Adam has apparently wrapped up his US radio promo tour, at least for the moment, as April begins. Above we see Adam as he spent the last several weeks – hard at work with promo. This is (hopefully) finally the last month – for real – before Adam’s new “Trespassing” album will be released. The album is scheduled to drop on May 15. Will we get a second single ahead of the album release date? Will Adam perform on American Idol sometime in the next several weeks? We’ll know soon – in the meantime enjoy the chat!

    Good morning, rs & Oksana!

ITA with your post, rs. I’m on the Iwanttoseehimsingitlive team. And the shows you mentioned are fine with me of course including the talk shows, etc. Just once! I remember when many of us wanted him to sing CLYG just once and it never happened.

Oksana, maybe huge ticket sales is a good thing. Shows interest & the possibility of more shows. Here in the USA! I’d be a little worried if they were not sold out. Interest waning and all that.

  2. glambotgram says:

rs Great post. ITA I want to hear this live.

On another note, I love Home Planet and usually Love Chunky’s take on things but she needs to get rid of that Fantasia gif attatched to Underneath. That is just so totally wrong, it really skeeves me out.

  3. Kradamour says:

So if not in concert, then at a radio show or VH1, or MTV, or a video, I don’t care, but I want to see him sing it; his face, his expressions, his body, his gestures.

Rs, luval, nekkid…I get it…it is just the audience that I fear. Television, radio promo, anyplace where peeps will be respectful would be gratefully received by me, too…but a concert would scare me, especially as we are hoping that non-bubble peeps will come to concerts and they would not know anything about this song before they hear it. Like ultimathule, it would break my heart to hear it with conversations and random audience issues. I might physically injure a person on a cell phone. And I think that audience issues would be hurtful to Adam, too – this song clearly means more to him than perhaps anything except Broken Open. But in a “safe” environment, it would be magical to hear (and especially see) him perform this.

    I’m on team Iwanttoseehimsingitliveinasafeenvironment.
But once would do it for me.

Have a great day, peeps! Sending good wishes for all the peeps trying to make the Queen concert work for them!

  4. rs says:

Queen concert is working! Even though, try as I might I was “forbidden” from entering one ticket site yesterday and after I got good seats today, the other site wouldn’t let me continue because they “can’t send the tickets to this address”. Still, thanks to my dear, dear friends, I will rock out and dance on the GA floor the first night and sit in the first row balcony the second night. What could be better?

  5. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

…usually Love Chunky’s take on things but she needs to get rid of that Fantasia gif attatched to Underneath.

glambotgram, Fantasia IS totally skeevy, lol. But that gif doesn’t really bother me because I also think Fantasia is a huge, lame, fool – what an opportunity she’s fizzling away. Like “they” say, you can’t fix stupid. Grin

I’m definitely on team #musthearunderneathperformedliveinanintimatesetting. Whew! As much as I want to see his emotion while performing this song, I want him to see our emotion too. Sure there will be those who are totally oblivious to the special moment unfolding before their eyes, but most will be glued to their spot, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t a fair amount of shushing going on. And, I’m sure that Adam wishes that people would shut the eff up, but he’s used to it.

    I still lurve Naked Love!!

  6. sparkle says:

Hi csesq! I remember you from MJ’s! I definitely want to go to Wilkes-Barre for the concert. So, are you doing the presale thing? When the regular tickets go on sale, I’ll be out in LA so I’m not sure which way to go. Do you live south or west of WB? Maybe we could meet up and carpool. I’ve never gone to a concert by myself before but I know many recommended it during the GNT.

  7. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

sparkle, I went to several GNT shows with a guest (and they enjoyed the show, just not as much as I did … but how could they? Smile ), but the last show I went alone, and it really was the best experience for me. But if you could go with one of “us” from this blog, that would be a win-win! Good luck to you and the others planning to go to this show – it’ll be so much fun being among the first to hear the new music!

Bye-bye for now – got “stuff” to do. BBL Blowing Kisses

I imagine Adam singing Underneath at the Grammys. Totally dark stage with the spotlight gently revealing Adam…and then he receives his Grammy for album of the year.

Still shivers in my legs when this song starts. The tears are inevitable.

  9. milwlovesadam says:

Kinda off topic, but, I just can’t help myself. I’m in the corner again, I can’t get out.

    Just watched The View.

Guest said that the odor that arouses females the most is a combination of cucumber and Good ‘N Plenty candies.

    Ahem.

  10. nkd says:

I gifted NCOE to my youngest daughter, she’s 19, and her friend yesterday. She called me to tell me that she had been listening to it. She listened to all of the snippets and said she liked them and mentioned how much OOL stood out.

  11. nkd says:

arouses females the most is a combination of cucumber and Good ‘N Plenty candies.

Well what we learned from that one interview is that his cucumber is good ‘n plenty!
    This explains it all!
    Scooch over mils!

  12. riskylady says:

rs, beautiful post, but then I expect nothing less from you as always!
glambotgram, love chunkey too, but totally agree, Fantasia gif has to go!
cwm, which night is it that you will be in block 7 at the Hammersmith? rs and I will be there on the 12th, first row.

  13. riskylady says:

Anyone who even reads mils and nkd’s posts should now be in the corner, including me.

  14. nkd says:

On that note, I need to go juice my cucumbers!
    And spinach, basil, mint, etc…

  15. nkd says:

Meatloaf comments in Beatweek mag article.

“Every producer wants me to use this other rougher voice, and they all want me to use it, a little more Cocker-ish, a little more Steven Tyler, I guess. And I don’t want to use it. I want to use my Adam Lambert voice. I don’t have my Adam Lambert voice. I never did have my Adam Lambert voice, it’s just what I want to have. That’s funny. That makes me laugh. Adam Lambert, by the way, is possibly one of the three greatest singers in the entire world. I link him with Aretha, Whitney, and Adam Lambert. I couldn’t touch those three with a ten foot, or hundred foot, pole. Emotionally I can, vocally I couldn’t.” http://www.beatweek.com/coverstory/12723-meat-loafs-world-goes-to-hell-in-a-handbasket-the-beatweek-interview/

  16. glambotgram says:

Well what we learned from that one interview is that his cucumber is good ‘n plenty!
    This explains it all!
    Scooch over mils!

OMG I am LMAO at work and had to come in here to comment. You people are hilarious and yes I will be joining the corner as soon as I leave here. I might have a new fondness for Good n Plenty.

  17. milwlovesadam says:

    Love the Meatloaf comments.

I wonder if younger kids even know how great his legacy is. All they know him by is that he lost his shit on Apprentice. I think Glee should salute him. They would kill it. I would love it.

On a whole different note. I am shredded by Underneath. I think those are his most raw and open lyrics to date. That one song really lets us inside him. He told us over and over that he was letting us in. I honestly think he left the dirty mind out of this one. No double meanings here. Just raw emotion.

What really gets me is the “everybody wants to talk about a freak” “you’re gonna see things you might not wanna see, I’m gonna take you underneath” “It’s still not that easy for me” “tears in my eyes.”

Oh my goodness. It makes my heart ache.

I hope he can sing this live someday, somewhere. It could be a ballet. It should be skated to. It could be in a movie. So emotional. I get that it was killer to sing. But, I join the chorus of needing to hear him sing it live. I saw Broken Open in several of my shows. What a stand out, that and Soaked. Pure voice.

  18. rs says:

    Perfect

  19. milwlovesadam says:

I wonder about the Rolling Stone article/interview that Nile Rogers tweeted about. Have a feeling that if RS interviewed him, their review of Trespassing is going to be good. I hope at least 4 stars. Can’t wait. Meanwhile, I can’t stop listening to Shady and that long version of Underneath.

“Haunting” is the word that comes to mind.

It still reminds me of something. I’m going to go listen to some Depeche Mode. I’ll be back.

  20. milwlovesadam says:

Nope. Not Depeche Mode. I can see how they influenced other tracks though.

    Maybe it’s Goldfrappe.

  21. milwlovesadam says:

    Yup. Goldfrapp. Utopia.

cher, I cannot believe that your husband is actually blind to your many subterfuges

Trust me, Krad. He can be clueless sometimes. Remember he’s not computer literate, so he wouldn’t have a clue how to check up on me. My “adopted” daughter is here now and I just told her what you posted and she’s laughing and saying, “That’s because you don’t know him!” Perfect timing though. He went out of town Monday and luckily because I’ve had over 200 emails with all the planning for presale buying early Tuesday morning, so he wasn’t here for the 4am stress! Grin Grin Everything is on a need to know basis and he doesn’t need to know everything. I am an independent working lady! Laugh

  23. rs says:

    It could be a ballet.

Could you imagine him singing it on SYTYCD? with Sasha as a guest dancer? The studio wouldn’t be able to contain the emotions generated there.

  24. cher says:

    Krad

I did forget to say that his best friend helps me out a lot. He liked Adam on idol and I plot with him to keep hubby busy when I’m doing Adam stuff. He’s a newly single guy who hangs out a lot over here, so if he doesn’t help me out, I won’t feed him anymore. Food is great for bribes. Grin

Still shivers in my legs when this song starts. The tears are inevitable.

She listened to all of the snippets and said she liked them and mentioned how much OOL stood out.

nkd, these quotes are from a couple of your comments above, and I related them because of what was on my mind earlier today. I had just awakened and was lying there letting my mind flow freely. Underneath came to my mind and how the song just does things to me that I can’t even really describe. I was thinking that I really would like to hear him sing it but figured that it won’t ever happen. Then my mind went to Adam’s Ste. Agathe performance of OOL and how I was just entranced with chills literally overcoming my body. My hair felt as if it was standing on end. I don’t even remember hearing (in real time) the girl yelling out “Marry me” that showed up on videos that folks posted. I don’t know if I could survive a live performance of Underneath.

  27. Ceddies says:

I honestly think he left the dirty mind out of this one. No double meanings here. Just raw emotion.

mils, I agree about this. My fear, though, is that some folks who don’t really know or care to understand him will hone in on that line. Some folks are not in tune to emotion in that context as we are. So I was hesitant to post it, as I don’t feel up to defending him right now. It pains me to think that he has had to fight for his rights and feelings his whole life. As have others. I hope it makes him feel really good to know that there are so many folks who have his back. Right now, though, I just don’t have energy to fight for anything or anyone. I’m going to fight that fight, if necessary, with my FB friends when the entire version is released. Then I can sit back and watch them be seduced by his voice and everything about him.

  28. Ceddies says:

We don’t have a complete version of Underneath yet, do we?

  29. Oksana2000 says:

    Hi everyone!! (waving)
With Queen sellout (I wonder how many ticket went to scalpers?) I’m relieved that fall of Sonisphere can’t be attributed to Adam anymore… Smile

I honestly think he left the dirty mind out of this one. No double meanings here. Just raw emotion.

The young [29 and under??? ( :–D ) ] will play with words and find naughty ways to interpret whatever they want. I remember a bunch of us sitting on the LR floor going through my collection of 45s, looking for smut. “Rubber Ball” produced a very loud snigger!

ETA Grrrr can’t get the smiley to work Frown

  31. Ceddies says:

I’m going to fight that fight, if necessary, with my FB friends when the entire version is released.

And, I don’t mean that all my FB friends are close-minded. Just a few of them are, but I would prefer that all of them like Adam and his music. Some of them have just looked at me in bewilderment when I told them about my trip to Canada last summer and that the object of the trip was a singer and his fans. Actually, one of my FB friends (who doesn’t usually post here) is going to see Adam at the Jimmy Kimmel show (I believe that’s the show). So, I’m not caught up with all “haters”. LOL

ETA: And, oh yeah, several of them are going to the Q&A in July.

  32. riskylady says:

  33. Calgary says:

This is sort of on/off topic but I need to vent. For the first time in 40 years we are having a real, seriously contested provincial election with the incumbents being threatened by an upstart, right-wing group with a female Santorum-like leader. She was a journalist a few years ago, and here is one of the comments she made in her column in our leading newspaper about a university and its rules: “It is perfectly reasonable (to) expect its students to refrain from practices that are biblically condemned, and sign a pledge not to get drunk, swear, harass, lie, cheat, steal, have an abortion, practise the occult, or engage in sexual sins such as premarital sex, adultery, homosexual behaviour and viewing of pornography.” It’s so depressing to think she might be leading our province.

  34. Ceddies says:

Calgary, looks like that pledge covered everything except taking another’s life. She sounds mentally unbalanced IMHO. It is scarey to think of leaders like that. Surely reasonable people won’t take her seriously as a candidate.

  35. luval says:

Oh, no is right, riskylady. Say it ain’t so. Frown

Oksana, where did you hear London was sold out?

  36. milwlovesadam says:

Calgary, politics are just getting scarier and scarier these days. I’m from the land of Scott Walker and Paul Ryan. I’m almost afraid to read the paper these days. These two men are national and even international news this year. Very scary. And, add in Romney, it makes my head spin. And my liberal heart bleed.

That’s why I need good solid entertainment. With a side order of Good ‘N Plenty.

  37. Ceddies says:

Well, I was pretty-much away from the blog for a couple of weeks and didn’t post at all. Now, looking back over the last page of comments, I’ve been the PostHo of the day so far. Looks like I can’t shut up. Manic today? So, I’ll go away for awhile now. BBL.

  38. Oksana2000 says:

  39. luval says:

Thanks, Oksana! Looks like it to me too!!

Jimmy Kimmel is sold out too! (well, it’s a free show so it means it’s filled up!)

  40. milwlovesadam says:

I wonder if Meatloaf has heard Underneath?

  41. Miss Chaos says:

^^^^^^If so, he will throw things Grin

  42. turquoisewaters says:

re Underneath: After letting it all sit for a while, I’m stunned by Adam’s guts to put himself out there like this. I have certainly never heard anything that personal.
Rihana’s song that was mentioned before is about raw sex, whereas Underneath is so intimate and spiritual. They have nothing in common.

  43. glambotgram says:

Ok I have some thoughts, questions, comments on Underneath.

I want to know how this song came to Adam. Did he solicit the songwriter and say he wanted a song like this?
Did the songwriter write this with Adam in mind?
Did the songwriter just write the song and somehow Adam heard of it? Maybe through Idol connections
Now don’t throw tomatoes, just putting this out there:
I know it is a heartrendingly beautiful song, but Adam did not write it. So it may not be quite as personal as we feel it is.
Technically anyone could have bought the song and recorded it, unless it was written especially for him.

I do know he is making it his own, making it personal. I hope to be able to hear it live, I’m not picky it could be anywhere.

One point I want to make is, if people are hearing comments about the “release” lyrics, and feeling the need to defend or explain, just tell them to contact the songwriter and ask what he meant by this part. Grin

  44. glambotgram says:

Love the Meatloaf comments, he is a true fanboy.

  45. milwlovesadam says:

turquoise, I agree. The only other artist who has put out such raw emotion lately is Adele. And I think she may have sold a few CD’s.

I wonder if Adam is aware of the reaction fans are having to Underneath? I agree that it takes courage to put out such raw emotion. And to sing it so perfectly. This is Grammy stuff to me. And not just because I am such a fan. Because it is that good.

I can see how Adele influenced him on this one, and, Prince even. “When Doves cry.”

I’ve said it before, but, those of us who follow him so closely, we know he saw Prince, we know he’s a fan of Adele’s talent, of George Michael, Michael Jackson, all the diva’s, Boy George, Goldfrapp, Bowie. All of them are apparent in the songs and snippets we’ve heard so far. I can’t even imagine what the full CD will be like.

It IS light and dark. It IS an emotional roller-coaster. The only other albums that have affected me like this are Rumours, Tapestry, and Purple Rain. If properly told, this CD could be a play, or a musical, it has a story. This could make an epic tour show. The Monster Ball had a story.

My imagination is on overload again…..

BTW. Let’s all thank Eber for being a poet. Those are some kind of genes he gave Adam. ( Bowing in his direction and clapping).

  46. milwlovesadam says:

OK, so who wrote the melody? Who wrote the lyrics? Was it a collaboration? Was it demo’d one way, then tweaked for/with Adam?

    Inquiring minds need to know?

We know Aftermath was a collab. So was Broken Open. Adam did mainly lyrics on those from what I understand…

I tried to find info on all 4 songwriters of Underneath. Google only showed a twitter account for Josh Kear and a facebook account for Catt Gravitt. No other ways that I could see to contact these people to ask questions except through their production companies.

Trying to stay positive here. Filed for unemployment. Took waaaaay too long. Then, as if I weren’t already bummed about that, I tried to upgrade my Trespassing order via the email I got, and it didn’t work. I’m not going for the big one, just the CD/DVD.

MyPlay is supposed to contact me. We’ll see.

I’m going to try to upgrade my fanclub membership too. I got a free year from last year’s M&G’s , but, they only did the lower level. You would have thought that after shelling out for M&G that they would give you the better membership level. I want the better one. Don’t throw tomatoes at me, I actually like the fansite. AO is a fail for me.

  50. glambotgram says:

From what I can find it was written by the team of Catt Gravitt/Josh Kear/Robert Marvin/Tom Shapiro)
Tom Shapiro has written songs for Carrie , Kelly, Lady Antebellum, Brookes and Dunn and many others.

OK I found a connection Robert Marvin

    Rebel One ‏ @RebelOne_NYC

Big congrats to @robertmarvin @dmarshy @charlesweet @lesleyroyreal @natecampany for Underneath, Running, and Pop That Lock! #Trespassing

And he did one of the BTIKM remixes.

He wrote or produced with Adam on pop that lock and maybe Runnung.
