August saw Adam globetrotting to Australia, New Zealand, US, Germany, Poland, and England promoting The Original High. But the travel doesn’t stop there as he heads to South America for the first time. Queen + Adam reunite to play a series of dates there including Rock in Rio which Queen inaugurated some 30 years ago.

    I haven’t been here for over a week. On August 25th, my dad was diagnosed with acute leukemia. On August 31st, he passed away. I have a huge hole in my heart which will remain there until the day that I die.
    We had a beautiful service for him. His favorite violinist performed and the service was held near his garden. Mom loved it. Seize the moment in everything that you do. Dad’s golden rule was spend less than you make, which isn’t necessarily consistent with seizing the moment but he was full of contradictions. I miss him terribly already!

    sparkle May your father rest in peace. He has wise words. Maybe he meant that if you spend less than you make, you will be able to enjoy and worry less even during the bad times. This must be all a shock for you and your family. I hope you will find strength in his wisdom and your beautiful memories with your father.

    I have a ton of questions that I hope some of our music industry pro’s can help me understand.

    What exactly is pledgemusic and what do all those numbers that they post at mj’s mean? They seem to be comparing dcook, Nick, and jdurbin. I get that they are raising money to fund either the making of an album or promo or just a preorder. Do they ever have to account for what the money is used for? What do those numbers really mean?

    I know we all wonder if Adam will have a north american tour. I just read at mj’s again that David Cook got a sponcer for his tour. Some energy drink. Why would Adam,who is on a major label,not be able to tour in his home country? I don’t get it.

    Finally, small rant to follow, why does Sam Smith keep getting all these high profile gigs? Is it because he is percieved as a safe gay? Is Adam too good looking and pretty sexy to boot and that makes him too edgy and sorta intimidating? It cannot be the voice.

    If anyone can explain this stuff to me, I would be very appreciative.

    I cannot really give an explanation, I am just imagining Adam getting a lot of sponsors from hiking gear, humus and juice stands… Smile as he is maintaining a healthy lifestyle…

    And about Sam Smith… he is British and James Bond Movies are British… and he is only 23 years old… not that much experience… so I wonder what his songs are all about… but maybe he sings about things that are safe to hear on the radio ? But what about rap songs?

    I love Adam because of all the things you mention… sexy, edgy, intimidating… So maybe it is an age thing… Adam’s songs have more mature topics… I am not sure whether I would appreciate Adam’s songs so much if I were 18 years old… I know Adam has a lot of young fans but still..

    apal123, I don’t think this is the issue. It’s just that he’s waiting longer to see what will happen with the album. I think he could even fund or partially fund his own tour now with no monitary problems.

    I am so excited about the next round of QAL concerts. Luval– I love Adam’s Instagram photo that you posted. It brings back so many memories and makes me happy that there’s more QAL to come. I was wondering when the guys would get together to start rehearsing for the show. I thought that they’d meet in London since Adam was in Europe, but it looks like they’re all converging right now in Brazil. I hope we get some new songs. That “Princes of the Universe” video is so fierce (especially Freddie). I’d love to see what Adam would do with it.

    I’ll be in Europe during all of the South American concerts. I know I’ll have good wifi for first two, but am not sure about the rest. If not, I’ll just have to catch up on the videos when I get to more “civilized” locations on the trip.
