At this point this whole blog has pretty much morphed into a collective brain, individual members bringing up competing/supplementary voices inside said brain. At least to me it sometimes feels like that.
YAY!!!! NCOE…Good choice! Now radio has to play it! How do we get that to happen? When will we hear the radio version?

Yay!!! I’m so relieved – like some others here, it’s not my favorite of the songs I’ve heard, but I like it alot and I think it should definitely be the next single. Hope it paves the way for a third release, and my choice for that would be Cuckoo!! The cover art is smokin’ hot – love the glasses, love the hot man wearing them, and love Lee Cherry!
(I hope Adam’s not disappointed with this choice. You could just sense the pride he had in co-writing Trespassing with Pharrell.

Yes, but Adam is a professional and has made plain that he wants to provide what his [expanded] audience wants. I doubt that the selection could have been made over Adam’s veto. One more step toward what he truly wants to do – but first he needs an audience.
Okay, LOVE the cover art and that it plays into the Trespassing art. I don’t love the song but I’m totally willing to hear the studio version. Whether I love it or not, fingers crossed that it is huge!

THis was/is the best way to go! Song is great acoustically and will feel more uptempo studio version. Radio likes it and that means something BIG!!! He can put his sophomore album on a broader map with this. And the Bruno Mars name just enhances the concept. I was hoping for this. It’s just a bit too soon for Trespassing and Cuckoo—alone.
Just arrived home from work, and I’m so incredibly happy to receive this awesome news! I have been rooting for NCOE from Day 1 as the second single. In my “eyes” there really was no competition. I feel both in my heart and mind that this song will be big. Adam and his peeps are very smart.
The funny thing is that, in my opinion, Bruno Mars is Adam’s biggest male competition right now in the music industry. Grammy Award anyone??? Put these two guys together — YIKES (in a very good way)!!!
This comment made me just a tad bit sad. To me, it shows how important radio play is to Adam. This also happens to be the part of Adam’s career that he has had such a struggle with. It seems to be his main focus at this point. Even though we say (and know) that he can earn a very good living performing/touring, he wants that pop star status. He wants to be heard on the radio along with all the other pop greats — Adele, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, etc.
Adam’s tweet made me a bit sad also. Maybe because it wasn’t in capital letters and didn’t have at least a half dozen exclamation points.
Now the test. Itunes. Radio play. Adam just has to be a nervous wreck. If he’s not, I am for him!
Hey, that’s his dream and he has to go for it!. We know and, more importantly, HE knows he’s got the talent, the looks,the charisma to be that pop star…but if he can’t prove it…
I know he’s always said he wanted Idol as a platform and he got that and he’s come so far, so far and he wants to make it to the real finish line. Go for it, babe.

I’d like to register an opinion in our collective consciousness .
I like NCOE. I listen to the Bing and MyStage versions over and over. I know it’s not the album or radio ready version.
I think it is beautiful, and catchy, and just the right song for him right now.
I like that radio has given him positive feedback for SOMETHING.
I don’t think it really matters about the Bruno connection. I remember Adam didn’t want Fever to be released because he didn’t want to ride on Gaga’s coattails. I’m not so sure it was about the pronoun “he.” Bruno is an amazing artist, writer and performer. The fact that he “gave” one of his songs to Adam speaks volumes about his respect for Adam.
To me, the connection is a good thing as Adam has been out of the American public eye for two years now. Those of us in his “bubble” know waaay too much.
And, hey, Bruno could have given that song to anybody. Buble anybody? ( Sorry, I just threw up in my mouth a little. I can’t stand him.)
Unfortunately it remains to be seen whether or not radio will play the song. Hopefully they made the right deals. Another thing that makes no sense to me, deal making. I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with all this. It would drive me crazy!

I’m sorry you’re sad, Miss Chaos. It’s such a tough decision – there’s so much that even we – the all-knowing fans that we are
– don’t know about. Like I said, it’s not my fave, but I feel really good about this decision. Radio play is just a totally different animal, unfortunately. Radio play moves CD’s and downloads which, in turn, support the tour. With a tour, we’ll all get to celebrate the songs that WE knew were better; we just used “the pablum” to get there!
One thing I would just point out: The YouTube snippet is a cutoff version of the official snippet, and of course the acoustic version is consistently guitar-backed all through.

Notice that the first verse and bridge are sung with just a musical backing, and the DANCE beat kicks in at about :45. I really love this version and I’m hoping that the single/album version is like this, because the first part really shows off his voice.
Also, remember Shoshanna or someone said there is a surprise towards the end, so I’m thinking a nice high wail or riff.
Can.Not.Wait! I love the melody, and the comments on all the YouTubes have been 99% positive. And, Adam seemed to really love belting the shit out of this song – whatever he does on Idol will be fab.
Also, as cwm said earlier, opens the door for a nice summer single of either Trespassing or Cuckoo or some other party song.

I think that we don’t want Adam to compromise, and that is pretty obviously what this is.
But…Adam has his eyes on the prize. On the time when he won’t have to compromise. When he can put out whatever the f*ck he wants, and peeps will “get” it and grab it.
I’m not a Bruno fan, but he knows how to churn out the hits, and that is what Adam needs. So…bring on the Bruno.

Another thing, agreeing with riskylady, is that he really seemed to enjoy himself singing NCOE. Just look at his face, smiles, smirks, body language, he just totally enjoyed singing it at both Bing and MySpace versions. He truly hasn’t looked that happy, even joyous during that whole promo month. And this was at the end, when he was exhausted. That beaming countenance makes me feel happy too.

I think the the lyrics are very top 40…the kids are loving the stuff that talks about an uncertain future, take advantage of the moment, etc. etc. there are several of them now.
For me, that is too juvenile/facile for Adam, but it does sell and it does dominate the radio.
And I def want him to have a radio hit.

I’m happy, I love this song and have since I first heard it. I love the lyrics and the beat. and we have to remember that this is a ‘dance’ track, not the acoustic version we’ve heard.
I really like Bruno Mars and think that the link can only help Adam, but to the majority of people would they even know there is a Bruno Mars link. I couldn’t tell you who wrote any of the songs I listen to, or have ever listened too.
I hope they’re all ready working on a video, I don’t think the gap between the release of the single and the video should be as big this time.
Keeping everything crossed that the radio finally play him. I love BTIKM, and I’m certain it would have done better if people had only had a chnace to hear it.
Thanks for all your support guys, (I need it, I tend to go off the deep end when something doesnt go my way) I will settle down, but last time I looked at MJs they are already saying what I am thinking. He caved to Bruno. Well what the hell, we just want him to be happy and popular like the damn ladies on the radio and everywhere else. Well get our fierce Adam during Queen and Tour. I hope he just doesnt sing the damn song on AI all sweet like, I love hard hitting Adam. Radio just BETTER play the song or Else I will be very pissed, I still think Trespassing is the song to go with, I am so sad about that!
Although I totally respect the rights of others to disagree with me and not favor or even like NCOE, I don’t think we should so quick to call NCOE a “compromise.” I happen to be a fan of Bruno – I think he has a great voice and is a terrific songwriter. In fact, after Adam, he’s my favorite male recording artist. I hope someday Adam has Bruno-level success.
I think NCOE is a well-crafted song with a great melody and instrumentation, sung extremely well. I really like the studio snippet and can’t wait to hear the full studio version. I think a lot of people will really love it. No, Adam didn’t write it and it’s not as edgy or different as Trespassing or Cuckoo, but from what he has said about it and watching him perform it, I do believe that Adam really loves this song and so do I.
I think the mistake that was made (if there was one) was that there was so much time elapsed between putting out the snippets and making the decision that fans had too much time to angst, take sides, and solidify their positions. A week between snippets and decision would have been better.
Miss Chaos – I appreciate your feelings, but don’t despair! I think Trespassing will have its moment in the sun – it’s just too soon right now. He needs to warm up the radio PDs and audience with NCOE first!
I also don’t give a rip what the skeptics are saying on MJs about “caving.” I acknowledge that those feelings are out there – among both fans and non-fans. But those of us hardcore Adam fans or idol bubblettes who have been tracking this decision are a miniscule proportion of the mainstream radio audience and that is who Adam is trying to reach.

Okay, so here is an uplifting story (and I NEVER have Adam stories! I live in an Adam desert…)
A dear friend and I went out for lunch. Out of the blue she asked “Do you still follow Adam Lambert?”. Duh. So she said she had heard that he did something or other with Queen, and she is a huge Queen fan. Said if he ever did another performance with Queen she would go with me.
I picked my jaw up out of the soup and asked if she had seen the EMA performance? No, never heard of it. Just knew he had done something or other with Queen. Had I actually seen the performance? Could I send her a link? Duh.
So there you go! The first person I have ever known here who has said boo about Adam since Idol when a couple of people I know liked Mad World.
Eyes baby eyes.Steps baby steps…I personally wouldn’t call it caving to Bruno, just taking radio into consideration. Mind you I hate that radio – which I haven’t listened to in ages – is so important. But that seems to be a fact of the business. I just really hope they made the right call and that Trespassing will have its chance at a later time. I guess we’ll all be smarter in 2-3 weeks. At least most people seem to like NCOE better than BTIKM, the question is just how much better. I admit that I am nervous right now. Mrs Chaos, nothing wrong with your opinion or stating it. Let’s all hope it will work out for the best.

Anyone watching Idol? Geez…these kids are just ok. There has not been one SHOWMAN since season 8! Voices are just all right. But where is the rest of the package? Move around the stage, people! Rock out, people! Give us a show, people! And IMO The Voice is just the same.
Just got an e-mail from my conservative sister. I sent her NCOE from MyStage and she LOVES IT!!!! Was waiting to hear her opinion and I’m very happy. I gifted her an ipod shuffle last Christmas & she has several Adam songs. But like many people doesn’t use itunes or any paying music download situation. So I’ll be gifting her the CD. Honestly no one I know has itunes. They just download illegally.
Well, I’m on the “no-cave” team, too. He has said for some time now that he’s a fan of Bruno’s, and even went to Bruno’s concert, remember? He likes his songs, said in an interview that “It Will Rain” is romantic. He likes Gaga and Pink too, so what’s wrong with singing the songs they gave him? Oh, and Muse too – Soaked, Starlight….I know Bruno has written for many, but Pink, Gaga and Muse to my knowledge don’t give many songs out.
I don’t think he’s sad – he got to take a year, do music he loves, cowrite most of it, got the label to put his cowrites on the album, got to exec produce, head up the art stuff, and will sing with Queen.
He might have some worries, but he’s got a BUNCH of performances lined up: Idol, 5 radio concerts, 4 Queen gigs, and Japan….and don’t forget int’l album promo too.
I think he’ll make some good money this year. And we’ll get loads of goodies to watch/hear!
All I want is world domination. If NCOE gives it to him – in the immortal words of Sauli – Yah!
