As a dedicated Savoyard, loved Pirates of Penzance. Very clever.
But if you want to see a truly great movie – try “Topsy-Turvy” – directed by Mike Leigh – tells how the two men created “The Mikado” (my favorite G&S operetta). It is filled with great music, great dialogue, fantastic acting (Jim Broadbent as Gilbert), and is one of my favorite movies of all time.
Enjoyed that Auditory slam review, and the comments. See how nice the fans can be when the reviewers play fair.
I had a message from AO saying my cd had been shipped on may 10th……how do you all track yours. or can that only be done in the US??
I saw a picture of that Times cover, is the boy only 3, thought he looked older. I don’t really have too much of a problem with it as I have a friend that fed her kids till they were 3, and seeing it in ‘real’ life, it didn’t seem that much of a big deal. But I suppose the cover is very in your face, as opposed to discreet.
I haven’t had a shipping message from Amazon yet. I ordered the deluxe version many moons ago. I guess time will tell….
Topsy Turvey sounds interesting.
I’m still imagining Adam as Frederic. Although, teehee, I bet he wanted to be the Pirate King. Can you even imagine him doing “Hail Hail Piracy?” THUD.
Kevin Line nearly killed me back in the day. My mom too. I got it on VHS eons ago. Wonder if I still have it.
Think I’ll You Tube that little ditty.
Correction: “With Cat-Like Tread.”
Ahem. I see where Adam got his EMA boots from!! He took ’em from Kevin Kline’s closet!

My Internet Service Provider was apparently doing some work around here yesterday and today. I’ve been unable to get into any sites until just a little while ago when all the lights suddenly popped bright green on my modem.
So, my question is this: Is anyone besides me missing the edit function on here?
ETA: Just checked back and am now able to Edit. Thanks.
Could definitely see Adam doing G&S – he’s got the fluidity of voice, preciseness of pronunciation, and sly humor that the roles require. He’d be a hoot.
Yup. Ultimathule, there is so much humor, especially in Pirates.
Kevin Kline was positively yummy, I think he won the Tony for it too.
Just add G&S to the wish list of things for Adam to do…
mils, I FLOVE poutine. A friend from Quebec always hosts a poutine party for the feast of St Jean Baptiste – end of June. I start salivating a month in advance…ooh, this works well, a month in advance is the weekend of the Adam concerts in WB and DC…that salivating will be entirely appropriate lol!
Totally agree! and I’ll add my voice to yours, ultimathule, to recommend Topsy Turvy. It could have been just a fluff movie but turned into so much more.
Was it Merchant Ivory? I think so.Here is link to trailers and info:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0151568/
Sorry mils, I did miss your question so I went back a couple of pages.
I saw parts of the movie “The Pirate of Penzance” so I’m not overly familiar with it. I don’t know what you mean by “frequently-often”. Sorry.
Did I ever tell you that I had coffee with Kevin Kline when I was living in NYC?
Aaaaaannnnnd, the great reviews just keep on coming! This one, score of 9 out of possible 10. Reviews several tracks individually, very well written.
http://www.underthegunreview.net/2012/05/12/review-adam-lambert-trespassing/
I wonder how much attention/readership these billions of blog-based reviewers receive? I have never heard of most of them, which means absolutely nothing given that I have never bothered with reviews before.

Mils, you’re only doing GMA on Monday?
What about VH1 Buzz at 10 a.m., Billboard Q&A I believe at 3 p.m. and the MLB concert at 6:30 p.m. I think all are streaming live, as well as the Z100 concert on the 15th….
j/s…..
Krad, the one I posted just above had more than 4,400 likes on it – I guess that is some indication. Most of them now have a “like” indicator. This one was also on Twitter, which gives some indication.
There is a person on Twitter who has been tracking twitter activity worldwide re: Trespassing, under @Adamimpresses. She says volumes have picked up a lot, plus lots of comments about discovering FYE thru Trespassing.
She also says there are lots of smaller radio stations worldwide that play BTIKM and now NCOE. She’s working on collecting that info.
And all these blogs have following of some sort – a lot are in other countries. Word of mouth is always good, the more the merrier I think. Free publicity.
Think on Monday, riskylady, I’ll just pull the drapes and tell everyone I’ve left town.
Never assume anything but I assume
the Sunday New York Times review will be available tomorrow? Maybe it won’t be reviewed at all but, if it is, that’s an important one. New York Times reviews are always important and it can be difficult to meet their very high standards. A positive review will be a real triumph for Adam.
Oh, Ron, that scares the dickens out of me. Maybe I’ll take ultima‘s example and just stay behind closed drapes until after that and the sales numbers come out.

Ron, lunch with Kevin Kline, for real? Wowza. Details please kind sir.
Often/frequently has become a funny punch line in my family, because of Pirates.
Frederic is asking for mercy from the pirate king and the Modern Major General, because he is an “awfun.” So the Major General asks him, “when you say “awfun” are you referring to a person who has lost his parents, or “awfun” frrrequently?”
So, often/frequently is a joke for us!!
Kind of like at the end of Moonstruck when the old grandpa says in a tense moment “somebody tell a joke.”
But, my faves, used in just the right moments, are still Mel Brooks. “put ze candle back.” “It’s twue it’s twue.” “Abby Normal.” “It’s good to be da king.” Etc.
riskylady, VH1, OMG. I’ll be with you in my jammies completley unkempt , ferklempt if you will, behind closed curtains, house in disarray…..Monday can’t get here fast enough!!
About EW, hubby and I have been theorizing, and we now think that Cagle guy is one of the “catty” ones and has been sanctioning all the snark about Adam from the get-go, including the stupid review. It’s almost been like a campaign. They ignored his very noteworthy Queen performance, froze him out of all the pics with Elton and Katy Perry at the Oscar Party, snark in the Bullseye, snarky
BTIKM video review, etc. And People hasn’t been as snarky, but they have ignored him.
I am cancelling both with a letter which I am composing.
24/7 has the Billboard review. It’s very very good. They messed up the GN stats, maybe somebody could remind them of the much bigger numbers. I can’t post there, haven’t figured out how to do that and not make it look as if my son doing the posting on different sites.
I tried to bring it here, can’t.
I’m holding off my judgement on People. They just had him a in a cute bit with his high school photo and a good quote about NCOE. Next week he should have an album review. Remember their feature on the most beautiful people? With the cockatoo? And that big two page spread of just his face glam/undone with a third page? He’s had several other mentions an blurbs in People too.
Hi riskylady!! I don’t remember reading the New York Times review for FYE but I was recently told it was given a very good write-up. So, that’s encouraging! Be great if they still have the same music critic. Could be.
I’m going to check their site after midnight.

For reviews,for sales…
I wish we could just keep this open on the side.
Hey guys: I was just setting up my DVR for Monday, when I searched Adam’s name I found another show, he will be on Watch What Happens Live on Bravo at 10 PM Central time, on Thursday May 24.
I honestly don’t know how we are gonna survive next week.
And our poor families. Poor poor neglected families.
I think I better start cooking now, ‘cuz momma’s off duty next week!! They can eat left-overs!!!
Mother’s Day?? How about Mother’s Week?
I find it interesting that the various reviewers have as many different favorites as we do. The songs some put at the top of their list are at the bottom of others.
Trespassing, Shady, Underneath and Outlaws of Love seem to be consistently praised.
I wonder if the reviewers faves change after another listen or a few as our faves do.
I seriously need an Adam guide that tells me when and where to watch. I’m having a difficult time keeping it straight.
mils here is the Billboard review.

Wonderful, nekkid! Love the gif!
Off to bed for me…need to get a head start on resting up for Monday!

So I’ll wish an early Happy Mother’s Day to all peeps who are mothers, and in the context of this blog especially to Leila! On this Mother’s Day, she must be so very proud of her son…and so grateful that the universe is looking after him…and so very satisfied with this part of her life’s work.
This is the first year that I can say with considerable satisfaction that both of my boys are living exactly the lives they dreamed of, and are happy and productive. No better mother’s day gift.
G’nite!

Sweet Adam dreams!
Coffee not lunch. For real.
A friend and I were walking in the theater district, looking for a place to grab a cup of coffee, when my friend suddenly stopped to greet this guy walking towards us. After a big bear hug hello, my friend introduced me to his friend Kevin Kline. This was before Kevin Kline was KEVIN KLINE. My friend suggested he join us for coffee and he immediately said yes. So, the three of us had coffee in this grubby little restaurant where Kevin told us he was going into rehearsal for a new Broadway musical, “On the Twentieth Century” starring Madeline Kahn. (I LOVED Madeline Kahn). I thought he was a very nice guy, smiled a lot and was very personable.
Of course I saw “On The Twentieth Century” (3 times, I think) and thought he was great in it! I’m pretty sure he won the Tony that year for best supporting actor in a musical. Madeline Kahn was terrific too!
My son in law is working on some plumbing for us and was here today, my husband had classic rock blaring in the basement where they were working. He has to come back Tuesday so I told him when he comes back the music will be different. He asked why so I told him Adam’s CD comes out on Tues, and I will be blasting it. He said cool he is a good singer, that he just didn’t like FYE. They do know me well enough that all I have to say is Adam. They do know which Adam. LOL
Wonder if our Non-sports guy knows what MLB stands for?
I don’t understand the problems some are having with Amazon. I doesn’t look like they are out of the Deluxe because it is still offered on their page and says this.
I wonder if some of the CS reps don’t know what they are talking about. Don’t they realize how important it is not to give us false info. I hope is is a fluke and all ordered CD’s arrive on Tuesday, or even earlier.
That’s interesting glambotgram because when I go to the page to order the deluxe version on Amazon.com it only indicates that it will be released on the 15th.
My box sex is in Laurel, MD – about half an hour away – Monday? The special print is coming separately. (Wow, sold out in minutes according to BB.)
HI ALL,

JUNE and JULY will be spent in London mostly. I’m so excited to be rehearsing w Queen and being out and about here and there! I LOVE London
I didn’t find anything in the New York Times and the website indicates it is the Sunday edition.
Peeked over at EW … 1,399 comments.
ETA: 1,400 comments! Nearly as many as the complaints received following the AMA’s only this time 99.9% of the posters are in Adam’s corner.
When I checked a couple of hours ago on Amazon.com for CD Best Sellers, “Trespassing” was at #16 with a down arrow. Just now, it’s #10 with an up arrow.
There is a free download on amazon of “Don’t Say” by Scars on 45, one of the acts at Freshtival in DC with Adam.

Thanks, nkd dl’d “Don’t Say” – like it.
And for the calendar of events – glad to get that – can’t keep them straight.

KingAdamstan!!!Nobody is up yet, I guess.
I’m heading out for Mother’s Day Dinner soon.
Hope you all enjoy your breakfast in bed.
Morning Peeps! Happy Mother’s Day to all you Moms out there. RS loved your thoughts regarding CL. Irreverence is her shtick but she led Adam through all the important messages.
Happy belated birthday Mils .
I wish I didn’t have to work tomorrow. Maybe I can go in late after GMA. My guess he will be on closer to 9am since they usually save the best for last to keep you watching.
B&N sent me tracking info. As of May 11th my CDs were in Kentucky.
Good morning everyone:
So I heard from my musician drummer friend. He likes the album and favorite songs are Shady (sent him the sessions video), NCOE, Naked Love, BTIKM, Underneath, Chokehold, OOL & Nirvana. As you can see all (except Shady), the second half. He feels the first half is too electronic sounding but he’s a purist and not a pop fan so I understand and will only buy the vinyl version.Told him when he sings live his voice will soar over the electronica.
He also is putting his album on his Facebook “album of the week” and posting Underneath to listen to. He has many followers & is well known around here so this is great!
Hi Adamized!!!! I’ll be at work tomorrow so my DVR will get a workout.
So Adam will be on Bravo “Watch What Happens Live” on Thursday the 24th. I really think the show is live so he’ll have to hop on plane really quick to get to WB for Friday night’s show! Can’t wait to see ya there!
Good morning and Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms!
Reviews still coming in, here’s a good one (4 out of 5 stars and really nice writeup) from the UK:
http://entertainment-focus.com/music/articles/adam-lambert-trespassing
More love from the NY Daily News, Adam at #1 (as he should be!) in this Top Ten in Music list:
http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/music-arts/jim-farber-top-ten-music-sunday-13-2012-article-1.1075043
Article from Next magazine:

Random blog review but I thought it was worth posting because the person didn’t like FYE and loves Trespassing (I didn’t see anything sexually explicit on that page even though the website name looks that way):
http://bonersandbitches.tumblr.com/post/22962765035/album-review-adam-lambert-trespassing
As Ron mentioned last night, nothing in the Sunday NY Times. I see no mention in the Sunday LA Times either, but the music writer there tweeted a few days ago that the album was really good and a review would be forthcoming.
ETA: the gang is on their way to NYC!
Thanks for the Links, eywflyer. Reading these glowing reviews as they keep coming in helps me to put the EW review in its proper context as it fades away and is already becoming a distant memory.
