We have been told that the radio adds date is later this month. Why are peeps even ranking the song before then?

Oksana…yeah, mj’s was depressing…had to get out of there. sigh…..
Strange, because just yesterday he got 7 adds, and just now on Twitter I saw that CHUM, the largest in Canada, has added the song and already played it. In fact, several stations that haven’t formally added the song have played it too. So, they are playing the song BEFORE adds – how is that bad? And all the iheartradio’s are streaming it on their sites.
The song is getting lots of buzz, great reviews, mentions on many playlists. And formal promo, adds, hasn’t begun yet.
Also, internationally, great reception, good presales, good iTunes positions in many places.
I think RCA knows what they’re doing, and Adam’s management hasn’t done such a lousy job with Katy Perry, so they also must know what they’re doing.
Those butthurt people on MJs will NEVER NEVER say anything good about Adam, that’s why I only read the intelligent comments and mentally discard the garbage.
To be fair, only ONE poster on today’s numbers thread at MJs predicted “flop” because BTIKM fell out of the top 200 (as we all figured it would until promo performances and radio adds and spins start up). The vast majority of posters at MJs are taking a zen approach to it (including non-Adam fans), realizing that we are currently in a holding pattern until the promo starts up in earnest later this month.
dcglam — the official adds date for BTIKM is Jan 23 for HAC and Jan 30 for pop. Promo will be built around that schedule; I expect it to start next week-ish. But the stations were given the song back in December so they could start spinning it if they wanted (to get familiar with it, test audience reaction, etc.), and some stations have already added it in advance of the adds date.

Just let me add, everyone already knew (this from MJs) that initiallly sales would peak and then go down, because mostly fan purchases. But, that won’t stop radio, which is slowly growing, and I think will continue slow growth until Jan. 23rd, as PDs and DJs seem to like the song.
Thanks, cwm. It just doesn’t seem fair to me that a song without formal radio adds is ranked and being compared to songs that have those “formal” radio adds. The whole system stinks, IMO…. LOL

dcglam – They’re just raw sales numbers; not filtered for how long a song has been out, radio adds vs. no radio, promo vs. no promo. It’s the interpretation of the numbers that needs to be done thoughtfully with regard to where a song is in its lifecycle.
That’s how you can tell the intelligent, thoughtful posters on the numbers threads at MJs from the butthurt ones. The butthurt ones see a piece of data, jump to conclusions, and spout off declarations without consideration of the nuances of how to interpret the data. The intelligent, thoughtful ones have an understanding of how the music industry, radio play, and sales figures work and generally have a much more reasoned approach to interpreting the numbers. I’ve learned a lot from them.
LOLOL, cwm, when I read “zen approach,” I just pictured sharks swimming slowly in circles around future prey. The frenzy will begin when the promo/adds/spins kick in.
Yep, riskylady, I think we should all breathe deeply, center our chi, and fasten our seatbelts, because it’s gonna be a wild ride.
And we need to be clear with ourselves about whose opinions matter and whose don’t, because when it comes to Adam, there is no shortage of opinions! And there is no point in worrying about negative opinions from those whose opinions really don’t matter anyway.
This little item is very vague, but out here in the boonies, I take what I can get. Sitting in a restaurant, guy across the way pulls out his smart phone and looks up something. Looks like he’s with his daughter and her friends, Starts reading a list. Second or third name “Adam Lambert”. Must be a hit list or radio playlist for around here. I almost jumped out of my seat!
Hi, luval, I was thinking we had seen that picture in the People magazine article back in 2009. I went and pulled out my magazine. There is a pic there in the gold suit, but the female is not in the one in the magazine. Forgot to look if it is the same pose but maybe with the other person taken out for the article.

Happy New Year everyone! Wanted to let you know I am still alive and well just totally bowled over by RL right now. Miss you guys and reading the posts but I feel like if I start reading, I won’t stop and I don’t have the time right now. Don’t worry I’m keeping up with Adam’s stuff via twitter which takes less time and I can do on my phone from work (sshh! don’t tell).

Right, and I do get this as do most of Adam’s die hard fans. Unfortunately, there are many other peeps out there who are looking at these numbers totally unaware of the fact that there has been absolutely zero promo and no formal radio adds. That is my concern and the reason why I wish those numbers were not there just yet. Anyway, it is what it is!

The thing about the Packers is, even though I don’t watch the games, virtually EVERYONE else does unless they are in a coma, but, even then, the hospital visitors are watching!! It is a true phenomenon. Packer fever is just every-the frick-every where. I work in a hospital. In ICU. In brain injury rehab, in the coma unit, and on game day, it’s just unbelievable. Packers, Packers, Packers.
So, yes, even I, would pose with the Packers. If Adam was next to me. Tee Hee.

For my clear liquids the day before, I had sugar free lemon jello and also sipped on hot Swanson chicken broth. Never even felt hungry. Had some apple juice too. Good luck to you!
