I love Peking duck. One of our first meals out after arriving in HK many years ago, was to a huge chinese restaurant in Aberdeen. We ordered the Peking duck, and it came with no meat, just the crispy skin. well it was delicious, but we spent the rest of the meal moaning about how expensive it was just for some skin, and where;s the rest of the duck we paid for. It turned up at the end of the meal in a whole other dish with vegetables that we hadn’t asked for….we had to take it home in a doggy bag!

So quiet here, hope everyone enjoyed their thanksgiving dinners.
It seems that I’m going to have to move the site to another hosting service, as my current one has become intolerably slow. I’ve done everything I can to improve things but the server itself seems to be having a lot of problems. Online reviews indicate that my current hosting company has been going downhill recently due to packing too many sites on each server.
Due to the nature of the Domain Name Service (which directs traffic for each particular website name to the actual physical server on which it is located), there will likely be a period of time, up to 24 hours, when the site will either be not accessible, or you will be seeing an “orphaned” version of the site on the old server. Eventually, and the timing will vary in different parts of the world but should not exceed 24 hours, everyone will be directed to the new location of the site.
During the transition period, any comments posted on the old/orphaned version of the site will not make it over to the new site location. I will let everyone know when that transition period begins and ends.
So that people know which version of the site they are viewing during the transition period, I will change the site byline (the text right below “adamlambertlive” up top) on the new site to say “a new unofficial Adam Lambert fan site”.

The top 2000 for this year in the Netherlands has been announced, and as usual, since 1976 (when it was still the top 100) Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen takes the top spot. Only twice in all those years there was a different number one. Cool, no?
One other huge contender every year is ‘Child in Time’ by Deep Purple – a song I have secretly hoped Adam might sing. Since I’ve never met a North-American who is familiar with this last song I’m giving a link here. It’s a live performance in 1970 and the audience is quite interesting. Especially if you compare them to Adam’s audiences. Well, except at MB, I guess.

Thanksgiving was catered and I am grateful to caterers (hi, cher!) who lose some of their holidays to make so many others happy and satiated.
I loved the comments by other articulate peeps about being thankful for this site, for eywflyer, for each other, and for all of the positiveness that has been brought into our lives by Adam. I’ll just say “Yes! Me too!”.
Did all my black friday shopping online this year. Never left the house, got better deals than in the stores with promo codes, and … blah. Not nearly as much fun. I don’t usually buy much on black friday any longer, the kids are grown and sometimes I think that we just don’t need a single other thing, but I did enjoy the energy and camaraderie of the dark morning waits with strangers. And the big greasy cholesterol-laden breakfast afterward in a chain restaurant that shall remain nameless but if you live in the American midwest you probably know what I am talking about… ”

We bought an artificial Christmas tree and I have such mixed feelings about that…the first in my 29 years. But we are getting too
oldbusy to deal with a 9 foot real tree. I feel as though it is the end of an era. Oh, well.mils, I noted your comment about Adam’s new “technique” and it made me nervous even before I read your comment as a professional. Young men always think that they are immortal. I do hope that he continues to work with a coach.
Ron, you would be the person to ask about this. Is it common for even trained professional performers to continue to work with a voice coach at least intermittently through their careers?

I worked at a high intensity hospital today, and was talking with this fabulous nurse about music, and seemed to have a lot in common….so I steered the convo to Idol…yada yada….who was your favorite? And, YESSS it was Adam! I swear I didn’t start fangirling, SHE did! His voice! His stage presence! His wardrobe! He’s sooo gorgeous! He’s soooooooooo sexy!
So, I start getting a little ( I controlled myself, after all I was at work ) excited. I ask if she has been following him, nope. I ask if she has his new CD? Nope. I ask if she knows about Queenbert? Nope. I ask her if she would think I was, well, weird, if I told her about my fandom? Nope. Not at all.
So, I casually tell her I have met him. She almost keeled over. So, I shared my photos with her, and then showed her a couple of mlg’s posters from Hawaii,. and she was positively swooning. She pointed at one salacious picture and said, “” Oh, now THAT’s for me!! She’s buying the CD tonight, we exchanged emails, and she has not one, but two friends who also just love him. She’s
40, 29, like us.She told me that when he was on Idol, she absolutely stopped functioning on Tuesdays so she could watch him. I shared my story of taking a class that I dropped because I just couldn’t miss him live. We just giggled. ( How old am I? Oh yeah, 29. ). But,alas, she hasn’t kept up with him.
So, I’ll be emailing her some goodies. I told her to look out, and pour herself a large glass of something cold while she watches. Oh. This is gonna be fun. I’ll keep you all updated.

I helped bring another fan back to the fold at my office. We hired a new employee in our billing office recently. After about a month, she had to drop off something in my personal office for the first time and came across my Adam posters on the wall. (No patients go in there in case you were wondering.) She was really excited and told me how much she loves Adam. But was she aware of Trespassing or Queenbert? No. She’s also a major fan of Queen. So the next day I gifted her with a copy of Trespassing and the Kiev Queenbert DVD. She was so happy and says she has Trespassing on continuous replay in her car now. She also thinks I’m a wonderful person to work for, of course. (Don’t we sound like a bunch of missionaries? Haha!)

Interesting. Monte was the first one I thought of regarding the comment to “Sauce” in the earlier video. Monte was called “Uncle Soy Sauce” the last time they were touring in Asia. I thought no, it couldn’t be, but the comments made on the Lee Cherry website sure sounded friendly, if it was indeed the real Monte.
jlurks, you read my mind! I gifted one a couple of weeks ago, and haven’t heard feedback yet. He’s a wonderful man who loves both Queen and Adam, his partner is really cool and loves music. They both loved him on Idol and were aware of his advocacy. But had not kept up with Adam either. The next time I see him, I’ll ask for sure!
I have another “customer ” I’m not going to discuss here. And now my new baby Glambert. She’ll be getting my last copy soon, I can feel it.

apal123, welcome to our new server! It seems to be much faster so far, at least to me. Does it seem faster to you guys as well?
I’m going to try and update some of the site content such as the upcoming show list and the Trespassing map in the near future. The site access problems have been so severe on the old server that I haven’t been able to deal with anything else recently.
It may soon be time to reopen the Top 16 for new nominations as well!
I’m still looking around to see if there are any problems with the new site. Haven’t found any so far, but migrating a WordPress database is fairly tricky so I wouldn’t be surprised if something is broken somewhere. If you come across something here that doesn’t work right, please let me know via the contact site admins link.
One more tech note – I’m now running a “Super Cache” plugin on this site, that attempts to speed up the site and lessen the server load by delivering “cached” or stored versions of site webpages to viewers who are not logged in. If you are logged in, you should always see the latest version of any page here including the most recent comments. If you are not logged in however, you may see an older cached version that is missing some recent comments. Therefore it is best to view the site while logged in.

dcglam, its not called a subway in HK. its the MTR, short for mass transit railway, and is extremely clean and efficient, and cheap, and has wifi and phone access at all points unlike the tube in London, where we couldn’t even make a phone call…
Hope that doesn’t come across as too preachy, I just love HK, and like to tell people things about it.
