Perfectly stated, turq.
mils, I am trying mightily to pull together a trip to Des Moines. Have been following the planning thread but not able to add anything because my travel plans are still totally unknown. And yes, it is making me crazy. Juggling a lot of RL and the balls are not staying in the air.

So true, turquoisewaters – makes it even more intolerable that he’s such a decent human being.
Gonna try this post one more time. Since this is a slow Adam day, I’ll take us back to the online comments on the site “Proud to Be Here” to the Instinct mag article. Some of us were horrified about some of the remarks, and some of us posted. I did, and was notified yesterday of another post in the thread. I think it is a good one to follow up the “he is everything they hate rolled into one…” comment from turq, supra.
Here is the link:

Scroll to the bottom for the most recent post. I think it is interesting that even three months later there is activity on the thread.
OK kradamour. Good luck with your planning. I’m going to go ahead and make the reservation for 7:30. I’ll post it on the thread.
If he were to be truly world-wide successful, there might be mass suicide among the haters – they truly are haters.
I’ve read too much to think it will ever go away.
And, unless something happens that can overcome this and project the real Adam onto the world stage, I don’t believe (along with luval?) that he can overcome this. Hope I’m wrong.

ABC News Radio interview. The promotion never ends…
http://abcnewsradioonline.com/music-news/2012/7/17/adam-lamberts-finally-getting-used-to-weird-surreal-life-as.html#ixzz20tG0rXFr
And even radio is tweeting…
Odd – Z100 waits until NCOE is dead as a single before posting the iheart stuff from 2 months ago. I really don’t understand what’s going on in this era with the timing issues. All the way back to releasing BTIKM on iTunes right before Christmas (when radio was in Christmas freeze), then not releasing it as an official single until late January when the sales momentum had gone away, it seems like everything to do with the singles and album promo in this era has been poorly timed.
Going forward, IMO Adam is going to need either additional Queen collaboration/tour dates, or a judge slot on Idol, or even both if he can find time. Lacking either of those things, and without any significant radio airplay, I honestly don’t know what he can do to keep from disappearing off the radar screen entirely. I don’t think going back into the studio for a year or more to record another solo album right now would be a good move either (assuming that RCA would support another album, which at the moment is highly uncertain).
eywflyer, everything you say makes sense. Where (in your opinion) does a tour fit in, if at all?

Or, are these radio gigs the “tour”? There are so many, and dates are randomly added in the same way that GN dates were added. I wonder who – if anyone – is looking at ticket sales for them?
And how do you break out Adam’s impact on ticket sales from the others? In Des Moines, for ex, there is also Train and Neon Trees (if I remember correctly).
I’ve said recently that these gigs are the tour. And Adam’s tweet has me sad and concerned. If there is no real tour we will never have the pleasure of hearing Underneath or the other beautiful music from the album. And I’ve said this before too (after all I am Debbie Downer!)…that you should really try to go to one of these promos because it may be all we get. I am not worried about Adam’s career…he will always do something in music but damn it I want a tour with all the bells & whistles!
Kradamour, my feeling is that these scattered summer and fall dates may well be the only tour we ever get from the Trespassing era. Hard to imagine that a full tour would happen in 2013 unless there is at least a moderate radio hit from this album. After two failed singles, it is very uncertain at this point if there will be a third single, and if there is one will it be supported by any meaningful promo efforts?
I’m not concerned about the radio gig ticket sales as those involve other artists and many other factors, but the slow sales for Costa Mesa, Fantasy Springs and Winstar gigs are alarming, as those are all solo performances, at places that were sold out during the FYE era. It appears that none of those three shows will be close to sold out this time around. Concert promoters will definitely take note.
The only other option would seem to be touring as an opening act for some big name, but especially after the epic Queen gigs it’s literally impossible for me to imagine Adam doing that.
ETA: luval, I think there’s a chance that the CM and FS shows may have a few songs that we haven’t heard live yet in this era. Those are not radio shows, and Adam will be the only performer (aside from perhaps a minor opening act), so I would think they could/should run longer than the radio gigs back in May. Don’t know if they have had time to practice anything new since Adam got back to LA, or if they practiced some surprises before he left, but here’s hoping.
I was curious to see how other artists were selling so I took a look at their sales at WinStar.
It seems that Adam is not alone in not selling out or having slow ticket sales.
Kelly Clarkson is touring with The Fray and they still have some tickets left (although almost sold out). She is all over radio these days and on TV (Duets) so selling out 2500 seats should be easy. They even have a buy one get one free offer now.
Pitbull is bringing his Planet Pit World Tour there and he too was all over the radio but there are still lots of tickets available.
Vince Gill, a top country artist, has sold even less than Adam.
It seems that old-time rocker Rod Stewart tops all of them for sales and has 2 nights there.
Looking at those concerts presents an interesting perspective on concert sales. Times are tough for all artists whether or not they are currently on radio or not. And I do believe that if Adam had an actual Trespassing tour versus these one-offs scattered among radio gigs that the concerts would sell better.
Eywflyer, I’m told Adam and the band and back up singers did practice today.
I am very sad that Adam felt the need today to “beg” his fans to request his music on radio. That totally broke my heart. Along with the majority of the rest of us, I am hoping Adam lands this AI gig as well as additional Queen concerts. I know I’ve mentioned before that he will always have opportunities coming his way. However, Trespassing has been his baby now for so many months. He worked so long and so hard at perfecting this album to be just the way he wanted. He totally put his heart and soul into this sophomore album. I’m sure he would gladly give up some of these other opportunities in exchange for a successful album.
ETA: AL, thanks for your input on the total sales picture. It does help to put things in perspective.
eywflyer, this seems so totally possible to me too. That’s why I’m determined to try to make it to Des Moines despite pressing obstacles. I don’t want to miss a chance to hear Trespassing songs live.
Tommy tweeted about it earlier and the girls posted pics. Wonder how Adam feels getting back to his own music and band?
The girls http://instagr.am/p/NMtnDMG4oE/
I feel that if Adam gets the Idol job that will be the thing that will make radio play his music.
Shouldn’t,
luval, I hadn’t thought of it that way. Ok, so now I’m on the It’s-okay-if-he-goes-on-Idol-train.
I’m hoping that his first concert at Costa Mesa will be so amazing that it will spur sales for the other concerts.
Hi, everyone. It’s been an exciting few weeks, and now it’s back to reality, it seems. Maybe I’m just an incurable optimist, but I’m not looking at that reality so gloomily. For one thing, I don’t think Adam’s tweet urging fans to request NCOE sounded desperate at all. It’s not like Adam has been on Mars away from all communication for the past month. I’m sure he’s been well apprised of the radio situation and was just focusing on one thing at a time. He could have tweeted that message at any time, but he chose now maybe because now is when he’s wanting to get back to his primary mission. I don’t for a minute think he got home and was shocked to see that NCOE was in dire straits — rather, I’m speculating that he’s now at a better demographic vantage point to tackle the whole radio thing. HE made the choice to take time out right in the middle of his album/single promotion; I’m not questioning the prudence of that because, let’s face it, an opportunity to perform with Queen just isn’t something you refuse. In making that decision, though, I’m quite sure he and his people discussed the various ramifications, and, at any point while he was traveling Europe, he or his management could have been cracking the whip urging us along with our requests back here at home. For whatever reason, they took time off on the domestic front. Now, it seems, they’re again ready to forge ahead.
I’m also not too surprised by the lower ticket sales at his upcoming concerts. When Adam performed at those venues during Era I, those were the first opportunities we had to see him post-Idol. Since then, we’ve either seen him live as he traveled around with GlamNation or we’ve seen countless UTubes of each and every breath he’s uttered publicly since then. The urgency to go see him sing his songs knowing that a fully choreographed concert tour could be right around the corner is just not as great this time around, IMO.
Adam just stunned the socks off of a boat-load of people in Europe and probably made a small mint in the process. He worked on building a positive reputation, and, based on all the flailing, even from Freddie’s home stomping grounds, he was quite successful in earning tons of new respect. We probably can’t even yet conceive of the opportunities out there for Adam, just like the whole Queen thing cropped up as a fabulous surprise. He may never be a huge radio star, but I really, really believe he’ll be a major musical and celebrity presence for years to come.
I believe so. And he´ll be doing his thing despite all the hate.
I do believe this. But I don’t want to take a chance and not see him promoting this album.
Yes, there is a lot of hate out there, but it’s not all directed at Adam. If you go on any article for any person, the haters come out in force to spew their venom. Some people just thrive on going onto various sites to put others down, but those people must be unbelievably insecure, unhappy and personally bored to do so.
Boy oh boy. I see that it’s been 3 days since a show, and here we are in our usual “slump” days of getting down in the dumps.
Jeepers. I’m just not gonna join in. Adam’s name is in the news a lot these days. No, it’s not for Queenbert. But, hey, look at other Idols. They’re singing the NA, tossing out balls, NOT selling records, hosting a badly received TV show ( Duets), not selling out audiences either. The Idol tour is bombing. Next they’ll announce canceled shows.
Adam’s in good company. And he’s the victim of our economy, just like every other artist out there. Except Adele. And Bieber.
No, he’s not the headliner in Des Moines. But, if I could manufacture money I’d be hopping a plane to Fantasy Springs.
I still believe he will tour. How can he not? I know a lot of people who would like to see him this time who didn’t last time. If he does do Idol, he will gain a bigger audience. With his charm, his ease with words, his, just, his Adam-ness, he will win big.
I wasn’t a fan of him being a judge, but I’m changing my tune. It might just be the best move for him.
Teri, I agree with all your posts, and appreciate your comments.
AL, I live in the Dallas Metroplex and there are billboards all over the place for Rod and Stevie Nix – I haven’t seen even one billboard for Adam… Two years ago, Adam billboards were all over the place. Even today, when I checked in at mj’s, there was a banner at the top of her site for Rod Stewart at Winstar Casino.
AL, I was looking at sales at Costa Mesa and I came out with the same conclusion as you. In 2010, a year after his Idol season Adam sold out Costa Mesa TWICE.
This year Scotty, very popular Idol winner, platinum seller can’t sell out the same venue. He sells better than Adam, but doesn’t sell out. I checked other acts and it’s the same story.
Unless you are Lady Gaga or Bieber, your’e not doing THAT great.
I don’t know what it is, could be the economy.
Something tells me that we will see Queenbert in US. Or rejuvenated Queenbert will have concerts all over the world giving Adam some nice financial cushion.
I think that as long as he will be with Sauli and have enough money to live comfortably , he will be one happy person…
I’m not quite ready to throw in the towel either. I think they should go ahead and put out Trespassing as a single and make a stompy, wild video for it. While Queen talk is still going on. People need to be hit over the head multiple times before they like something/someone. The more I think about it, the more I like the Idol judging idea. Excellent platform to perform another single or two, to show off his charm and smarts, and to just keep his name out there.
Teri and jlurksacto: Thank you for your positive posts. I was already feeling that knot in my stomach that accompanies all bad Adam-news days.
Lÿndsey Parker@lyndseyparker
Here is my rant about who I think Idol should hire to be Season 12 judges. Agree with my points? http://yhoo.it/OS9a9l
OK FOLKS!!!! I am counting the seconds until Friday and Sacramento when I can SEE–IN PERSON–Mr. Adam Lambert!!!!!Happiness fills me just at the thought, even after following every breath of his Queen performances. I am taking my daughter and granddaughters and their aunt so ALL IS GOOD!!!! We all know that loving Adam is a journey and we need to live in his GLORY!!!! I, for one, am so HAPPY and will have confidence in the STARS!!!! As Sauli says often “Yeh Yeh!!!”

Gosh, so much doom and gloom again this morning…..did anyone see my photos to brighten your day????
Here’s the link again in case you missed them…

I try not to post non Adam related news, but I live right next to the town where the two little cousins have been missing since Friday. My husband’s oldest granddaughter is related by marriage to them. She stopped last night after being out on the search and helping the family with needs at their home. She was so upset she couldn’t even talk. The network news men are here, the FBI arrived and after all this time they have no idea what happened to them. They just vanished. We are left hoping each news cast will bring some news, at this point I don’t think the news will be good. Little girls 8 and 10 don’t run off by themselves. I just signed an online petition to allow the Amber Alert to be used in cases like this. It wasn’t as there was no evidence of abduction. On a more pleasant thought, I really think Adam needs to be seen on the small screen or the big screen. I know it’s something he wants and I want it for him. Thinking happy thoughts of Des Moines and Adam as it may be the only time I get to see him live this year.
HK Fan your pictures are great. He looks so young in some. These should cheer folks up.
Your photos are awesome, HK fan! I think that lucky #13 is my favorite.
Thank you for sharing…..
Interesting that while as usual there are folks here who tend to look at the bright side and the dark side of the current situation, everyone seems to be warming up to the idea of Adam as AI judge. I think that Nigel’s one year contract idea could fit right in with Adam’s plans – he could use a year on the Idol platform to keep himself visible, promo his own music and perhaps a Queen collab too, then launch into whatever he wants to do next in June 2013, fresh off appearing on millions of TV sets twice a week for months.
Oksana, you mentioned Sauli above, one thing I have wondered about for a while now, will Sauli be able to continue finding employment in the US such that he can stay long term? U.S. immigration policy is particularly harsh and discriminatory for bi-national same-sex couples to deal with, even those who are legally married in states that allow it have no status at all when it comes to the federal law. I suspect that part of the reason Sauli recently spent a stretch of time back in Finland was to keep his status good so that he could return to the U.S. now that Adam is back here. Hopefully Adam and Sauli can find a good immigration lawyer to help them if they remain together long term, which it appears they will. Otherwise this may be another reason that we eventually lose Adam to Europe, as Finland is part of the EU and I’m pretty sure that Adam and Sauli could legally live together as at least domestic partners if not married in some of the EU countries.
Thanks HKFan. Just what the doctor prescribed!

And let’s not forget that Brian and Roger, no dummies in the music marketing dept., have Adam’s back. Surely they will have lots of wisdom to share, as well as support and connections.

I’m thinking the Elton John connection can’t hurt either.
Mixed feelings about the chick posting Adam’s comment in her yearbook…if the motivation is generosity to fans to share a little bit of early Adam, I have less problem with it…a strange tweet.

Jlurk, thanks for posting the link correctly. I had link fail above. Ha. Such great responses. I can tell lots of true Queen fans were turned around.
Will Adam be another godfather? http://t.co/H7YAoYcj
Alisan’s babe. Cutie. Ouch, a 7 pounder for her is like a 14 pounder for me!
Thank you HK fan for your great pictures! With location did you take them, seats or floor? I couldn’t concentrate in photographing
And thanks to all those who posted bright side of the current situation. It really seems that many artists are struggling at the moment… I wonder, is it so that people get these days so much entertainment from different kinds of media, that there are more (younger?) people who are not so interested in listening the honest true old-time singing live? Maybe people listen to a hit song couple of weeks, then move forward to the next? But thank god there are still people who value good music and voice, as we can read from the Queen+Adam concert reviews in the ticketmaster
Reading them made me happy and privileged to be there in person…
ladynorth, apart from the first one they were all from the floor. I just held the camera up every now and then and hoped for the best!
just checking twitter, these are nice tweets from Taylor
Taylor Green @TaylorG90
The shows have come and gone. @adamlambert will be known in history wether you like it or not. He is inspiration in it’s purist form.

Adam Lambert would make a terrific judge on #AmericanIdol. What do u think?? (cc: @Adamlambert)
