Re radio stations…we have several “hits” stations, but not sure they are specifically “top 40”, perhaps they are. I can’t listen to “classic rock”, been there done that over it and I was never crazy about rock anyway. Always listened more to the indie stuff, even in college.
My choices here are mostly: urban/hiphop/rap; christian; country; classic rock; “hot hits” that are mostly hiphop/rap with some Katy/Britney/Rihanna/whatever. Gaga seems to have gone away, I still hear Adele sometimes.
Result? I almost never listen to the radio in the car. Too tiresome, and I gave up on the iPod, it was too much of a nuisance to put music on it. So pretty much, I have given up on music altogether in the car. I listen to NPR talk (we have two stations here, one for classical music and the other for talk and in the evenings some fairly bizarre current indie things. Sometimes it is interesting. Oh, and there is some jazz on the weekends.
At home, I listen to streaming French stations, sometimes French public radio, sometimes music. It isn’t much better, to be honest, but at least I get the pleasure of the language.
It’s all pretty discouraging. When I am travelling, I always turn on the radio on the rental car, but rarely keep it on for more than a few minutes after I cycle through the local stations and shrug.
There is very little music in my life, which is a shame.
But every time a radio station goes out on a limb and tries to be creative, or tries a new format, it fails.
To be honest, I can’t picture Adam’s music on any station in my market, but I hope that they fit it in somewhere.
I very rarely listen to the radio in the car. My DH listens to country, I listen to audiobooks in the car.
nkd, thanks for the download of OOL from Kid Kraddick. A particularly beautiful and poignant one. I noticed that BTIKM on that show was also very beautiful and heartfelt, like he made them especially perfect and emotional just to flaunt his talent in their faces.
His facial expressions in the video of OOL seemed more affected than usual. I just wonder if he felt a little beat up after the way the interview went. Stupid gay questions again, and mocking Finland and the Finnish language. Really, of all the radio promo so far, they were the only retrogrades.
Krad – I hope you’ll try again with your iPod – I have the Apple Classic (160GB) which is basically just for music (rumor is that Apple will cease offering it soon). Today coming home I put it on songs only (have about 5,000 right now) playing alphabetically – put it on the letter “G” – and here is some of music I pulled up (Daft Punk, Owl City, Santana, Alan Parsons Project, Jonsi, Trent Reznor, Toto, Oleta Adams, Seal, Bob Seger, Rob Thomas, Rick James, Broken Bells, Nils Lofgren, Florence and the Machine, Madonna, Tracy Chapman, Dave Clark Five, Pink, Darren Hayes, Sigur Ros, Moby, Black Keys, Green Day, Harry Nilsson, and dozens more – just a few of the performers singing songs under “G.”)
Yes, you have to download the stuff, but it’s really worth it to have the thousands of songs that you really like playing on the car radio. I’d be lost without it.
Agree with you, riskylady – that was a straight-to-the-heart performance. Hope KK realized what low-class morons most of them acted like. Adam is just so far above that stupidity.
Damn, darlin’, 5000 songs??? I can’t imagine 5000 songs! But I doubtless have that many here in various forms. Last year I bought a turntable that converts old vinyl to mp3s, but I have never used it. Maybe this summer will be the time.
Y’know, if I had that many songs on imy iPod, it might be a good thing because always surprising, I should think it would be years before you heard a repeat! Have the ipod in my hand now. Hmmm…

OHHH MY I was laughing so hard reading your posts. I too got an Ipod so I could play my music. I haven’t had time to clean up my Itunes library. From the FYE album to now when ever anyone made an mp3 I just copied it. Always figuring I would go back and pick out the best ones. Toss the others.
Well I get the Ipod and plug into my computer and all of sudden all my music was downloaded before I knew what was happening. Mind you I have other music on there but now that much.
So we were cleaning one of our units. I had a small speaker attached to the Ipod so the man that works for me and I could listen. I told him I had it on shuffle. He walked into the room and wanted to know that if it was on shuffle how come Adam came on every two to three songs. Ya I have more of him on my unit than anyone else. Some day I will get around to cleaning it up. Til now I guess I sort like having 10 versions of BTIKM. (I did stop down loading WWFM.. I have far to many of them!!!
Watching Adam’s own “Marc Martel” reminds me of the last Idol program where the designer (oh, lord, give me my mind back – can’t remember his name) spoke about style icons on Idol. Of course, Adam is a style icon (even Colton had his vest on the other night) – Adam’s look is utterly distinguishable.
But almost laughed when he mentioned Carrie (guess they needed a gal and she’s a big country success from Idol) – but the idea that she’s a style icon is ludicrous. She wasn’t on her Idol run and since then she’s been dressed in lovely gowns – but her “look” – such as it is – is something any pretty, blond young woman could wear. What distinguishes her in any way from this particular class? Nothing that I can see. If anything, she’s rather bland – certainly not “cutting edge.”
Be fun to watch Idol to see if the designer’s advice makes any difference. Many of the outfits the gals have worn lately are pretty bad.

Lol, rainbow gal and krad – about two days out of the two weeks would be Adam music. Too many duplicates – have to start removal – besides think I’m way beyond WWFM which is a Pink song – think I’m beyond GNT, too – looking forward to this new, realer Adam – one who is not “hiding” anymore – a guy who’s bringing HIS music to us – and who doesn’t shy from his hard-core fans because he knows we love him and have his best interests at heart – and want him to be the global star we know he should be.

And rainbow, that is exactly what is holding me back…since I don’t have a lot of other music on my itunes, it would be all Adam, all the time. (Mind you, not necessarily a bad thing in most circumstances!) So until I clean up my itunes – planning to shift most Adam music bits and pieces to a portable hard drive – I don’t think I want to just shuffle.

Yeah, I’m with you, rainbow – have hundreds of CDs and have delayed uploading them – I’m confused enough now with what music is on my iPod. And, actually, the CD’s, being less compressed digitally, do sound better, I believe – especially in the car. The CD I bought overseas has CLYG on it and I play that on my Bose and in the car. Have a question – when the less compressed version is uploaded to iTunes, is the sound degraded in some way? Have to check that out.
Have dozens of operas plus LP’s and CD’s of all kinds of classical music – but would never upload them to iTunes. Just not the same on an iPod.
So much music – so little time.

I do have upload more before this weekend. My partner and I are Adam fans so wouldn’t mind back to back BTIKM but the other person we are traveling with might not. So tomorrow I will through my “old” cds and get picky on which ones I want.

Did anyone listen to the intern’s night out with Kevin that rainbowgal posted at 11:40? She said something to the effect that Adam went to bed because he did something to his vocal cords and couldn’t even talk! I don’t like the sound of that. Move up to about 5:55 although the whole interview is cute.
Also, I watched the Oprah/Gaga interview last night. She’s 180 degrees opposite of Adam. She’s not going to talk to ANYONE except Oprah & this one interview. Well, after winning nothing at the Grammy’s she’s probably just wants to stay out of sight. I don’t know…it seemed so ridiculous…the whole interview. Was not impressed.
I think it hurt her feelings not winning anything and pretty much being ignored after being heralded as the “greatest thing since sliced bread”, in the previous two Grammy shows. Her ego took a big knock because this last album didn’t sell as much as her previous one. I guess I am one of the few who haven’t bought any of her music, but I hear it all over the radio every second of the day, why would I want to buy any. She’s so over saturated and I’m becoming bored with her. She’s already working on a new album, you would think the woman would take a break and let people actually miss her for a day or two.
Repeating what I have read elsewhere. The band had a one night gig (Atlanta)
while Adam is on a heavy duty repeat schedule and the “voice” excuse is a
good “good night” exit line. Plus he was fine at the radio promos following
Atlanta. Adam knows how to take care of his voice (his money earner) and
won’t do anything to harm it.
There’s one song of Gaga’s that I really like – “Eh, Eh, Nothing Else I Can Say.” Very different from her other stuff – really charming. And, yes, bridgette – giving her fans/us a short breathing space would be nice. But think being in the limelight is her life’s blood. And she’s been really good at it up till now.
Re Adam’s vocal cords – maybe just an excuse to go to bed – who knows. He’s sung a lot since then and sounds great so not too worried. But, yes – that thought is always in the back of my mind. He sings difficult material – but he does seem protective of those beauties.

luval I just heard the intern’s night out with Kevin and I also heard her day that Adam “shot his vocal chords” or something to that effect and couldn’t talk after the Jezebel concert. It worried me, too, but since then he has done numerous radio gigs, up to three in one day day, singing 2 or 3 songs at each one, and his voice has sounded great. True they have been acoustic performances so he wasn’t straining too much. We know that he is an expert at taking care of his voice, so hopefully,
if he felt that his voice was strained he stopped talking and went to bed, knowing that he had more singing in store over the next few days.
And it was cute hearing her description of hanging out with the band.
Just downloaded a great new track – Keane’s “Silenced by the Night.” Recommend. (Pulling an “Adam” – lol.)
