Yes, The Big Chill! Must have watched that one at least 20 times.
My son had the same reaction to Rosemary’s Baby. He didn’t think the Exorcist was scary at all but was really freaked out by RB.
Have always wanted to go to Sundance or Toronto Film Festival. Need to stop putting it off!
Bell, Book, and Candle
Shane
Pinky
2012…especially the ending song!!!
Adamized…. you, me, Toronto. 2013.

Road trip!
The timing makes it perfect for a little-bit-late birthday celebration.

Was waiting for someone to say this!

I’ve introduced my kids to a lot of classic rock, lots of pop music, and a ton of movies. Isn’t it rewarding when they like the “oldies?” Comedies like Trading Places, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, The Producers, Coming to America, The Jerk. My sons would love them, and re-watch them as they got older for even better understanding. They loved Trading Places. Those train scenes were outrageously funny, and a movie like that could never be made these days, not politically correct. Or any of the Mel Brooks movies either. Sad.
Oh No!! I forgot A Fish Called Wanda!! More Kevin Kline. The love-making scene with the Italian talking and the boots. Too funny!!
(Disclosure: This is coming from a long-time Prince fan.)I can only recommend you go see Prince if you are anywhere close. Great live performer, with an endless supply of great songs to pull from. I went last summer and it was so freaking fantastic. He performed for 2 1/2 hours and seemed to have a blast doing it. Such a star.
Krad – sent you an e-mail.
Even Prince has a new “do”. Was on The View. (I’m all about the hair, of course…no matter who it is.
)

Did someone already mention Young Frankenstein? The Producers?
Kradamour, you are definitely on. Toronto Film Festival 2013. Hmmmm. Seems like we should know at least a couple of special folks in the Toronto area???
Ya know, I think we’ve talked about this before, but, if Adam were ever to make a musical again, he simply must be the Pirate King in Pirates. That’s a role he was born to play. So fierce, so strong. But, he could easily be Frederic, with those soaring vocals.
Adamized, that was me with both.
mils should have known.
Good night everyone.
OMGosh, I created a monster!!
My funniest movie of all time. I’ve probably seen it over 30 times, know all the lines and what’s coming next, but still laugh out loud:
Bringing Up Baby
My cried-the-most-movie of all time.
The Color Purple. Celie seeing her adult children for the first time and her childhood playmate and sister Nettie?
Couldn’t see the screen for the tears.
There was a joke I read about that movie at the time it was in release. I think it was in the New Yorker. Spielberg’s name was deliberately misspelled or mispronounced. Maybe it’s true.
… Overheard on a New York City bus, “Have you seen the new Spielberger movie “The Colored People?” …
Kradamour AND Adamized coming to Toronto?!?!!
I’m so glad you’ve given me a year’s notice to get ready.
Ron, Color Purple is another one of the movies, that if I come across it, I’m stuck, not changing channels, not leaving my house until it’s over. I always cry when she is re-united with her sister at the end.
Ron, that was lulzy!
Well, a year will give you plenty of time to rustle up the creme de cassis for our kirs royales!

Adamized and I are pretty serious about the festival, I think. I love Toronto – was only there once, but considered emigrating to Canada. (Not just because of that visit, of course.) Even totalled up the points one needed to emigrate, and I had more than enough!
Haha, A Fish Called Wanda! Looooved that movie. And, anything Monty Python (someone mentioned it before).
Adam is such a daddy-long-legs. Isn’t it hilariously adorable and sexy how he has to shuffle those gams around to finally get them settled in that gif? I think I will watch it a few hundred times so I can go to sleep with that image!
Ron, Adam recently said in an interview that he cried his eyes out watching The Color Purple (or was it a Twitter party). Anyway, he said it, so you can bond over that.
I’ve been lost in With Cat Like Tread from Pirates. Between Kevin Kline’s long legs with those high boots, and the mental image of Adam playing that role, I’m getting kinda light-headed!!

luval, I am totally into hair! It’s been my craft of artistry since 1969. So, you know I embrace hair on all levels, but most definitely not shaved.
I love longer hair, and have fun designing it.
But, I enjoy creating different edgy looks.
Semi retired now, but always the artist.
I do miss Adam’s side burns & fringe & his peek-a-boo bangs.
He is still beautiful no matter what.

It was on Twitter, October of last year.
Did any of you guys see Adam on your TV tonight???
He was on Barbara Walters’s Best in TV Special. American Idol was voted #2 Favorite Reality Show. She showcased Kelly, Carrie, Jordan, Phillip, Adam, and Jennifer Hudson. Adam was given the most air time, so it seemed. Barbara is such a Glambert! I hope she has him back on The View.
Thanks Riskylady and Ellessay! I didn’t know Adam felt that way about it. Interesting.
Absolutely! I’ll pick the perfect place for us.
Maybe rs could plan her trip to Toronto around that time, too! luval could drive up from Syracuse and Cher could plan a visit with her mother and sisters!
You can all stay at
my placeTLKC’s!No and I would have loved to see it. I didn’t realize it was on. So glad Adam is included among that company!
OMG, dcglam, I hope that makes it to youtube!
I’ve puzzled and puzzled until my puzzler is sore…still don’t know what to do about DC. Tomorrow is another day.
Good night, peeps!

Sweet Adam dreams!
Adam on 20/20 this evening….

That will be easy, Ron.

Your being there will make it perfect!
G’nite!
I’m hoping that a better video shows up with the entire American Idol segment.
I’ll bet MJ will have it up.
Someone mentioned The Thorn Birds (I think) with Richard Chamberlain, so I was just gonna drop a little personal information in here. Another actor who was in The Thorn Birds, Earl Holliman, is my mother’s first cousin which I guess makes him my cousin too. I think he is probably around 80 yrs. old now. He left Louisiana at an early age, so I never got to meet him. I didn’t meet him when I spent a couple of weeks in Hollywood a few years ago, although I spent a large part of three summers in Louisiana with his adoptive mother and other family members. He never made it home when I was there. He has been in many movies and quite a few tv shows that some of you who like older films may remember. He also starred opposite Angie Dickinson for four years in the tv series Police Woman. He even appeared in the first episode of The Twilight Zone. He earned his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame quite a few years ago. Some of his more famous movies are:
Giant
The Rainmaker
Sons of Katie Elder
Gunfight at OK Corral
Kradamour, this is probably not going to happen for me for the same reason that I couldn’t join y’all to see Lindsey — too much going on that day. I agree that this is a tough call, though. I am finding myself obsessing over maybe I could change this and maybe I could change that. Unfortunately, I don’t think it is going to work.
Hi Ceddies!
I certainly remember your cousin! He was always memorable with a distinctive voice. I guess the first time I remember seeing him was in “Forbidden Planet”, then “The Rainmaker” and, yes, The Twilight Zone.
He always stood out for me and I hope he’s doing well.
Awwwww …
Let the countdown begin! Only 357 more days to go!
Ron, I thought that you may remember him based on some of the movies that you mentioned and have mentioned in the past. I would really like to just go back and watch all of the movies that he has been in that I saw at a much earlier age. I wonder what I would pick up on now that I didn’t notice back then.
He also has been the president of an animal rights organization for more than 25 years. That runs in the family I guess, cause I got a good dose of looking out for unfortunate animals.
G’nite peeps!
I’ve noticed that about you Ceddies on Face Book. That’s so good of you. Your compassion towards animals is needed in this world and is very admirable!
Ceddies cousin in the full pilot episode of The Twilight Zone: “Where Is Everybody?”

ETA: Just watched it. Did that ever bring back memories. It’s not easy to act by yourself with no else to play off but he did it and did it very well! Really pulled it off.
I see where he’s now 84 years old and lives in LA with 2 dogs and 10 cats!
Thank you Ron. I do all I can but wish I could be in a position to do more. If I had resources and energy, I would be one of those who would take care of hundreds of animals daily.
G’nite again. (Looks like Kradamour, huh?)
Omigosh, Ron, thanks for posting that Twilight Zone! Will have to watch it tomorrow.
I don’t know that I could pick a favorite movie. My husband is a romantic–and his favorite movie is “Goodbye Girl” He also loves both Princess Diaries movies.
I love musicals–and even though I own the DVDs I will watch when they come on tv. Favs are Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, Chicago, Mama Mia.
I love Pride and Prejudice, but my favorite version is the one with Colin Firth.
I love comedies. I have both Bridget Jones Diary movies (because of my love of Colin Firth!)
I’m a fan of Harrison Ford and Gene Wilder, so I love the Frisco Kid where they both star, and most of their individual movies too.
I also like the Color Purple. It’s very well acted and just rips your heart out at the end.
Another favorite is Foul Play–Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn. Also love Clue.
Another one that stands out is Rocky Horror Picture Show. I will always be a fan of Tim Curry. Not sure why I find him so sexy in that movie! Hmmm.
Btw, iTunes Pop Top 200 report: Trespassing was 99, slipped down to 108, then 114, then 164, yesterday, this morning back up to 104 and right now 101. Yep, word of mouth, and whatever other mentions people notice in mags, blogs, etc. Slow and steady, baby.
Love your reporting, riskylady – yes, slow and steady – seeing his face, hearing him talk – definitely provokes interest.
OMG, yes, the fandom is definitely expanding rapidly!!! Lots and lots of new young fans. And they’re all over his YouTubes more and more and will not tolerate trolls! Here’s an example from Twitter:
LOL!
Hey – I remember Earl Holliman – and Twilight Zone – fav program way back when.
Love those tweets, riskylady – his youtube fame is spreading – Excellent!
Just watched Adam on 20/20! What a surprise treat! Showed Barbara interviewing him, and a couple clips from Idol. What a voice our boy has!
Well, now Adam and I have even more in common.
My colleagues decided to hire the other guy.
Not gonna lie, it hurts. Thanks so much to all of you who have posted such lovely supportive comments for me and sent me good wishes. I can’t tell you how much it touched me to read those today. *tears* {{hugs}} It’s been a little rough, and I can feel your genuine caring. So thank you.
Aww, cwm, I’m so sorry you got that news. I’m sure you must be a mixed bag of emotions right now especially after you’ve put your heart and soul into your work and in trying to get the position. You never know, though, the time may come when you will be so glad that it worked out this way. We never know what’s down the road or around the next corner. Try to get some down time if you can and rest up. Time will help. Sending more hugs your way this morning!!!
What about A Love Affair and An Affair to Remember-wonderful and so romantic! And I also have to submit The Parent Trap, one of my all-time favs. Serendipity is also a great one, along with Chocolat. Roman Holiday and Romance on the High Seas is on my list too!
CWM This sucks! I am so sorry! Sounds like it is time to move on my dear. Obviously you have skills and worth…find a company that will recognize that and move yourself up the ladder!
Aw, cwm, I am sorry. Unfortunately that happens a lot. Institutions think that someone from the outside looks better and will bring in new energy (grass is greener and all of that shit), and they know that they already have you. But it stinks and in the long run it is their loss. As someone once told me, when one door closes, another window opens. It didn’t make me feel better at the time, but in the end it turned out to be oh so true. Take your time to see how things play out, and knowing you, things will be fine.
I’m so sorry cwm. It has happened to me a couple of times and it hurts. Nothing can be said to make you feel better. Next time, maybe. I guess Adam is feeling a bit like you only he is a few weeks removed from it and he can avoid it. You will have to work with the new person.
The thing is: you put yourself out there, which is always the right thing to do. Good luck next time. I’m sure there will be a next time.
kradamour, adamized, lets do it! TIFF 2013. I didn’t go this year because we have a big convention and I’m new at my job but next year I will know the ropes and the convention is a whole week later next year.
Getting tickets is a complicated business but I know the ropes. They issue a lovely book detailing all the films and a schedule. You pick the films you want and submit by lottery. I believe you can do it online now.
The best way to do it: keep and eye on Cannes and the movie reviews. (I can do that for us.) Plus the Toronto papers report the films as they are picked up.
The directors almost always come to the films and often the stars do, too, even in the morning. They don’t just go to the gala’s. Also, they are much more talkative at the daytime screening. I have seen so many actors over the years.
The best thing in the world – getting up early and walking into a theatre with a cup of coffee and sitting down with a ton of other ardent fans. It’s a little bit like being a Glambert.
Between 1995 and 2005 I managed to pick the Oscar-winning foreign film every year but one – such a high to see the premiere of an amazing film. If we all go nuts for it the director is overwhlemed and thrilled because it means it will get picked up. Very emotional. TIFF audiences are regarded as a good test of what will work. I actually saw Slumdog Millionaire at the festival before it was distributed.
There are a lot of film festival directors from small towns at the festival, as well. They come to Toronto to see films, select them for their city, and book them. Most of them are cinephiles and wonderful to talk to.
Taste varies from person to person so we tend to choose our own films (all of the theatres are within a short distance of each other) and run around on our own; meeting for common films and the occasional bite of food. On the last night we usually reserve a big table at a nearbye restaurant and compare notes on all the films we’ve seen. It’s a feast of food and ideas.
I missed it so much this year.
There are a lot of Hollywood films as well as art and foreign films. You can get a Gala pass and see all the biggies over 7 evenings. Talking in line is the best way to meet people from all over the world.
You could stay at the Chelsea, right near Ron’s place. luval knows it. Good location for the fillm festival.
Anyone else in?
