September finds blond Adam back in the US after a busy August touring Japan and Australia. What’s in store for us this month? A third single announcement? Confirmation about Idol judges (is Adam one of them?!)? More speculation of a Queen+Adam tour or possibly an actual Trespassing tour? Will he add more shows in the coming months? Even Adam’s hairdresser does not know for sure. So while we wait, continue to chat away about anything and everything Adam related. Enjoy!

This is the only time I’ll say anything regarding Adam not getting Idol, and I know this won’t be a popular opinion here, but I feel that this puts the nail in the coffin of the Trespassing era. Just don’t see how the album will continue to be viable with no significant radio airplay, no apparent label support or promo for Trespassing the single (which may in fact be a single in name only), and only a handful of scattered concert dates on the calendar. Things like the PLL appearance just don’t get on the public’s radar screen to anywhere near the level that twice weekly AI screen time would have.

Thank you for keeping our spirits up during this time when bastards at AI were using Adam and others to manipulate fans. I always have to remind myself it’s just a television show. They don’t care about talent, it’s all about casting the right people to pull in viewers. I don’t like Nikki any more than I do Howard Stern–but Howard has become my favorite AGT judge, and I would never believe I would say that!

I think Adam’s future is going to be in television and live performances. The television will pull in the younger demographic that he needs. He’d never going to be a teen heartthrob like Bieber, so he has to be seen as being really cool. PLL will help that. And with all of the attention he gets, I still believe AI will want to harness that for their show, either using him as a mentor, and certainly having him perform a couple of times during the season.

Been feeling pretty bummed this weekend coming to grips with the “reality” that Adam did not make the Idol panel..I really feel that they missed the opportunity to have one of the greatest judges out there but also a chance to make a large statement with having a former experienced contestant and an “openly gay man” involved with the show. The barriers need to be broken and he needs his chance to shine!!! He is one of a kind and really no one can equal him and his many talents. I may not have expressed my thoughts as sincerely as I feel, but life proceeds and on to the next Adam adventure–meanwhile saving my bucks for Queen and Adam!!!! HOPE–HOPE Cry ROTFL Yes No

Right now, I see pop music as a sort of a flood of random music, random promotion, that rushes by. Various heads pop up and go under at a quick pace as currents change erratically. It is not a good time to be a new artist.

I see Adam as a game-changer, much like Elvis, Beatles, etc. He needs to quit trying to fit into the “pop” world and make them fit into his. Adele proved that it can be done. She kept production simple, her themes were universal and heartfelt. She didn’t have to wear outrageous costumes like GaGa, autotune like Katy Perry, stage athletic performances like Pink. She’s won awards and her album has stayed at the top of the charts a long time.

When Adam first stated that she had inspired him on this second album, I was excited. I think part of the problem is that there are a lot of high profile producers who want to work with him and he hoped the collaborations would help make him a success. I think he should have gone with his original concept. I don’t want him sounding like every other song on the radio.

Right now I want to take a minute to say “thank you” personally to Jlurksacto for his unwavering, steadfast positive outlook over the past few weeks regarding Adam becoming a judge on Idol.

    I agree!

I finally got to watch my Kiev DVD and it was great. I did miss the Elmo jacket when the bass line for Dragon Attack came on.

rs, thank you so much for the message posted a couple of pages ago. We might, maybe, possibly go in the spring. Maybe. I’ll message you if we do! As you know, we have family there in 2 cities, actually 3, including your city!!!

I’m happy for the video winners. Some cute stuff there.

I am not worried at all about Adam.

The only thing I am worried about is moola for his yet to be announced tour, Queenbert, and travel to see my kids. This economy is a downer, not Adam’s career. And, that’s the reality for me , and maybe a lot of folks in the fandom.

I just have a feeling he’s got something cooking that he hasn’t talked about yet. He was so fricking happy, it had to be about something. If it was just Idol, maybe he’s going through a let down too. I still think he’ll have something to do with Idol. Maybe I’m delusional. Special mentor?

Sina Weibo (Chinese: 新浪微博; pinyin: Xīnlàng Wēibó; literally “Sina Microblog”) is a Chinese microblogging (weibo) website. Akin to a hybrid of Twitter and Facebook, it is one of the most popular sites in China, in use by well over 30% of Internet users, with a similar market penetration that Twitter has established in the USA.[3] It was launched by SINA Corporation on 14 August 2009,[1] and has more than 300 million registered users as of February 2012. About 100 million messages are posted each day on Sina Weibo.

riskylady, I loved that video. It was just so cute, but kinda sassy at just the right moments. I also think Adam got it right with those brothers. I think the Michael Jackson sampling and choreo is what won it for them. Oh, and The Trespassing arm pose, hand at waist, elbows skewed. I think we saw that first at NNN awards. Right?

Luval I hope you tweeted that idol poll to Nigel @dizzyfeet. I totally agree with that poll. All that hype for what?????? Monkey Grin Am definitely now a The Voice fan. Love me some Blake even though I’m so not a country music fan. XFactor has too much filler and nonsense sometimes. Have to dvr it and then fast forward thru the junk. Britney is the draw I guess but even my hubby who loves Britney and doesn’t like reality singing shows started watching XFactor because of her and said he’s disappointed with Britney as a judge, says she hasn’t aged well and actually likes Demi Lovato now. Says she is the best judge of the four. BTW he doesn’t even know her name. Calls her the “other girl”. Grin I told him she actually sings pretty well unlike his girl Britney.

HK fan, thanks for the article of soundbath lady! That was one of the best reviews of London Queenbert shows I’ve read. And good links to the vids, some of which I had not seen before. I have to post the link of that review to some non-berts Smile

Talking about deliveries, big thanks to rs for yours! Heart Rose It came on Fri, I sent you email… And jlurk, congrats for your famous DVD clients Big Smile Singer from UK and Bowie, whose next???!!! Queen Elisabeth II Laugh ?

  23. TLKC says:

Thanks for the link to the Soundbath essay, cher. I was in the balcony the first night and have to say that the audience was definitely split: tall people pounding fists on the right and small people with video cameras on the left.

Maybe word spread fast after the first concert because the Queen fans at the front of the crowd on the second night said they were keeping an open mind. It was great to see them start singing Seven Seas of Rhye from the very first note. A lot of Queen fans wanted to know if we were just Adam fans or Queen fans as well. Hilarious chatting for nearly 2 hours before the show. I see the Hammersmith concerts as a great meeting of minds between fan bases. Queen fans are in a class of dedication that cannot be matched. Goes back decades. We’re working on it…

Now that we are re-focussed on Queenbert I will remind people that Doug, who stage-managed Adam’s pre-Glam Nation gigs, is now working on a Seal tour and tweeted about a month ago asking why Queen was booking venues in the US. He also asked “Who is going?”

They could be booking for a NA leg of the proposed Queen Extravaganza world tour but that event didn’t do tremendously well in NA – only the Canadian dates sold out and that was probably because 2 out of the 3 Freddies are Canadian.

    Could be a Queenbert tour.

  24. LadyNorth says:

I have got nice time today watching all the winning vids of Trespassing contest and catching up after weekend away (thanks to my sore back I have to stay home and lay down). I appreciate and adore people who have time, energy and skills to do videos like that! Maybe it’s more natural to young people, to do them? They have grown up with that kind of technology. It’s good to see Adam also has younger fans but I would have liked to see also vids from 29 years olds!

I liked best all the videos in “best overall” category, the winner of “choreography” category (three young women dancing) and the winner of “message” category (school bullying story) and in “random” category the hedgehog Trespassing was so adorable and cute, I loooved it Big Smile Also appreciate those who sang the song themselves. Adam and Sauli really must have had fun weekend going through them all! I’d like to know the technique they used.. Grin

And the Idol judge news is final now. Thanks to all of you and other glamberts who have moved to positive path about it (glass half full). I loved the “reasons why Adam didn’t get into Idol judging” Grin I think it’s really the show’s loss, Adam will survive it. I don’t know if I have any interest in the show any more – it’s become quite boring past years. Too many music shows – Idol, X-factor and Voice, and we get them all Finnish AND U.S. versions! Plus at least two choir competition shows. Maybe I just watch Adam vids next season Smile

I have enjoyed AI (since season 4), because there’s so much better singers than in Finnish Idol. But past years I’ve become really fed up with winning WGWGs – there’s been some interesting female voices/personalities that I’ve liked, but voters seem to like guys… OTT Last season’s winner in Finland was an incredible voice, 17 years old girl who sang Beyonce, Whitney, Christina Aquilera etc. so well that they could stop the show here too after that. She is too good to stay here, hope she gets abroad. I read Beyonce’s singing teacher had contacted her…

Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey Already At Each Other’s Throats

Mariah Carey wasted no time proving what we told you 2 weeks ago — there’s only room for one diva on “American Idol.”

Carey and Nicki Minaj went at it during the first “A.I.” taping Sunday in NYC. When Nicki started critiquing a contestant, Mariah would interrupt — not once, but many times. Each time Mariah interrupted, Nicki fought back by loudly talking over Mariah.

One “A.I.” spy said Mariah and Nicki tried to cover their disdain for each other but everyone saw through it, adding, “These girls just don’t like each other.”

You may recall, we reported when producers called Mariah to tell her that Nicki would probably be joining her as a judge, she hung up the phone.

Brian May and Roger Taylor, may have written some new material, with the Queen signature sound, but updated some. This, if true has to have been his inspired, by their beloved muse Adam.

They are both in their 60’s, but that is the new 40, right?

I do believe the Brits, would be all over this, and embrace it. The world would follow.

Any exposure for Adam, and his unearthly voice, and performance mastering, could only enhance is solo career.
I could easily see this happening.

I’ve been ruminating about whether they will continue the Idol tours. Was at the Verizon Center in D.C. in 2009 to see the S8 people – had to pay over $200 to get a decent seat and the huge place was packed and wildly enthusiastic. Don’t see anything remotely like that now if judging by the lack of posts on the last few tours. Are there stats anywhere to see what’s going on or are they held close to the vest by Idol?

  30. ultimathule says:

Loved that SoundBath article – made me feel really good.

  31. AL says:

ultimathule, the Idol tour stats can be found on wikipedia.

Here’s a quick rundown of some of those numbers from Season 7 to 11.

    Total Gross
    Season 7 – $29,906,507 (53 shows)
    Season 8 – $30,139,328 (52 shows)
    Season 9 – $9,600,000 (Estimated by Pollstar)
    Season 10 – $22,002,464 (49 shows)
    Season 11 – $12,408,877 (27 of 35 shows, 8 shows not yet reported)

    Total Attendance
    Season 7 – 493,296 (ave. 9,307 (85.1%) )
    Season 8 – 484,434 (ave. 9,316 (86%) )
    Season 9 – Not reported (ave. 6057)
    Season 10 – 403,695 (ave. 8,589 (97.0%)
    Season 11 – 219,039 (ave. 7,723 (87%) – 8 shows not reported)

After Season 9, they reduced the venue sizes so the tickets sold percentage seems in line or better than previous seasons. Actual attendance was down though. These Idol concerts are relatively inexpensive to put on – no big names to pay, no elaborate stage sets, no special diva requirements – so I figure that they will continue to have them as long as there is Idol.

More details in the wiki entries for the concerts.

BUT this was a very nice jacket, well tailored and well-constructed. It deserved better than to have the sleeves hacked off with scissors.
I know for a fact that there are tailors in Los Angeles who could have achieved this look for you and retained the integrity of the jacket.

I have a feeling he may have bought the jacket with short sleeves. I remember seeing the Juun line and seeing jackets with unusual cuts, lengths, etc.

I wonder if Mariah and Nicki will cannibalize each other, fight so badly that one gets fired? Or, if they can’t get out of their contracts, the whole show will be about them.

TeeHee, they could bring in Adam to show the world how a gentleman behaves.

For all of those who read the Soundbath article, remember the part where she started singing while in the queue and made the rude Queen fans cry? Well, it wasn’t easy (a YouTube search didn’t bring her up, but Google brought up ONE video) but here is Angelina Kalahari singing. J.F.C. HER VOICE IS GORGEOUS!!!! She has a silvery tone, and her lower register is not heavy as in so many sopranos. Can’t imagine why there aren’t more videos…..I would LOVE to hear her sing the song she says she sang that day, as I didn’t like anyone else’s voice because of the weighty lower register….

  48. riskylady says:

For me, Adam can go from naked to covered in 40 layers of makeup and/or clothes and I will love him all the same. Just sayin’…..(well, maybe a little more naked Devil Devil Devil )
Even his poncho. It was a lark, a drag queen contest, and had sentimental value from another drag queen he was fond of. Justifiable.

  49. rs says:

riskylady, I love how you so wholeheartedly and unwaveringly love, defend, and support Adam in all of his different variations.

  50. luval says:

My secret admission…I have always loved the poncho! And could Joan Rivers be any more un-original than to say he looked like Pocahontas. I think she seemed out of her element at the show. Maybe because she was possibly near some of the people she offends. She is much better in the studio.
