Good morning! LOVE that article and pictures from the children’s hospital. Adam should do this more often in the larger cities he visits. I’ll bet there is more press about it in other publications in Atlanta too.

Btw wanted to give my opinion on one interview. I thought the “intern Adam” interview in Nashville was the most awkward interview on this promo tour. The moments of silence by this guy were excruciating…our Adam filling in as best he could. On and on about the Ryman floor!

These are my thoughts on VH1 countdown. I am sure that they received complaints from different fan groups that said that the voting wasn’t fair because they could never out vote the big hitters. So then they tried to add in other factors to try to even things out. Just guessing that they threw in chart position on Billboard, maybe Itunes,push from the label. In my opinion, they lost sight of what this countdown was supposed to be about, the music video. There is no way that a performance video with the singer just singing the song in different places should rank higher than something that has artistic vision,a story to tell. I vote for Adams’ videos because they’re like little movies and are shot with an eye for story. This is what this countdown should be about.IMO

Gloria from AQD is going to one of the radio promos this week and is putting together a “book” of letters to Adam from fans. Today she put out a request for letters from husbands, significant others, boyfriends, girlfriends, etc of Adam’s fans to write a letter telling Adam how the “fan-ship” has affected their relationship. Interesting idea, I think.

And concerning Domino, I think parts of it sound almost country or like a country artist is singing it. But I really liked her other song just before Domino. I thought Katy Perry was singing Domino for a while and I really was surprised that Katy sounded kinda country. Then I heard it was Jesse J.

Um…(stubs toe in dirt)…well, I…hmmm…I don’t love Trespassing either. Maybe the studio version will sound more radio-friendly to me. I think it might be more popular in some parts of the country than others. But here, everything on the radio is either classic rock or very “urban”-inspired pop (lots of hip hop, rap) – or country or Christian, of course. I think Cuckoo would have a problem in my market, too, it is a little too arch and sophisticated to be a good fit with what is out there. All these references peeps are making: Prince, Depeche Mode…my students have never heard of them.
I think the CD will be successful – heck, even if only the fans in the bubble buy it, it will be successful.
But Adam is a musician’s musician. Collaborators love him. We love him because of who he is as much as because of the music. It is going to take something very powerful – and powerfully mainstream, which Adam doesn’t trend to – to get the attention of potential new fans and make this the massive hit that his present fanbase is predicting.
Okay, that’s my two cents. Gonna duck and keep my head down for a little while.
I have a confession to make that sometimes makes me feel like a very horrible person. I really dislike Kris Allen the musician. I don’t like his musical style or his I’m so cute with my puppy pictures. I try to see what others see in him but I just can’t. I have tried to analyze myself and see if it’s just sour grapes or something else. I came to the conclusion that I like the singers with some flaws. Just an example: I don’t like Carrie Underwood, David Archie, Scotty. I guess I like that bad boy/girl image. So shoot me!

Kradamour…I never heard a Depeche Mode song. I mean I’ve been watching MTV since day 1 and know they had videos on, but never watched because I didn’t like their band name! shallow of me. And I’m sure young people that I come in contact with would not have heard of them. Prince, maybe.
Pop & music culture freaks (me) are few and far between. You know the song out now by Flo Rida..I’ve Got A Good feeling”? The part where the singer says “Good Feeling”, the whole song is a mashup of several artists. Those two words are by Etta James. The only reason I know this is when I heard Adam DJ and he mentioned it! This song came up at work and one woman told me I’d get along fine with her 16yr old son, since he knows this too.

I never liked Kris Allen during the whole run of season 8 so I know it is not sour grapes with me. I could not figure out what people saw in him, just too boring for me. Never liked Gokey either, I am not a “sob story” person. So as soon as Idol starts on that it totally turns me off the singer. I know it is the producers that do it but my feeling is the contestants do not have to participate in telling them. Just get on there and sing, we will get to know you later if you last that long.
I really liked Alison though, I just think she really needs to work on enunciation.
I really loved a post yesterday at mj’s where someone was complaining about not liking Adam’s new songs at all and they posted a couple of times about it. They were supposedly “trying” to like them but just could not. Someone else answered that it was ok, don’t try so hard because they had tried to listen to Kris Allens new single and could not even get through one listen. LOL Of course that post disappeared.
ETA I do like Carrie’s voice, I own a couple of her tracks. I like Crystal’s voice too. I like the bad boy image too but for me it really comes down to the voice and being able to stay on key AND NOT BE PITCHY DOG.
That is the main reason I can’t figure out how Durbin made it so far, he couldn’t carry a tune in a paper bag. I don’t want a record by someone that has to be so totally altered in the studio.

Kradamour…which Quebec festival were you visualizing? The one between July 5th and 9th or something like that? I think we should change our thinking. Adam said he’d be rehearsing one week before Sonisphere with Queen so it looks like that’s out.
