Hi everyone!   I realize some of you don’t like the eyes pictures but I think this one is beautiful.  I think of looking ahead to the Festival, new single, next album and tour when I look at this picture.  This month all of us will have a huge treat to look forward to with Adam performing at the St. Agathe en Feux Festival and my good friend Suz526’s videos on 7/29!   Please keep us all updated on the plans of the rather sizeable group of you who will be attending this concert as those of us who can’t make it to Canada will live vicariously through you for this one!

Thursday evening July 7th update: thanks to angelowal, we now have a translated link to FAQs for the Festival!

Yes, same here. Reserved seating. I’ve never been to a GA concert, let alone one in a field, by a lake in the middle of nowhere. Smile

I’m just going to go with the flow because I don’t know what to expect.

  3. Kradamour says:

It sounds like we should check-in and then immediately run to go stand in line! Rolls Eyes Forget about dinner.

But there is a concert the night before, also, on the same stage. How would that even work? (shakes head in confusion) I’m planning to attend that concert, actually, so I’ll scope it out. Smile

  4. Ron says:

    Hi NS!!

I think your suggestion of rotating shifts is really our only option if we want to get anywhere near the stage. We’ll see.

P.S. Guess who I haven’t heard from? Neutral

  5. Ron says:

    Dear, level-headed, rational Kradamour!

    Of course, Eric LaPointe.

Well, I guess we get to eat after all. Smile

Good thing you didn’t say Paul Nolan sings as good as Adam…you would have had people jumping on you here Smile

Yeah,ns, I thought about that! He’s got the same range and he can “scream” just like Adam – I thought his rendition of “Gethsemane” was phenomenal. It reminds me of some of Adam’s old stuff.

You can all listen here: http://www.cbc.ca/video/news/audioplayer.html?clipid=2052008714
Go to about 25.30 to hear Nolan sing. If that doesn’t work, go here, and scroll down to the black box that says :Listen here” http://www.cbc.ca/q/blog/2011/07/12/jesus-christ-superstar-on-q/

Paul Nolan is good but Steve Balsamo’s Jesus opposite Adam’s Judas is what I’m wanting. His performance is spellbinding and easy on the eyes too. Andrew Lloyd Webber said that Steve Balsamo was the most exciting new talent is was ever his privilege to discover.

This whole camping out etc. thing makes me sad. I suspect that there will be a fair number of badly behaved Adam fans. The reason that peeps are badly behaved is that they want so desperately to be close to Adam, not because they are inherently bad peeps (altho of course some are, there’s one in every crowd lol). When access is so limited, and desperation is so high, bad behavior is inevitable. One concert in this hemisphere this summer…and only two in the world. There will be heavily invested (financially and emotionally) peeps who will have spent a small fortune to be there and by gosh and by golly they will want their money’s worth. I think that the better glamberts will prevail, but i also think that there will be some ugliness, if only on a scattered small and personal scale. Nothing can be done about that – Adam can’t do a concert in everyone’s backyard every weekend! – but I’m planning to go prepared to be at least occasionally disappointed in the behavior and prepared also to rise above it.

All, I too doubt the content of the National Enquirer article (in fact, just about ANY article in the Enquirer), but it wasn’t damaging. Just thought it was lovely to call him “Glam-tastic “American Idol” icon ADAM LAMBERT” AND to have a very nice photo (so many “nicer” publications have lousy pics). More visibility for the BB.

I wish VH1 had gotten the amt donated to DonorsChoose right too. The total is over half a million (they didn’t include the second page, the Glam a Classroom total which is $202k) You can see it by clicking on Glam a Classroom. Their comment at the top of the page makes it clear:

Glam Nation taken DonorsChoose.org and classrooms by storm! The combined efforts of this challenge and Glam A Classroom have delivered more than half a million dollars of classroom supplies to students across the country!

Well said and summed up, Kradamour. I so much want to be able to join those who will be the first to line up, and rush toward the stage when the gates open, but I can’t and shouldn’t. I have some mobility issues and I want to come out of this whole experience alive and still walking. These GA concerts get me a bit nervous when I think about the crush that could happen when Adam gets on stage. Will the crowd be orderly, civil, considerate? Some will; some not. I so much want to me at the front, but I know I’m safer back a bit.

Ron, how long are you going to hold out? Smile

  12. ultimathule says:

Agree that a Balsamo/Lambert JCSS would be incredible. Just as Balsamo’s Jesus is the finest I’ve heard – Adam’s Judas is also – a breathtaking performance. Nolan is good, but IMO he can’t compare in sheer beauty of voice to either man.

  13. luval says:

Hi everyone. My thinking is like Ron’s. Just go with the flow…whatever happens happens. I’m not concerned. I’m bringing binoculars anyway. Would love to be close but if not, so be it.

  14. Kradamour says:

Northern Spirit, I actually think that the overall experience at this concert will be better a bit back. I am hoping for big screens, too.

luval, what a good idea! Will buy some binoculars tomorrow. Husband’s birthday is next month, I bet he’d love to receive a nice almost new pair of whamodyne binoculars as his gift! LOL

  15. luval says:

Isn’t Balsamo working in a bookstore now? He was amazing. Such a shame if he’s not singing now. I could be wrong.

  16. Calgary says:

adamland Yes, Steve Balsamo is fabulous! But bear in mind that the recording of Paul Nolan is with 2 musicians in a small radio studio, not with a full band, on stage and properly sound-controlled and amplified.

  17. luval says:

Kradamour… Forgot to add… I don’t have to be close to Adam. I already know what he smells like! Smile

  18. Calgary says:

    luval
    I found Steve Balsamo’s website: http://www.stevebalsamo.co.uk/
Looks like he was really busy performing up til 2010. Not so much now…

I have a bit of experience to share with you lucky peeps going to the Canada show. I went to three GA (plus one reserved seating) GNT shows last year. The first one was in Kansas City on July 16th (anniversary coming up Smile ). My son and I stood in line for around five hours in blistering heat to “get a good spot”. By the third GA show, I had decided not to worry about getting as close as possible to the stage, but to be comfortable and enjoy the show with a margarita and to take some good photos. I have to admit that it was by far the most enjoyable experience. The GA shows for me were alot more fun and exciting than the reserved seating, but the thing to remember is that if you’re successful in standing in line and getting a spot near the stage, you can’t leave that spot for the entire show or you’ll never get it back. That means no potty breaks, drink runs, etc. Those are tough sacrifices for us “29” year olds. Smile

  20. luval says:

Ah Texas, that’s what I wanted to hear!!

  22. Northern Spirit says:

Thanks for that, Texas. I need to hear that and be reminded that the up-front experience is not necessarily the best. You’re right about being locked in, too.

jlurksacto, I’m all geared up for that photoshoot. Can’t wait.

  23. Ron says:

Okay nkd … Just for you! I emailed a total stranger today who lives very near Ste.-Agathe to ask about the weather. Just for you. Wink This person was nice enough to respond to me and here’s what she has to say: (Oh, 30C is 90F).

As far as the weather goes, I was just about 10 miles from where the concert will be this past weekend. During the day, in the sun, it’s VERY VERY hot (30C), but when the sun goes down, the mountain air cools rather abruptly. I know I’ll bring a sweater/sweatshirt that I can keep in my bag until nightfall. HOWEVER, there will be a crowd of 10,000 people which may WARM things up a bit.

MOSQUITOES: They’re the size of birds in the mountains!!!! Make sure you bring some sort of bugspray or you will get eaten alive!!!! They usually come out at sundown… Too hot for them during the day I guess.

There goes my black sleeveless shirt, shorts and sandals ensemble!! Sounds like I should get my suit of armor out of the Cleaners for this concert! Grin

  25. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

Aww dc, you beat me to it! This vid provides 18 fabulous minutes reliving the highlights of each of Adam’s performances on AI. It would be impossible to choose a favorite performance … but if I must ( Smile ): A Change is Gonna Come (but the others all tie for second!).

  26. nkd says:

You’re so sweet Ron! I have been keeping watch on the temps at Ste Agathe. It’s on my start up page, I have an app on my phone, and I bookmarked the link you posted a while back! But I still have no clue what to wear! It’s stressful trying to make a good impression! Wink

  27. Kradamour says:

But I still have no clue what to wear! It’s stressful trying to make a good impression! Wink

I have read several posts on various sites saying that peeps almost feel as though they are getting dressed for a date with Adam. I guess I kind of feel that way, too. Strange. And if there truly are 10,000 people (!!! but I think that is for the whole festival?) it is hardly as though Adam will see any one of us!

  28. nkd says:

I wasn’t really referring to trying to dress for Adam, although he does factor in, but rather for all of my new best friends that I have yet to meet in person! Smile

  29. nkd says:

dcglam, thank you for posting that video. It’s fabulous!!! I still can’t pick a favorite performance, but I do remember being so excited every Tuesday to see what he was going to do. And every Wednesday just to see him again!!!! Razz

  30. Kradamour says:

My favorite is and always will be Mad World, hands down no contest! Grin

nekkid, cherie, better compose yourself… Smile Deep breaths!

  35. nkd says:

I’m trying to compose myself, but someone posted another Adam video that I’m trying to watch!!!
And I see Mr Redpants lurking at the side of my screen!

ETA Had to watch it! Reminding myself that it’s all about the vocals! Wink

  36. tchrsd says:

Watched “The Best of Adam Lambert AI Performances” on 24/7 earlier this evening and just reaffirmed why I LOVE this man!! He had me in the audition and from then on I was hopelessly smitten. Amazing to listen to and stunning to watch!

My first GA concert was Bobby Vinton (anyone old enough to remember “Blue Velvet?”) in Cleveland. Pretty scary experience with all the love sick teens pushing towards the stage. Now its middle-aged love sick women! Guess I better gear up and start pumping some iron so I can hold my own in the frenzied crowd! Are we dressing up for dinner the 28th and then going to the festival to check out the situation?
Luval, what DOES he smell like?? Smile

  37. Calgary says:

My first GA concert was Bobby Vinton (anyone old enough to remember “Blue Velvet?”) in Cleveland.

    Yep. Me.

  38. nkd says:

Are we dressing up for dinner the 28th and then going to the festival to check out the situation?

I would love to go check out the festival after dinner. How are we dressing? I have no clue!

As much as I would love to be within sweat dripping distance of Adam at the concert, I am with those that are not going to stress about getting close. I just want to be able to see and hear! Maybe get there early enough so that we don’t get turned away because it’s overcrowded! That would be devastating!

  39. nkd says:

Calgary, are you going to be able to make it to Sainte Agathe?

I’ve heard Steve sing this with just an acoustic guitar. His vocals are still the best. Not much different.

  41. Calgary says:

nkd Thanks for asking! I doubt I will make it to Ste. Agathe which is too bad because I have a place to stay; but it’s a $1300+ trip. Plus I’m not good at huge outdoor events – gave up going to the local folk festivals because the ‘tarp run’ got too stressful. And somebody has to stay home and mind the kiddies post on the forum!
On the other hand…if my potential hostess were to express interest in going with me, and everything else fell into place…

  42. tchrsd says:

I’m perfectly fine with just being there! Don’t need to be that close just so long as I can see him. Gotta buy some small binoculars and bug spray STAT! Smile

  43. nkd says:

Calgary, we’ll still hold a glimmer of hope that you can make it! It would be so great to meet you, along with all the others that will be attending.

  44. HK fan says:

The Hong Kong show was part reserved seating and part GA. I was in the GA, no lining up early. Stayed outside the hall having a drink, people watching with my friend, went into the hall about 20 mins before show was due to start, got about 8 feet from the stage, in front of one of the coffee tables. Crowd was very well behaved and polite..
As to the camping out before the show, maybe many are just camping like people usually do at festivals, or because there are no hotel rooms left.

  47. cher says:

It sounds like we should check-in and then immediately run to go stand in line! Rolls Eyes Forget about dinner. Sorry, Cher

You go camp there, Ron. The other 27 of us will have a nice, leisurely dinner, get a good night’s rest and then skip in front of you in the line the next day!!! Smile Smile lololololololololol!!

  48. Northern Spirit says:

Kradamour, a friend of mine won a pair of binoculars that also are capable of taking video. How totally convenient. Look for those Smile

I plan to dress up a bit for our dinner at the Watel, but will change into casual clothes before going over to see Lapointe’s concert. I’m also dressing quite casually (= comfort) for Adam’s concert. In the summmer, when it’s going to be hot (and coolish at night), I just can’t be bothered to worry about accessories and the like.

Also remember that mosquitos and other things that bite, like dark clothing (they go after the heat, I think, that you give off when wearing darker clothing), so it might be best to wear lighter coloured clothes.

  49. Kradamour says:

RE checking out the venue the night before…we may well be able to have a good view of it from the spawatel upper floors.

Those of us who have passports could also go and reconnoiter at the Eric LaPointe concert on the site itself. (Not sure if that is the correct English spelling?)

  50. Ron says:

    Good Morning!

I saw for the first time today (maybe this is old news?) the following on the Festival site:

Viewers will be delighted to learn that the organizers will set up portable bleachers for all shows!

These portable bleachers will sit by 1 000 persons to attend all performances. These will be installed opposite the stage, where the sight and sound will be just as good. The organizers considered the profile of some viewers and have a sprained usual protocol found in the majority of festivals in Quebec.
