Most marketing $$$ are focussed on the younger demographic. Young people aren’t as likely to be encumbered by mortgages. They also tend to have more discretionary income (i.e. more money for fun stuff) and are more easily persuaded to part with it. Also, people are known to develop brand affiliations early in life and stick to them.
Many of the youth brands are image-oriented and give POP radio stations the added advantage of helping them to project the right kind of cool. They can’t get those brands unless they have the right kind of listener. That’s where the “ideal listener” profile kicks in.
If you sign up as listener in the major radio station near your home, you will be asked to provide your age. If you have already done this then you really can’t change your age. If you haven’t you can do so now and pick your age

Hannabec is mistaken on this matter.
Advertisers use all kinds of market analysis and data-based algorithms to figure out where their desired customers are. TV, radio and online media submit to the analysis and try to keep or develop their desired demos. They track customer’s online interests and toss or keep us in the data mix as desired.
Is the data analysis perfect? No. A female friend of mine is constantly courted by beer brands because she is a soccer nut. My online demo gets me all sorts of invitations to gay male dating sites
Older consumers have lots of money but it isn’t always about money. Cool-branded shows and people often get much more attention than their ratings and sales results deserve.
Case in point “Gossip Girl”. This show always had so-so ratings but it got so much coverage in New York Magazine and various blogs that their actors were frequently featured in fashion magazines, Vanity Fair, gossip columns and front row seats at NY Fashion Week events. All the right brands cheerfully coughed up all sorts of money to align themselves with the show.
Lena Dunham’s Girls is currently performing a similar trick, even though many less exciting shows like NCIS, with much better ratings, get far less advertising money.

ETA: Hannabec is right about one thing. She can request whatever she wants and she should do that if she wants to. But Shoshonna is right when she says that Hanna won’t be helping Adam much. Personally, if I am going to invest time in helping Adam I would like to know that I am not wasting it.

On Twitter I have followed and am followed by @HannaBec since about 2010. She’s a nurse, I believe, and has always been a fun and reasonable person (I have blocked all the crazy,unkind/unreasonable or snarky people from my twitter account).
I was surprised that she had that interchange with Shosh – she must have been having a really bad day, because it does seem to be out of character for her.

What’s the target demographic for HAC stations, the ones that play top 40 mixed with past decades songs? Mine is mostly top 40 here in Houston. They advertise stuff that most teens and twenties would have no interest in.
If radio doesn’t want us then we can buy albums and singles and concert tickets, stream music and make noise on Twitter, etc.
It really all depends on how good the first single is and the promotion behind it by WBR.

It’s reported here that these two judges live in New York but that they were recently both dropped by their labels. The feeling (from music business people) is that they now have zero chance of getting another contract.

Mentioned in a post here last week I couldn’t get Shazam app on my iphone. Woke up this morning and it was there. How that happened I have no idea.

-I don’t intend to send messages to ANY radio station unless or until there is reason to send messages to somebody who will actually play his music. Until then, no bombarding from this mega-fan.
-Nasty pushy over-bearing fans are not welcome anywhere, and only do more harm than good. IMHO.
-Requesting the songs from TSP that were not embraced by anyone outside of the fandom, did not help Adam. They were the wrong songs. Period. I do believe most of us would agree.
-I am sooooo sick of certain fans, who some of us may have met or know, that have an agenda to force out there and ruin it for so many of us.
-I just want Adam to have a hit song and hit record again. FYE was a real hit, WWFM and IIHY were real hits. TSP was number one, because we made it number 1. For a week. Then it died. That’s the truth.
-In time, it did sell a million or more copies, worldwide, with hard work and international touring. I wonder how many copies were sold during QAL?? I wonder how we could find out?

Ha ha! Too bad about Johnny! He did make me laugh, though. I would just prefer to see something a bit more professional. I’m not completely sold on dancers because Adam is so much better upfront and communicating directly with the audience but I’ll deal.
It would be nice if Adam could have a better band overall. He certainly deserves the best. He may find that he is much pickier after QAL and could end up using the promo tour to fine-tune his line-up. Tour plans are a bit premature, after all. We will have to wait and see.

Adam has had the best band, the best sound, the best lighting, the best pyro, the best plane, the best venues, and, erm, the best “shez long” handlers in the business.
He hardly even had to adjust his earpieces on QAL.
