After a very busy and promo-filled month of February (during which Adam also took time out to attend the Elton John pre-Oscar party pictured above), March figures to be busy as well for Adam and his fans, as he should continue promo efforts for the lead single “Better Than I know Myself” and his upcoming album “Trespassing”. Adam may take some time to put last minute touches on some of the late addition album tracks as well. The album release date, which was previously set for March 20th, has been pushed back to ~~an undetermined time~~ later this spring. ~~I’m guessing sometime in April or early May, but we will see.~~

Update – on March 23rd, Adam confirmed that the release date for Trespassing will be May 15th!

Here’s how many days to go Kradamour until you see Adam and also that you’re with adamized, dcglam and ulti: ONE.

You know I keep tabs on these kinds of things for you just in case you weren’t keeping track.

dcglam, when I was waiting to go to Ste. Agathe last July, for several weeks, the concert took a back seat knowing that I was going to meet the people here that I’d come to know, like and respect. For a while, meeting the people here that I’d posted with and joked with was my number one priority. Then, as the concert date approached I “kinda” got excited about seeing Adam, too.

I’ve met Adamized and Kradamour. In fact, I spent time on a blanket with Adamized … I won’t go into further detail. I also spent some time on Kradamour’s bed … which I really won’t go into detail about.

You’re going to be in wonderful company tomorrow, dcglam and ulti! Then there’s the added bonus of seeing this new singer Adam Lambert.

I wish all four of you the best time!! It’s going to be a great day! If only Poutine was on the menu, then everything would be complete.

Ever since Adam told us that this era would feature less glitter and less glam, fans of glitter and glam have mourned. Some worry that the Trespassing era will require Adam to dial back his crazy and tone down his OTT against his real wishes. And despite Adam’s assurances that this is about #Realness, some fans have expressed concern that an Adam who doesn’t sparkle like a firecracker isn’t being true to himself.

To me, these ideas imply that Adam is at best being manipulated against his will into an unwanted box, and at worst lying to all of us. I don’t believe either is the case. I think Adam is playing a strategic game; a game which should be familiar by now to those who have known him since Idol. He’s choosing to put forward a version of himself that he believes will help him achieve his goal, and right now his goal is to position himself as a major pop singer. To achieve this he needs is radio play, which helps drive song/album sales. So he’s playing the game—radio gigs, dozens of interviews, silly banter with silly DJs. Pretty much wherever he goes he’s left people berting in his wake, and he’s done most of it wearing jeans and t-shirts. He’s marketing himself as a regular guy—relatable, approachable, normal. And with some exceptions, he’s getting fewer “guyliner and glitter” remarks this time around. He talks about his music in a way that makes it clear that the songs and emotions apply to everyone. He talks about his boyfriend in a way that makes people see that they’re just a couple doing their couple-y things (albeit with a little more juicing ).

Don’t get me wrong, I love OTT Adam myself, and one of my favorite looks was the final night of GNT when Adam’s face was coated with glitter and his hair sparkled like a fairy’s feather duster. I love when he pushes the envelope and pushes boundaries and makes pearls explode under pressure. And I know that while the glitter may be only a memory, this boundary-pushing Adam isn’t gone but is simply biding his time.

There are two ways to trespass. The more obvious tactic is to break the rules—bust a window, climb over a fence, sneak in through a back entrance. There is also a less obvious way—you knock on the front door, smile your sweetest smile, and charm your way inside. You convince people that you aren’t a threat to them, and before long they’re handing you the keys to their house. With the FYE era Adam tried the first way. By his own admission he didn’t quite realize what life was like outside his WeHo bubble, and had a lot to learn about the inside workings of the music business. He was simply out to entertain and didn’t realize how quickly some people would ring the alarm. As a result, he spent a portion of the FYE era doing damage-control . Nearly three years later, he’s a bit older and a lot wiser.

History is filled with people who walked politely into hallowed institutions and then changed things radically from the inside. In terms of the music business, there is power and autonomy that comes from mainstream success, and the artist who reaches the top has more freedom. If Adam wanted to be an indie artist with a cult following, he could easily go down that path. But Adam craves a larger platform and a wider audience and he’s willing to position himself in a way that maximizes that possibility. You can call him a sell-out. Or you can see him as a strategist. You could mourn the fact that the U.S. can’t fully embrace his brand of crazy. Or you can admire that he is clever and long-sighted enough to look for other ways into the inner sanctum.

Adam may wear the occasional sweater-vest or cardigan nowadays, but don’t be fooled. He’s got the chess board out, he’s studied the game, and he’s out to win.

Morning Peeps!!!! Adam will either be totally slap happy by the time we see him tomorrow evening or ready for bed (and I don’t mean the “juicy” kind). It would be fantastic if Sauli was with us in the audience watching his BB??? Too good too be true I’m sure but you never know.

Sparkles, did you try just calling into 94.7 to see if they had any extra tickets to give away? We probably won’t be in DC until late afternoon.

Good Morning All – I tried to stay awake for all the fun last night and as you can see I couldn’t even keep all the posts straight and ended up posting doubles!! So my caution is don’t try to post when you see yourself going from Cinderella to that god awful orange pumpkin color!!!

Honestly, though, no matter how many concerts I have gone to and will go to in the future, Ste Agathe will be a forever memory of some of the best that life has to offer.

OMG it is so fun to say “tomorrow”! and knowing that Sauli is there makes me happy for Adam – and for us, if we get the chance to see him, too. Yes, just about a foot away from us in Ste Agathe and such a powerful positive aura!

Lots to do today to be able to go to DC tomorrow – it is a long day on the road for me round trip, but totally worth it! BBL!

Weekend numbers update:
VH1: As we know (luval called it), BTIKM moved up only two spots from #17 to #15. This does not compare well to the ten spot jumps that WWFM (11-1) and IIHY (20-10) made in their second weeks on the countdown.

Billboard Hot 200: BTIKM debuted at #76 in the chart of January 7th, and as far as I know has not appeared there since.

Airplay:
Top 40/CHR/Pop: the song moved from #62 last Saturday to #55 yesterday, and is slowly gaining spins again. Still a long ways to go to reach the actual Top 40 though.

AC: no real movement here, remains at #36 with 30 spins during the past week.

Hot AC: remains at #25 but continues to slowly gain spins. Eventual Top 20 seems possible, but hard to see this song making the Top 10 unless something changes.

Sales:
Itunes: #387 overall, #113 pop

Downloads: still no hard numbers from Brian Mansfield since late January, so new new info there. Judging by its position on Itunes, it might be selling 5-6K a week and be near 100K total by now. For comparison, WWFM has sold about 1.8 million and IIHY about 850K.

We will get another weekly cycle of radio adds the next couple of days, with Hot AC reporting on Monday and Top 40 on Tuesday.

Haha, dc! When I read this, I realized that I forgot to give my sniff results in my recap. I actually was of sound enough mind to go in for the sniff, and … Adam smells like a man!!! And in my opinion, that always smells much better than a blueberry!

Well, I missed the sniff test and I’ve met him twice!! You get so lost in the moment! I have had my arm around his very slim waist twice, but I never even thought of a pinch! Got a great bear hug in Hawaii though! Oh, and I had my hands all over his tats in Hawaii too!!! Looked in the eyes in Hawaii!
