After what has seemed like an eternally long wait since Adam’s Glam Nation/FYE era ended, we have finally arrived at May 2012 – the month that Adam’s new album “Trespassing” will be released! The album will drop in the U.S. & Canada on May 15th. Lucky fans in New Zealand & Japan will get the album a few days earlier on May 11th, Australia & Germany a few days later on May 18th, while some other European countries (U.K., Ireland, France) will have to wait until July. In addition to the album release, we can look forward to three concerts with Adam headlining this month, the KRZ Summer Bash in Wilkes-Barre PA on May 25th, at Six Flags New England on May 26th, and the Freshtival in National Harbor MD on May 27th. We will also see Adam perform on American Idol May 17th, will have the official push of “Never Close Our Eyes” to pop radio beginning on May 29, and may see the music video for NCOE later this month as well!

Our featured photo for this month’s chat comes from Adam’s mini-concert of April 26th on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

It’s going to be an exciting month as we begin the Trespassing era, enjoy the chat!

Calgary, how exciting that you are going to Paris tomorrow! Have a wonderful, safe trip! I went last spring with my daughter and her high school choir and absolutely loved it. I think a stop at the Rick Owens boutique is a must – maybe you can try on a pair of those ridiculous famous shoes like Gaga wears!

ulti, I like your Music Note warning. I think I will also like running to Runnin Grin

Just looked up “snatching wigs” from Adam’s re-tweet, it means to “humiliate” someone. Gah. How awesome. It comes from a viral video where a drag queen snatched the wig off another in a contest when she didn’t win.

I just got a reply from Amazon UK – the lower price (7 pounds 50) is with the VAT backed out for non UK purchasers. Cool! So for us in the US it is only about 10pounds50 including shipping. Such a deal!

I am feeling sad when I see you all buying lots of copies of the CD and gifting them. I don’t know a living soul to give one to

kradamour, I so agree with your post. The few people that I have told about Adam are glad for me, mostly for my passion and for the friends I have made, but only two people have ever even asked to hear his music. I would love to gift his CDs to everybody but I can’t think of anything worse than having them sitting unopened in a drawer somwwhere. I did make an Adam Sampler for my cousin, but I don’t know if she ever listened to it.

So I will keep buying CDs…..for my car…. for my computer….for my cd player in the living room…..and a few extras in the hope that I will find someone to gift them to.

    From traveling Cher:

Jim , please post the below words on the blog for me. Hello everyone
    from Athens!!!!

Sunday we were in Dubrovnik, Croatia walking around the port shops. I
    was standing outside a souvenir
shop eating gelato and two of my friends inside started calling me,
    “Cher! Cher come here!”
I went inside and they said “Listen!” It was Adam singing WWFM!” We
    were all laughing. Then we
went over to another shop across the walkway and WWFM was playing in
there too, so it must have
been Croatian radio! yay!! They’ll soon have new music. Love you all
and will be back soon! Having
a really fun time over here. Mwah!

  12. Ceddies says:

Thanks, jlurk, I was wondering where Cher has been off to. She’s always off to somewhere. Guess I missed her notice to us lol. And how sweet of her to think of us. Course now, Adam music (heard anywhere) and Glamberts are pretty-much joined at the hips. So it’s hard to hear his music without thinking of our glamily.

I’m so happy Cher is having a good time.

  13. rs says:

To all of you who are waiting to hear the album

    HOW.DO.YOU.HAVE.THE.WILLPOWER?

You must all be skinny and be able to resist temptation, stick to diets, exercise, etc, etc, etc. There is no way in the world that I could have NOT listened to the album if I knew that it was out there. I just see this as a build-up and preparation for the climax of hearing the CD when I get it. Each stage (singles, snippets, longer snippets, etc) has built on the one before.

But if you can do it, I bow to you strength of will in the face of temptation. More power to you.

  14. nkd says:

jlurksacto, thanks for the message from cher. Sounds like she’s having fun!

rs, I’m glad you got connected today. I was driving to spend the day with my MIL when Texas told me you were desperate!
I’m glad you got it! Grin

  15. rs says:

thanks nkd, and the first thing I did this morning when I got up was to listen to the whole album. I even included BTIKM and NCOE in their proper places. They might not be my favorites, but if Adam put them in, I felt that they should be part of the listening experience.

I have listened to Runnin a few times and I am blown away by it. I think that the first time I was so shocked by the low register that I didn’t even recognize Adam’s voice, so I couldn’t really listen to the song. It is amazing.

  16. cwm says:

I join the ranks of those of you who are waiting, although I may only make it until ZMOnline in New Zealand starts streaming the album tomorrow! Wink

It’s funny – I usually am very good with self-control and delayed gratification, but honestly, I have little self-control or will power when it comes to Adam. I am seriously addicted. So I really surprised myself when I decided to wait a little longer. I think the waiting is building the antici….pation for me – it’s like I’m waiting for just the right moment to unwrap my prized present and revel in it.

I don’t think I’m going to try to make it until I have the actual CD in hand; I’m just going to wait until there’s a stream available to me. Smile

Flail away, though, everyone who has heard it. I’ve been having a great time reading everyone’s reactions on twitter, here, and at MJs. So exciting that everyone is so thrilled with it!

Fingers crossed for good sales and good reviews.

  17. cwm says:

There is one aspect to the album downloads now being available that is bothering me. When the (premature) stream in Malaysia was spotted and ripped, fans shared the download links via private direct messages and emails. The notion was that the links were only being shared with stans who were definitely going to purchase anyway, or already had, and everyone agreed to NOT post the links publicly. So that seemed to make it more ok and eased everyone’s conscience about it. Obviously that’s how all of us got the links and all of us are buying multiple copies of the album so we can be trusted not to hurt Adam’s sales.

But now on twitter I’m seeing all kinds of tweets from non-fans and non-stans who have heard the album and are loving it. Which is great – I love to see that there is buzz building and that people like it, including people who were not previously fans! But it is obvious now that the links have been publicly posted and non-fans and casual fans are downloading the album for free in order to listen to it. Will they eventually buy it? Who knows? Grrrr. It’s hard to know what to think. Once the record label starts streaming an album, surely they realize that someone’s gonna rip the stream and post it. Do free downloads before the album is available for purchase hurt sales, or do they build buzz and demand (thereby helping sales)? What is the net effect? Welcome to the music business in the digital age, I guess…

(BTW – I hope my musings here aren’t coming across as judging those of you who decided to download and listen. I totally get it, and have no problem with trusted fans (who have already purchased or who are committed to purchasing) privately sharing links and taking the opportunity to listen early. My musings are directed more at the inevitability of the links eventually getting publicly posted by someone not so committed to keeping them private, and then they’re out of control from there and accessible to everybody and their brother.)

  18. rs says:

cwm, when I was searching for the album yesterday I did a twitter search of Trespassing and found one of the links. It certainly wasn’t private. I was afraid to download it, because it was from an unknown source, but it turned out to be one of the ones I got from you all later. As someone on MJs said yesterday, the ones who download the stuff for free would have done it a week later anyway. It can’t be helped, unfortunately, so let’s be optimistic and think that this will add to the pre-release buzz.

Wow, I think I love Jordan Meehan at the UK-based EQ Music Blog. Check out this review (9.5/10 stars):

    http://www.eqmusicblog.com/2012/05/album-review-trespassing-by-adam-lambert.html

…I really can’t say enough good things about this album; it’s extremely strong, cohesive and deep, which you really don’t find in pop… What I love so much about Adam is that he’s an artist who is not only overflowing with talent and showmanship, but also has within himself the talent and creativity to create an original, unique and meaningful piece of work that shines brighter than all the rest.

Trespassing is undoubtedly the pop album of the year and has raised the standard for everybody else out there. It’s an amazing combination of pop, rock, dubstep, electro and dance, which comes together so organically to form an extremely strong, cohesive album that is enjoyable from start to finish. There isn’t a single uneventful moment on Trespassing; it’s full of energy the entire way through, and even the slower songs and ballads radiate a quiet intensity, making them impossible to ignore. Overall, this album is an incredible work, which may just prove to be the album of the year.

    And from Music Box Mix:
    http://www.musicboxmix.net/2012/05/08/adam-lambert-trespassing-album-review/

It’s been a long time coming for Adam Lambert’s Trespassing album release, but definitely worth the wait! Although originally slated to drop last November, Adam took an extra few months to go in a different, funkier direction and to fine-tune it to perfection. The result shows that he has succeeded in his quest. The album comes chock full of obvious hits, including funky, up-beat dance tunes that rival any pop songs currently topping the charts. There are also ballads that will have listeners near tears, with haunting lyrics and gut-wrenching, soulful cries. All of the songs are relatable, regardless of age, race, gender or sexuality…

YAY!! Really interested to see what the heavy hitters say, like Rolling Stone, EW, New York Times, etc.

rs – yes, I know what you mean. Unfortunately there’s a lot of truth to that. So, yes, I’m hoping that the net effect is positive due to increased pre-release buzz!

Haha Jordan Meehan at the EQ Music Blog seems to be musing about the exact same questions I posed above:

mils – I was the one who was having problems with the upgrade, along with you. I too just got the email from AO about the issue being resolved. Turns out I gave up on the upgrade a week or so ago and just ordered a box set outright. Morning Peeps! I am getting goosebumps as I read the reviews of TSP. Is it possible that this album will get the recognition it so rightly deserves? I am so stunned by the openness and strength of all the songs and am especially gobsmacked by Shady and Underneath. So different yet so telling of the life that Adam lives. I will always remember when Adam said he was the kind of guy who liked to go to clubs and stay up all night. This was right after Idol and I think he was trying to get his fans a bit more comfortable with all of his sides. Well it has been a few years now and I for one love all sides of our boy (yes, both literally and figuratively).

Going back to work today after more than 2 weeks off. Short weeks for the next three weeks and lots of Adam fun ahead. Can’t complain.

    Have a good day everyone.

My question is, how well known (and read) are these reviewers?

I know that Lyndsey Parker has the album and has said that she will review it in depth. Don’t know about Slezack or Jim Cantiello, but I assume that they will review it, too. Jim doesn’t work for MTV anymore, so it will probably be on his you-tube channel.

    Thanks, but NO.

  30. glambotgram says:

cwm ITA with your whole post. I was so disheartened when I saw that it had been leaked yesterday morning. I knew that for every legitimate fan that will buy 1 or 12 or 100 copies, there are dozens that will just steal it. I think it will only hurt Adam’ sales and it makes me very sad. I don’t think judging from his surprised tweet that he was very happy about the situation either.

I don’t see how it could be so difficult to have a Worldwide release all on the same day. So streaming would not be happening more than a week before the release.

I also want to say I am not judging ANYONE who has listened or is listening it it just something I cannot do. I have a daughter who is a graphic designer and she has well schooled me on the issue of illegal downloads and copyrighted material. So I will wait until I get it in my hot little hands.

But on another note I am enjoying your reactions, and am looking forward to my Adam “soaked” drive to WB. Smile

hahaha asif, I got that notice from Amazon, too, about Kris’ album, and nope, not gonna buy it either. Although, I have to admit that I bought both his and David Cook’s first albums when I surprisingly found them in a music store here. I wanted to support them as well as let the store know that they did a good thing by importing them. Listened to each once and put them away. The thing that is annoying me about Amazon is that they say that it will be sent out on or about May 15th and will arrive here between June 9th-29th! What are they waiting for? I am leaving on the 19th for my cruise. Adam Official informed me that they sent my album out a few days ago. YAY for them!

I just heard BTIKM on the radio! First time in a couple of weeks, maybe more. Cool. But it just made me want to listen to the REST OF THE ALBUM BUT I AM WAITING…!

Honestly, BTIKM has been out there for so long that it is almost jarring to think about it on the new album.

Re the early streaming, links, etc.
I just don’t get it. As posted above, why NOT release simultaneously? How hard could that be? Hit a switch and BAM released all over the world.

RE peeps listening, downloading, not buying…I think that is really exacerbated when someone hears, WANTS to buy, and can’t. I find that to be true with French music that is released…I can’t buy it, so I download illegally – then if it ever becomes available for purchase, I shrug. I’m over it.

I don’t think links etc hurt if the music is available for sale at the same time to peeps who want to buy it after a listen. Or at least they don’t hurt any more than they otherwise would. There will always be thief peeps.

  47. Ron says:

I naively assumed that I would make the less than 5 minute walk on Tuesday to either HMV or Sunrise Records (they’re across the street from one another) and buy the deluxe version of “Trespassing”. It occurred to me only yesterday that in all likelihood the standard release would be on the shelf but not the deluxe. I want the deluxe version and to ensure that I get it I ordered through Amazon.com last night.

I had to give that some thought: Amazon.com (U.S.) or Amazon.ca (Canada). I’m not sure if the Billboard sales figures are for North America or strictly for the U.S. I want my purchase to count and not wanting to take any chances I ordered from the U.S. Paid for expedited shipping but delivery date given is May 23rd. I hope that will be upgraded in the next day or two and arrive earlier.

Music Note After making my purchase, I didn’t give a second thought about listening to it online. I so agree that “Runnin'” definitely should be part of the regular album and not a bonus track. That lower register!! The song just builds and builds and builds. Stunning!

“Nirvana”, another bonus track, has barely been touched upon but it’s one of my very favorites! The song itself can be a bit “plodding” maybe but Adam’s soaring vocals more than makes up for any fault I might find with the song. Actually, I don’t know when I’ve heard Adam sound better than on “Nirvana”. Extraordinary!

There’s usually one bad apple in the bunch for just about anything in life and, in this case, it would be BTIKM. Other than that one song, this album is brilliant! It’s light years above and beyond FYE.

When are the Grammy award nominations? Suspense Smile

  48. milwlovesadam says:

Ron, I am so glad that you love Runnin’ too. I am addicted to it. I just gave it several listens and I turned it waaaaaaay up! OMG. I don’t remember the last time I have loved a song so much. The way it builds, his lower register, the drums just throb and pound, his soaring voice. UNF. That’s all.

I can only imagine this in concert. It’s almost got a jungle beat. Unbelievable it isn’t in the regular CD. It needs to go to radio.

    Mr. Grammy, where are you?

  49. milwlovesadam says:

Thanks for the lyrics. Now, who has the lyrics for the bonus songs?

I’m off to my Japanese buffet and dad’s BDay. He’s 79 today. Just about right for this 29 year old. LOL
