After a very busy and promo-filled month of February (during which Adam also took time out to attend the Elton John pre-Oscar party pictured above), March figures to be busy as well for Adam and his fans, as he should continue promo efforts for the lead single “Better Than I know Myself” and his upcoming album “Trespassing”. Adam may take some time to put last minute touches on some of the late addition album tracks as well. The album release date, which was previously set for March 20th, has been pushed back to ~~an undetermined time~~ later this spring. ~~I’m guessing sometime in April or early May, but we will see.~~

Update – on March 23rd, Adam confirmed that the release date for Trespassing will be May 15th!

luval, I’m not goatie!! Hope you’re not disappointed with my recap – as I expected, I was totally hypnotized by his “presence” – as hard as I tried to be in the moment and enjoy each and every little detail, too much of it is a blur now. I’ll share some of the things that really stood out for me:

As I mentioned Monday, nkd and I took a trial run to the station the night before his appearance. So glad we did – it was rather difficult to find! At one point, we had to stop and use nkd’s iphone app to help us. As we coasted to our destination yesterday morning, we realized that we had stopped the night before right around the corner from the station – we could’ve walked there! Anyway, the radio station was on the 19th floor of an office building – not what we expected! There was a long corridor lined with cushioned bench seating, leading to a closed door; there were already probaby 15 fans waiting by the time we arrived, which was 45 minutes early. Most of those 15 ladies (and 1 gentleman) seemed to already know each other – one of them made it a point to visit with each guest and exchange emails/twitter information, which was very nice! Just before we went in, we were given the rules: No memorabilia would be signed, photos with our cameras during the performance were allowed but absolutely no videotaping (I think some did anyway), and we would be photographed with Adam in groups of two at the end of the show by the station. Then ID’s were checked and lanyards with Adam’s BTIKM cover art and the radio station info were handed out – so cute (and I accidentally took nkd’s when I left – must return it today!).

Time to go in! The room on the other side of the door had a large table covered with bright blue “muve music” coozies and on top of each coozie was a cute, metallic blue guitar key chain. We all helped ourselves to one and were then offered our choice of beverage – this was fun!!

Then we were led into the “lounge”. The room was small and decorated with beautiful golden swag drapes, sofas and large, over-stuffed chairs. Adam himself complimented the decor several times – nkd and I didn’t score sofa or stuffed chair seating, but we were on the front row of fold-out chairs behind the sofa – great spot!

So while Adam was backstage signing posters for us (beautiful large shot of BTIKM cover art with the station name and date – yay!), the DJ invited several guests to come onstage for a sing-off; the winner would receive a nice set of headphones. Four ladies competed – one sang WWFM, another tried Broken Open, one sang a little bit of OOL, and I can’t remember what the fourth sang. Anyway, hurry up and choose the winner so we can see Adam! The winner was WWFM – she did pretty well, actually. Can you imagine trying to sing one of Adam’s songs with him backstage listening? No way in hell!

And here’s where it starts becoming a bit hazy – our beautiful, radiant boy enters the room from a door just to the right of the front of the room. First impressions: Radiant, natural, organic, dressed-down, beautiful smile, thin, in control. We really didn’t get a chance to ask questions – instead, the DJ had a list of things to discuss, and it was nice. So much better than the Kidd Kraddick interview. (Sidenote: Kidd Kraddick broadcasts from Las Colinas – a local station for me. I’ve been listening to him since the mid-80’s when he was a night-time dj. I’ve always loved him – he seemed to be a very devoted husband and father, and I was a big fan. But he got a divorce several years ago, and since then his on-air behavior has really changed. His sense of humor has changed and he even looks different – I agree with the earlier poster (hk fan?) who said he looked wasted – he always looks like that now. I’m hoping to find a way of communicating my disappointment with the way he handled Adam’s interview – it infuriated me and I want Kidd to know it )

Okay, back to Adam and the very respectful, polite DJ in Houston: The DJ was really cute and shared that he had never voted for any other AI contestant besides Adam, and said the usual “You should’ve won” comment, to which Adam gave the usual reply “But essentially I did…” A really fun moment came when the DJ asked Adam how old he was when he appeared in Charlie Brown; Adam kind of guessed his age and one of the ladies sitting on the floor in front yelled “Ask a fan!”, lol. The fans/guests were great, btw. There’s no way Adam could leave these events without feeling much love and admiration from his guests.

Somehow the topic of juicing came up, and Adam mentioned how much he missed his juicer! One of the fans said that the sales of juicers must’ve gone up considerably after he shared that he was juicing! Adam said he likes kale, beets, ginger, apples, and lemon in his juice. nkd really wanted to tell him that there was a Whole Foods just around the corner! The DJ embarrassed himself by saying something like he wanted to put his beet in Adam’s juicer!!! It was so funny – DJ turned the color of a beet!

Adam performed BTIKM, WWFM, and Fever! I was so hoping that the third song, if we were fortunate enough to get a third song, would be OOL for nkd. As you all know, she was in St. Agathe when he premiered the song and it’s incredibly special to her. But we all know Adam well enough to know that he likes to change things up, so there ya go. Anyway, each performance was spot on – absolutely stunning and mind-blowing to be enjoying such a beautiful performance in that intimate setting.

Another cute moment came when Adam mentioned working with Nile Rodgers. When he described his reaction to the first sounds of Nile’s guitar-playing, he made the most adorable stanky-party-get-down face you’ve ever seen!!! Probably my favorite memory of the day – he’s just so adorable and in the moment. nkd and I both feel that he’s so happy, centered and secure right now. He really listens to what’s being said to him, he forms his answers with so much thought. And I’ve always been amazed at how well he rolls with whatever the situation throws his way – he always seems to know just what to say and he’s so cute and clever at the same time! When the session was over, Adam made his way to the little side door with the cutest little vaudeville dance move – nkd was able to get a picture of it!

At this point, we were reminded that we would be photographed with Adam in groups of two, no memorabilia, yadda yadda yadda So the ladies in the front of the room are being taken into the side room in groups of 6 or 8 – I really wasn’t paying attention because the dj was still visiting with us and I was TOTALLY caught off guard when the guy gestured for me and nkd to follow him! I hadn’t even freshened up my lip gloss!!! However, I’m still feeling a false sense of security as I walk to the door – surely there are several fans ahead of me so I can collect myself, formulate a few intelligent words in my brain to share with Mr. Wonderful, and possibly apply that extra coat of gloss! But NO!!!!!! I walk through the door and Adam is looking expectantly my way!!!!! OMG… I felt like Ralphie in the “Christmas Story” when he finally gets his chance to ask Santa Claus for the bb gun! At this point, I kind of wish my memory would fail me, haha! As best I can remember, I said something like “Oh my God! I can’t believe I’m getting to meet you, Adam!” nkd was leaving her purse with one of the station staff, and Adam has his long, lean arm extended, waiting to envelop her in a major hug (he didn’t have to wait for me, haha!) We looked to the camera, gave our best smiles, and then told him how happy we were for him, that we thought 2012 would be a fantastic year for him and his fans and to enjoy himself! Then nkd implored him to bring Queen to the States. He politely told us that those decisions weren’t up to him, and nkd said “Suggest, suggest, suggest!” Then we told him that we had loved and supported him since Idol, and that we would be there supporting him for always. Then we floated to the door and we were each handed a lovely signed BTIKM poster. By the time we reached the other side of the door, we were barely able to stand, we were shaking so!

I’m still pinching myself – what a dear, sweet friend nkd is to have included me on this adventure that I’ll never, ever forget. He is so precious – now I have to come back to earth and resume my station requests, vh1 voting (and tell off Kidd Kraddick!) Best of luck to everyone who is still trying to get their chance – it is soooo worth whatever effort it takes!

Whew!! Got caught up and read your recap. Oh what a great memory you and nkd will have forever. Welcome to the club of those who got to spend some time with him right next to you. I have never met a famous person who is so down to earth, loving and happy. Even in Des Moines I felt his happiness – can’t imagine what that is like now with the second album and Sauli. I’m so happy for the both of you. Thank you for sharing.

I’m not really sure how much more I can add to what she covered so beautifully!
I have to say that I thought the interview portion was great. Yes, Idol was brought up but it was ok because as Adam said we wouldn’t all be here without it. There was no Finngate, AMAgate, or any other embarrassing incidents mentioned. Adam was relaxed, funny and just so charming!
I didn’t hear what Texas said to Adam as we walked into the room for our pictures and like her I was expecting a line or buffer room, but no, there he was! I had been looking over some pictures I had taken and was trying to tweet when they came to get us. So as I walked into the room behind Texas I was fumbling putting my phone and glasses away when I hear him talking. Then he’s looking at me waiting with his arm out, what an arm! He is the definition of adorable.
I’m not sure what I said either except for darlin’!
I do hope that my suggestion about a Queen performance in the US was polite and not pushy. I certainly didn’t mean it to be, but now I worry how he may have perceived it.
Thank you Texas for coming with me and making this such a memorable couple of days! You have become such a wonderful dear friend, for which we have Adam to thank!

The lady that made the pendant for him was wearing one that was the phrase from Starlight, “you electrify my life”, because that’s what he does. Isn’t that an absolutely perfect explanation of what he does to each of us?!!

ETA Re the preshow competition, the lady, Dinah, that first sang WWFM, lives in Houston but I first met her in line in Ste Agathe. As we were gathered in the pin like livestock waiting to be let into the concert in Canada, I heard her mention Houston so I asked if they were from Houston and introduced myself. A few months later I attended a Texas Glamberts holiday party in Houston and met her again but not initially recognizing her until she spoke. I heard that Vermont accent, turned and asked if she had been in Canada, and then she recognized me also. Small world!

ETA ETA Oh, sorry guys that thought nkd Adam pictures were going to be of a raunchier nature, just pics taken by yours truly!

Thank you thank you nkd & Texas for those recaps! How wonderful it must have been in the peanut gallery! I really think this Houston interview was the best we have seen so far on his promo tour. I loved that the audience was so involved in everything. Seemed so down to earth and real. And the poster is gorgeous. His signature actually looks like his name…not the scribble he’s been doing lately.

Now I will shout. WHY ARE NOT MORE STATIONS PLAYING BTIKM???? I don’t get it. How can they know a song will be liked by listeners if they never even try playing it?

We know how much everyone is voting on VH1. The whole Glambert world. I wonder if they are trying to hold up as long as possible the upward movement of the song and wait to have Adam as a guest? They are manipulators. I know they use airplay, etc. as well as votes but still…to have these relatively unknown artists on the countdown is just not right.

I agree with luval that this had to be one of the best interviews, if not the best, he has done in this round of promos for BTIKM. I totally agree that Adam seemed to really love his visit with our girls in Houston. He seems so happy, natural, funny, and so damn good looking. It was like he was with a bunch of close friends. The DJ was absolutely adorable and seemed very smitten.

We DC contingents are working hard on having some in person stories to share soon. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

So happy for Nkd and Texas and that was such a great interview and day. Hope you weren’t too nervous. I was excited when I met Adam but not nervous. I just walked up to him introduced myself in a humorous manor and had a nice conversation with him and Neil. He looked much younger and thinner in person IMO. One of my favorites over on Twitter just won tickets for DC. HannaBec is her name and I’ll try to report what she has to say or you can follow her. She’s very nice and does interesting tweets and is a real Adam fan.
