Exciting times are upon us as July begins! Adam has just completed an outstanding first full length concert with Queen at a charity event in Kiev, Ukraine (as captured in the photo above). Five more Queen + Adam Lambert concerts are lined up for Moscow, Wroclaw (Poland) and London during the next couple of weeks. Adam will then return to the United States to play a series of solo concerts during the second half of the month, including gigs in Costa Mesa, Sacramento, Des Moines, Thackerville (Oklahoma), and a much anticipated return to the site of one of his first and most memorable concerts at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. All told, Adam will perform in 10 live concerts this month, which will make this his busiest month for live performances since November 2010 when he was in the European portion of the Glam Nation Tour. I have been trying to remember the name of the guy who liked Adam and used to post at MJ’s, and he was always wanting Adam to do Rock songs. Just thought of his name. Lorenzo. I don’t THINK he came over here to ALL with us. Maybe he did early on, but I’m not sure. Anyway, I was thinking that I would love to hear his thoughts on the Queen + Adam Lambert shows to see if this is the kind of Rock that he wanted to hear from Adam and what he thought of the performances. jojosie, I’ve just been catching up on some posts I missed last night and wanted you to know that I’m sending thoughts and prayers to the families of the little girls in Iowa. I’ve been following this story on the news – I don’t know how these parents are getting through these days.
Being an Adam fan is such a rollercoaster ride! A week ago, I was on top of the world with Adam and his Queen performances – now that we’re turning our attention back to the Trespassing era, we’re all scared to death! I have to admit, I really enjoyed Adam being the front man for this beloved, established act… it really took some of the pressure off of him (I know, I know – he had to prove himself to all the die-hards, but I always knew he would anyway!). I’m really hoping for more Queen.

Sooooo…GaGa has put her name on a new perfume. Called Fame (of course) – it is black but dries clear. (Wouldn’t try it on a white silk blouse, though…) The ad photo is raising eyebrows and hackles and tempers (of course).
Maybe that is what you have to do to stay in the public eye. Not enough to be mad talented, you need a schtick – being nuts (GaGa), being trashy (Keisha), being whatever.
Post above re kids listening to a song nonstop for a couple of weeks and then they move on – I think that is true, I know that it is true for my students. A song from two months ago is old, they don’t want to hear it – when I introduce a new French song in class, the kids immediately want to know how long it has been out. More than a few weeks and it has no credibility.
The whole concept of an album is foreign to them – Adam’s careful and loving selection of songs and putting them in order…pfft.
My son was playing Metric last night, a group that I really like, and I had my iPad on my lap so I went to buy their new album while I was thinking about it – he thought it was ridiculous that I would like a whole album and buy it, “why not just buy the one or two songs you like best, Mom? Otherwise you will have too many songs by one group and not enough variety.”
So yeah, Adam (and everyone else) is really up against it.
wow, I have just been home for a couple of days, still basking in the warmth of the concerts in London and the joy of experiencing them with my old and new friends from here, and I came on to the blog and whammo! What a punch in the face! I can’t even begin to think that Adam won’t have a world tour with Trespassing, even if he has to play in little theaters which seat 500 people. And I remember some of you bemoaning the fact that you won’t be seeing him in intimate settings anymore. I know that there are “numbers” and a lousy economic situation, but I won’t get to the States in the near future for a radio gig. I have such faith in Adam and his talent, as well as his and his label’s belief in Trespassing and his music. HE IS NOT GOING TO FADE AWAY!
And that review I just read was right. It was amazing watching from the balcony (first row thanks to riskylady) and seeing everybody below waving their hands and clapping in rhythm to the songs.
I am working on putting to paper some musings about the London/Queen/Adam experience, not really a recap, and will post it as soon as it is done.

Northern Spirit is a good four hour drive from Toronto but her parents live here and she visits them often. I’m sure I will see her fairly soon.

I, for one, am sitting here tapping my foot impatiently waiting for an announcement of Queenbert concerts in the US. Now those would sell out in a minute! As for Adam’s current Trespassing shows, they are shorter performances and are not getting all the hoopla and advertising that a full tour would get. A more casual fan is unlikely to go to these shows unless they are local. I went to the 2 shows Memorial Day weekend, in WB and DC, and thought they were fabulous, especially WB. I would gladly go to other shows if they didn’t conflict with my vacation plans. So in addition to the economy, there are other factors contributing to less than stellar ticket sales.

I keep jumping over to MJ’s site every chance I get to check out the new thread topics. I figure she will get American Idol updates fairly quickly since that is one of her big babies. I have everything crossed over here to help make it happen — fingers, toes, arms, legs, eyes, and even my hair!!
Did we ever decide what was going on with the February date (not specific day) that was thrown out by Tommy a week or so ago? I’m thinking/hoping there may be something there for us. Adam has pretty much been on the road and hasn’t had time to build a “show” for us. That kind of thing takes planning, practice, all kinds of consultations to make it happen. I’m pretty sure we will never see the Glam Nation type of show again. I mourn that because Adam the Showman was a large part of the appeal of GNT with the opening act, costumes, dancers. Again, I’m not a fan of the female backup singers, they sometimes hit sour notes and they make him sound out of tune when they do. I’m thinking he said there would be costumes, etc., with Trespassing. I would really like a “show” and not just a concert. But I’ll take whatever Adam is dishing out because I know it will be a treat, whatever it is! And I know he loves his singers.
Don’t forget your “whatsits”, dcglam (whatever that is, lol!
