Texas…I think you know how to get to the corner.
I heard about the San Antonio Six Flags a couple of weeks ago.
This is the tweet from the radio station:
https://twitter.com/mix961sa/status/220155437926981632
This is probably the best – complete – AND not on youtube so will not
be taken down. Also can bookmark/favorite and just watch.
From Atop:
Here’s the best Kiev video to download!
It was made from the 6.6 GB video and converted to a 1 GB mp4 video that has chapter selection when played in iTunes or on an iPhone or iPad! And the 150 ms out-of-sync between audio and video were corrected. And there is no watermark on this video. A very big thanks to mmyy9 for doing this and to Terra for her help with the sync!!
mmyy9@mmyy9
(Kiev) I converted the 6GB MPEG from QueenZone http://bit.ly/N5qpX4 to an iTunes-compatible mp4 w chapters for DL (1GB) http://bit.ly/LvQRa2
If the above link doesn’t work try: http://minus.com/lvhKDgWkLuq6H
I had problems downloading this using IE – it kept pausing and then finally told me that it could not download it. But it downloaded perfectly the 1st time with FireFox.
Here are some instructions for displaying the chapters in iTunes taken for the Apple site (http://www.apple.com/itunes/features/):
“While a movie or video is playing, move the pointer to bring up onscreen controls. You can play, pause, scan backward or forward, and adjust volume. iTunes lets you navigate through chapters if this option is included in the video or movie.”
PS: I had no problems using internet explorer and moved it right into itunes – great quality, chapters and all!!!

Hi everyone and thanks for the welcome. I drop in every once in a while. Used to be vjb475
His voice on “Map” is just so beautiful.
I’ve been thinking about that Wroclaw video and what Adam said near the end about his own career. “I don’t know if it’s gonna work or not. This is a sure thing”. I felt a little sad when he said that. He must lay in bed at night with so many many questions & pressures running through his head.
On another note, I would love to be there when Adam introduces his dad to Brian & Roger assuming he will.
Wonder exactly what he meant, luval, by “work or not.” Just talking about sales? Or a third album?
I understood when he said “work or not” to be talking about his own songs, simply being unknown what is going to hit and connect with people. The Queen songs are already hits that people know and love. Nothing all that deep.
Thanks, nkd, that makes sense.
Anyone think “Map” might be a good song for U.S. radio?
Sounds like what he meant, nkd.
Looks like Adam’s getting a little love here in So Cal. My daughter just text me and said she heard an Adam Lambert commercial on 104.3 (one of our larger stations) and, I believe, part of the iheart radio family. Anyhoodle, it was a for his concerts. She said they played FYE, If I Had You, Trespassing, and she thinks another song. So…YAY!!
Wow, that’s great k_in_cal! I wonder if they played NCOE, and if not, why not.
They may have. I just gave my daughter his new album so she’s just getting familiar with the new stuff. I think they were just playing snippets but hey…that works for me.
I find it interesting (and hopefully telling) that they played Trespassing. I really like that song and think it would work for the next single. I know some people may not agree with that but getting feedback from my daughter (she’s 19), that’s one of her faves on the album. She loves the beat.
She made an interesting comment to me…she loves, loves, loves, the first half of the album. It makes her want to dance and party. When she gets to the second half, she gets through a few songs but goes back to Trespassing and starts it over again. I told her she has to listen to the entire album…she’ll feel the reason the album is the way it is. But, being 19 and of this “time”, they want the beat.
However, last night when she came home, she was singing one line over and over again and guess what song it was???? Broken English. That song stuck in her head (from the half of the album she had a hard time getting through) and she didn’t even realize it.
Sorry….I kinda rambled. Hope you understand what I’m trying to say.
For those who don’t go to AQD:
Beautiful huge stadium!

Wow, that stadium is amazing! Hopefully Adam isn’t losing too much sleep over his “other” career – I want him to be in the moment and enjoy every second of this experience (I’m sure he is, lol!).
I agree…in some ways, it would be hard to be Adam right now. He is all about modern and club and dance, making his own music, getting out his own message…but with one foot firmly in root rock music, and this amazing opportunity to make $$$ and a name for himself, albeit on someone else’s coattails, no matter how iconic those coattails are. If he goes too far down that road, it might be impossible to ever return to his own track. He is probably getting pressure from RCA, as well…he does have obligations there. (shakes head) I am glad that he has Brian and Roger to help him think this through, but of course they aren’t objective bystanders.
On another note – my brother was in a rock band years ago and blew out his hearing. Should we be concerned that Adam’s hearing (and sensitivity to nuances of sound) will be affected by working with amped-up Queen? I was thinking about this when I watched a vid. To hear Adam, I had to really crank up the volume, and it made me realize how loud it must be on stage.

That’s always a problem, Krad – I had my earphones ramped up for the Kiev concert and ears were ringing for quite a while afterwards. Guess that can’t be good.
And one son-in-law – drummer in a band – definitely has reduced hearing.
Oh my Kradamour, you have now given me one more thing to worry about: BBs hearing
Don’t those things in his ears block out some of the sound?
My thoughts on the pressures of being Adam … at least he has many, many options! How many artists do you know of who have the opportunities that Adam’s getting? Regardless of how things turn out, I now feel very sure that Adam will be a success.
jlurksacto Thank you I am downloading it now. I don’t have an itunes account so I hope I can still do everything through WMP.
Looks like Brian and Roger can hear just fine and thay have been doing this for many years. I don’t think the sound on stage is nearly as loud as in the first few rows.
Come on peeps- quit borrowing trouble.
File has nothing to do with itunes, but is itune
friendly in that it can be loaded into ipad, ipod, iphone, etc.
This is great! It was a comment on some blog, I assume talking about how Adam is not fit to fill in for Freddie. I hope everyone can see it to read it.

I love that paragraph, nekkid! It has an authentic feel to it.
And I have found a Queen song to love: The Show Must Go On. Love the lyrics, love Adam’s interpretation.

I suppose only someone who is not very nice would get a kick out of this and find it very funny.
I’m not very nice.

Saw this on twitter – for those in London for the shows next week.

Oooh, Ron, I must not be very nice either!!
Loved that, and thanks for posting.
I have a question about the file you posted jlurks. Is it only for Ipods and Ipads, because what I want to do is burn a DVD and play it on my DVR.
And, about hearing loss and performers. Being in my profession, I work with hearing loss, etc. One thing I can say for sure is that the hearing professionals have been working closely with entertainers on preventing hearing loss for a couple of decades now. One of the reasons that everyone wears “in the ears” now is to preserve hearing and prevent hearing loss. Another thing that is being done is working with amplification systems so that the sound is directed out to the audience and not back to the performers.
But, yes, over time, exposure to loud music will cause irreparable hearing loss. However, rest assured, just look at how well Brian and Roger could hear and interact with the interviewer in Poland. They can hear just fine.
The performers with the most hearing loss tend to be the ones who play smaller gigs and don’t wear hearing protection. Like bands playing clubs and bars, for example.
Not to make this post too long, but, of a huge concern to my profession is the use of earbuds, in Ipods, etc. Our ears simply were not designed to listen to loud music played literally in our ears for hours on end day in and day out. The frequency and incidence of hearing loss is showing up now in new research to be very high and rapidly rising in young adults as young as 25-30. The blame is completely on this. Newer devices have a decibel limit of 80-90 now. It is still loud enough to cause permanent damage.
So, to be honest, I would be more concerned with someone’s exposure to daily music listening with earbuds than from performing. Like Adam. Or most teens.
A good rule of thumb is that if another person can hear what you are listening to on your Ipod, then it is too loud and can damage your hearing forever. I taught this to my kids, and went so far as to not allow them to have a device such as an Ipod until they were 16 and could understand the effect on their hearing.
But despite all of the above, I listened to the new QueenBert CD in my car turned waaaay up today and loved it and bopped to it and sang to it all on my way today!!!
And had a ball!! Listening with no visual proves the vocal match made in heaven that is Adam and Queen. Somebody to Love, Break Free, Under Pressure. Rawking it the hell out!!
Thanks, mils – that was very interesting and informative.
I’m not jlurks, mils, but no, it’s not just for ipods and ipads but is compatible with them. The file that jlurks posted is the one I downloaded.
The picture is great and it has chapters marked at each song.
oops, sorry nkd. You’d have thunk that after all the time we spend together in the corner that I’d have recognized you!!!
My Bad!
BTW, love that blog excerpt you brought over here.
Soundcheck for tomorrow. Who Wants To Live Forever!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9WsB0MzXw8
luval, thanks . I cannot get over the majestic soaring of his voice. And that was a soundcheck. OUTSIDE the stadium. OUTSIDE.
Ron
I’m not very nice either.
I cannot stop listening to these concert vids! My ears are too old to worry about. Just for the heck of it I played Queen and Paul Rodgers “The Show Must Go On”…Adam hit it out of the ballpark compared to PR!! No wonder Roger said Adam had a voice of 1 in 100 million!!!
Count me in the not-nice group, too, Ron gonna send it to people who’ll appreciate it.
That soundcheck, luval – unearthly beautiful – coming from a distant planet – saved it – mesmerizing – haunting.
I love this comment from the rehearsal video:
I think Randy and Kara were right. Adam is a rawk god. I’m okay with Trespassing but the songs all feel somehow limited, particularly after hearing him sing “I want to Live Forever”…and most of the other Queen songs. Maybe Brian and Roger will help him get more into rock.
Seeing the smile on Brian’s face when Adam sings, and the wonderful things he says about Adam, you know the love is mutual. Adam gets to perform fabulous music live with his idols and Brian and Roger have found someone the equal of their beloved Freddie.
fwachdr I did the same thing! Originally thought PR was pretty good but after playing the same songs by him and by AL back to back, there was NO comparison!
If Adam is a superstar in other countries and with Queen, and with the critics, how much does it matter if the central US doesn’t like him? Seriously, is the HAC audience all that matters? I really don’t understand the music biz.
All I want is for the world to love him like we do.
That soundcheck video is breathtaking. It brought me to tears hearing that voice soar into the atmosphere.
Another comment from under the soundcheck vid.
Thank you, ulti.
Thanks for the sound check vid luval. Unearthly is a great term. Queen’s songs ,IMHO, are a perfect platform for the operatic side of Adam’s voice.
Funny thing, I hadn’t listened to Trespassing in a few days since I spent the holiday away with my son and extended family. Today on my way to work I put it on and I have to say I wasn’t as over the top in love with it as I was before the Queen performances. It is hard to compete with these live performances in which Adam is sharing the stage with master musicians and singing iconic music.
.
Adam’s always better live – and I listen/watch his live performances of the Trespassing album songs more than the album itself.
Adamized, I’m sharing your feeling. Adam is free to do everything he can vocally and performance-wise that he wants to do with Queen. He can dance anyway he wants. He can be as fierce as he wants. He can be as tender as he wants. He can be as vocally outrageous as he wants. He can flirt with the audience. He can play with the audience.
These Queen gigs are, in his own words, a make it or break it point in his career. In my humble opinion, it is “make it” time.
That being said, I love Map. It is so George Michael.
Trespassing is still a fantastic CD. I do believe it will sell very well overseas. Simon said that he believed that he had found a true international star in Adam. I hate to say it, but he was right. Middle America be damned. HAC be damned. Queen and the world will be his venue.
I predict that he’ll buy a home in London, and live in both LA and London. Just like Elton, McCartney, Bowie, and so many others. I predict we will lose him to the rest of the world. I really do. And, I’ve always thought so. I remember posting this thought a very long time ago. I haven’t changed my mind at all. Especially now with the fantastic things happening.
On another whole note, everybody please read up on the news about the malware virus. Please check if you are polluted and try to follow the instructions to clean your computers. My husband is going to do it if I ever stop watching Adam!!
I just watched Kiev again. The whole thing. I. Have. Never. Never. Never. Just….Beyond.
I finally looked up Queen on Wikipedia and read that the Live Aid performance was voted by Music Professionals worldwide as the best rock performance of all time, notably Radio Gaga. There is an incredible description by Brian about the hand clapping and their response to it as a band.
Now, that in combination with a Qeenonline blog post about Adam having balls of steel to perform with Queen in Kiev for that massive audience, with the response of hand clapping for Radio GaGa, just leaves me awestruck.
I cannot imagine the flood of emotion he must have been feeling before, during and after the show.
