And I thought we did a pretty good job on the themed charms last summer. Mils’s crown wih a dangly “A” earrings are the best. I will definitely be wearing them at the next live gig I attend.

Nice fan arts! I still thing Adam’s is not that comfortable about his abs yet, but maybe someday we will see some of those as well. I read somewhere in the last couple of weeks that for singers it’s not that good to train your abs that much because of the breathing that is coming from that part of your stomach. That part has to stay flexible to produce all the sound and support the breathing. I think I read it in one of the vocal abilities threads.
A very nice post from Badassalterego again. Love her posts. They are so insightful. Made me think about singing in a different way.

Man, Badass nails it so well. The speech therapist in me can’t wait to hear about what she thinks about how and why he sticks his tongue out for certain notes and how he uses his air for sustained notes.
It’s fun to read her blog, because I have to teach people how to achieve voice after illness or injury. I have to teach them how to breathe and coordinate exhalation with phonation ( how to breathe out and start your voice, not waste air, etc ). I teach people how to produce more syllables per breath, how to pause and use their voice efficiently. This is sooo interesting to me.
I sometimes have to use singing to teach people how to be able to express themselves after, for instance, a stroke. Sometimes the use of melody is the way a person will be able to communicate.
I know so much, and so little about the singer’s voice. One thing I’d like to hear her talk about is more about his articulation of every single word. Adam’s singing is so unique because the audience never needs to struggle with the words of a song. Maybe it’s his choir training, which requires precise diction. He has also taken opera lessons, and certainly knows the Broadway voice.
While studying the voice, I’ve seen numerous videos of vocal cords producing speech, singing, and “Broadway” singing. The larynx ( voicebox ) uses different postures, positioning, and even parts of the musculature differently.
One of the best illustrations of this is why opera singers really can’t sing pop or rock songs. I saw a video of Alfie Boe made for the BBC, about his idol, Freddie Mercury. He tried to sing a Queen song, and failed miserably. Now, Alfie Boe is a magnificently talented opera star. He was in Les Mis to much acclaim. His Bring Him Home brings tears to my eyes. However, he simply was not able to un-train the opera from his vocal cords. Now, he can sing Barcelona quite well, but, that’s opera.

I’m not so fond of Alfie Boe singing those Queen songs either. To me it’s like Adam singing country or something. Alfie has a great voice but I would prefer hearing him in his own genre whatever that is…opera?…musicals??

In the morning I spent an hour (!) figuring out room order of Adam’s house (I have an obsession to find out room orders and plans of apartments, I even draw them sometimes!) – thanks Calgary, AFTER that I noticed you had done it already for us. I’ve been away the whole day, busy with other things. But I have one question; is the gym & tv room area on the same level as entrance floor – door to the left next to stairs on hallway I think? Or is there a third (basement) floor? And where are the white stairs (last picture, outside, on the left) going? Lol.

Yeah, I much prefer Adam or Freddie on Queen, but, Alfie Boe is interesting, he has the power, but not the tonality.
He is a classically trained opera singer, and starred in Les Mis for a long time.
That video I posted above of him and how “Freddie Mercury Saved My Life” is a good watch. He interviews Freddie’s mum and sister, and Brian May has a long part in it.
As for country, ahem, Ring of Fire is as close as we’re ever gonna get from Adam. It’s just not his genre.
Lea Michelle stars in Glee. She dueted with Adam on Barracuda on Glee. She was a Broadway star before Glee, as a tween. She may return to Broadway after Glee, there have been rumors and articles.

The workout room is in the basement, below the living room and overlooks the street. It is a walkout at the front of the house. In the last photo the stairs are from the garage at the back of the property.
Calgary, isn’t the workout room or the area next to it the third bedroom if need be? Like a mini apartment with a bathroom but without a kitchen. (would have to use the main house kitchen).

Still in my wheelchair and crutches so won’t be closing the disco every night like normal. No Caribbean deck party nor Latin dance party for me either. They did have an epic rock show earlier with songs from the 80s including STL, WWRY and a pretty decent dramatic version of BoRhap. Not too bad at all. I moved my hands to the music a lot.
