luval: I singled her out because I saw her on AI the other day and I made the mistake of checking out one of her videos. Cheap, vulgar, sad portrayal of women. I really don’t know much about her, and I sure hope there is more to her than what she is presenting. But still the thought of preteens/teens growing up watching this concerns me. End of rant.

Like you, my husband and I are trying to make 4 jigsaw puzzle pieces fit together – the London Queen concert, a family trip to Europe, a guided bike tour in the Alps for my husband, and our daughter’s college freshman orientation back here in Oregon. Oy! The good news is that we haven’t booked anything yet so we’re still flexible, but it’s a lot to fit together and the revised concert dates have us wiggling around like crazy to make it all work with the other things that have hard and fast dates.

Hey guys, the other day I lamented about how awful Niki Minaj was on the Today show, on a religious holiday no less, in the morning hours with so much booobage and ass, and vulgar dance moves and lyrics. UGH.
And her album just topped Adele’s.
I do not get it.
On a happier note, I just went to MJ’s ( I know, I can’t help myself ) and listened to the full songs for Glee next week. It’s Saturday Night Fever. It should be a hoot.
And, because I can’t help myself, while listening to If I can’t Have You, all I could think was, “I’m not in a pool of Abdul.”

mils, maybe it’s more to do with where Adele’s album is in its “life cycle” than anything to do with Minaj. My thoughts on Minaj are that she’s only unique when she’s rapping; her singing is pretty average to me.

Okay, just for the record, imma say that I really love Nicki Minaj. Girl has balls. Boobage? yup, and she makes no excuses for it, she puts it out there and she’s proud. Nothing slutty, as far as I am concerned. Outrageous lyrics? Yup, and makes no apologies. A female rapper who has cred and respect? Yup, and she earned it.
I love fierce Nicki.
I have only seen one television show this year, but it was Nicki Minaj with a little girl on some talk show who loves her to death and has her song DOWN cold and her mom put it on youtube. Nicki was so sweet to her, the little girl was screaming and crying when she met her, and Nicki picked her up and cuddled her and cried with her and told her she loved her back.
Okay, that’s all. No one has to share my opinion, but wanted to put it out there.
Now back to our regularly scheduled flailing!

I really don’t have a favorite this year so watching isn’t as much fun. Well it really hasn’t been much fun since season 8. Seasons 5 and 8 were my favorites. There was this tall, beautiful young man,with these unbelievable vocals that was on season 8. Anyone remember?

Speaking of minds open and closed…I had a conversation with a dear, dear friend today – friends since we were 12 years old – and somehow she pulled out the “gays are cursed in the bible” issue. Huh? What were we even talking about that made you say that? And … where did it come from??? You never used to believe that!!! She joined a new church and seems to have drunk the kool-aid. It made me so sad. This is a smart, educated woman who has traveled extensively, lived in many countries…I was so taken aback that I didn’t know what to say, so I didn’t say anything. I regret that. But I think I need to choose my words carefully, so it is best that I didn’t reply immediately (we were on skype, and that can be tricky, too).
But I can’t let this pass without saying what I think and feel. I am her oldest friend (and she mine), so perhaps my viewpoint will make a difference. (shakes head) Gotta try.

That Nicki Minaj/Sophia video was really sweet, but Sophia totally owned Nicki, she didn’t seem to be able to keep up with the words at all. That girl is definitely going to be on the stage when she’s older.
I didn’t realise all those radio concerts were so close together, how far away from each other are they? Hows he going to fit Idol in on May 17th (supposedly)?
HK fan… That Idol show should work out. His cluster of shows starts on the 19th so he’ll have time to fly from LA to the east coast.
Looking at the schedule above that nkd posted, it seems that fitting an AI performance in on May 17 is going to be a mighty tight squeeze. He is scheduled to be in Chicago on May 18. Although I’m sure it is do-able for Adam, maybe this is why we haven’t heard anything definite, yet. Has anyone thought about the possibility of May 10 for an AI appearance, a few days prior to his album release? Seemingly, that day would be better schedule-wise. May 17 would probably be better for an album boost, though.
HKFan the flight from LA to Chicago is only 4 hours, that is easily doable, and Chicago to Maine a little over 2 hours, the rest are probably quicker to go by Limo than to fly.
