As October begins, Adam has just announced the official radio add date (October 8) for Trespassing, which is the title track and the third U.S. single from his album of the same name. A Trespassing EP with a radio edit and album remixes will also be available on October 16. After limited success for the first two singles from Trespassing, Adam likely needs this third single to be a hit in order to continue onward with the Trespassing era, at least here in the United States.
After an October 13th concert date in Australia, Adam will return to the U.S. for a pair of dates during the second half of the month, on October 17th at the Arizona State Fair in Phoenix, and on October 29th at the Texas Tango radio concert in Grand Prarie. Confused about the INROCK mags.
Have the issue (Sept.?) with One Direction on the cover and Adam and Queen pics (with pullout) inside.
Went to order the November issue, but see there is also an October issue (Green Day on cover) that said there are pics of Adam inside.
Did anyone get this October issue? Wondering if I should get that, too.
Actually, didn’t see the November issue listed yet – will have to go back and look.

Oh riskylady I do indeed remember! I was actually at that show and witnessed the shoulders, tank top, and spiky shorts with my very own eyes. He was a sight to behold!
There is something about the way that his shoulders are so broad, strong, and erect (yep, I said it), without being too muscle-bound, that is very appealing.

Yep, cwm, that would be burned in memory forever. I think his posture and bearing have a lot to do with it, plus there’s a certain curvature of the shoulders. They are muscular yet slender. (I could go on and on about this……) Drool is the appropriate reaction.

Wish there were a calendar with these pics. I have a number of tech-savvy relatives who could probably do that, but don’t want them to think I’m completely insane.
There was another great “shoulder” pic – it was on a beach deck (with TJ, I think) during 2010. He had a fedora-type hat on and a deep-V-neck, sleeveless top. His upper body is broad to encase those incredible lungs, I would presume.
Just had a thought … imagine how those spiky shorts would look with that new spiky jacket that Adam got as a present from the 80s talkshow!! Along with those black tights and the high leather boots? LOL now that would be an ensemble. Actually I don’t put it past Adam to wear that combo someday…

Ulti, I remember that photo. It was on a balcony of a hotel in Cabo and Tommy was also in the shot. (Taylor and Sutan were also on the trip.) I remember thinking how wonderfully broad Adam’s chest was. That is the most skin that we have ever seen, I think.

jlurksacto way to make a person feel bad…. I just wrote “lovely” letter to ground control after receiving my UPS tracking note informing me that my ticket will arrive on October 19th!!! A full 2 days after the concert. I’m so happy I paid over $10/pc for the absolutely splendid way they have handled shipping and processing. Though I am sure we will be able to get into the show, it is still really frustrating and nerve wracking for no good reason that I can tell. Sorry for the early morning whine.

This is almost identical to what I experienced going to Ste.-Agathe. I went to Quebec with no ticket in my hand and it’s not a good feeling. (Side note: when I returned home, my ticket arrived the day after I left!)
In my case, I printed out my PayPal receipt as proof of purchase, showed them that in Ste.-Agathe and they gave me a ticket. It couldn’t have been easier. I put myself through a lot of worry for nothing.
I was anxious though before I had that ticket in my hot little hand so I know how you feel!

After months of being well, feeling fine, Gil had his second infection due to COPD. A trip to his doctor, antibiotics and a couple of days rest and, as of today, he’s fine.
In fact, he’s out right now because he wants to buy a Crock Pot. I told him he already has a Crock Pot … me.
He said, “I know … but I want to get another one”.
Anyway, I mention all this because he really wasn’t up to or just didn’t feel like watching my video with the “orb”. So I showed it to him for the first time this morning about a half hour ago.
I had to explain to him what an orb is or what the theories are as to what they might be by groups of people. When I mentioned “Guardian Angel”, he was quick to ask, “Yours or mine?!”
After he watched the clip, his reaction was immediate: “Wup! Hmmm. Well I know why it appeared to you”.
“Why?”
“It’s telling you to Shut Up!! Stop singing!!”

Guardian angels…I do have one more story. I never really believed in guardian angels.
But a few years ago, I had a sudden and life-threatening medical situation – but it was a Friday night, about 11 pm, and going to the emergency room in my urban hospital seemed like a fruitless endeavor. Generally, Friday night is the night when the waiting room is full of chaos: knifings, overdoses, general mayhem…
But I didn’t really have an alternative, so we went to the ER. It was silent and empty, except for one slightly shabby older man sitting alone who looked up and smiled at me, the way one smiles at someone one recognizes, a warm “glad to see you” smile. I checked in at the desk, and turned to look again at the waiting room – I still couldn’t believe that it was so empty! – and he was gone.
During the course of the testing, many serendipitous things happened. Looking back at the circumstances, it was unlikely that the diagnosis would have been accurate had the ER been busy. Several doctors over the course of the next weeks told me that I was very, very fortunate.
I believe that he was my guardian angel.
Had to laugh, mils, at your “list” of Adam’s agenda in NZ! and it probably isn’t too much exaggerated…and he did all that on jetlag!
Yup, alien indeed. No human could do that and keep his beautiful smile…

I’m just like a lot of you here, I overslept this morning. It’s the first cold and dreary day here this fall. We are getting some much needed rain, but, I slept until 9:00. Haven’t slept that late in a long, long time. Missed my WW meeting too. Dammit.
Oh well, if we can’t do yardwork today, guess I’ll need something to do indoors. Hmmm.

So, hubby and I had an errand to run after over-sleeping. I had our classic rock station playing, and Queen was on. Freddie was singing “…find me…oh.. can anybody find me somebody to love? ”
I just don’t even know how to say this.
Adam’s interpretation and performances were better. He out-did Freddie. I’m not saying that because of my love of Adam. He just sang it harder, better phrasing,and with more vocal nuance. Even hubby noticed the difference. He said, “that’s not Adam, is it? It doesn’t sound as good.” It was a “wow” moment for me.
Ha, mils, Hubby and I AGREE with you. We had a similar experience at Five Guys on Thursday. They always have Sirius rock on, and played in succession the original Zeppelin WLL and then Queen WWRY. In BOTH cases, hubby said to me that he likes Adam’s voice and interpretation better. And I especially love how he sings Somebody to Love, Radio Gaga, AOBTD, I Want It All and …..well, just about everything. I’ll give Freddie a slight edge with BoRhap, and he had great stage presence. I agree, he’s a legend and a GREAT songwriter, but I’ve even seen a few non-glambert comments on YouTubes lately saying that Adam’s a better singer.
Stage presence: Adam has it in spades, although what he wears can have an effect. In the GNT, the costumes had an effect like Freddie’s costumes, they magnified his presence. When Adam wears all black, or dark colors, it definitely tones down his presence (and maybe that’s what he wanted for the first outings with Queen). I hope for his tour he goes for some bright colors and lots of pzazz! and DANCING!

I really enjoyed this! Life long Queen fan here and no one in my opinion tops Freddie with their music BUT I agree Adam’s voice is technically more smooth and versatile. Again, I really believe he is the only person that has EVER been able to do Quuen’s music justice. Yes, I was one of those Queen snobs. Not anymore.

This makes me so happy.
I don’t know from Queen, except what I have watched/learned since Adam did Queenbert.
So I’m late to the party.
And as a late-to-the-party Queenbert, I don’t have the right to offer much of an opinion.
But hearing Freddy M (in vids) for the first time at the same time that I heard Adam…here are my thoughts, for what they are worth.
On the one hand, it is apples and oranges: Freddy did not (as far as I know) have a trained voice, and it shows. His voice had a natural power, and he pulled out all the stops and gave one hell of a show.
Had he been trained, he might have put even Adam to shame.
And there was a grittiness to his voice and his phrasing, that likely was born from his harder life and challenges that Adam never had to face, including (but not limited to) the concealment of his real self in a much more homophobic world.
Adam’s voice is trained. He knows better than Freddie did how to wrap us up in that voice to bring us with him where the song takes him and he takes the song.
And Adam has always been loved, has always been supported, and even though he has certainly had his share of setbacks and angst, his life has been much easier than Freddie’s, and that shows, too.
Music saved Freddie from a rougher world and perhaps also from himself.
Music for Adam is his charm, but not his salvation. The grittiness had to be replaced with something else, and Adam has the something else – and I won’t even try to define that here, but it is more than enough.
I think it is impossible to say that Adam is better than Freddie; or that Freddie is better than Adam. Apples and oranges. Personal taste, likely colored by personal experiences with the music. Perhaps liking one better today, and the other tomorrow, depending on one’s state of mind.
What makes me happy, though – and what I hope for everyone! is for traditional Queen fans to be open to the fact that Adam is not an also-ran, a second-best, a merely adequate substitute for Freddie so that Queen can continue to perform.
Adam is neither replacement nor substitute for Freddie. He is, in every way, both collaborator and contributor to Queen and their music.
There is no reason for any Queen fan to reject what Queen embraces.
Love that line dance! Couldn’t keep my eyes off the guy on the right with the beanie. He didn’t miss a step. He looked like a biker, not a line dancer. (no offense to bikers lol).
Wonder if they’ve actually seen Adam singing it.
Kradamour your musings are well taken. However, I do believe that at least some of Freddie’s grit in his voice was due to his chain smoking and drug use. He lived a much grittier life, as it were. He was known to have “perfect pitch”, and indeed did have vocal training, when young, especially in school choirs. He lived a closeted/uncloseted life. He was out to everyone including the media. His “I’m as queer as a daffodil, dear” quote was from one of his first ever interviews in the UK. That the media chose not to dwell on the gay was open minded on their part at the time, and worked out in Queen’s favor as far as sales and publicity.
But, Freddie was out. Very very out, in his dress, in his antics, and in his life. His last few years of living with AIDS and keeping it a secret, yielded some of his best music.
So, my view is that Adam is the better singer, in his own way. But, Freddie was a much better songwriter. Adam is a fantastic lyricist/poet. None of really knows yet how he stacks up as a songwriter. He has only put out collaborations. When he has solo credit on a song for music and lyrics, then we will know.
I am also very happy to hear that some Queen die-hards are recognizing Adam’s talent.
aely, that mashup is brilliant. Reminds me of Adam describing Freddie’s voice in an NPR interview, that his voice just “grabs” the music. So true, and clearly the greatest rock frontman ever. (Lifelong Queen fan here too.)
The other thing it reminds me of is how I would love to see Adam in some little white shorts! I think the whole front half of the audience would just keel over like a forest from a volcano blast LOL.
I don’t remember if Freddie was ever considered a sex-symbol? If not, maybe that made it more comfortable for him to wear revealing things.
Adam, who is regarded as a sex-symbol, maybe wears those layers as a sort of shield. Imagine, if he did the moves/graphic antics from GNT with little white shorts? He’s more dancey, too….would be tooooo provocative and take away from the vocals to the point of distraction.
Dunno, riskylady, I don’t think any male person ever needs to be seen in little white shorts. Just saying. I have seen images of Freddie in the little white shorts and it was pretty cringe-worthy – at least, IMHO.
Freddie’s outfits were a sign of the times! Shorts were short. Running shorts for both men and women were short. Tennis shorts for men were short. And fashion in the UK was always more trendy than here. And, for men like Freddie and Elton John, they were willing to be flamboyant at a time when nobody else was. When Boy George and Adam Ant showed up, the precedent had already been set!! It didn’t make them any less controversial, just not “first.”
I don’t ever see Adam being as bare on stage as Freddie was. The deep scoopy necked sleeveless shirt from St Agathe and Poland is as bare as we’ll ever see our guy. A peek between a shirt and the laces, or bare feet. That’s all folks.
Oh. Maybe a knee between boots and shorts. LOL
Krad, just a few days ago we were all swooning about Adam in a long shirt and his underwear (the foto taken in Japan that we will probably NEVER see). I was just comparing Freddie’s outfit in that mashup while singing Queen to “what-if-Adam-decided-to-dress-like-Freddie” while singing Queen. I may have to go to the corner because of the visual…….
I think the long shirt and underwear would be infinitely sexier, btw.

Did you ever surf the tv and see the basketball players from the 70’s & 80’s with those short shorts! LOL LOL!!! Can’t believe those were acceptable attire! They look so hilarious now. Actually the loooooong baggy shorts the boys wear these days look ridiculous too. I swear some look like skirts but they think they are hip.

I’ve been thinking about dancers.
With all respect for peeps who want dancers…I think I am over them.
They were necessary for his “glam” record, and they definitely worked as “filler” for such a thin set of songs.
But for Trespassing? I think the backup singers fill that slot very nicely, providing movement on the stage, and Adam works a stage so beautifully that I really haven’t missed dancers on any of the performances I have seen this year. The stage seems very full.
And dancers cost $$$.
I also think that Adam needed dancers on his first tour simply as a group to hang with, his gypsy band. This time? Not so much, maybe, especially if Sauli can join the tour from time to time.
Having dancers on stage wouldn’t keep me from a concert, of course! but I wouldn’t miss them and I’d just as soon Adam save his money.
I have a few Queen songs on my ipod, but since having seen Adam perform them, I tend to skip them. When they come up on shuffle I start listening, then think, no…there’s something missing, something not quite right. I just prefer Adams voice …and I have never found Freddie sexy.
