The musical force that is Adam is marching full speed ahead. With recent appearances on Drag Race, AI and Glee, he is making his way back into the limelight (not that he ever left it for us here). With a news conference set for Thursday, March 6th at Madison Square Garden, we are sure to find out details of a Queen + AL tour. So get ready to jump on the bus! Oh, and don’t forget that Adam is still appearing on Glee and working on his own music too!

With the special announcement coming it was suggested to use a Q+AL photo for this month’s header. But what about all the other great photos from last month? Oh, the dilemma! Well, I hope this photo is a compromise. Taken at the London show by Mark Gledhill (glemazon), it shows Adam in the shadows about to emerge into the full spotlight. Cross your whatsits so that this tour results in getting this multi-talented performer the respect and recognition that he merits.

LOL, luval, it’s interesting when Adam and/or Brian find someone bigger and taller. They’re both pretty tall, but that announcer on GMA was huge and made them look quite small. And the guy in the pic is definitely a big guy too. I guess Adam maybe was wearing regular shoes, too.

I won’t bring it over, but the Google spreadsheet created by someone on Twitter (and MJs) has a total of 293,000 seats for this tour. Actually, she lists The Joint as 3,100 but on their site they say 4,000. I guess depends on the setup. But if 20,000 total are up for resale, that is just about 7%, so not bad. I had a look on StubHub, and not all the prices are terrible, either. I actually bought 4 on StubHub for MSG early on for about $97 over list, because it was impossible to get 3 or 4 together and I didn’t want to wait for prices to go even highter. They’re now selling for $450 from the venue (well, at least yesterday – probably gone by now). Then I found 2 more for list the next day, but in section 212.
Mainly I am happy that there was HUGE DEMAND!!! and I think Adam’s name and fame as an excellent singer and live performer had a lot to do with that. Even though many Idol viewers may not have followed his career after Idol, they must remember his run, and his finale with Queen and all the speculation about that. And maybe they’ve done a little research and seen what he’s doing now (Glee, etc.) and how he’s grown. I’m really excited for this tour, and cannot wait to see what surprises they have for the stage and setlist. Would love to hear them do some harmonies like they did early on, too.

And I am excited too for demand! That was my one wish when the tour was announced. I knew we’d all get tickets somewhere. Unfortunately there will be those empty seats for unsold stubhub, etc tickets. But that leaves more room for people to move around (closer) if security doesn’t get prickly.

I am sorry about everyone’s ticket woes. Back in the 90’s, Pearl Jam tried to breakaway from booking venues that ticketmaster controlled. They were concerned with ticket prices but also the add on fees that were charged. Eddie Vedder testified before Congress and also REM members. The outcome was they had to buckle because Ticketmaster controlled all the arena sized venues. So I don’t think this situation is going to change any time soon. It’s frustrating when big business controls so much.

I work for Ticketmaster so hopefully I can shed some light on this. The goal of TM+ (what you are refrencing) is primarily to reduce the amount of ticket sales in uncontrollable secondary markets. The tickets that have a higher price are those that are reposted by someone who bought tickets at the original price, which is the same business plan that StubHub uses. If someone reposts a ticket on TM+ for above face value, it is your choice to buy the tickets at a higher value, and not at a cheaper price on another marketplace. The difference with TM+ is that the money is first paid to the reseller and then the remainder (the reselling fee) is reinvested in artists, venues, and technological advancements within the company. The reason an original ticket is set at a certain price is to cover the costs and desired profit by involved parties and is set a reasonable market price, so the “average” attendee can afford the tickets in the first place.

Muse seems to make a real effort here. When I bought a ticket for their show, it was ridiculously cheap and easy.

Congratulations to everyone who got tickets to see Q+AL. This will be epic and I wish I could go, but it’s not going to happen for me. My husband has been out of work 4 years now, and we’re just one income. His health is deteriorating-was supposed to have a CT scan to rule out Pancreatic Cancer this weekend, but it didn’t go as planned. We have to reschedule tomorrow.

Anyway, without a venue in Florida, I just don’t have the money to travel for a concert and hate to leave, just in case.

I’m hoping for a lot of great videos and much critical acclaim for our guy. This should build up a lot of anticipation for album #3. Hope it ROCKS!

You know, Brian and Roger don’t need the money or recognition. I truly believe that part of this is their desire to help Adam get a better start to his career, and for them, this could be their last hurrah. It takes a lot of energy to play the drums and guitar the way they do and to keep it up for a whole tour will be taxing.

In the meantime, I’ll have to make do with Glee. I did post on that thread that I’d like Adam to sing a power ballad before he leaves the show. Something like Who Wants To Live Forever would show off his voice and tie into the Queen tour. But I’d settle for Stay (Rhianna) or anything Adam has written.

BUT there is so often no choice but to “go there”, when the legitimate sales and presales drop blocks of tickets at random times – often better tickets after worse tickets – and the level of frustration spirals. At those low points, I just want a decent ticket, and by then I don’t care where it comes from, and I assume that many feel the same way.
My one ethics rule is that I never by from a seller who has blocks of 8 for sale. I assume that they were bought expressly for resale, and I won’t play his game.
There is at least a decent chance that someone selling two tickets is either not able to attend after all, or bought better seats for him/herself and is selling the first-purchased. Many of us have been there ourselves.

But overall, it is just wretched.

Hmmm…Longineu. Fwachdr and I were at RayGay in Atlanta that was his final concert, and after the concert he and Adam and the others were clearly sad to part from each other. Remember that Adam wore the dreads wig (and so did TJ and Monte) in hommage to Longineu that night for the encore.

He was born in Paris! and lived for several years in Guadeloupe, which I also love, and speaks Créole.
I’d love to see him perform again with Adam.

I remember that item, HKFan. I thought at the time that he was more messing around – younguns are always videoing and pixting, I don’t think it meant anything or that there was anything underhanded or negative, but it was a long time ago and my memory is dim.

Hmmm...Longineu. Fwachdr and I were at RayGay in Atlanta that was his final concert, and after the concert he and Adam and the others were clearly sad to part from each other. Remember that Adam wore the dreads wig (and so did TJ and Monte) in hommage to Longineu that night for the encore. :-D Here is an interesting bio: https://adamquotedaily.wordpress.com/who-is-longineu-parsons/ He was born in Paris! and lived for several years in Guadeloupe, which I also love, and speaks Créole. I'd love to see him perform again with Adam. I remember that item, HKFan. I thought at the time that he was more messing around - younguns are always videoing and pixting, I don't think it meant anything or that there was anything underhanded or negative, but it was a long time ago and my memory is dim.

HK fan, I think Adam really liked Longinue and like Krad I felt they were said to see him go. I met him one night after a concert and he was very sweet and approachable in a low key way. Isaac is my favorite drummer so far but Longinue comes in a close second.

OMG asif, I had a dream that Queen +Adam came on the American Idol Finale, as an example of how far you could go. American Idol would be smart to do this, because of AFL.
They could first show Adam’s audition tape, and then Season 8’s Queen Finale, and then NOW.
Sounds like great TV!

They need the ratings big time, and I think they just lost one of their sponsor’s in the UK for next season.

I bet Avicii wants to capitalize on the Queen buzz. I also read on Twitter that Lay Me Down would be the next single from True, but WTF with that stupid 1:33 minute Vevo thing? Who does a 1:33 minute single????? It’s only half the song, and no Nile guitar.

The tickets for every concert are controlled by TM and the concert promoters so the promoters (and unfortunately sometimes the artists) are also involved. (nb Iheart- the worst case I’ve ever seen of total promoter control) Stubhub, the largest reseller site, is owned by EBay which also owns Paypal. This is all big business, big money which pays big time lobbyists with connections to lawmakers. We the ticketbuyers will get no help anytime soon. There was even a CBS documentary about ticket scalping. When you see big blocks of tickets available on these scalper sites, those were never offered to the public. There are always ticket limits when you try to buy. The best seats and other blocks of seats are always kept back for their “platinum” and reseller sites. I buy tickets all the time. The prime seats are literally never available. There’s a lot more I could tell you from personal experience, but there isn’t time and I get so angry about it.
The scalper sites are in cahoots. You see the same blocks of tickets for sale on several different sites all the time at different prices. Didn’t you see me post a few days ago about trying to buy Bruno Mars tickets on a Tixbastard owned scalper site ( most people don’t even know this) and when I pressed the button to Buy tickets, it asked me to log in with my site id and password or use my ticketmaster log in? Gaaaahhhh!! Still ticked off at the blatant corruption. Did you see at MSG that the regular side center sections were being sold as Platinum seats? Down here and in most other arenas, those are regular arena seats if you can get them! Double Gaaahh!! Rant over. Sleep needed!
