Adam has apparently wrapped up his US radio promo tour, at least for the moment, as April begins. Above we see Adam as he spent the last several weeks – hard at work with promo. This is (hopefully) finally the last month – for real – before Adam’s new “Trespassing” album will be released. The album is scheduled to drop on May 15. Will we get a second single ahead of the album release date? Will Adam perform on American Idol sometime in the next several weeks? We’ll know soon – in the meantime enjoy the chat!

Dubstep (/ˈdʌbstɛp/) is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London, United Kingdom. Its overall sound has been described as “tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals”.[1]

  2. luval says:

cher …sounds like you might have some closet Adam fans! They just might go with you that second night!

    Will check out that dubstep.

  3. luval says:

Geez I miss Cuckoo! Well, dubstep sounds like electronic music with overwhelming bass & reverberant drum patterns. Smile

It IS just me. Sounds like most other overwhelming bass & reverberant drum patterns. Smile

Nope. I’m gonna book them tickets for Wicked that night. I’ve seen it already but they haven’t. Love that show. Several of us in our group are going to see We Will Rock You before the concert to get us in the Queen spirit!

    Hey Mils

Maybe I should do GA and try to get closer to Adam and “channel” his hawtness to you! Razz

ncoe is #17 on pop i-tunes, I hope it reaches #1

That’s awesome, thanks for the update.

  7. glambotgram says:

luval I think dubstep is dirtier or messier than other electronic music. My son sends it to me to listen to sometimes because he is really into it. Most times I can’t get through the whole song lol. I like the way Adam just “accents” with it.

  8. luval says:

Thanks for the dubstep education! I might have to go to summer school, though.

I wish all of Adam’s twitter followers would spend $1.29 to buy NCOE. Although a person wouldn’t be on itunes if they just illegally download it. Was told this by a teenager… “itunes…are you kidding?” A losing battle.

  9. turquoisewaters says:

UMMMM, some of the lyrics on the extended version of Underneath, “Im standing here with no apologies, such a beautiful release of you inside of me” can anyone comment on that?

Off you go to the corner – or do we now go to the SHADY side.
I had picked up on that too. It’s going to be interesting when Adam gets that question in an interview. For now my problem is that I don’t know how I will explain this to the young ones in the family. They already filtered out the “girl” as well, and I had to fill them in that this may or may not refer to a female. I see lots of teachable moments coming my way. I’ll be going with the innocent interpretation of the “release” and fake indignation if anyone has a different interpretation. At least he could have kept all the saucy parts in one song, to protect the children!! I can’t believe nobody at RCA picked up on this? Adam’s mind is usually reliably in the gutter, he must have noticed.
Oh, and thanks to everyone that bought the GIANT box set to save me from the temptation.

  10. turquoisewaters says:

cher: haha, that friend is a keeper!
mils: I’ll be there with you. I can’t justify London, unless I can borrow cher’s friend and she wants to sponsor me.

  11. luval says:

Just listened to Underneath again. It is underneath my skin.

I think Adam put this song on the album with the thought that it will never be a single. So it doesn’t matter what words he used. IMO.

When I first heard it I immediately thought it meant exactly what he said. You know…..Smile

  12. glambotgram says:

I wish all of Adam’s twitter followers would spend $1.29 to buy NCOE.

Well y’all know how I feel about it, and I bought it, just cause I love that boy!!

  13. sparkle says:

I listened before reading everyone’s comments. ITA with luval although it is vague enough to be open to interpretation.

If you can still hear me, I’m in the corner because my brain, which has a mind of its own, instantly jumped to remembering that Adam likes to be on top … therefore, Sauli would be underneath!

  14. turquoisewaters says:

I think Adam put this song on the album with the thought that it will never be a single.

Good point. It might end up a song I keep for myself, because I couldn’t stand anyone ridiculing it. Really, nothing wrong with it. Women worldwide can relate.

  15. glambotgram says:

Well this is one time that I am clearly out of the corner, get in there the rest of you!

Wait, I have never been out here all by myself.

  16. Kradamour says:

cher, I cannot believe that your husband is actually blind to your many subterfuges lol…I think he knows, smiles to himself, and says something along the lines of “Cher is a force of nature. If I am going to keep her, I need to pretend I am dumb as a rock.” (or something along those lines)
    Laugh Laugh Laugh

  17. Teri63 says:

Just an FYI that Adam is doing a little twitter party right now, answering questions about the album.

  18. Ceddies says:

Kradamour, that’s really good news about your mom. Thanks for keeping us posted. I’m really glad your sister is there to help out and spend time with your mom as well.

luval, re: my fear in the email that I sent you yesterday….After listening to these songs, I believe he has another winner in my book. I loved FYE so much, that I was afraid I might be disappointed with TP. Even the song TP is growing on me (in the final version). I still like Chokehold probably the most of all. Kickin’ In sounds a little dated though IMO.

Underneath has to be one of the most beautiful and haunting songs ever sung. I also noticed the wording that you have been discussing. When I first started listening to it, I almost stopped to put a link to it on my FB page but hesitated for some reason. I’m glad I did because of that bit of lyric. You know, I’m down here in the South where lots of folks would be all over that; and, because it’s Adam, they would really go after it. I usually don’t care what they think, but right now I don’t feel like hassling with them and letting them rob me of my joy. So, like turquoisewaters, I’ll just keep it close to my heart.

  19. Miss Chaos says:

I have hopes for NCOE is at 39 on itunes.

  20. glambotgram says:

LOL loved his last tweet, take that Gaga

Thanks Glamberts! Smile gonna make some dinner now. #popstarsgottaeat

  21. Kradamour says:

I lol’d glambotgram! Wonder if it was a conscious remark or only based on his dinnertime?

  22. luval says:

    I’m up too late!

Yay, Ceddies! Glad you’re turning around a little.

    I knew it:
    dam Lambert ‏ @adamlambert

“@iDanLadd: @adamlambert What was the toughest song to record? #Trespassing” Underneath is a beast.

eta: bet he’ll never sing it live Frown

  23. glambotgram says:

I lol’d glambotgram! Wonder if it was a conscious remark or only based on his dinnertime?

Oh I am sure it was conscious.

  24. Ceddies says:

Last night several of you mentioned something going on with Adam in Wilkes-Barre and that you might try to go. That brought a smile to my face because Wilkes-Barre is the city that I spent the night on my way home from Ste. Agathe—just a few hours after Kradamour and Adamized took their exit ramp and we parted ways.

ETA: I thought “that’s not too far, I could do that too”, but when I looked it up, it’s about 12-13 hours. Don’t think I’m up for that right now.

  25. nkd says:

    The lyric in Underneath:
My interpretation of that lyric in question is that we or that one person, is seeing him opened up and underneath the mask. Standing with no apologies, a release to be himself while you’re inside looking underneath. Intimate, but not sexual.

This from the queen of the corner!

I loved his interpretation of NCOE. Makes me look at the song through Adam’s eyes and love it more.

    Adam Lambert ‏ @adamlambert
@ShadowGlambert to me, NCOE is about all of US. A community. A movement.

  26. glambotgram says:

I have been thinking about Wilkes Barre too. My birthday would be on that Monday. 8 hours from here. My family would think I am nuts. Lol

  27. Miss Chaos says:

I love the conversation about the little ditty in Underneath, but as we figured out, it was written by a country person. Did he write that with Adam in mind, or if it was already written, I doubt if it means what we all think it means, OR,Adam added in there. But most people dont listen to lyrics like we do, because we are trying to hear everything Adam is saying. So I think it will pass over most peoples minds. But crap, what about RYRY singing about are you big enough or some sort of crap.

  28. nkd says:

    Rihanna is singing about that!

Not that it didn’t cross Adam’s mind! I’m sure it did, but I really don’t think that’s the intent of the lyric.

  29. Ceddies says:

But most people dont listen to lyrics like we do, because we are trying to hear everything Adam is saying.

Or, if they’re not listening closely, they will ONLY hear those words and get the wrong idea.

Regardless, it is a masterpiece. And, sad to say, you’re right; we probably won’t hear it live.

  30. bridgette12 says:

eta: bet he’ll never sing it live

I’m sure it was a tough song to record, especially if you had to sing it day after day until it was perfect. But I’m sure it’s going to be part of the tour, the same way Soaked was.

  31. Ceddies says:

Don’t know if this was posted earlier. If so, I missed it. It’s the Glamberts in the Office with samples from Trespassing.

One at a time, one at a time.

  32. riskylady says:

    Some thoughts about Underneath:
I too pondered they lyrics, but then….
    a) Unless the country guy is gay (and out, which I doubt) don’t think he would write anything sexually literal…
    b) If it were a straight man singing this, what would we think?
    c) Given the very spiritual context of the song’s lyrics taken as a whole from beginning to end, I think the interpretation would be spiritual as glambotgram mentioned, even metaphysical. When you strip away the flesh and bone, only the soul is left.
To me, it means that someone releases themself to him after seeing “things you may not want to see” and “depths of my sins” in spite of no apologies.
Even if it were a physical release, not all sex is sexy – it can be very spiritual too at times. But, lots of people might interpret it as sexual.
That said, I think it would be very difficult to perform to an audience for the same reasons I think he seldom performed Broken Open: Just too personal and intimate. It will be interesting to see if he does.
    ETA: Or, what nkd said.

  33. nkd says:

riskylady, I like your version better! Much more in depth.
Yes, spiritual, metaphysical, stripping away everything and seeing the true being.

I really need to see/hear him perform this live. Pray

  34. ultimathule says:

As I posted 6 or 7 hours ago, I can’t see this song being sung in a large venue – it’s just too intimate and heart-rending. And, as I said, for me, I couldn’t stand any of the usual yapping that goes on no matter what the performance is. If he never performs it live, that’s fine with me. I have this perfect jewel of a performance that I can return to. I’m usually against people who don’t want certain performances reinterpreted, but here I can understand it. It pains me even to think about it.

  35. Kradamour says:

WOOOT! Just filed my taxes, with minutes left to go! And this even though I took time out for the twitter party!

  36. Kradamour says:

ultimathule, I loved your post. I’m actually sorry that the one after it (mine) was about something so banal as taxes.

I hope that Adam knows how deeply we are feeling Underneath.
And I really hope never to hear it in a concert hall.

  37. Miss Chaos says:

Anything good on the twitter party????

  38. Kradamour says:

Miss Chaos, he wanted to answer questions about the CD and pretty much kept it to that. Interesting, of course, because the object of our addiction affection is always fascinating!

Okay, taxes, trespassing, and tweets have plumb wore me out.
    G’nite, peeps!
    Sweet Adam dreams!

I understand and respect everyone’s feelings about Underneath and his performing it live, and he may not ever, but as an artist he included it in this work for a reason. I think it could be so powerful. I love being touched so deeply by a piece of music(art) that it brings me to shivers and tears. It connects, and that’s what he’s doing with this album.
Although much of the album connects to the ass and makes it shake!

Adam got his first radio add for NCOE, in Wilkes Barre, I don’t think its even gone to radio yet, so hopefully this is a good sign.

  47. cgesq says:

I am thrilled about the May 25th Wilkes Barre concert. That is only about 2+ hours from my house….very do-able!! Since I can’t manage the Queen performances, this seems to be a great consolation prize. I don’t relish the presale nonsense (had more than enough stress over this during GN) but there doesn’t seem to be another way. I can’t wait to hear him perform the new album.
I hope to reconnect with lots of my Adam friends during this show, or on the upcoming tour. YAY!!!!!

  48. mieps says:

For those worried about tickets not arriving in time… I put in an address change this morning, to have it delivered to my sister’s house. I just received an e-mail back that they can’t dispatch to an address not connected to the credit card, but they can hold the tickets at the venue. So now I’ll get them at the door.

  49. Oksana2000 says:

Are queen concerts already sold out? I did “dry run” this morning and got familiar message from Ticketmaster “try again”

  50. rs says:

I am listening to the Underneath snippet as I write this. It gets to me every time, so heart wrenching, gorgeous, and emotional, I really don’t have words to describe it. I thought that nothing could top Trespassing and then Shady came along, and Broken English, and…and….and…But back to Underneath. It is hard for me to think that he didn’t write it himself, it is so personal, and brilliantly complex in that it can be taken on so many different levels, depending on your mood or situation at the time you are listening to it. I have as dirty a mind as anyone else here, but when I first listened to the lyrics I was only thinking of the feeling of relief and release that you have when the walls come down and you let people see you for who you really are. I think I was relating it to Broken Open and Aftermath, and being a psychologist (recently retired and missing it) I guess my thoughts went in that direction. (BTW when I had my M&G with Adam, I talked to him about how he is a natural therapist to everybody he sings to.)

But in a different mood, Underneath could totally be about getting it on. Whatever the interpretation, the song is about honesty and intimacy and it is incredibly beautiful.

About singing it in concert, I understand that some people don’t want the song ruined by people talking in the audience, but as of now we only have (or will have) a recording. I NEED TO SEE HIM SING THIS SONG! I need to see his face while he sings it. So if not in concert, then at a radio show or VH1, or MTV, or a video, I don’t care, but I want to see him sing it; his face, his expressions, his body, his gestures. Of course I don’t know if I will survive the experience, but that is another matter…..
