Adam has apparently wrapped up his US radio promo tour, at least for the moment, as April begins. Above we see Adam as he spent the last several weeks – hard at work with promo. This is (hopefully) finally the last month – for real – before Adam’s new “Trespassing” album will be released. The album is scheduled to drop on May 15. Will we get a second single ahead of the album release date? Will Adam perform on American Idol sometime in the next several weeks? We’ll know soon – in the meantime enjoy the chat!

Thanks, nkd. I can’t wait for the Idol performance – he always “brings it” when he performs on the Idol stage!

  2. nkd says:

Your welcome Texas. I’m jealous you heard NCOE on the radio today! I’d turn it up too, waaay up!

This is the Wroclaw stadium in Poland. Wow!
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stadion_Miejski_(Wroc%C5%82aw)

  3. ultimathule says:

Now – what scenarios pop into the mind for a NCOE video? Sex sells so I want it to be sexy. Love BTIKM vid, but think too brooding for the summer. Maybe something on a beach so he could come out all covered up with sunscreen on? Maybe that gorgeous Florida hat? So darn annoying that he’s so limited in what he can get away with.

  4. ultimathule says:

Wow is right, nkd – that is some stadium – finished just last year. Like the transparent cover and that the external walls can change color. Bet the sound system will be incredible. What a venue – lucky anyone going to that concert.

  5. Kradamour says:

Oddly enough, my husband has been wanting to go to Poland. I don’t see this happening, though.
    35,000? Yikes!
    Shock Shock Shock

  6. Ceddies says:

Anybody who knows, just jump in here please. Since I’ve never watched the Jimmy Kimmel show, I need to know if it follows pretty much the same format as Leno & Letterman with the musical guest being last?

I wanna watch Vintage Trouble on there but don’t want to watch the whole show tonight, and it is already on. I will watch all of it Thursday night because I want to see any possible audience shots as well as our man Adam and band.

ETA: Just figured it out from Kimmel himself.

  7. aely says:

Kradamour. Poland is wonderful. Been twice. Highly recommend going.

  8. milwlovesadam says:

Yes, Kimmel is the same usually, singers last.

I checked 2 of our local stations, and they don’t have NCOE as a request. So I sent emails. They haven’t even played WWFM in the last 250 songs either. They have had it in rotation of the 200 song playlist for 2 years. Poo!

My Adam moment was when I heard a snip of it while watching Live with Kelly this morning.

Not on Insider tonight either. More Pooo!

  9. milwlovesadam says:

I wonder if Adam would portray various couples in love, a la Katy Perry in Firework? Much less “threatening” that way.

I just don’t know anymore. Maybe we analyze too much. But, this fan of Glee and Smash has seen so much gay love in the two newest episodes, I can’t imagine why anybody who watches current media should be offended anymore. I don’t even think twice about it. I just see love and romance.

  10. Ceddies says:

Yes, Kimmel is the same usually, singers last.

    Thanks, mils.

  11. ultimathule says:

Agree with you, mils – but Adam seems to be in a different category. I suspect that’s because his real life persona is one of a powerfully sexual gay man – aggressive in a very male way – those in Glee and Smash don’t come across, as far as I know, like that. What do you think would be the result of his having a male lover in the video? Think the DJs/PDs would still play NCOE? Got me.

  12. Kradamour says:

    Thanks, aely.
Husband has always been interested in the old Warsaw pact countries, he is a former naval officer and has worked with the Polish military.
Me, I’m more Paris, but husband doesn’t speak French so I go alone.
Now if Queen adds Paris to the mini-tour, THAT would get me on a plane to Europe!

  13. Kradamour says:

I think that Adam would be very comfortable just doing the singing, while other people were the couples, if that works for the video. And there could always be another take on it, too, could be a lot of reasons to postpone sleeping while other more exciting/passionate things are happening, not necessarily romantically passionate or exciting.

  14. milwlovesadam says:

    Riskylady, you have more fanmail.

  15. milwlovesadam says:

Kradamour, ITA. When I wrote my post above, I was imagining other couples, not Adam. If Adam were portrayed as a part of the gay couple, it could be more problematic for his career. This saddens me very much.

  16. riskylady says:

Guys, remember that interview where he said the song to him is about a community, about “us.” I think he might try to do something along that line, although cannot imagine HOW on earth he would do it!

  17. Ceddies says:

Not feeling the Vintage Trouble performance. Too shouty and frantic. I know they are capable of so much more.

    Gone to bed now. Nite.

  18. riskylady says:

Oh, thanks, Mils. I think I’m ready for liftoff, will let you know how it goes.

  19. milwlovesadam says:

    Thanks riskylady. Good luck!

  20. Ceddies says:

I’ve been thinking that Adam may not want to take that much risk this early in Trespassing’s life—maybe later down the line with another of his hits from Trespassing. Like we already know, Adam can’t get away with things others get away with. He is held to a different standard by so many people who hold power over his livelihood. He would have to know that there may be a backlash, and there is so much riding on this album. But, who knows?

  21. Ceddies says:

Oh, I just now read your post at 12:54 mils. Looks like we are on the same page there.

  22. Kradamour says:

Popped back in for a minute – I think it is interesting that all of a sudden Adam is the darling of the gay press: simultaneous covers on Fault, Dorian, Insight.
    Remember the brouhaha with Out?
Looks like there is no question that he is gay enough now!

Off to bed, peeps – sweet Adam dreams!

  23. Miss Chaos says:

MY Adam moment for the day! As I left the house, ( and I have been here for a year lol) The second street on my right is Adams Street! How silly is that, I never paid attention. And a street named Adams Street, I find that so funny.

  24. HK fan says:

    josephine cute dog story…

Kradamour, congratulations on finally hearing Adam on the radio…I heard him for the first time last week too,FYE. It was so exciting. I’m not saying he doesn’t get played though, I just don’t listen to the radio.

    Fault Magazine Editor’s Note:
“First on that list is a certain Mr Adam Lambert. Now that the issue is out, we’ll admit to a shameful secret. One of our editors was not in favour of Adam’s inclusion from the start. Now, before Glamberts start hurling bricks, let’s put that into context: It can occasionally be difficult to drop one’s blinkers in a creative environment which is so often saturated with mediocrity. That is particularly true when you are confronted with an artist who, firstly is unashamedly “pop”, secondly retains such a strong visual element to his personal brand and thirdly – lest we forget – one who shot to fame through a reality TV show. Any doubts this editor may have had, however, were immediately wiped out by attending Adam’s London showcase during which he was privileged enough to hear what is undoubtedly one of the finest voices in live music – of any genre – in the world today.”

  26. glambotgram says:

josephine that dog story made me almost choke on my tea this morning. Hope you are not grounded for long.

May 29th for NCOE really? Why so long? Seems like it will have run its course by then. I want something exciting to come out right after album release, Trespassing, Shady, Cuckoo.

Amazing what the editor of Fault said about Adam. Initially suspicious & hesitant about a reality show pop star, but then:

Any doubts this editor may have had, however, were immediately wiped out by attending Adam’s London showcase during which he was privileged enough to hear what is undoubtedly one of the finest voices in live music – of any genre – in the world today.

glambotgram – Regarding the May 29 adds date for NCOE, at first I wondered “why so long from now?” as well. But I’ve seen the argument below posted by several people, and had a discussion with @chartnonny (who I follow on twitter and seems to know something about radio) about it over twitter, so I’m satisfied that RCA is taking a long-term strategy with Adam and Trespassing.

This was at the FYEntertainment blog:

    anonymous:
this seems to indicate a long term strategy, rather than timing everything happening all at once, they’re planning for tv and print promo and early adopters on radio (and stans ofc) to drive the initial album purchases, and then the radioplay to hopefully build once that’s over to sustain sales while he’s bizzy doing international promo and gigs with queen

    chartnonny:
This is exactly what it means. It’s really good news. It means that they are invested enough to take time to build the singles. It’s what labels do for acts that they see as long-term investments. If they didn’t care, the song would have just been tossed out there or given an early adds date and then left to fend for itself.

I would put money on this being the strategy that they have had planned for a while, what with Adam talking about them working several singles to radio and not touring just yet.

@chartnonny also said this on twitter:

I’m good with it. It shows they have long-term investment in making the singles work. He also has 6 big market radio concerts in the weeks immediately before it which are a great lead in to official adds date. A song can’t build momentum for an album release in a week or two. It takes even the biggest hits far longer than that to climb the charts. This adds date is really not a negative thing in the least.

mmb also has a well-articulated post over at MJs saying essentially this same thing.

  31. cwm says:

Wow, what an embarrassment of Adam riches yesterday — the morning radio interview, the Instinct cover and article, the Fault release and photos, the Swedish article, the Rolling Stone review of NCOE, an adds date for NCOE, etc. etc. Can hardly keep up! It’s all great.

  32. glambotgram says:

cwm thank you for that post explaining single release. It makes more sense now. I really don’t understand radio adds at all and I guess I am just impatient.

  34. ultimathule says:

AQD has a funny quote from a poster: “lolol I just phoned Instinct and they were like ‘Let me guess, you want the Adam Lambert issue?'”

And from @jeffmkatz – “These #glamberts are DEDICATED! The phone orders for the new @Instinctmag feat. @adamlambert have been non-stop from as far as New Zealand.”

  35. sparkle says:

Hi everyone! It’s good to be back home after a busy, fun-filled long weekend in L.A. I haven’t read 9 pages of comments and need to see what I missed – must have been a lot with 9 pages. Glambotgram – I’ll be letting you know what tickets I have for WB so we can decide which ones we’re using – assuming that you weren’t lucky enough to get the M&G’s we both so wanted. If anyone wants me to, I can do a quick recap of my trip, which concluded with being in a front row seat behind 3 rows of chairs for the Leno Show with Train as the musical guest (not Adam, but they were very good). I can’t wait to get caught up on all the news! I missed all of you very much!

  36. ultimathule says:

Whoooeeee – 94.7 in D.C. just played NCOE!

  37. Kradamour says:

That was our promo, wasn’t it ultimathule? The radio peeps treated us so well. Better than the paid M&G I had in Paris, by far! Definitely a class act. I always listen to them now when I am in Maryland.

Re Instinct…waiting for the magazine industry to sit up and realize that anything they publish with Adam on the cover will many times multiply their usual distribution…then watch out while the industry rolls out the red carpet for him…every coffee table and doctor’s office in America will boast pics of Adam…on Rolling Stone, Details, Out, Better Homes and Gardens, Vogue Knitting, Bon Appetit…

  38. Kradamour says:

I wish that Ticketmaster would change their image of Adam. It’s the FYI cover art. Ugh. That is so two years ago…how would we approach them to change it?

  39. ultimathule says:

    Now 94.7 is playing WWFM.

  40. ultimathule says:

Bon Appetit – like that one, Kradamour – somehow it’s very suitable.

And, yes! A Rolling Stone cover – was thinking of that – theme could be the one Adam has been talking about – a male pop artist at last. Please universe – let it be so.

  41. Kradamour says:

Second row pit on Stub Hub (Wilkes Barre) for “only” about $824 each tkt. Five are available.
I think that these would be the VIP tickets – that apparently aren’t wanted. Obviously not fan tickets that the fan decided to upgrade. Which means they were bought by someone looking to make a profit. Bah.

  42. nkd says:

Here’s a little poll for radio play. If you’d like to throw in a vote or a few. NCOE is way ahead right now. The poll ends 4/30.

And MJ herself has written an EW piece about the best and worst performances of Queen songs on Idol. She names Adam’s and Kris’ performance with Queen as “maybe the best ever.” I like how she underscores Adam’s “outrageous vocals.” (The shoulder cages she refers to him wearing, however, were for his performance with KISS that night, not Queen. LOL)

Qeerty picked up Adam’s quote in the Instinct article about gay men’s support of female divas vs. gay male singers, and featured it in their own post. Interesting discussion going on in the comments section. I don’t want to put anyone on the spot, of course, but I’d love to hear from some of our gay friends here for your perspective on Adam’s comment, as well as your take on the discussion in the Queerty comments section. Smile What do you guys think?

94.7 playing NCOE – RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! Second time today!

  47. milwlovesadam says:

Now, that was a very interesting read.

I just hope that this “staged” and “choreographed” roll out has a dance tune in the clubs by June. I have a feeling a lot of people, gay and straight will be dancing to Adam and not even know it’s him. Then, one day, they’ll find out just WHO is singing and they’ll say, “Oh really?”

  48. milwlovesadam says:

Just checked my local IHeartRadio station, and they finally have NCOE as an official request, and it is right at the top of the page!!

Well, now I know how to keep myself busy….drat…
(It only lets you request once daily)
