April was an exciting month, to say the least – news of sold-out Rock-in-Rio concert – great articles in Attitude and Notion magazines – many interviews – Ghost Town single and video release – and lots of angsting over Shazam/Spotify/iTunes/YT and how best to promote Adam, along with the “whistle” question – whodunit? This month may see Adam performing GT live on TV and moving his way up the radio charts. Should be a busy time before the album release on June 16!

    Spotify update: 2,614,070 streams! Big Smile

    Increase of 177k today! Going faster now.

    It has now passed Cuckoo and is his 8th most streamed song on Spotify. Next on the list is WWFM Live in Berlin, but that will take a while because that one has over 4,7 mil streams. At this rate that will take about 12 days to get there.

    The Viral lists aren’t updating for some reason. I’ll check back later.

    In the meantime Ghost Town has also risen to #31 on the Dutch Shazam Top 100 from #83 last week.

    How do you do the Shazam thing? Shazam it when it’s on the radio (not here in DC/VA/MD)? And how do you tag it #GhostTown? Have Shazam on my cellphone now. Thx anyone –

    ulti – when the song is playing (on the radio, on your computer, whatever), open the Shazam app on your phone, point it at the speakers where the song is playing, and press the large round Shazam icon, where it says “Touch to Shazam Music or TV.” Then Shazam will tell you the name of the song and the artist. That’s all there is to it! You can also tweet out your “discovery” of the song if you like and tag #GhostTown in your tweet.

    I really like Shazam. It’s a cool app. I use it a lot when I’m listening to the radio and I like the sound of an unfamiliar song and want to know the name of the song and the artist.

    Once you’ve Shazamed the song, you can also buy the song, stream it, see the lyrics, watch the video, open up interviews with the artist, etc. You can also go back and listen to all of the songs you’ve Shazamed, or listen to playlists on their “charts” tab.

    Try it! It’s super easy, useful, and fun. And it helps Adam too. Smile

    My breaking point with Idol came at the end of season eight. The show’s 2009 bench was astonishingly deep: the neo-Ne-Yo Anoop Desai, the sharp interpreter Megan Joy, the young spitfire Allison Iraheta. It even had its own villain in Danny Gokey, he of the scream and the smugness. Then there was Adam Lambert, the outré caterwauler whose reinventions of Johnny Cash and Led Zeppelin grabbed headlines, and who was clearly the best performer overall since Jennifer Hudson way back in season three. He lost to Kris Allen, an aw-shucks crooner whose undeniable talent and humble charm made him extremely endearing, and an obvious victor during any other year. But Lambert was the guy to make the cover of Rolling Stone post-finale, because he seemed like a rock star, like the apotheosis of the Idol dream: He went from dude with emo hair to soul singer with a political edge over the course of his season, stopping along the way to give EDM DJs sampling ideas. Allen and Lambert are both still making music, of course, but you can probably guess which one is working with Queen and Max Martin.

    I’ve found it very interesting to read all the articles about the demise of American Idol. They all echo my feelings about the glory days of AI ending with Adam’s loss in Season 8. Adam truly did break AI, and since then it’s been experiencing a painfully slow death. I’ll be glad to see it put out of its misery next year.

    I started watching AI in Season 2 and watched it devoutly through Season 10. After that I watched only select episodes (with Adam) and certain performances on YouTube. I watched just enough to keep up with what was going on, but lost my patience with the useless judges, the unexciting contestants and the endless commercials. No contestant was even remotely in the same league as Adam. My time was much better spent watching some Adam video on YouTube for the 100th time.

    But will I have fond memories of AI? Absolutely. I loved watching Seasons 2-8. They were great entertainment. Season 8 was, IMO, the best. The top ten was full of interesting personalities and talented performers. And then there was Adam….I will be eternally grateful to AI for bringing Adam into our lives and giving him the opportunity to showcase his extraordinary talent. Adam has enriched my life in so many ways, including bringing us all together here as friends. So, thanks AI. You just should have the left the party a little sooner.

    So I am back from visiting a friend in NC. Long road trip and I did dip my toe into some local stations as I passed through VA and NC. No GT for me though Thinking

    My friend asked me about Adam and I showed her the picture from Wango Tango. She was totally blown away and kept saying “did he get work done?”. I kept saying that he just is in better shape and has a new look. I played her GT and she say she liked it. That is saying a lot from her since she pretty much sticks to opera. I must say his new hair color has quickly grown on me. Remember when he said he would have Leonardo DiCaprio play him in his autobiography? With his lighter hair I could almost see that. But maybe Leonardo when he was 15 years younger.

    Great post, mmm222, although AI is still my favorite and would love to see it continue but changes!!! Wrong mentors, wrong judges, wrong contestants. That first line of people the contestants see are nobodies! They are not music experts…wonder how many people we missed because of that.

    That whistling youtube you just posted, ultimathule is cute but isn’t that the girl that put her fingers through his hair? Would love to see a gif of that.

    I have to admit that if Season 15 on AI is chock full of choice clips from earlier seasons, I’ll have to watch it. I’m a sucker for nostalgia and AI had some really great moments, especially during its earlier days (prior to Season 9).

    Thanks ulti, so next Wed on Elvis Duran…gah…he’ll be in studio, the girls will go nuts, they love him, Elvis always flirts madly with him, I remember after theIHeart concert with Queen both Bethany and Danielle declared themselves Glamberts, and Elvis did some interview which was never broadcast or posted online because he berted so badly and was so sexually obsessed. However, live on the air it cannot be like that.

    I just hope Elvis can contain himself and not lead Adam into any embarrassing convo.

    I think the Idol finale is very entertaining so far. Doubt if any former Idol contestants will be anywhere other than the audience. As far as Adam on Billboard awards…I think he might be in the midst of his travel to radio promos. But if asked, bet he’d be there.
