’ll be flying from South Florida to So Cal twice in two weeks as I already had a Palm Springs trip booked for the end of July. The crazy things we do for Adam…

  37. mmm222 says:

I just came in from another hour of bliss surrounded by Adam’s voice in the car: seat back and reclined, windows up, eyes closed, unbelievable! The album is just amazing! The production is excellent and does not overwhelm his vocals at all. The layering of vocals, instrumentals and other sounds(!) is mind boggling. I wonder if some of the so called critics were really listening to the layering and the words, and also were aware that all of the harmonizing and layered voices, other than in Shady, were all Adam. I really love every song, except Kickin In, but am sure that will grown on me. Favorites at the moment are: Shady, Underneath, OOL and Running. I’m looking forward to hearing all the variations we’ll see of these songs in the live performances. Now I’ll have to check out the DVD.

  38. fwachdr says:

    Oksana–I also love Nirvana!
Adamized–congrats to your son! It is a long haul but very rewarding!

  39. Ron says:

Sounds like you have great seats, eywflyer! Good for you!! Y-A-Y!

I’m checking every few minutes for the HDD One Day Sales report and I don’t see it. A friend just emailed and said that the figure won’t be released today but instead it will be next week.

    Confused

  40. glambotgram says:

congrats eywflyer, so happy for you,

I meant to say earlier that I love the pic for the iheart radio page. I play a little game with myself and try to conjure up in my mind what picture you will use. I got the last 3 right on the nose. lol

  41. eywflyer says:

Ron, they normally post estimates for the first week based on one day sales (Tuesday). The hard numbers are posted on their album chart next Monday and Tuesday (partial report Monday, finalized Tuesday). I’ve been refreshing every few minutes too.

Thanks for the concert good wishes, they are excellent seats and the Pacific Amphitheatre is a great place to watch a show. I was fortunate enough stumble across front row pit tickets on Stubhub for the 7/27/10 Glam Nation show there and got to watch it all a few feet from the stage, leaning against the barricade. Unforgettable memory. Hope to see you again at another Adam concert soon!

  42. firstimerob says:

Eywflyer I am so stoked I got a ticket row FFF seat 6. When it says will call can you pick up at anytime for I live real close. Congrats to you to. Can’t wait.

  43. adamized says:

RS copied your email. Will be in touch. Thanks!

  44. eywflyer says:

glambotgram, thanks glad you like the pic – sounds like you know me Better Than I Know Myself Smile

  45. eywflyer says:

firstimerob awesome that’s a pit seat and they should let you go right up to the stage barricade if you want to! Not sure if Circle seats get to do that or not, but adamland and I will be plenty close to the stage in any case.

Not sure about when you can pick up from Will Call, they may not print the tickets until soon before the event. I’d suggest calling the Pacific Amphitheatre box office on that.

We will be putting together a pre-concert dinner somewhere close to the venue, hope you can join us!

  46. glambotgram says:

glambotgram, thanks glad you like the pic – sounds like you know me Better Than I Know Myself

LOL With all these new songs, soon we will have a line from a song for every possible post.

  47. mmm222 says:

adamized– Congratulations on your son’s med school acceptance! My daughter graduated from UM med school last year. I have many family members over multiple generations, including myself, who are MD’s, so I have lots of perspective on US med schools. We can talk about it in Wilkes Barre if you’d like. If you want to reach me sooner, Kradamour has all my contact info.

  48. mieps says:

Congrats to all the ticket getters! It’s gonna be great.

Adamized on top of your tickets, congrats on your son’s study. Awesome news.

  49. turquoisewaters says:

Am I the only one who loves Nirvana?

Nope. I love it too. Last thing I want to listen to before I go to bed. First thing that pops into my head in the morning. I get all kinds of warm and fuzzy feelings from that song, not to mention Adam/Sauli images that are none of my business. A serene beauty of a song.

  50. missdfyed says:

The proud Papa pic was just so priceless. I hope Adam is back in LA celebrating with Sauli and resting his voice before the Idol performance he must be exhausted, but a very content, relieved exhaustion.
I switch to what song is runnin thru my head, it has been either Chokehold, Runnin or Broken English, but I find myself constantly singing one of them. After seeing the IHeart radio videos I cannot wait for the different live versions that he will come up with on tour. My i-pod will overfloweth!
