Adam-LunchLA
Having wrapped up the overseas “We Are Glamily” tour, Adam and Glamily are back in LA for some well-deserved rest. Later this month, Adam will be in Miami Beach to headline their Gay Pride event. It seems to be the first of his “a-concert-a-month” series while he works on new music. Above we see Adam enjoying his downtime lunching with Sutan. Photo from Just Jared.
Enjoy the chat!

Like Josiah Hawley on The Voice – sang Levine’s “Sunday Morning” – very nice and 6’1″ and 11.5 shoe. He didn’t pick Levine, but Usher – some wondering why. Levine looked a little annoyed at this performance since Josiah was tall, handsome, great smile (very important), personable, and talented. Felt like posting – “probably better than the original.” lol

    ultimathule…. I totally agree!
I was so happy that he selected Usher to be his coach — great choice. I sensed a huge attitude thing from Adam Levine — not good. No

  11. nkd says:

Isn’t that Brett Nelson the guy that was with Adam at Fashion Week in September-ish?

ETA YES! It appears he saves all of his style tips for his clients, if he has any!

It’s so quite tonight is everyone watching The Voice. I thought the talent was pretty good tonight. Not too keen on Idol this year. No one has really got me interested yet. Maybe it’ll be a year like season 6 where I never did have a favorite. Maybe Adam really did break the show. No not really as I liked Crystal Bowersox in season 9 and really liked her first CD. She has a new one just out but haven’t checked it out yet. I guess we’ll just have to twiddle our thumbs till Adam does something newsworthy. It usually doesn’t take much to entertain me, so Adam do or tweet something, I’m bored. Yawn

  13. ultimathule says:

Think Warren Stone did a beautiful, heartfelt performance of “Colder Weather” on The Voice tonight. Not a big country fan, but would buy this man’s album.

I saw half an episode of the voice yesterday, saw that Judith Hill audition….why would someone who has sung with MJ and sung at his funeral want to go on the voice….
The voice seems all about the judges (Ushers cute), and nearly all the contestants seem like pros, lots already have recording contracts….It takes the fun out of it a bit, some of them are obviously plants.

  19. luval says:

    Love the picture up top!

Many background singers show up on the voice because they don’t want to be in the backups anymore. Same with Idol rejects showing up there. The Voice to me is like the last gasp for these people in the rough world of the music biz. They pretty much have ok voices but nowhere else to go with them. Unfortunately to me they don’t have the “it” factor. Even that girl from MJ’s tour. IMO, of course.

And yup, all about the judges there. More so than Idol I think. Oh well, I’ll probably keep watching it and DAncing with the Stars. There were dances last night to Another One Bites the Dust and Stay.

  20. TLKC says:

I have been following Brett Nelson since last Fall’s fashion week. I tweeted him at the time and he tweeted me back. (I am a sucker for anyone who tweets me back.) He was asked a lot of questions by Glamberts and confirmed that he was a stylist and that he and Adam go way back. It would be nice to think that he was styling Adam but I think, based on his clothes, that it was personal, not business.

Another person who tweeted me back was the girl who posted a keek of the girl getting the passing car pic with Adam. I am moving up in the world. Grin

  21. TLKC says:

I happened upon a re-run episode of The Voice over the weekend and saw a duet in red dresses singing something forgettable. What held me was Usher, who was delightful, mouthing the words to the song while his back was to the girls. It wasn’t enough to keep me watching the show beyond the end of the song but he has oodles of charm and you can see it.

I am not enough into Idol to say (just going through MJ’s morning after recaps) but there doesn’t seem to be a charmer in sight on that judging panel. Keith is cute – not the same thing. Nikki has character but her Fran Dresher voice undercuts her appeal. The other two are completely dispensable. Based on ratings, Idol’s downward slide is accelerating. A judging stint is still a prize but not the opportunity it once was.

I am not a reality show fan. I am an Adam fan. If The Voice makes a bigger deal out of the judges, maybe Adam would be better there. Adam Levine was just interviewed on Ellen and he is going on tour. A lot of people mix up them up anyway. The Voice should replace Adam with Adam. A popular Idol contestant on The Voice judging panel would shift another slice of the Idol audience pie over to them.

TLKC, I don’t believe that our Adam would ever agree to be a mentor on The Voice as long as it is seen as in competition with Americal Idol. Adam is very loyal to Idol and to the fact that it was the launching pad for his career as a pop star. Now, if Idol went off the air, he would be an awesome mentor, no question about it.

  25. Calgary says:

nkd That looks like a Zodiac Show shot. There are lots of Zodiac videos on YouTube.

  26. HK fan says:

    From a poster at mjs’

Sounds like Adam will be doing a commercial with AT&T to support the Trevor Project:

    http://www.prweb.com/releases/

“MIHP [Make It Happen Productions] is privileged to be partnering with Los Angeles based 360 Agency to produce a commercial and public service announcement. AT&T and ‘American Idol’ season eight break-out-star Adam Lambert have joined forces for this project to support the Trevor Project

I think if Adam was going to be a singing show judge, I’d rather it was on the Voice than Idol. Not that I watch the Voice, but from what I read their judges are much better received by the general public.

  27. apal123 says:

    HK fan,

I think that the singing shows are not long for this world. I think there is reality TV fatigue and that people are just tiring of the format. I just read an article that the highest rated shows for Sunday night were The Walking Dead, The BIble, and Game of Thrones in that order. None are on network TV. I think that points to the fact that character driven stories are what people are showing an interest in.

I think adam would be wonderful on a variety show but maybe he should be looking at the cable market where they seem to have more imagination in their programming. Just a thought.

  28. Calgary says:

I think I like The Voice better, because it’s got an obvious strategy that supersedes just finding the best voice. We all know that the judges pick some contestants so that they can throw them under the bus as the series proceeds. And that there is a contest among the judges as much as there is among the contestants. On AI, we suspect that manipulation is happening but it is never acknowledged in any way. I also like the judges better on The Voice. I’m beginning to think that Mariah sold her personality to the devil so she could be one of the most successful singers of modern times.

I figure that although I am mostly a lurker, that I should do my part commenting, at least during these slow times, since I find myself disappointed when there are only 20 or so comments to read each day! So although not really Adam related other than the possibility he might judge on one of these shows one day, I thought I could comment on the judges of Idol vs Voice like some others of you have. (Next comment)

  32. rs says:

The Voice makes for better television, but they have yet to produce a singer with a successful career, as Idol has. I have just been watching Idol since season 6 but there is a huge change in the way that the contestants are presented since I have been watching it. You used to get to know them through glimpses of their life at the mansion, activities during the week, etc. Even the Ford commercials. We know nothing about these contestants personalities except what we see on stage and the short bit with Jimmy and the mentor. And personalities certainly haven’t been shining through this year. So all the shows are becoming about the judges, or mentors, or whatever they want to call them. They have become the stars of the shows. It is too bad.

  33. Soccermom says:

The main reason I enjoy The Voice is because of the judges and their competition, with a few of the contestants also being enjoyable. I am very glad that Christina is gone as much as I respect her as a vocalist, mostly because I was tired of seeing 90% of her “girls” all the time. But also because of the petty stuff she would engage in with Adam and even some of the contestants. I am LOVING Shakira as a judge and do not even know her music or much about her. Other than his clearly sexy charm and cuteness, the jury is still out on Usher, but he is at least faking earnestness pretty well so far. The blind auditions are the best part of The Voice however. I do not usually enjoy the battle rounds and take a break or just watch recap videos on the “other” site until they get to the top 5 or 6. I agree with the prior poster (forget who and don’t want to go look) that said that they thought it would be better for Adam to be a judge on The Voice, careerwise, rather than going down with the ship on Idol. But I don’t think he would do it? He seems like a very loyal guy, so if he did one of the two shows, I think it would be Idol. Plus I am not sure I see him doing the team competitive stuff like Adam and Blake do and Shakira and Usher are learning to do. Nor do I see him being an Idol Producer mouthpiece either.

  34. Soccermom says:

rs, I see now that you posted the same thing that I did about Adam and his loyalty to Idol. For the same reason, I don’t think he would do X-Factor. But I think he might be OK with The Sing-Off? Not really direct competition and he has the vocal training to give a good critique, etc. I am really excited that The Singoff will be back near Christmas time. Of course, Kelly was willing to be on The Voice as a mentor and she is pretty loyal to Idol too I think, so maybe Adam could do that. Wouldn’t it be cool if the two Adams mentored Adam Levine’s team? Haha!

  35. Soccermom says:

apal123, I agree with your comment about reality TV fatigue too, although I personally am not yet ready to give the singing and dance ones up (the rest can go though, particularly the Bachelor/ette). Maybe if there were other musical variety shows on TV like Ed Sullivan, Sonny and Cher,Osmonds, and others – even Carol Burnett – I could get my music/dance appreciation elsewhere. But otherwise all I have is award shows and maybe one guest on a late night show or Kelly and Michael. And I can’t stand to watch Kelly and Michael anymore.

  36. Soccermom says:

But you (apal123) are also correct about character driven stories rising in popularity – look at Downton Abbey.

  37. Calgary says:

Soccermom I have often thought Adam could do a variety song/comedy show along the lines of Sonny and Cher!

  38. Soccermom says:

With Mariah on Idol, I expected the Diva thing and do not mind it because I think she earned it. But then, I enjoy the royalty concept too. The tension between Mariah and Nicki is distracting though and is turning off LOTS of viewers, even those that initially thought Nicki might be fun (and now would like her to leave because she is so rude to Mariah or the contestants). But the most diappointing thing about Mariah is that I thought she would be the one to give the vocal training type technical critiques that Jlo, Steven and Randy were just not capable of last year and god knows that Nicki can’t either. But instead, those critiques when they happen, are coming from Keith! Mariah is more of the warm fuzzy maternal type that is trying to offset whatever bad stuff Nicki says… I too used to think Nicki might be fun because she was a random variable – something unexpected – like Dave Cook and Adam were. But now I realize she is just predictably irritating and rude or praising someone that does not deserve it at all. Simon could be rude at times, particularly about body shape or styling, but mostly he just said what everyone else was thinking. Nicky does that sometimes, but most of the time she says stuff that doesn’t follow.

  39. Soccermom says:

Calgary – Adam would be excellent as a leader of variety show. OR a talk show like Ellen’s. It would also be fun to watch a reality show of his life in the business and with Sauli, although like with Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, it would probably destroy their relationship. And I don’t know how I would explain to my hubby why I was watching the life of a gay couple. He has a hard enough time when he sees me watching an HGTV show with a gay couple shopping for a house or remodeling it. Sonny and Cher was a duo where one was the better singer and the other was more the comedian. If Adam were in a duo, who could it be? OR maybe it could be Adam and Sauli! He might be comic enough and he could do cooking/lifestyle and fashion segments.

  40. Calgary says:

Okay, barely related but – KISS on local radio singing “I Wanna Rock and Roll” (but no Adam) cause they are coming to Calgary in July for the Calgary Stampede. Which makes me think of the outfit Adam wore with them – and I just saw those shoulder things in their inception on Ty Taylor in the 2009 Zodiac show on YT last night.

  41. Soccermom says:

OK – have post hoed enough for one day I think! One last comment – I watched Michael Slezak’s interview of Paul Jolley today. Very good as always and so was most recent Idology with Melinda Dolittle (love her). Paul came very close to revealing that Producers override song choices made by contestants. The show he sang Amazed (which I thought he did well but it has been so many times before and suffered from that stigma), he was planning and totally prepared to do Living on a Prayer (Bon Jovi). But he essentially said he was not allowed to do it. And people have speculated it could not have been clearance of the song, since Bon Jovi was the guest the next night on results night. Unless Bon Jovi didn’t want the comparisons or something. Personally, I think it was Producer sabotage of a guy that might possibly get enough votes at some point to threaten one of the girls. The boy had a great voice, but he did need work on his performance skills. Hated that they described him as theatrical too, which seems to be code for gay. Hey Adam was definitely theatrical, but for him, it was in the traditional meaning (and maybe also to be a code word for gay by Idol judges?). Paul is not theatrical like that, he just does too many facial mugging things when he sings that he needs to learn to change. Anyone remember the terrible faces that Clay Aiken used to make when he sang and then Simon critiqued him on it (and maybe even mentored him on it – who knows) and then Clay fixed the facial tic kind of things he used to do. This as much as the styling and gaining a little weight during the season were the reason he ended up looking like a whole different person at the end of the season than he did at the beginning.

With not a great deal of Adam news to discuss currently, I’m curious what music folks here like to listen to other than Adam, or maybe “B.A.” lol. For myself, I enjoy mostly classic alternative (Depeche Mode, Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen etc), EDM current and past (I was an intermittent club kid in the early-mid 90s before I grew up lol), 80s pop, and some classic rock. My favorite non-Adam album of all time would probably be “Violator” (Depeche Mode). What about you guys?

Thinking of a new top 10 or top 15 list to be constructed over the next couple of months. Maybe Adams best concerts (as opposed to individual songs) of all time.
