It’s time for our September chat thread. Hopefully this will be the final relatively quiet month before Adam’s new single is released. As always, please keep the posting guidelines in mind, and welcome any newcomers. Enjoy!

    Hmmmmm, this tweet from Eber:

@adamlambert Enjoyed it! Wish it could have been longer. Keep up the good work. Trust (and defend) your gut!

“And defend”? I smell label problems here. All the jumbling around at RCA makes me very uneasy, and they may not like Adam’s song preferences for the album.

  2. riskylady says:

But, that said, I’m sort of happy because the November date was extremely crowded. And, early in 2012 the field should be clearer, easier to stand out, and like Teri63 said, all those itunes gift cards out there! I hope he can find ways to stay visible….but for me, he’s The One so I’ll happily wait.

  3. riskylady says:

Post-ho here. OOOOR, maybe it’s ADAM’s gut feeling to wait until 2012 and that’s what he has to defend?????? Anyway, can’t wait for that single!

I prefer it when he wails and shows off his voice. RT @KittyGlitty: Were u a part of the listening party? How did u like new tunes ?

Yes, but I want it ALL the time. RT @jona5555: was He not wailing and showing off his voice? @KittyGlitty”

Entire album will be better than anything U’ve ever heard. Guaranteed.

Oh please chill. Can Adam really do anything wrong? RT @josirose: OH GAWD hope she only heard the single(s) for radio

Exactly! I want it to be all Adam all the time. RT @midnightminx19: Me too! Scream it baby

LOVED them. RT @crazyladypf: Overall, did u like the songs?

You said it exactly. RT @KittyGlitty: Ok like I wasnt anxious enuff 4 it. Now Imma have 2 have the new album NOW. lol

  5. luval says:

ok so reading here and over at mj’s thread here’s a list:

    Reasons for delay in album:
    1) Merger between Jive and RCA hold things up
    2) Sauli and new personal life/too many vacations
    3) Adam not happy
    4) RCA not happy
    5) Adam is a perfectionist
    6) Adam wasn’t as far along with the album as we thought.
    But…..
    1)RCA knows what they’re doing
2)Adam sticks to his guns and knows what he’s doing.
3)Album won’t conflict with S.Boyle and James Durbin and anyone else releasing a fall album
4)itunes gift cards will help with sales.

these are just bits and pieces of postings from here and over there…very simplified. I’m not good at lists. Maybe mils can take over (or risky lady!)

A lot of angst and sudo-drama. I’ve got my popcorn & cherry beer stocks

9/12/10 – the Glam Nation Tour plays a very special date at the sold out Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans:

    http://www.adamlambertlive.org/2011/gnt-new-orleans-la-091210

There were quite a number of us (MJ’ers at the time) in attendance at this show.

Regarding the album delay, I think riskylady may have the right idea with a possible label problem, Eber’s tweet along with a number of other hints during the past several months suggest to me that this album is shaping up as something very different and perhaps unexpected given Adam’s previous work, and he may be encountering some pushback from the RCA execs.

I still think this can only hurt album sales, because of the passage of additional time since FYE (now guaranteed to be over 2 years between albums which can really hurt Idol alums), and releasing it in the slow winter sales season. By the time this album drops, there will have been two full AI seasons since Adam was on the show, with a third season underway. That’s an eternity in AI terms – he is going to have to rely on non bubble/bandwagon fans plus his strong international fanbase and hopefully good radio airplay to drive sales.

We need to hope that the album does well in spite of these factors (gonna need a monster lead single IMO). If the album doesn’t sell well and/or the singles don’t chart highly, another tour, especially of the scope of the GNT, is not guaranteed.

Ah yes! NOLA…one year ago. I met many mjer’s there. Spent loads of time with Goatiegarden. Should have stayed longer. My recap was moderated by mistake and never put back. AdamisgodXXX had a great recap. She’s a fun person and loved meeting her and everyone else. I remember the voodoo staff he took on stage at the beginning of “Voodoo”…the 3 queens he called up to the stage…the OZ party…we missed Adam there…he was across the street! My avatar is a picture from OZ on the dance floor. Great times. Would love to go to New Orleans again.

Ah…. the voice of reason, jlurksacto!

Maybe, just maybe, Adam is planning a birthday release on January 29 as a way for all of us to celebrate. LOL…..just trying to think positively here.
Once the single is released next month, I feel there will be plenty of promo to go along with it. Who knows….we may even get a video. Adam is a master at finding ways to keep us occupied! Wink

  11. ultimathule says:

My liquor bill has gone up a lot these past two years (wonder why)- not with cherry beer, however. Although there’re two ancient bottles of Sam Adams Cherry Wheat down in the basement fridge which I haven’t had the balls to try. jlurksacto – want ’em?

I’m mentioned upthread as needing a list made. Of what? I’ve been in real life a lot.

  13. milwlovesadam says:

    Oh. I get it.

    The album info.

    1) A new song next month-ish. Yay! I just hope it KILLS!
    2) The CD in 2012. Waah, I wannit now….
    3) 2012. As said on the Homeplanet. That gives us less than a year to love it. Damn you Mayans!
4)I hope he’s not taking extra time to over-produce it. Make it too techno. Let the voice shine baby boy. Just the voice.
    5) I can wait. Really. I can. If I have to.
    6) Item needed. Please invent. Cushions for the bottom of my feet. To prevent permanent injury from petulant foot stomping. Waaaah! I wannit nooowww!!
    7) Adam can take vacations. We all do. They help re-charge yer batteries. And, Adam is like an Energizer bunny, he’s all energy, light and sunshine. So, go to Burning Man, go to Bora Bora, ( come to Milwaukee, TeeHee). But, put all that happiness and joie de vie in the CD.

  14. milwlovesadam says:

Random thought: Driving to work today I heard Adele’s “Someone Like You” on the radio in prime time. Probably because she sang it at the awards show last week to “introduce” it to the public.

It is a lovely and emotional ballad.

All I could think was, Yay, now Adam can have a ballad on the radio too. This song is pure vocals and a piano. That’s it. The DJ said afterwards just one word. “Lovely.”

We all know that Adele will be sweeping the Grammy’s. So, will a later release take him away from competing with her? This could be very savvy on our boys’ part.

  15. jlurksacto says:

Sam Adams Cherry Wheat down in the basement fridge

Good choice for the price. Don’t know about shelf life tho. Have some
Lambic Belgian Kriek cherry beer at $6.50/12oz bottle that’s good but Sam Adams@ $6.50 a six pack – good. Cher – wasn’t party to convo with firemen so am innocent. First I heard of

    “Oh, must be women.”

Would have taken blame for not noticing cross streets. Was fun anyway.

  16. luval says:

Thanks for your list mils! Smile

eta: btw…if Adam wants to put on another Glam Nation-ish type show to hold us over again, I have no problem with that! After all, he misses the stage… so he told us in Ste. Agathe.

mils…I love that “damn you Mayans” comment!

Reading Idol blogs is very educational. I just learned about Google Trends to compare visibility of Adam and Kris.
    Results didn’t disappoint me…. Smile
I need more popcorn after reading Adam’s thread.

  18. turquoisewaters says:

I have to say I started this Monday morning down in the dumps over the news of the delay. Do I like to wait another 3 months? Obviously not. But really, if it somehow meant the album had higher success chances, I would not mind one bit. It just really freaks the mama hen in me out that there might be issues with RCA and that sales might be impacted. It is hard for me to gauge how strongly his fan base will come through and how patient they are.
So now a lot is riding on that single, and I H O P E they choose wisely this time. Can you feel my angst??? Sorry, I obviously need more chocolate in my life.
ETA: I sound so over-invested. Relax.

  19. TLKC says:

I’m terribly disappointed about the delay in the cd, though I think it’s good for the single to precede the cd by about 3 months so that they can build expectations with a solid single (or re-group if it doesn’t take off.) That’s what the labels have been doing this year.

I didn’t read Eber’s tweet bout “defending your gut” as signs of a major dispute. The tweet came after a listening party at Adam’s house and Adam was obviously asking for reactions and feedback. The group was very small – immediate family – which meant Adam could be totally honest about his likes, dislikes, changes, possible do-overs etc.

There is a natural creative tension to finalizing a cd. It’s a collaborative effort and all parties will have strong opinions: which songs are going on to the cd, which song will be the single, the order of songs, the arrangement or pace of a key song. Adam is at that stage at the moment. Not necessarily a biggie.

As for timing – all the top 10-ers who make good copy, like Katie Perry, Rihanna, Beyonce and Bieber went out this spring. The fall isn’t a cake-walk but the competition is milder than it was in 2009 so I don’t see the postponement as a big plus. On the other hand, maybe the spring will be quiet, too.

All I know is: there’s no Adam cd in my Christmas stocking…

DITTO on the mayans comment, luval. I would definitely be on for a road trip if Adam decides to throw a few concerts out there. Not until Ron gets his passport sorted out, though.

Has Q3 given her take on things over on another site? Her viewpoint is usually interesting.

  23. luval says:

Hi kradamour…I was thinking exactly what you said…about Q3. Went to the site several times today and nothing. It is odd because she is very very insightful about situations like this. Maybe it’s taking awhile for her to get her thoughts together. Smile

  24. jlurksacto says:

Think Q3 is traveling – working.

  25. luval says:

Thanks, jlurksacto…Then we’ll hear from her when things settle down. Am anxious to get her thoughts.

I completely agree, TLKC. We can drive ourselves silly with speculation, and it’s all too easy to assume the worst. In reality, Eber may be encouraging Adam to “defend his gut” about any number of things large or small, and the reason for an early 2012 release could be due to any number of reasons, good or bad or indifferent, related to Adam’s pace, related to label/management issues, related to strategy, who knows. I’m going to do my best to remain zen about this, trust the process, and not overinterpret “hints.”

The hardest part will be waiting longer for that new music that I’m craving so much. I’ve decided, however, that the upside is that I’ll get more done this fall because I won’t be spending all of my free time on album-related stuff (I’ll just be spending it on single/video/promo-related stuff! ). LOL Wink

  31. nkd says:

I have wine and cheese but no new music for a listening! Frown
    Maybe more wine! Wink

  32. nkd says:

    Haha!

    bloobyglam Blooby Glamb
some of us @adamlambert fans are like the sherrif on TRUEBLOOD hooked on V; our V is Adam’s music, hence the crankiness when we have to wait

  33. nkd says:

My opinion, which isn’t worth much, is that everything depends on the music. If the single(s) are hits that sell and get radio play, the album will do well regardless of the release date. According to everyone that has commented on the content, it should be great!
But I still want it sooner than later. Like now! Wink
    Nobody asked me though!

  34. milwlovesadam says:

Absinthe is making a comeback. I read it somewhere. And, I do believe, when served it is greenish.

Anywhoo, I guess we’re all in wait mode. Again. Maybe he will do some kind of show again in the meantime.

  35. milwlovesadam says:

nkd: what’s your opinion? I’m asking. Smile

  36. HK fan says:

I was disappointed when I first saw this. But I’m sure there are valid reasons behind it. There’s been a lot of stuff happening at RCA and they seem to have pushed back the release dates on several artists, and now changing management, maybe they need more time to put all their promo plans in motion. Its a shame he’ll miss the christmas sales, but for all those that were going to buy the album as gifts, just make a ‘IOU an adam cd’ voucher, and buy it for them later. Adeles album was released in Feb, didn’t do her any harm!
And at least we still have a new single coming up with hopefully a video, lots of tv appearances etc.

  37. nkd says:

Thank you mils, but what I actually meant was that no one asked me when to release the album! Smile

Maybe we just need more wine, margaritas and some greens!
    And eggplant! Wink

  38. JOJOSIE says:

I have lots of opinions NKD and no one ever asks me either. I do get e-mails daily from The Meaning of Adam Lambert and usually check them out to see if they have anything new to add. I couldn’t believe the one I got at 7:31 am this morning. They have a entry on their site named Reflections on The Meaning of Adam Lambert, or CHILL FOLKS. Its humorus and yet kind of sad. Talk about S**t hitting the fan. I love Adam but it’s his life. Maybe with age comes patience.

  39. nkd says:

I did read that entry today jojosie, and I want what is best for Adam and did not mean anything otherwise. I’m just being goofy, with all of this serious talk today about what everything means. But yeah, I would like it now, but I can and will wait as long as it takes, as long as I know it’s coming! Smile

  40. ultimathule says:

I’m dreaming of a new vid – maybe as much as of the music – lol.

  41. milwlovesadam says:

    Oooh. NKD. I love eggplant.

    Just sayin’.

  42. nkd says:

New song title! Eggplant and Laces!
    If anybody asks! Wink

Zebra Eggplant! Just suggestions. Yeah, I’d like some videos, too!

  43. turquoisewaters says:

My last thought on this: Adam has worked very hard to get where he is at in his professional life. But he has also lived enough to value his private life. Right now, he might feel a bit squeezed by the demands of all parties involved, fans included. I hope he can have it all, and I wish him the best making choices and compromises that will make him happy in the long run.

  44. turquoisewaters says:

New song title! Eggplant and Laces!

Or album cover. Now that would create some WTF conversation.

  45. nkd says:

    Well said turquoisewaters. Smile

ETA I was referring to the previous post, but goes for the second one too! Wink

  46. turquoisewaters says:

nkd: I was just wondering about that. You have that rare talent to draw the conversation back to the truly important things in life.

  47. nkd says:

Why thank you, I try! Grin

  48. Kradamour says:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to nekkid, another virgo sister!
May your next 29 years be even better than the first 29! Grin Big hugs from Virginia, where the maid’s room is ready for you whenever you like!

  49. adamized says:

Happy Birthday dear ndk, happy birthday to you! It looks like you won’t have any weather-related time continuim issues to allow you to skip a year so happy 30th to YOU!

I read through many of the comments on MJs last night regarding Adam’s timing for the album. I have always found Tess to be a reasonable and knowledgable poster. Her calm musings regarding timing of singles and albums have given me an appreciation for allowing singles to lead the way for a new album. I hope she is right and I hope BB hits it out of the ballpark with the single. I so want to get to the point where I can roll my eyes and say enough already with that song when it comes on the radio every ten minutes.

Kradamour I had forgotten about the third part of Adam’s life and the work/time it takes to keep a relationship healthy as well as the desire to just be with the person you love. Plan, Love, Create…right?

  50. asifclueless says:

    HAPPY 29th BIRTHDAY ..nkd!!!
