It’s time for our September chat thread. Hopefully this will be the final relatively quiet month before Adam’s new single is released. As always, please keep the posting guidelines in mind, and welcome any newcomers. Enjoy!

Found this on twitter. It’s a strikingly beautiful piece of art done by a fan, based on a picture by Tuke18 from the Ste. Agathe show. I think you guys will like this:

eywflyer, I’m also glad that things seem to have calmed down for you. We most definitely appreciate all you do here for us!

Great vid – “Westboro Baptist Church comes to Long Beach, CA” – background music – Diana Ross – “I’m Coming Out.”

Been watching the coverage of 9/11 which affected me hugely as I was working for USAirways then. I think we all know this but here are a couple of lines from the LA Times interview from 2009 from Adam:

“I saw the world when I was 19 and 20. I was in Russia and Scandinavia and the Mediterranean and then we did the East Coast and we pulled into New York on Sept 7, (2001), right before Sept 11. We were doing the tourism thing and when (the attacks) happened, we were up near Nova Scotia and we had to stay out on the water for three days because of security. It was pretty wild, pretty scary.”

  7. Kradamour says:

Thanks for that reminder, luval. I sometimes forget that Adam traveled extensively when he was young before he became landlocked in LA. I always wished that an interview would really delve into those travels and his experiences and his reactions. Some interviewers have done a little bit, but I always want more. Adam is so thoughtful and observant, I’d like at least a half hour devoted to this. Ah, well, if wishes were horses then beggars would ride. Smile

  8. luval says:

Hi Kradamour…I wish I could post that LA Times Interview from 2009. Only have it printed (from my Adamphernalia box lol). It is one of the best IMO since following him. Am going to try and tinker around with it again.

  9. luval says:

Decided to delete an old interview. Time to move on. Smile

  10. dcglam says:

luval, are you referring to that fabulous 4-part interview from 2009? If so, your quote from above is from Part 2…..

    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/americanidoltracker/2009/08/adam-lambert-the-ultimate-interview-part-two.html

If you would like, I could post links for the other 3 parts as well. Smile

  11. glambotgram says:

Luval You can still access the LA Times interview online.
This is part 4 but if you look in the first paragraph there are links to parts 1-3.

I posted it because it is one I never read before and maybe others haven’t either.

  12. glambotgram says:

Hey, it must have something to do with our “glam” names…. Wink
Even our avatars look alike! LOL

  14. luval says:

    Ok you two sisters Smile

Yes, I started to post the LA Times 4 part interview (which is one of the most informative of all time), then thought everyone must have read it. But maybe peeps haven’t seen it! So thanks for being in the same mindset!

eta..all I had to do was google it!

  15. Kradamour says:

eta..all I had to do was google it!

Y’know, I often wonder why I ever save anything. From time to time, the hard drive fails, etc. and all I ever need to do to replace everything is google it, it is out there somewhere. I have started to just keep a master list of links that I want to remember, and I don’t always even include the link, just the key words. If one source deletes it, it is likely to be posted/embedded somewhere else. We used to have tons of home repair/restoration and gardening books, but we are getting rid of them, so much easier to just google what we want to know than to search through the books.
I have to admit that this makes me uncomfortable, though. Neutral

  16. luval says:

    Uncomfortable is right, kradamour.

Another thing 9/11 reminds us how in an instant all communications can be cut-off. No electricity, no water, no nothing. And of course, the recent hurricanes, the blackout in SanDiego (just a worker accidentally cutting a line)…how would we ever charge our phones, etc, etc. So that’s a reason I always have a paper backup of most everything…in my “box”. Smile

  17. nkd says:

So that’s a reason I always have a paper backup of most everything…in my “box”.

Because in case of a disaster, you wouldn’t want to be without Adamphernalia! Those are life-sustaining components! Wink

  18. luval says:

haha, nkd…that’s the box I was talking about!

Is it only 4 more days for the peace pendant sale?

I think Adam has on the leather poncho. I’m hoping that it got thrown in one of the fires! (That’s bad. I know he loves it. I’m so ashamed.)

The way Adam’s hand is on Sauli’s, makes me happy!

That tank top must be very well made, cause it gets some wear! Or he bought a summer supply of them! Wink

@adamlambert @VelvitChimp Ooops. I spell it like the cheese. Had so much fun too.

  22. luval says:

I so wish we could hear Adam sing The Star Spangled Banner someday at a significant American event.
Love the Burning Man pics. Was it that cold at night where everyone looked bundled up? jlurksacto…I bet you could find me the temperature. Smile And Adam holding Sauli’s hand over his shoulder is so precious. Adam is so protective of him.

    WEATHER INFORMATION

Weather on the playa is often violent and unpredictable. Dust storms, high winds, freezing temperatures, rain — Burning Man has seen each of these at various times. Make sure you have plenty of warm clothing: in 1999, longtime participants were caught off-guard by the bone-chilling cold, and spent several nights freezing their tails off. It’s impossible to be overly prepared when it comes to the elements.

nkd…Adam must have one bedroom devoted to all the outfits he has even owned, then mixes and matches to fit the occasion!

btw 9/11/10 Glam nation was at Harrah’s Casino in Tunika Ms. He let the peeps in the front row grab his leg. Smile The gang of traveling mj’ers were there.

eta: one more thing… if any of you are on facebook (according to adamquotedaily), Ellen is asking who we would like to see on her show. DUH!!!

  27. dcglam says:

I so wish we could hear Adam sing The Star Spangled Banner someday at a significant American event.

luval, I had this exact same thought today as my husband and I watched the beginning of the football season. Hmmm….. Maybe a San Diego Chargers game would be a good fit for Adam. However, you are correct in that it doesn’t necessarily have to be sports related. He would so blow everyone out of the stadium, park, or wherever with his rendition!

For someone that says he’s not sentimental over material things, he sure does hang on to a lot of stuff! Well, clothes anyway!

    dcglam says:
luval, I had this exact same thought today as my husband and I watched the beginning of the football season.

The same thought crossed my mind at the beginning of the Texans game today as they unfurled a field sized flag and I think Clay Walker sang the national anthem. It was very moving. Would have loved to have heard Adam sing it!

  29. nkd says:

I had seen that Leno rehearsal video, but it was great watching it again! Thanks luval.

  30. luval says:

When I see that Leno rehearsal video he looks so sweet and unassuming. Then, on the actual show Fierce Jimmy Neutron Adam shows up!! I’ll never forget this was the day before he was leaving for his overseas promotional tour and I was worried his voice would not hold up. haha

  31. nkd says:

    You worry, luval? Wink

  32. luval says:

No, I don’t worry nkd. Smile Smile

  35. Ceddies says:

9/11/10 – the Glam Nation Tour plays the Event Center in Tunica MS:

And I was thereeeeeeeeeeeeeee Just got off phone with my friend who went with me to this concert and then on to New Orleans. We were reminiscing about where we were one year ago tonight. She had an Adam moment today. She, her daughter, and daughter’s friend were riding with the radio on. Adam came on with WWFM, and my friend broke loudly into the conversation with “THAT’S ADAM”. Daughter asked her “That’s who?” She told her Adam Lambert and that she had been to Tunica to see him one year ago today. Daughter said “So that’s who you went to see. I knew you said it was Adam Lambert, but I did not know that he sings this song. I like this song.”

Actually, I don’t know if a lot of people watched these videos from this show, but back when we were coming up with a list of the best “Sleepwalker”, someone (I THINK it was Q3 said she thought Tunica should be on the list as one of the best Sleepwalkers. I don’t think it ever made it onto the list though.

At this show, Adam had a round with the security guys because he had just had problems with security at Windstar a couple of nights before. I haven’t rewatched all of these videos, so I don’t know if his discussion with Security is caught on any of the videos.

I know I have been absent from here for quite some time. I have lurked, but just couldn’t get on and stay on long enough to have conversations, so I just lurked. I will “catch a fire” one day/night soon and put some of my thoughts on here again. Have been missing the back and forth of conversation. Love you all.

ETA: Just went back and read MJ’s thread of Tunica. Bridgette12 had posted about the security guards conversation. I couldn’t recall what the content was, but she had posted that he told them he didn’t want them between him and his fans–and that he didn’t want to look at the back of their heads all night. I remember that now, I knew it was funny. Thanks Bridg for the comment back then.

  36. cher says:

Well I got a call last night a little after 7:00, it was cher. She had just arrived in Houston, for an unplanned overnight, before flying out this morning. So colligahou and I drive to the airport and take her and her friend to dinner. We took her for Tex-Mex of course! Fajitas, guacamole, spicy queso and margaritas! What a wonderful unexpected evening

Thank you nekkid and colligahou for such a great ending to a miserable day after missing my flight (due to two goofs-my son and nephew) and throwing a major hissy fit. I was in a bad bad mood. The filet mignon fajitas were divine and my friend and I thank you both for driving so far at such short notice and treating us to such a fab meal. Uh, half a margarita (my first ever) and my ears were burning up!! They were laughing at me. Smile
Guess I have to drop in overnight in Houston again to get such great treatment. They were actually happy to see me. Smile Adam Lambert fans are truly the best…we have amazing worldwide friendships.

  37. eywflyer says:

Album in “Early 2012”? No sugarcoating it, thats a horrible time of year to drop an album, especially the crucial sophomore album. Its going to be very difficult to get decent sales numbers from a January album release.

I’m quite surprised that RCA apparently didn’t put more pressure on Adam to get this done in time for holiday sales.

    Not good.

  38. jlurksacto says:

    adamlambert Adam Lambert

    @negativeneil @milestougeaux @saulikoskinen1 lovely by-the-fire-wine-n-cheese-listening-session w you guys!!!

And FYI I’m working hard this week and next to finish up all these amazing new tunes! Thank you all for staying patient… I’m excited too!

I’m 90% sure the first single will be out next month (ish) Smile album coming early 2012!

There is still lots of work to be done but I promise: you won’t be disappointed!

  39. fanaround says:

I’m not much of a poster, but this news, well…still massively excited for the single and the album, disappointed for the wait (talk about stating the obvious)…

  40. cwm says:

Yeah, damn. I was really hoping for November, for sales’ sake.

I personally will wait as long as I need to for Adam’s music, but I worry about the difference in potential sales between a November release and a post-Christmas January/February release.

  41. ultimathule says:

Hope this doesn’t extend into DC territory. People move on, baby.

  42. cwm says:

Another little tidbit: No Sia ballad on the album. Perhaps one of their other co-writes made the cut.

    siamusic sia furler
@adamlambert don’t forget to send me our ballad for pitching!

    talatzkomom2 Linda
@siamusic @adamlambert ohhh we cant wait!! OMG!!

    @siamusic sia furler
@talatzkomom2 @adamlambert oh the ballad didn’t make the record! I want it to pitch to another popstar!

  43. cwm says:

    enriqueme Vanessa
@adamlambert do you recommend we all do wine n cheese for our FIRST LISTEN!!!!!!

    @adamlambert Adam Lambert
@enriqueme yeah and maybe something green.

Trying to figure out what he means here. Do you suppose he’s alluding to a March (St Patrick’s Day) release? Or just joking about his penchant for green veggies?

  44. adamized says:

Thanks eywflyer for the not so good news. I really was hoping that Adam would get his single out in time for a Grammy nomination and his album out in time for the jingleball season. This would have given him time to do lots of promo prior to touring season. Maybe he got some additional inspriration at BM and needed to inject that into the album. You can’t rush art or put it on a deadline. OTOH Adam always said he was part artist, part business man and missing the holiday season must have been a hard choice.

From a purely selfish perspective I want more of Adam as soon as possible. A single in September would have been wonderful.

cwm I presumed reference to green was some type of vegetation that you could smoke.

ceddies good seeing you post. Miss ya.

Here’s a wonderful vid of BM. Don’t think this has been posted.

  45. Teri63 says:

I’m personally bummed to have to wait longer for Adam’s album, but I can’t help but be sure the timing is strategic. I’m glad he won’t be releasing with Susan Boyle again, anyway, which is good news in and of itself, and this way he likely won’t have to go head-to-head with Adele at the Grammies since their albums will have been released during different years. Also, an early 2012 release will be perfect for cashing in on those stocking stuffer Itunes gift cards!

  46. Oksana2000 says:

adamized, check your link. It goes to a strange place.

  47. dcglam says:

Right now I am looking forward to and hoping for a very good single. Adam should have plenty of time to gain radio play before the album comes out. Hopefully, this will be easier for him than last time around. With a good single that receives adequate radio play, people will want to purchase the album. When Adam says “early 2012”, I’m wondering if this could actually mean close to spring — maybe March. This might be better than January or February.

  48. dcglam says:

I can’t help but be sure the timing is strategic.

I agree with you, Teri63. Hey, RCA has been in this business a very long time.
I feel confident that they know what they are doing with Adam, (hopefully, ha). Wink

On the other hand, I wonder if the recent merger between Jive and RCA has something to do with this later schedule.

  49. Kradamour says:

    oh sigh oh sigh
So two and a half years after FYE before his sophomore album?

That’s stretching it but not outrageous, and it will take him out of the onslaught of holiday releases. He’ll be a bigger fish in a smaller pond.

Good point about being up against Adele for the grammies, but there will always be a tough competition regardless of the year.
    Still hopeful for a single.

Can’t help thinking that Sauli is part of the delay. True as adamized posted that Adam is part artist and part businessman…and a third identity is young man who is very focused on a full personal life and a future with a partner.
Balancing that last element and building the foundation of a long-term relationship would be worth delay for an album that is virtually guaranteed at least a modest success and probably much more. (IMO)

  50. cwm says:

    adamized:
cwm I presumed reference to green was some type of vegetation that you could smoke.

Haha yeah, I realized belatedly that that was a likely interpretation! LOL Wink
