After what has seemed like an eternally long wait since Adam’s Glam Nation/FYE era ended, we have finally arrived at May 2012 – the month that Adam’s new album “Trespassing” will be released! The album will drop in the U.S. & Canada on May 15th. Lucky fans in New Zealand & Japan will get the album a few days earlier on May 11th, Australia & Germany a few days later on May 18th, while some other European countries (U.K., Ireland, France) will have to wait until July. In addition to the album release, we can look forward to three concerts with Adam headlining this month, the KRZ Summer Bash in Wilkes-Barre PA on May 25th, at Six Flags New England on May 26th, and the Freshtival in National Harbor MD on May 27th. We will also see Adam perform on American Idol May 17th, will have the official push of “Never Close Our Eyes” to pop radio beginning on May 29, and may see the music video for NCOE later this month as well!

    Or maybe FLORIDA- the neglected state!

    I just got my box set so am totally insane. The Duke is trying to quiet me down although he took pictures of the whole set with the pictures and everything. Probably so he can show my kids and friends what a nut I am. Nah!

    Just woke up to see the wonderful iTunes news – deluxe album #1 overall! Standard #10 pop & #36 overall at the moment. Deluxe holding at #10 on amazon.

    Also iTunes pop singles: Runnin #79 & Trespassing #96.

    Congrats to Ron on his upcoming M&G, and that was awesomely thoughtful of TLKC!

    Congrats to everyone who is going to see or meet Adam. Ron I love reading your posts, and I am so happy you get to meet The New Pop Star!
    I had my first listen to the whole album, and I must say, I dont like—————————————-Gotcha!!!!!

    I dont like that I cant even come close to picking a favorite, eveyone I hear I say to myself, thats my favorite, then the next one comes on, this was the first time for Runnin, and wow, it is sticking in my head a lot. And Chokehold seems to be stuck there too.

    I think FYE went to number 3 on itunes, if Im not mistaken.
    Funny how the 2 songs Adam didnt write, NCOE and BTIKM didnt fly up itunes like the Album did. And I wonder how many buyers are fans, or Glamberts, or new people buying because of one reason or another.
    Nice of NoopDog to congratulate Adam on the album. Wonder why Baby J couldnt find a second to do the same.
    I still can listen to Underneath with out a knot in my throat and tears running down my face. I am glad I am listening alone Cry
    But I am so happy Grin about some of the other songs, and In Love with the rest.

    A big 86 score from the Billboard review, and that IS a Metacritic site! Billboard did not review FYE.

    So here are the Metacritic ratings/scores we have so far:

    Billboard 86/100 (86)
    Rolling Stone 4/5 stars (80)
    AllMusic 4/5 stars (80)
    Slant 3.5/5 stars (70)
    Entertainment Weekly B- (67)

    The average score for all Billboard reviews in the Metacritic database is a 73, so this is a very good review. The writeup is glowing in its praise.

    Is it true Adam blew his voice out last nite? I read where he canceled something due to being sick, was it his voice? OMG I am worried, he has AI Thursday nite, he never has a voice problem.

    So much good news abounding here today!Got my deluxe CD and listened in my car , sounded amazing. Can’t pick a favorite yet, Underneath is so hard to listen to, love the song but his emotion from it is heart-wrenching.My husband has a really awesome pair of digital headphones, I think I’ll borrow them.
    Congratulations to cgesq and Ronthat will be so great for you both.
    Our day will come too little dutchess,hopefully Adam will visit us here in the “neglected” state soon.

    Trespassing has a normalized score of 79 so far on metacritic and that’s NOT including billboard yet who gave it an 86! A normalized Metacritic score of 81 or higher for a CD is categorized as “Universal Acclaim” Smile

    Nothing more frustrating than losing the whole post.. I’ll start again.
    This is my Trespassing story:
    I’m not feeling to well lately, so I basically use my iPad whenI’m in bed. Yesterday I fall asleep very early, so I woke up around 4AM and the first thing I did , I downloaded Trespassing. I used my earphones and listened to the WHOLE album at least 4 times. If any of you can, please , listen to this album with closed eyes and in darkness. I was Nirvana.
    My fave is Shady.
    My opium is Nirvana.
    I love Chokehold.
    OOL is gorgeous. What a voice!

    I still hate RCA for singles choice. If they go for third single it should be Shady with all its “dirt”… Smile

    Oksana, I believe it’s weighted by the credibility of the reviewing publication (ie RS gets a lot of weight) and the average score of that publication. So albums that are rated above the average score of that publication get their scores adjusted upward. That is definitely the case for both RS and Billboard.

    Eywflyer,thanks, I would hate if that joke of a review by EW had much impact on a final metascore.
    I can imagine, that Adam must be on a cloud nine. These results are not only proof of his ability as a singer, but also as an Executive Producer.
    I hope that all of those who were predicting his failure as an EP are eating a crow now.

    I haven’t heard him explain before how he came up with the sound.

    I was at Burning Man, and up until the point of Burning Man we had done a handful of emotional dark stuff, some of which was really good and some that was a little kindergarten. I had written a few songs that were a little more throwback classic rock, which I’ve always kind of [enjoyed]. But I was looking for something. And I’m out on the playa on Burning Man in an art car with friends, and there’s so much dubstep. And I appreciate dubstep from a producing, technical point of view, but there’s no groove to a lot of it.

    It’s very nu-metal-y.

    It’s very hard. Very metal-y. I like a pocket—I like, like, funk or disco or stuff that you can shake your ass to. That’s sexy. And this little art car comes zipping by us just blasting Daft Punk. And our art car went from rocking to dubstep to immediately smiling and getting down with each other and touching each other. It just hit me in the head and I was like, “That’s the type of record I want.” It’s instant. It’s classic. It’s old, it’s young. It’s black, it’s white. Gay, straight. I was captivated by it.

    …Stankface is what I want to achieve with the album. And I feel like it does trigger stankface—I’ve watched people react to it.

    Another headphones listen through (I really need to be sleeping more when on night shifts), and I an really loving how BTIKM is the emotional tipping point of the album. The light/dark music video makes so much sense now.

    Just got back from Delux Trespassing CD shopping trip. Most expensive is
    $18.99 – The Beat, a independent music store. Then Barnes & Noble – $15.99,
    Walmart – $13.88 (really, REALLY hate wallie-world; don’t even like to drive
    across the parking lot), Best Buy, Target, & Fry’s Electronics $12.99. Now
    I have 12 CDs to give to unsuspecting potential Adam fans (or not). No
    nice displays (Ron). Some on end caps while others just in the rack. Guess
    Sacramento was missed (or ignored) any advertising extras. Eywflyer – could
    be any number of reasons my blurb wasn’t posted – but was for sure operator
    error on my part. (wrong key much?) And Ron, glad TLKC hooked you up.

    edt – and found another Instinct Mag if anyone still wants the Adam issue.

    Congrats, all of you getting to see Adam, meet Adam, and who are currently enjoying your box sets. I had hoped I might get mine yesterday. Instead, I got the regular CD that I am gifting one of my granddaughters. So here I had one in hand, and couldn’t open it or listen to it! Gahhhhh!

    Except for the camera cuts this livestream was good. So a Tommy guitar solo instead of the “ROF” wail on Broken English. Chokehold was wonderful! And he brought back the rap in Naked Love!!! yes!!!!
