After what has seemed like an eternally long wait since Adam’s Glam Nation/FYE era ended, we have finally arrived at May 2012 – the month that Adam’s new album “Trespassing” will be released! The album will drop in the U.S. & Canada on May 15th. Lucky fans in New Zealand & Japan will get the album a few days earlier on May 11th, Australia & Germany a few days later on May 18th, while some other European countries (U.K., Ireland, France) will have to wait until July. In addition to the album release, we can look forward to three concerts with Adam headlining this month, the KRZ Summer Bash in Wilkes-Barre PA on May 25th, at Six Flags New England on May 26th, and the Freshtival in National Harbor MD on May 27th. We will also see Adam perform on American Idol May 17th, will have the official push of “Never Close Our Eyes” to pop radio beginning on May 29, and may see the music video for NCOE later this month as well!

Our featured photo for this month’s chat comes from Adam’s mini-concert of April 26th on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

It’s going to be an exciting month as we begin the Trespassing era, enjoy the chat!

RS yes, that was EW that had Adam on the cover during Idol. With the title something like “Adam lambert may just be the best Idol ever even though he might be gay”. Words something to that effect.

  2. rs says:

I love Take Back, too. The lyrics are so fantastic. Everybody can relate to them. Every listen to the album I hear something new and fabulous. I can’t wait to get the CD and hear it like it is meant to be heard. I check the mailbox every morning to see if it has arrived even though I know that it will probably take another week. bessiedim in Toronto just ordered hers from AO a few days ago and it came yesterday!

  3. Ceddies says:

Well, I just posted my comment on the EW review site. I was just sickened last night reading that piece of junk that she put out there.

HI ALL. You guys have been busy been away, lots to catch up on. Did do my part and left a comment on EW.
Does anyone know if Adam is going to be on Chelsea Lately tonight.

  7. mieps says:

Comments are still coming in at a good pace Frown I was surprised to see the article still there, with no changes made to it.

    Did send reactions.

  8. luval says:

Firstimerob….yup 11pm tonight EDT on ET network. It’s already been filmed. All I saw on a tweet was that interview was very short. I’m assuming he’ll sing but who knows. Would bring over the tweet but can’t do it on my iPhone.

  9. cwm says:

luval – I’m not so sure about Adam singing on Chelsea Lately. I think it might be just the interview. Someone on twitter said that Chelsea Lately never has music, just interviews. Plus, the band appeared to be in rehearsals for much of the day yesterday and none of them said anything about a performance (and the divas are quite chatty on twitter).

  10. firstimerob says:

luval Thanks so much. So much going on hard to keep up,thanks for all of you.

  11. luval says:

Thanks cwm and firstimerob. I have my priorities straight… Adam news first, then work. Smile

  12. eywflyer says:

It’s going to be interesting to see how Adam integrates everything together for the tour. The radio shows will be shorter sets and will likely be mostly or all new music, which should be fairly easy to arrange. However the full tour set is going to need to be at least 80-90 minutes IMO, requiring both Trespassing tracks (which is really almost like two albums bridged by BTIKM) and FYE tracks, with FYE very different than either part of Trespassing.

Annoying but not surprising that GLAAD is apparently going to do nothing about the EW “review”. I guess Adam isn’t politically correct enough for them.

  13. riskylady says:

eywflyer and rs, I too love Take Back, as well as Broken English and Chokehold, not just for their gorgeous melodies, but for being LITERATE! Who else has “information disarray” or “cold asphyxiate” in their songs? It’s pop music for brainy people, not just the usual mindless drivel.
And Runnin’ – OMG. Just to remind us all, here’s Adam singing in his lower register LIVE. HE CAN DO IT!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnWdjfJluSg&feature=channel&list=UL

  14. ultimathule says:

Did GLAAD actually say that, eywflyer ? Remember they had to be forced to say anything about the treatment of Adam after the AMA’s. Think they came out with about three different statements.

  15. eywflyer says:

riskylady, ITA on the literate lyrics in some of these songs. Unlike most of pop, the words are interesting to listen to as well as the music.

ultimatethule, I don’t think they have said anything at all to this point. I’m just assuming that when they don’t respond to numerous tweets regarding this issue for almost a full day now, they probably are never going to respond. They have responded to a couple dozen people in the last few hours regarding the Boy Scouts, but not a word about Adam.

  16. ultimathule says:

You’ve probably all heard this – but “Quiet Desperation” shows off his lower range, too.

  17. mieps says:

Noskerdycat says the review made it (unaltered) into the printed version. Personally, I think that’s even worse than having it online. Maybe Glaad will feel more compelled to react now.

  18. eywflyer says:

I get the idea that @glaad doesn’t know a whole lot about Twitter. They keep retweeting basically the same thing about the Boy Scouts over and over and over and over… Not to say that the Boy Scout issue is not important, but repetitively RT’ing something that much just annoys their followers and doesn’t really accomplish anything more than a few RTs would have.

Oh well – I reported on their online contact form. Noticed that their list of “Offensive Media Coverage Incidents” at http://www.glaad.org/omi has all of two incidents listed, the most recent being from November 2011. Maybe they are short of internet/web peeps on their staff – idk. Anyway not holding my breath that they are going to do anything about the EW thing.

On a more positive note, I’m curious what tracks are y’all liking the most so far? My top three at the moment are Kickin In, Broken English, and Outlaws of Love, with Runnin close behind.

  19. cato says:

I’m testing to see if I have this “post a link” thing down. This is Adam singing in a low register on the infamous Take One album. I think this demo is one where he’s trying to sound like a country baritone. I had to stop at the lyric “…don’t want to miss a thang” because I was laughing so hard. I found this on the new DDD Forum. Here goes (fingers crossed) http://youtu.be/By39_debAw8.

  20. ultimathule says:

Maybe when the review comes out in the dead tree version, it’ll provoke some people who didn’t see the online one.

  21. luval says:

eywflyer…my top three change all the time. I’m thinking Cuckoo, Underneath and Running but check back in 5 minutes!

  22. ultimathule says:

Does anyone think EW would have had time to zap the review in the printed version if it had wanted to?

  23. cwm says:

This is cool. Good support for Outlaws of Love:

eywflyer – my current top 3 are Shady, Broken English, and Cuckoo. And Underneath. I know, that’s 4.

But yeah, ask me again in 5 minutes.

And here’s a preview of Adam’s interview on Chelsea Lately (of course, it’s about the gay):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHPzAOZJS2E&feature=youtu.be

  26. luval says:

I’m hoping the love for OOL in Out & New Now Next will help Adam get more fans from the gay community who would have never listened to him. It is such a powerful beautiful song & the words have such meaning (actually to anyone in a forbidden relationship …gay…black/white…etc.) I want to shed a tear everytime I hear it.

On the tour, wonder which song they’ll end with..IIHY or Cuckoo?

  27. luval says:

    Here’s that tweet (from AQD).

    @trixie_dust
Long day at Chelsea Lately taping. Adam intvw was very short but he looked fuckin hot. Leopard star shirt, blue blazer, zipper boots, rings.

  28. rs says:

cato, thanks for the link to the Country Baritone Adam. I had never heard it because on principle I have never listened to any of the songs from Take One. Aside from the fact that I was in stitches laughing, I felt sorry that something so terribly produced has actually been released with his name attached to it. Someone who doesn’t know better might think that this is the way that he sings.

Could you imagine if he had tried to sing something like this on Country week instead of Ring of Fire? lol

  29. mieps says:

Ulti, since the print version is already out, I’m sure they couldn’t have changed it. Somehow, by being printed on paper I think it’s checked more closely and by more people than when it goes online (just my perception, I could be totally off). So, personally, the fact it is printed saddens me more.

  30. Kradamour says:

On the tour, wonder which song they’ll end with…IIHY or Cuckoo?

OOOh, Luval, something new to chew on/speculate about!

I am thinking that IIHY might always be his closing number. So much energy, jumping, and general joyousness. He will have to include it in a concert, and it doesn’t really fit well with the new music (IMHO) so having it at the end might be a good thing.

Now THIS is how you should relate to Gay issues while reviewing music! Well done NewNowNext

  32. cato says:

rs: I so agree. This was posted only to show his lower register. The blog I got it from has many Adam vocals (all they were able to find), including all pre- and post- idol songs and every stop on the Glam Nation tour. Then they go on to discuss them for 184 pages… I check in every so often to see what some of the “experts” think of his vocals. I’m hoping they’ll write a lot about Trespassing. So far they are very intrigued by Runnin, mostly loving his lower register.

  33. luval says:

Don’t think I’ll be staying up to watch Adam tonight. Really can’t stand Chelsea whatever with her 10 yr old “Ryan Seacrest could be gay” jokes and her idiotic questions referring to gay with adam.

  34. sparkle says:

Okay – 9 pages in 3 1/2 days – wow! I have to catch up! Just wanted to say hi to everyone first!
Idol watchers – who do you think is going home tonight? Not to brag but in March when there was a Top 13, I did pick Jessica, Hollie, Joshua and Philip as the Top 4. I think it will be Jessica going home.

  35. glambotgram says:

Sparkle I don’t know who it will be, Hollie maybe, but I sooo want it to be Phillip, can’t watch him or listen to him.

Thanks for the link, rs, but to be honest I had a difficult time getting beyond the top photo. What a stunner!!! In Love

  37. dcglam says:

I’m curious what tracks are y’all liking the most so far?

Well, eywflyer…. As you know I am a Trespassing virgin. I’m afraid you will need to wait until Tuesday for my response.Wink I am seriously considering taking the day off from work as a listening sick day. I probably won’t be able to do that as I’m already taking off next Friday for a weekend trip to Boston — important baby shower.

  38. luval says:

glambotgram…agree with you about Phillip…ugh!!! Of course he may be a nice person but just don’t get it!

  39. ultimathule says:

I think the gay thingee will follow Adam for quite a while. IMO believe the fact that he’s beautiful and extremely sexual/sexy will keep it alive. If he were straight, think the interest would be there, but in more an ordinary way – like, who’s he going out with. Adam’s mysterious in a very good way and from Ryan Seacrest, when Adam was on Idol, to the present day the fascination is just there. And two beautiful men being together is just a turn-on for many – maybe most – people.

  40. ultimathule says:

Lol – P2’s my fav – “The Stone” and “Volcano” – my kinda music.

  41. rs says:

Let’s see, which tracks do I love at the moment? On side one:
Trespassing (it is his anthem), Shady, Cuckoo, Kickin In.
On side 2 Underneath (my favorite on the whole album), Outlaws of Love, Broken English, Chokehold.
    Bonus: Take Back and Nirvana

I pretty much love everything. The only one that I wasn’t getting into from the snippets was Pop That Lock, but even that is growing on me. And I can say that while BTIKM is my least favorite on the album, I love his acoustic versions, and it is still soooooooo much better than the other stuff on the radio today.

  42. glambotgram says:

ulti It’s not the songs he sings that I don’t like, it is the way he sings them and his weird antics while singing.

  43. fwachdr says:

Are dcglam and I the only two on this whole site who have not listened to the album?! My email notice of shipment came today!! Five more days…I hope my heart can bear the strain of waiting!!!

  44. ultimathule says:

So funny – that what I like about him, glambotglam – Some of his performances have been meh – but none of the other three do it for me.
Will check all their albums, but not expecting much.

  45. ultimathule says:

Nirvana just takes me to another place.

  46. HK fan says:

whooot….got my shipment notification last night…was getting worried as I hadn’t heard anything. How long do they normally take after being shipped??

And personally I hope Joshua goes tonight.

  47. glambotgram says:

    fwachdr says:
Are dcglam and I the only two on this whole site who have not listened to the album?!

ME waving, I haven’t listened, I haven’t even read the liner notes. Big Smile

ulti I am not really invested in any of them, I haven’t voted, I like listening to Joshua, sometimes, but I really feel like he “takes you to church” on most songs, he just sound really gospel. I love the things Jessica does with her voice but think she could use a few more years to mature that voice also.

  48. ultimathule says:

This is rather interesting. On MJs AI Headline thread for today, there was discussion about the EW review. I started to post a reply to one comment, but was blocked. When I went back to the thread, the EW comments had all been removed.

    HMMMM

  49. Ellessay says:

You guys are hard to keep up with! I finally broke down and listened to the live stream. I can’t wait to get the CD in my hot little hands. I’ll probably download from iTunes the minute it’s available. While I love the whole album, I’ve been listening to Runnin’ on repeat the most. Love his lower register AND his wail.

I was very offended by the EW article and added my thoughts, although I managed to hit enter before getting my name typed in. Y’all probably know that I can’t be brief, so it took me over an hour to edit my comments down to a size that would submit. I hope the author and her editor get a public thrashing by their employer. They should be fired.

The fans know Adam is gay. And guess what…we don’t care! What we do care about is the music. We want Adam to be respected for his talent. We know WE love his music, especially those songs he’s co-written, but we like to see what others think. Adam speaks through his music—obviously you aren’t listening. Just say you don’t like the music and why. This is a music review, right? It would help if you got your facts right before commenting.

  50. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

Doesn’t mj have some sort of affiliation with EW? Hmmmmmm… Very interesting….
