Suz526…which airport?
rainbowgal, actually I was the family geek for several years before turning over the title to my son. I still keep up with what hardware is available (FLOVE my logitech squeezebox!) and most of the software, but I speak French fluently and can read enough of a few other languages that I haven’t needed to use a translation program – and until google, they were pretty worthless.
The iPod, on the other hand…THAT was a challenge that Adam set before me! and I learned (sort of) to use it. I don’t like it, though. I just listen to my music and playlists through the squeezebox.
Montreal has two airports. Use the St. Hubert (code YHU) not Trudeau (code YUL) – but a great price to YUL would make the extra 30 miles worthwhile.ETA: see AL‘s correction post on next page
So getting a car is the only option it seems. . . anyone else doing that?
YUL . . .
Suz526…we are planning on renting a car/van or maybe we need a bus! Details need to be worked out. Contact cher.
Hi All,
I was “THIS” close to going along but not to be… Family did some research and cab fare from YUL would be very expensive, over $425, so yes, a car, van, or bus is going to be your best bet!
New here as of today…thanks Suz for the heads up!
So excited for all of you and looking forward to keeping in the know through your new thread!
Y’know, I don’t think the peeps at Ste Agathe are expecting attendees to come through the airport (see my post above about the news article). They are doing satellite parking and shuttles into town. In other articles I saw that they were expecting primarily local (province of Quebec) attendees, no need for airport.
Hmmm…tchrsd…”teacher said”? Love it!
Welcome!
Hi tchrsd! Another teacher?
Do you send peeps to the corner?
Welcome!
Sunday evening site update:
Thanks to the great efforts of Suz526 and Adamland, we now have recaps with HD videos for Wango Tango 2010 (5/15/10), as well as the L.A. Music Box GNT show (12/15/10). Wango Tango is found under the “Non-Tour Gigs” drop-down menu up top, while Music Box is found under “Glam Nation Tour”, then “GNT Shows – Dec 2010”.
I have also posted a recap with HD videos for the opening show of the GNT in Wilkes-Barre, PA (6/4/10). Look under “GNT Shows – June 2010” in the drop-down menu.
We’ll continue to gradually post additional recaps during the next several weeks. All of these recaps will be accessed through the drop-down menus at the top of the page.
I love the link to the mjs chat for the concerts! When you were talking about “recaps”, I thought it would be to just choose one or two of the “formal” recaps. This is much better! Love to be able to re-live and enjoy the little comments and posts about the twitter feeds…
Guys, this site is just about as wonderful as I could ever imagine. So, so grateful for this labor of love. Mwah!
The sd is really for San Diego but yes, what the teacher “says” goes!
I can tell you all are gonna be a kick to chat with!
Yep, I know lots of teachers who LOVE Adam! The “Take A Break” chair is in the corner for sure.
What do you teach, tchrsd?
Elementary school, 3rd grade, but it always changes year to year. Keeps me on my toes!
I’d love to teach elementary. No French here tho until middle school.
G’nite, peeps! Sweet Adam dreams as we countdown to Moscow!
Hi tchrsd!!!!!
So glad you’re here!!! These are the bestest peeps ever here!!!
nkd – LOL!!!! I should have thought of that first (asking cher)!!!! BBL . . .
cwm: Thanks. I’m sure we’ll meet again. As soon as something is happening on the west coast.
Hi all. I was internet-less all yesterday from early evening until this morning. Pffft. Am flying into Montreal on the 27th and staying overnight. Several of us are renting a minivan ( at this rate maybe a bus lol) and driving into St. Agathe for 2 nights and then leaving on the 30th. Am spending another night in Montreal (trying to see something of Montreal/Quebec in a day or so.
) and flying out on the 31st. Well, haven’t booked yet, but this the supposed plan of the moment.

Bought a Montreal/Quebec book to look thru tonight and get some hotel recommendations. Got some food recommendations from a friend of my sister who spoke of lobster poutine (wow!) and some Portuguese places that are reasonably priced and very good. Yes!! My kinda trip…involves Adam Lambert, dear friends and food!!
cher…sounds like a plan! Keep us posted.
lobster.poutine.does.not.compute…
Sorry, that’s not poutine.
It’s like the silly lobster mac and cheese that Trader Joe sells. No it isn’t. It’s worse.WTF.
IMHO
turquoisewaters — Yes! Let’s visualize that west coast show!
rainbowgal — thanks much for your kind thoughts a page or so ago.
Did you all see the riotous reaction on Twitter to the mistaken report that Miranda Lambert got married to Adam Lambert this past weekend? Contactmusic.com wrote up a piece about Miranda Lambert’s wedding, and in the first paragraph reported that Miranda had married Adam Lambert (rather than Blake Shelton). Adam’s fans had a field day on Twitter with absolutely hilarious reactions. Some folks were wondering how poor Blake and Sauli feel about this surprising development, some were trying to figure out what wedding gifts would be appropriate, and others congratulated Adam on his shrewd strategy for expanding his fanbase into the broad realm of country fans by marrying Miranda. LMAO Some of the comments under the actual story are pretty funny too. You can see that the editor of contactmusic.com has now posted a correction, but OMG it was so funny.
http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/story/miranda-lamberts-wedding-pictures-set-to-be-released_1219248
Oh and somebody came up with a picture of the happy couple! LMAO
http://twitpic.com/4ykvtj
There were a few of us laughing about this in the morning Headlines thread at MJs today (see page 3).
cher, try to stay in a B&B in the French section in Montreal. Or, consider driving (yeah, I know, you don’t like to drive LOL but it’s a pretty straight shot) to Quebec City. Amazing place. You’d swear you were in Europe, two hundred years ago. Think about staying overnight there instead of Montreal on the return trip. Just a thought.
Montreal is a beautiful city (the New York of Canada, but cleaner and prettier) but it is a modern city.
Here are a couple more treats to enjoy:
A very nice feel-good fan-made video set to One-Republic’s “Good Life.” Nice footage and photos of Adam and members of the GlamTroupe from over the past year:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voSeltv76Sk
Also, those of you who visit 24/7 have probably already seen this, but I thought it was interesting and hadn’t seen it discussed here. Sauli did a Finnish radio interview, and a translation of the parts related to Adam were posted on 24/7:
http://adamlamberttv.blogspot.com/2011/05/sauli-koskinen-talks-adam-lambert-in.html
My favorite quotes from Sauli: “I can say I’m very happy right now,” “We are just very similar,” and ”Life is very normal here, it is not just like party after party. We have normal weekday routines too. It’s of course kinda weird to me, I didn’t know half of a year ago that I’d be here now. But that’s how life works sometimes.”
Aww, reading this makes me very happy for both of them. I like what (little) I know of Sauli. He seems like a really good guy. I really like how, despite the intense media interest in both the US and Finland, Sauli is as intent as Adam is on keeping things as “normal” as possible and on keeping the private stuff private. And it’s so great for them that Sauli has found an LA-based job doing correspondence for Finnish radio.
It really makes my heart happy to see these two finding love and happiness with each other. Somehow it makes the world seem like a better place.
One more little tidbit… This brief video of Adam interviewed on the red carpet at the ADL fundraiser honoring Steven Spielberg way back when (remember that? where Adam sang the National Anthem?) JUST got posted:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYbYukEFWeI
Thanks for mentioning the Lambert/Lambert marriage. I would have totally missed, I was so busy. That was hilarious, I downloaded the picture – for when I need a laugh.
cwm: I just had time for a drive-by post this morning. I am sorry for your loss and hope you are hanging in there okay. Yes, sometimes you feel like the virtual sister I never had.
I wish someone had video of the complete anthem. He did such a wonderful job with it. This is the best link I know of, in case anyone needs a refresher: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlhlgJ1pQxo&feature=related
cwm, thank you for the riches today! Didn’t have time to look at them all earlier – really enjoyed the items at the end of this busy day!
Please add my condolences to the others for your loss. **Hugs**
Kradam, love your suggestions for our upcoming Canada “expedition,” and passed them along to cher in case she doesn’t check in tonight. I’ve been wanting to include Quebec City all along, wanted to go there for a long time.
During this semi-quiet AFL period, I was perusing the DDD and they are discussing their all-time favorite mind-blowing AFL performances, and brought up this lovely gem from River Rock in Canada last year. Love the jazz phrasing ad 2:04.

turquoise, here is the whole anthem. Visuals are a little bit distant, but the audio is awesome.

riskylady, it’s only a 4 hour drive from Ste Agathe to Quebec City. You could be there for lunch. I recommend L’entrecote St. Jean for a classic French dining experience; they do a terrific steak-frites. Or Aux Anciens Canadiens for a (somewhat touristy) pretty authentic meal from the days of the trappers. The restaurant is housed in the oldest residence in Quebec City – 1600s. Or the restaurant at the ground floor of Le Musee du Fort (unrelated to the museum). Then go shopping on the rue St. Jean. Or down in the lower town. Some very nice restaurants there, too. It is impossible to eat badly in Quebec City as long as you avoid the tourist traps.
(In French: érable)
Really good ice cream at a shop on rue St. Louis. Get the maple (of course!).
Hey Suz thanks for the welcome! All this talk about Canada is making me so wish I was going too!! Maybe I should reconsider…?? AHHH…what to do, what to do! Reality rears its ugly head.
Welcome tchrsd! I’m glad you decided to join the fray. You’re in SD, right? Join us westerners in sending out wishes to the universe for a west coast show this summer!
turquoisewaters and kradamour— {{hugs}} to you both. And thanks for posting those NA videos. So perfect. As Adam said in that ADL red carpet interview, it was shined and buffed.
cwm, Thank you! Happy to be here!
cwm, Yes in San Diego area. A west coast summer show is what I’m praying for! Wouldn’t that be AMAZING?!!
kradamour: Thanks for the link. I like that version very much because it is so tender and understated, whereas the ADL version is just all sorts of stunning and fabulous. One for each mood.
Lookie here Krad. This Montreal restaurant offers about 30 different types of poutine.
And I located a couple restaurants with lobster poutine. Oh dear, the temptation is strong…
http://www.restaurantaupieddecochon.ca/menu_e.html
Riskylady, what
Stop me please! Gotta have duck in a can!!
say we go from the 26th? lolol Lotsa restaurants to try plus a Chinatown as well…
Welcome tchrsd! I am a teacher, too. Math. Of all things. So you can probably all understand why I need a little bit of glitter to balance out my life. Just kidding. I love what I do.
Would be fabulous if some west coast event popped up. But I think you all might be right that Adam is seeking out a smaller event like Quebec on purpose to be able to try out new things. I am very curious what it will be like. And while the lucky few are having poutine, I will be happy to watch videos and read their reviews. I am really looking forward to that.
Cher and a menu – watch out world! ! !
Kradamour…of course you can’t be up this early as I confess something. You guys have been talking about poutine for several days yet I had no idea what it was until I googled it last night. Yikes..
luval…heart attack in a bowl. The “National dish” of Quebec. Interestingly, a lot of quebecois deny eating it, it is a sort of guilty pleasure, like deep fried Twinkies. (I NEVER eat those. Uh-uh. Not me. Nossir.
Except at ball games. I don’t know the rules for baseball so I walk around and eat while others enjoy the game.) There are some funny videos of “man on the street” kind of interviews about poutine where peeps turn their back and don’t even answer LOL.
Its beginnings are also shrouded in mystery, there are a couple of competing stories.
Now, as to this lobster poutine f*ckery…no. Just no. As a practical matter, you wouldn’t even taste the lobster, the sauce is pretty strong flavored. Total waste. I suspect they created it for tourists. Bah.
Now, there are a few sort of classic poutine offshoots. One with chopped hotdogs and cetchup. One with ground beef and spaghetti sauce. A few others. Basically, anything you put over French fries in a bowl with a sauce is a poutine, but the classic is always the fresh cheese curds (the squeaky ones) and a rich chicken-based gravy, all of it melted together over HOT fries into a hot mess. OMG it is good…
BTW I once saw (shudder) a PBJ poutine on a tourist menu for little American kids. Gag.
Clip of teens talking about poutine:

another clip, about the history of poutine and present day poutine:

Oh, I just remembered one more thing about poutine!
In an election 2000 segment, Rick Mercer of the television series This Hour Has 22 Minutes convinced then-Governor of Texas George W. Bush that Canada’s Prime Minister, Jean Chrétien, was named Jean Poutine and that he was supporting Bush’s candidacy. A few years later when Bush made his first official visit to Canada, he joked during a speech, “There’s a prominent citizen who endorsed me in the 2000 election, and I wanted a chance to finally thank him for that endorsement. I was hoping to meet Jean Poutine.” The remark was met with laughter and applause.
You’re all so lucky to be going to Canada to see Adam and meet up with each other. I can feel the excitement coming through the comments. You must all do really detailed recaps for all us folks who aren’t able to go.
HK fan and others – no worries about recaps! I think everyone who is fortunate enough to attend an Adam concert really feels the obligation to share as much as possible with fans who aren’t able to be there in person.
Speaking of, do we know anyone who is going to the Moscow show? or are we (in the terms of Tennessee Williams) dependent upon the kindness of strangers?
Good morning all! I’m not a very adventuresome eater, these menus are scaring me!
Poutine?!! I don’t know.
I’m off to see an exhibit of impressionist paintings with my daughter. I love Monet!
Hi nkd…I usually like to try new and different foods wherever I go but I have a rather sensitive stomach and other parts down there.
So I probably will stick with the tried and true foods just to be safe. There will be plenty of it I’m sure.
luval and nekkid, you will never go wrong with the wonderful Quebecois soups! Even my sons who never eat soup at home always order soup with every meal there. Those cold Canadian winters gave birth to an extraordinary soup repertoire…
Poutine isn’t scary. Think boardwalk fries. But better. So much better!
Amen, nkd.
And amen, jlurksacto too!
If the description of the Israel trip is any indication, a bottle of Maalox must be packed for this trip. But, I do love a good soup, Kradam, so thanks for that LOLOL!
