Well, fall has arrived and it’s time for our October chat thread. This is the sixth monthly chat we’ve had on the site. Thought about using a Burning Man photo for this month, but decided to continue with the Adam getting awards theme with this photo of Adam and Leila at the 2nd annual PFLAG National LA Event.

Still hoping for a new single sometime soon, but maybe not this month. Enjoy the chat!

So Scotty didn’t outsell Adam after all, even though he debuted at number #1 due to the lack of competition.
THIS IS MY LAST POST ON THAT TOPIC.
Eywflyer, congrats on creating great and now well known site!!! Does it mean that from now on I have to think twice before I post my stuff? Rolls Eyes

  2. asifclueless says:

    Congratulations!!! … eywflyer.
So this site is global now.

Can I still tell jokes? Rolls Eyes

I am just sitting here thinking how skeered I am when Adams album comes out, he gets thrown in the mix now when other Idols albums come out, just wait till James comes out! Anyhow how are we all going to stay sane, he can sell a million the first week and that wont be good enough, how are we going to be able to brag about his great album( you know it will be, I know it) without all the backlash and comparisons. I really want to read all the comments, but I am so nervous about this.

But at least when I am here, we all will be praising the darn thing, I dont have to worry. Remember Adam can sing Twinkle Little Star, or Who let the Dogs out, Who Who, lol and we will all think he should be nominated for a Grammy, ROTFL!!!!

  4. asifclueless says:

    Krads and ultimathule,
    Your oatmeal sounds delish!!!

Ha ha.. Guess what I brought back from the States?
I brought back boxes and boxes of Quaker intant oatmeal (with varieties) and instant grits. It’s easy for me just to pop it in the microwave. Before I always skipped breakfast.

    Why grits?
I love grits. I had a peace corps volunteer teacher from New Orleans who introduced grits and gumbo to us. Now, whenever I go to the States I have to have grits and gumbo.
    Yum!!! Grin

  5. nkd says:

I found this on AQD. Important stuff! Wink

  6. nkd says:

asif, I grew up with grits and gumbo. I love them both. However I’m very particular about my gumbo! Sure do wish I knew how to make it. I’ve asked several people whose gumbo I’ve enjoyed, but no tips.
    Cheese grits, my favorite!

  7. asifclueless says:

    Thanks .. nkd.

    Great song and glorious mane.
The first photo with feather is breathtaking.

  8. asifclueless says:

    nkd,

In New Orleans, my friend took me to her friend’s house for dinner. This friend of hers married to a Cajun (sp?) who had a restaurant.
I had the best Cajun dinner there. Many dishes that I didn’t know but I was adventerous. Seafood gumbo, crawfish, boudins (sausages with mixed meat and blood?!?)
I had it all, with wine, of course. Grin

  9. JOJOSIE says:

Asifclueless, how did you remember I have a March birthday? The album release the middle of March would be a great birthday present seeing as it’s a milestone one for me. I never thought I reach 80 when I was young. I don’t feel that old and people tell me I don’t act or look it either. I should tweet ADam and suggest the middle of March. He just tweeted that he was putting finishing touches on a potential single, and it had a real beat. Go Adam, we need music now.

  10. Oksana2000 says:
  11. asifclueless says:

Oh .. another thing that I like is beingue (sp?). It’s like a doughnut that they deep fry and sprinkle it with powder sugar. We ate it with thick, black, and strong coffee.

  12. asifclueless says:

JOJOSIE, of course, I know my fellow Pisces. I think we flailed and squeed about something at that time.

I also know that you love James Durbin.
I like James, too. I have a soft spot for him because my good friend has an aspie son. He is the same age as James.

I have known this boy since he was a baby. Now he’s a junior at college. He’s doing a lot better than his sibblings, but his social skill is zero. When we get together, I would say hi to him, he would nod his head and then stayed by himself.

Last year, he surprised me. I rang his mother and he answered the phone. He kept talking and talking to me. It was the longest time I ever had a conversation with him. I guess it’s easier for him to talk on the phone rather to face to face.

So, as an asper, James has come a long way.
I wish him well and all the success.

  13. ultimathule says:

Well, Oksana, your post at the top of this page has me sitting here with my second grin this morning – like the cat that ate the canary. Sorry to those more generous than I, but I am dancing around the room.

Oksana, OMG that Greek Adam vid is so funny/strange/amazing! Who would even think of that? and it works so well!

Tweet about single…wonder if the fake CDs put a fire under our boy? If so, it’s all good.

But that homage to the hair…dayum. Such gorgeousness…a whole vid of head shots…I think that there was even a pic there that I hadn’t seen before. Better go back and watch it a few hundred more times to be sure….thanks, nekkid!

  22. riskylady says:

Hahaha, the Greek vid, the Hair vid – Adam fans are so industrious and creative! Love them – they keep us “entertained” while we wait.
Oh, Oksana, Ultimathule, joining you in the dance around the room (we are doing it to the imaginary BEAT of Adam’s first single, right?)
I’ll take some NUTS with my eggplant, thank you!

Does anyone remember a GREAT Strut video from Glam Nation? I want to send it to my brother who I think would love it. (not the Greek thing LOL).

  24. Calgary says:

Queen revival band! I was listening to the radio today and heard Somebody to Love, and thought “hey, is that Freddie? No I don’t think so, but sure is close!” Then I found out that Queen drummer Roger Taylor is trying to organize a tribute touring band –
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9EydYP4Pc8&NR=1
and that one of the guys’ auditions on YT has had more than 4 million hits! That’s more than twice as many as Kradam’s We are the Champions. Here it is:

    Monte’s take:

    http://montepittman.com/beg-for-mercy/

This is very nicely written from Monte’s heart. After reading the comments afterwards, I hope from the bottom of MY heart that this issue does not put a strain on the relationship between Adam and Monte.

  28. ultimathule says:

Can understand Monte’s situation. Too bad Welsford? decided to release this “album” now and emphasizing Adam and not Citizen Vein. W’s duplicity (and greed) is what created this problem – sad.

  29. nkd says:

Thanks jlurksacto for the Monte link.
I think everyone should decide for themselves whether to buy or not, and not be judged either way. The shady timing of these releases is what bugs me. I would love to have great recordings of the CV songs, but am not sure that I will buy it.

  30. nkd says:

asif, yes, beignets, are a delightful powdery treat! Powdered sugar gets up your nose, all over your face and everywhere else. Or is that just me?!! Smile

  31. riskylady says:

I can see how Adam would be more viscerally upset about these two albums – they are directly timed to sponge off his new album, just as they did with Take One. Plus, he might feel that his artistic expression as a singer is misrepresented, and he’s definitely going in a different direction with his songwriting too.
On the other hand, Monte only played as an instrumentalist on the albums, and the CV songs aren’t that far from his current style, so I guess he’s still pretty happy with them. I have a feeling they would respect each other’s position, but Adam still doesn’t seem to want us buying them.
I already heard all these songs, so not going to.

  32. glambotgram says:

Monte’s write up seems nice but I’m not buying it. This is a cheap underhanded way for these people to profit of all of Adam’s hard work. I understand that he did these studio recordings and signed off on them but I can’t understand why he can’t at least keep them from using his picture and his name to sell something he is getting no payment from. I’m amazed that Monte said to buy it, I’m wondering if there has been some tension since Lisa had her tweet meltdown a while back.

  33. asifclueless says:

    nkd,
Are you sure we’re talking about the same powder? j/k!! Wink

  34. nkd says:

luval…I say go with the New Orleans Strut, since you were there, the performance is set in that theme and it was a great performance.(And we’ve been talking southern and Cajun food today!)
Our own suz’s vid from NO.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfCHoA4d57c

  35. nkd says:

asif, I know what I’m talking about, I’m not sure about what you’re talking about! Grin

  36. ultimathule says:

The timing just bugs the hell out of me.

  37. dcglam says:

I understand and agree with all of what you are saying. My biggest concern is still with the Adam/Monte relationship. Some peeps may (and do) disagree with me, but I feel that Monte is the one member of Adam’s band who would be the most difficult to replace. This whole thing makes me so sad because Adam and Monte go way back together, and I can tell that Monte thinks the world of Adam and vice versa.

  38. ultimathule says:

What should then be Monte’s reaction to this release since Adam doesn’t like the recordings or the timing? It’s obviously exploitative of Adam. These tracks would never have been released except for Adam’s success (which he did on his own). Should a friend stand by and let this happen?

  39. luval says:

Thanks for the Strut options, nkd. I must have watched 30 of them. So far Nokia LA strut by Goatiegarden is the best. I wanted a video where you can see his whole body! Many of them are from the knees up. I remember there was one where the videos were done from the first row balcony somewhere. I think it was suz526. But I’ll probably go with Nokia.

  40. HK fan says:

Hong Kong star Hall GNT, I was there…….my only show. A girlfriend brought me the ticket for my birthday and came with me. She’d liked him on Idol so was keen to see him too, and loved it. she stood next to me the whole show going, omg, omg, he gorgeous….Star Hall is quite a nice size, not too big, about 3600 capacity, and I think it was sold out. Standing in the middle and seating around 3 sides. Concert was due to start at 8 (note, nothing starts on time in HK),we sat outside people watching until 7.45, got into a good position opposite Montes side table about 10 feet from the front. The crowd was great. very vocal, lots of late teens and 20’s, lots of men. Adam was amazing, couldn’t take my eyes off him, his stage presence is unbelievable, we didn’t get the kiss but it didn’t matter. Need to see him again, as everyone says once is not enough. If I’d known then what I know now, I would have gone to Manila and KL….

    p.s what are grits?

  41. HK fan says:

    pps.
going to Star Hall tonight to see The Human League.

  42. jlurksacto says:

Should a friend stand by and let this happen?

Neither Adam nor Monte have ANY control of the timing/release of this
    collection of songs.

  43. dcglam says:

    ITA, ultimathule…
Like I mentioned above, I agree with all that has been said. I have no answers. It just saddens me that this might possibly affect a working relationship and friendship. I’m hoping that these two guys are strong enough to not let that happen. That is all.

  44. asifclueless says:

    @adamlambert:
Its NOT what I’m currently working on, nor does it reflect my artistic vision. Some folks will do anything to make a buck. Fuck.

This is my bible so I’ll follow it.
I won’t buy it. It doesn’t have to do anything with Monte or other musicians.

It’s the unethical Wilsford guy. Who would want to encourage this kind of behaviour!
He’ll do it again and again whenever Adam releases his new album.

Where was he and where did he hide these songs 5 years ago when Adam needed a break!!!

    Sorry, I’m cross now.

Well !!! We all are 29, except JOJOSIE, so we’ll decide it for ourselves.

Now, lets listen to Adam’s infectious laughs again. Grin

    http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart_watch/74422/week-ending-oct-9-2011-albums-beam-me-up/

    Love this part! Smile

McCreery’s album sold 197K copies this week. That’s the biggest first-week tally for a first post-Idol album by an Idol winner since Cook’s eponymous album sold 284K in its first week three years ago. But McCreery was edged out by the most prominent runner-up of recent years. Adam Lambert’s For Your Entertainment sold 198K copies in its first week in 2009.

BTW asifclueless and jojosie, I’m a Pisces too..born in February. Smile

  46. ultimathule says:

The Strut at Red Robinson is still one of my favorites. There’s a line in the song about “show me whatcha workin’ with” and one comment under the youtube said, “I know what YOU’RE working’ with.” One of my very favorite pairs of pants. Swear they were painted on. Whoooeeee.

  47. asifclueless says:

    nkd,

Whenever I have grits I think of Flo (or the other girl) from Mel’s Diner… “Kiss my grits!!!”

Oh.. may be you’re too young to know this.

    What are grits?

A kind of grain .. hominy?
    Can someone answer?

    HK fan,

In the movie “My Cousin Vinney”, one scene in the court room, Vinney questioned a witness about how long would it take to boil some grits. It was hilarious.

  48. luval says:

Thanks for that post from Yahoo, cher.

Never heard of him but a gentleman named Frank Hameny passed away. He was the originator of the gay rights movement. He lived to see National Coming Out day. He was 86.

  49. nkd says:

    p.s what are grits?

Grits are a coarsely ground corn or hominy which are cooked in water to make a porridge type consistency. They can be eaten sweet or savory. I like them with butter and sugar, or like I said earlier cheese grits are my favorite. Also garlic and cheese is good! I don’t have them very often, but I sure do want some now after talking about them all day! Smile
HKfan, have a great time at the concert!

  50. nkd says:

    It was Flo!
